Just popping back in to say congratulations to all those with new additions Thanks

Baby Giraffe was 2 weeks old yesterday and is back at birth weight and simply scrummy Smile

Karmanna · 19/01/2012 12:18

Welcome Livened. We're around the same stage - I'm 40+4 today and I'm so fed up of this waiting game. Won't even be offered a sweep until Tuesday!

Having mild cramps during the night time but always seem to have gone in the morning - come on baby!!

addictediam · 19/01/2012 14:18

I think the chattiest people have all had their babies!
Nothing much happening here, have very pain full tightenings every now and then but nothing regular anymore :(

I'm only 37+5 and am so fed up, I really don't know how those of you who are overdue are coping. Hopefully we will all be snuggling our newborns soon

BigHotMama · 19/01/2012 14:36

It's very quiet on here I agree addicted maybe it's a sign some could be in labour?

Nothing happening here either although still only 39 weeks do can't complain. Had a fab sleep last night only turned over twice during night and no toilet trips between 11-7 wtf?

Did anyone watch OBEM? Watched it earlier and couldnt help but giggle at the lady saying 'mommy' then 'jesus' then 'holy mother of mary' can't imagine what I will look like if have a vb this time I just hope I can do it on g&a as last time I had just about every pain relief going and all too early on.

Good luck everyone x

FrillyMilly · 19/01/2012 14:44

Eek I went the hospital as movements reduced. Went on the monitor and all seems fine. Typical they wake up when you get there!! However think waters have gone so if labour doesn't kick of today I'm back tomorrow morning to be induced. Not too sure what is going to happen as they will decide tomorrow based on any progress I may make today. I'm so nervous!

ParsleyLion1 · 19/01/2012 14:53

Good luck frilly. I'm still waiting for a room but you won't need to go through this bit if your waters have already gone.

addictediam · 19/01/2012 15:16

Parsley, your still waiting!? Will they let you wait at home, or do you want to be in hospital

FrillyMilly · 19/01/2012 15:19

Oh no cant believe you are still waiting!! Am I going to make some poor overdue woman get bumped down the list tomorrow?

Karmanna · 19/01/2012 15:39

Parsley, wow, how long have they kept you waiting now?

Good luck with induction tomorrow frilly, if it comes to that!

laylasmummy09 · 19/01/2012 15:42

Congrats to those who have had babies Thanks
parsley sorry you are still waiting, hope its not too long now,
frillygood luck for tomorrow if things don't kick off today,

I had a sweep yesterday and bloody show this morning after loads of irregular contractions but they seem to have stopped Sad I am just waiting and hoping something will happen tonight, MIL is on standby so we can get DD to bed before I go anywhere and she won't even notice were gone but that's just wishful thinking,
hope everyone else is well x

kelli10 · 19/01/2012 15:44

39+3 today so not thinking anything will happen. I've booked lunches with a few friends next week and I'm not even picking up my TENS (borrowed from a friend) until tuesday. I have to be totally honest and say I haven't finished packing a bag for the hospital yet! I did pick up my pram today though so I'm getting there. Anyone else go for the Baby Jogger City Mini? It's bright red and beautiful.

Am I the only one not totally fed up with being preggers? I reckon my dates must be wrong, this baby has plenty of wriggle room and I kind of feel ok (5 wee's a night is no fun and I look forward to turning over in the night without pain but otherwise I'm all good).

Maybe it's because there's so many houseworky type things I still putting off doing - baby is not allowed to turn up till all the washing is done and I've put the nursery in proper order.

Poor you Parsley what a total pain to be stuck at the hospital for all this time. Hopefully you'll get your room, and more importantly your baby very soon. And yay Frilly sounds like things are moving!

Good luck to all and well done to those of you who have popped. I cant wait to see photos of Fish's toddler little tiny bubba!!!!!!

ParsleyLion1 · 19/01/2012 15:58

I'm not overdue. I'm underdue 38 + 4 but the consultant wanted to induce me early because of gestational diabetes.

That's part of the problem though - neither me or bubs are ready to deliver. We had the cervix softening drugs Monday and again Tuesday It took till yesterday afternoon to open my cervix enough for them to break my waters so that they can put me on the drip. Everybody else that has come in through the week has gone into spontaneous labour after the first dose of the drug.

They won't break my waters until there is a space to deliver me as once on the drip I'll need more care. They won't let me home - even though I only live 10 mins away,
am not contracting and bubs is not stressed out. She's very comfy in fact. I must admit I'm finding it hard to maintain the positive mental attitude I came in with on Monday.

