ParsleyLion1 · 22/01/2012 06:31

Morning ladies Grin good luck with squeezy vibes today.

So, I after my failed pessaries monday and Tuesday saw the consultant Wednesday who reckoned there was just enough space in my cervix to release waters but the space was so small they would only let a dr do it and not a MW. Finally got a room in the delivery suite at 10pm on Friday and had waters broken at midnight. They allowed me 2 hours for contractions to start naturally before starting the 2 nd phase of induction drip at 2 am. By 7am I was up to full wack on the max drug levels allowed Which they let me continue on until 4pm but in all that time on full whack drugs I only dilated 1 1/2 cm more so 2 1/2 cm. contractions were strong but pain was very manageable though breathing and hot pads. Consultant suggested calling it a day at 2pm on the basis that the uterus might tire and rip. tried for another 2 hours at which point we felt a controlled cs would be better than an emergency one.

Either I am just drug resistant or forcing a baby out when they are not ready to come is not an exact science. Wink

She is here now and beautiful I thought she would be a bit heavier but she is tiny weeGrin

She is latching ok but needs to feed more often to top up blood sugars because of the GD. It's a problem as I can't get her to stay awake so am manually expressing into a syringe at the moment.

Moobee · 22/01/2012 07:04

Congratulations Parsley! Thanks I was coming here specially to hear if there was any news.

My labour was induced after waters broke - it took 24 hours to reach full dilation!

ParsleyLion1 · 22/01/2012 07:12

Thanks moobee they would have let me continue if I had been fully effaced and 4-5cm after 14 hours but I was nowhere near and essentially had no progress at all for the last 2 hours. There issue was that I was on top whack of the drug for so long and they had no other way to escalate it

addictediam · 22/01/2012 07:14

Oh parsley she's so diddy , no wonder she didn't want to come out yet! Congratulations

So the biggest baby so far has been fish with her 13lber is parsley ' the smallest? or have I missed a smaller one?

ParsleyLion1 · 22/01/2012 08:47

Maybe Katy's twins were smaller? But she is definitely diddy. I guessed she would be about 7 lb 3 oz from the growth scan so i was wrong She was 38+4 in the end so should have been about 7 lb 5 oz from the scan. The babygro is huge her hands and feet come about 3/4 of the way along.

FrillyMilly · 22/01/2012 09:01

Congratulations Parsley

I had my little boy at 4.30am yesterday weighing 8lb 1oz. I finally got to delivery suite at 8.30pm Friday night and they decided to wait til after shift change at 9 to do anything. They broke my waters and decided to give me two hours to get going. Things had started and were manageable by then although being tied to where I could go because of the monitor was difficult. By 1230 I was really struggling and felt like I was blacking out. Decided to have an epidural in and was 6cm so progressing well. Felt better after the epidural but it didn't work properly so had to lie on the bed but still use gas and air. Was fully dilated by 3.20 and baby boy was born at 4.30. Found pushing hard. Couldnt feel the first pushes (in numb area) so felt like I wasn't doing anything. Once the head had descended I could feel everything an found lying down hard. They let me go on my side with a leg up in a stirrup which I found better. I did say some really stupid things high on has and air though!! He is the double of his big sister and a very greedy boy. We all came home at lunch time yesterday.

Good luck everyone who is still waiting!!

Oeisha · 22/01/2012 09:26

YAY! Congrats parsley! Thanks Bear
Congratulaions frilly too Thanks Bear

Nothing much to report this end. Slept ok. Whatever she's diong is making bowel movements increasingly difficult Hmm. Other than that, nothing.

BigHotMama · 22/01/2012 09:34

Congratulations frilly have you got a name for her yet? Thanks

salad re dummies, my ds took to one straight away and it was a huge help during first few years. my cousin who has a 4 month old says her ds refuses to suck dummy and prefers to touch a little bit of muslin cloth she attached to side of cot. My ds has lovely teeth and had no probs giving up his dummy when we thought best so do what you feel is best for your little one. I think dummies are great!

ghosteditor · 22/01/2012 09:36

Congratulations parsley and milly Thanks and well done to both of you!

parsley, Juliet was 7lbs 6oz at birth and tiny newborn fits her well, so I'm not surprised that your little one is swamped! Mostly we bought 0-3 months with a few last min newborn sizes and one tiny newborn. The latter is all that really fits!

The wonderful staff at my hospital found me a side room late last night so I managed to sleep 4 straight hours - bliss! And I fully intend on napping today. And guess what? BP is actually coming down on its own, I knew I just needed a bit of peace and quiet! I'm hoping my next reading will be down further as it's still very high. It was 158/106 last night Sad but 130/98 this morning..,

Moobee · 22/01/2012 11:39

Congratulations Frilly!

Parsley, yes another friend of mine had the same situation as you. I think inductions can be quite tricky when baby isn't quite ready.

Karmanna · 22/01/2012 11:54

Congratulations Parsley and Frilly, and ghost I hope you get to go home soon!!

So the list of ladies in waiting is rapidly reducing! I was really hoping Duckie would make an appearance over the weekend but looks unlikely now. I'm a week overdue today. Still got some period type craming and a lot of pressure in pelvic area - his head is really far down now so it's hard to move about, but have not had anything that feels like a cx yet. :( I'm dreading another week at home on my own - so bored!! And getting annoyed with all the 'no baby yet' comments! Angry

Really hope the wait will be over for all of us soon! I'll try and cheer up now! Might try and waddle to the park and have a go on the swings - think that worked for someone?

kelli10 · 22/01/2012 12:14

So... My little man made his entrance, drug free, after about 6 hours of labour on 20th Jan at 2.55pm.

Went into hospital and was sure they would send me home only to discover I was 7-8 cm already. Had a short time in the pool but got too hot and spent the remainder of my time on my knees hanging over the back of the bed. I ended up delivering on my side after trying a few positions to get him 'past the bend' as the midwife kept telling me.

After all that effort I ended up with a suspected 3rd degree tear so had to have a spinal and go to theatre to get stitched up. Luckily it was just bad light and only a 2nd degree tear but did have to stay in over night.

Got home yesterday afternoon and have been loving ever minute with my little boy. Except for him wanting to feed/scream from 2am -7am, thank god for my other half who took him for 3 hours prior to this (including watching their 1st match of the day together) so I could sleep. He took over again at 7am and I got another 2 hours.

Sorry for the essay! Will keep checking for more baby news and will surely be in touch when I feel like I'm losing the plot/failing miserably!!!!!!

Congratualtions to all you ladies with babies (sorry haven't read the tread to catch up properly). And nearly there everyone still waiting, you can do it!

kelli10 · 22/01/2012 12:14

8lbs 4oz by the way!

xshevix · 22/01/2012 12:16

Congratulations new mums Smile

Its my due date today. Lost my mucus plus this morning (yuck lol) and feel quite sick. Hope somethings going on! Dont know how any one had patience when they went over due!

Fryn · 22/01/2012 12:23

It's all go on here! congratulations kelli, parsley, bellakins and frilly! Thanks

A question for second timers - how've you found the birth compared to your first? (not entirely sure I want to know the answer!)

BigHot I'm team yellow too! I'm thinking girl at the moment, but that could change!

salad we didn't have a dummy for DD and she didn't become a thumb/finger sucker either, although she does have the rather yucky habit of chewing her teddy's paw instead! It takes perseverence, but I'm glad we didn't give her one. Having said that, for number 2 we may well give in!

Hoping nothing happens today, as DH is in one of his teenage strops (3rd weekend in a row - he's 42, not 15 and it's driving me nuts), and I could do with someone supportive rather than petulant. DD would be a better birthing partner at the moment. Grrrr.

Fryn i know what you mean about the sulking dh, mine is also sulking. he went out this morning (hasnt actually come home yet) i said to him keep your phone on incase i need you. at 10.40 i tried to call him as i wanted to join him at 12, but he had the car seat, no answer, over 1 hour later, 3 voice messages and over 60 Blush missed calls he finally rings back and says is everything ok? i went bsm at him! saying my waters could have gone, i could have been in labour, dd could have been sick etc etc. hes now sulking because 'its not my fault i didnt hear my phone' and 'but it says i dont have any missed calls' Angry turns out he turned it on silent so it wouldnt disturb him Angry hes due home any minute now and no doubt i'll be getting the silent treatment as its obviously all my fault.

ghosteditor · 22/01/2012 14:10

Kelli Shock ouch! Glad to hear that your little one arrived safely, and my word that was fast!

Have just heard that my friend who is due with her second DC had the baby after a 37 hour labour - eek! First baby was so fast that they more or less insisted she had a home birth, and then second baby goes and takes that long, must have been a surprise!

BigHotMama · 22/01/2012 14:19

fryn what makes you think girl then? Are you carrying differently or is it just a feeling? I already have ds and people say to me it's a girl because I'm not as big or swollen andnot suffering with awful heartburn like I did last time. But I really don't have a clue? It's exciting!

Grin at you doing the stats list again addicted through boredom. I've just bitten my nails which had grown beautifully think it's boredom but also starting to crap my pants at thought of VBAC as don't know what it will feel like.

Moody man would do my head in that's all you need at this stage! My man is very laid-back like me so we don't clash often. He is cooking a beef stew with dumplings today and has finished painting nursery so I'm letting him watch the footy now while I finish a pile of ironing sitting down.

Looking at that list there isn't many of us left eeek!

Capybara · 22/01/2012 15:33

You're right, BHM, we're really in the minority now! Confused

Oeisha · 22/01/2012 15:41

I don't like being this kind of minority . Thinking of posting an eviction notice up there and sending in balifs if she doesn't come out today...
...was talking with DH about buying some whiskey and a stanley knife earlier...woman in Costa gave me a very concerned look...
New moon tomorrow...don't believe that'll make the blindest bit of difference mind you. Just worth noting.
Off for a nap with my wriggly bugger (she had been having a very quiet day until now)...and possibly a Gizzard .

addictediam · 22/01/2012 16:29

Well dh came home and apologised Shock we went for a long windy walk to Broadway tower (OK so not that long but sent was walking, and it was qui ststeep) then dh drove down a bumpy track road to get home. I think he wants this baby out more than I do!

I also found another bag of dds baby clothes I'd forgotten about, I honestly didn't realise she had so many. And I decided to put the crib together and found the bedding for it I though I'd washed and put away. Then I thought I'd just check the baby bouncer was OK and it was disgustingly filthy so I'm now washing and drying the covers for that too. I just said to dh it's s good job I checked now or I'd come home from hospital and have nowhere to
I counted 15 on that list and at least 2 must have already had their babies and not updated!

tigana · 22/01/2012 17:44

Congratulations to everyone who has popped (not a chance in hell I can spot each one individually...I tried...I failed) Thanks

HUGE sympathy for those of you who are overdue...it is bloody awful. Fx for progress for you all.

All fine here. had a bit of a bf crisis a couple of days ago (nipple agony) but between them MN and DH sorted me out and now all back on track.

DS is totally smitten with dd, and incredibly sweet with her, but also a bit whingy and clingy - to be expected I know, we are trying very hard to show him he is not being replaced or pushed out.

Fryn · 22/01/2012 19:20

addicted it's usually me who forgets to turn on my phone/doesn't hear it, which was what last weekend's strop was about. I tried pointing out that I'd be calling him if I went into labour, not the other way round, but that fell on deaf ears!

BigHot I'm carrying the same was as I did for DD and it's been pretty much a similar pregnancy, so pretty easy really! Then again my friend had a similar pregnancy to when she was preggo with her daughter, but the second one was a boy! Exact and science don't exactly spring to mind!

ghost any signs of being allowed out? At least you have a room to yourself now. And, er, thanks for the story about your friend - not what I needed to hear!! Confused I think I'll ignore it and stick with the it'll take half the time line (la la la I can't hear you etc)

oeisha you sound so miserable. Stick on some crap disco and have a dance. No idea if it'll help, but you'll look a lunatic which will make me smile Grin

Oeisha · 23/01/2012 03:52

2h sleep. 2h. She won't stop moving either (as in 50 rolls/bouts of flails since 2300). Think she's gone OP again as I'm getting bashings allover.
Have a sore throat too, so am probably getting a cold, and am now paranoid they won't give me a sweep Wed if I'm full of cold. Feeling a bit snotty too, but then I am blubbing as I'm just so fed up, so that's probably the cause.
I'm obviously being a cow too. Just yelled at Gizzard because I alsmost stood on him (bless, he hates it when I'm out of bed like this). DH is obviously short tempered too, though he's being brilliant with me.
So I'm bouncing on my ball, having some hot tea with manuka, trying to persuade myself I'm ok and it's ok to feel this tired and unreasonable. Can't take more paracetamol for another 2h. Still, 7 days 'til induction.

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 23/01/2012 07:55

Oh, oeisha, you sound so fed up, [hugs]. I know exactly how you feel. I know it doesn't help much but just try to keep thinking that it can't possibly be more than a few days until your little one arrives. I had almost no pre-labour signs except the BHs but once it happened, it happened quickly. Could you send your DH out for menthol crystals to steam your face? It may help a bit and the deep breathing would be good for you. No matter how miserable the next few days are you will have your beautiful daughter home soon Smile

fryn Grin sorry, that was insensitive of me! As you say, the standard second labour is even faster! Fx that holds true for you too.

It's looking good here for being sent home, but am trying not to set my heart on it! Juliet was a star last night - fed almost continually from 9pm-midnight then slept apart from feeds at 2, 4, and 6, and no crying! I had a brilliant night's sleep and feel so so much better!