Frilly it's possible you'll bump somebody but there's not much you can do about it. Basically anybody who comes in in labour to the high risk unit bumps me as I'm not in labour.

At some point I'm hoping my high risk factors will bump me back over the edge. Or it will get less busy. I just hope I'm not too overtired and emotional to labour by then.

Because they are busy I'm on the antenatal day unit ward with all the people being kept in for observation there is not much sleeping opportunity.

kelli10 · 19/01/2012 16:09

Oh Parsley that is not fair! The day units always seem really loud when I've been visiting. Get your oh to get you some ear plugs and try for some naps when you can. If all else fails pull an almighty strop and see if a bit of mama madness gets you a room of your very own. I really hope some of these selfish labouring ladies who keep bumping you down the list push off very soon!!!!! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Oeisha · 19/01/2012 17:42

parsley Sad Can't believe you're still waiting!

layla Yeah, my sweep's had a similar effect. i.e. nothing other than my plug.

How much plug is there? This was about a desert spoons-full...

kelli I went for the iCandy Peach. It's been set up now for a while. I keep showing it to my bump, but Abi's not getting the hint. Abi's also wriggling and bashing about a lot...think some babies just go for it, despite our protestations and discomfort, some are quieter...

I have been more tired than usual today, but am seeing that as a sign that I'm fed-up more than anything interesting happening.

Parsley so sorry to hear you're still waiting for induction, that sounds miserable. I only had one night of that after my waters went but I found that stressful. I hope you get seen soon.

Xshevix being emotional can be a sign that labour might start according to my NCT class (or it can just be being emotional). Hope you're feeling better now.

Thinking positive thoughts for those of you hoping to go into labour soon!

addictediam · 19/01/2012 19:18

ooohhh regular hb's, not getting too hopeful as weve been here before too many times! its my mums birthday today so she would be really pleased if i gave birth before midnight, although she did say tomorrow is ok too!

parsley i really hope its a very quiet night tonight so they can get you in soon

laylasmummy09 · 19/01/2012 19:21

oeisha you sound just like me fed up and tired I went back to bed while DD was at nursery and I'm sure ill still sleep easy tonight if nothing happens, I'd say a dessert spoon is it really TMI I had the nucous plug a couple of weeks ago and there was roughly the same as the bloody show but if you have had both at the same time there might be more I hope things happen for you soon labour vibes 2 those that want them x

ParsleyLion1 · 19/01/2012 19:48

Thanks ladies. Still waiting. OH got a bit moody this afternoon when they started admitting new inductions who will be prioritised over me if they go into labour. So we've seen the senior midwife and the consultant in charge this evening. We've been reassured that we are not low priority and it is just that too many people are arriving rather than short staffing. I'm apparently one of 2 priority patients on the board but we will be overtaken if there are any more emergencies.

They are considering closing the unit so we will see what happens. Not allowed home though. Sad

FrillyMilly · 19/01/2012 20:38

When I was at the day unit today it was surprisingly quiet although the other woman there was there for 6 hours because her bloods got lost in a chute!!

I don't think anything is going to happen here now. Still having odd strong tightenings but nothing is happening properly. Hoping the induction is successful quickly. Does anyone know if they work better if you have already had a baby or started to dilate? I'm trying to get an early night as I know I will need my energy tomorrow but I'm so nervously excited. I'm a bit worried about being constipated though.

saladcreamwitheverything · 19/01/2012 20:44

Congratulations on the new arrivals ladies! Thanks

I'm pleased to say I'm home with our new arrival, James, who was born yesterday at 1349 weighing 7lb 13oz' with more hair than Daddy! Bit of a horrendous birth and ended up with 3rd degree tear! But he's worth it!!

We seem to have cracked breast feeding (so far) and I'm really glad to be home!

Good luck to everyone close to poppin/sectionin/inducin!!
xxx

addictediam · 19/01/2012 20:51

congratulations saladcream Thanks and Bear for james

ParsleyLion1 · 19/01/2012 21:15

Congrats salad Thanks Grin

They've just told me nothing will happen until the morning even if a room is free as it's too risky to do on the night shift but I can't go home and wait and come back in the morning either Sad

They've offered me a sleeping pill as the solution to my problem Angry

BigHotMama · 19/01/2012 21:17

Congratulations saladcream Thanks and welcome baby James

addictediam · 19/01/2012 21:26

too risky to do it on the night shift!? why is it too risky for the night shift but not for the day? how odd, what changes?

Karmanna · 19/01/2012 21:47

That sucks Parsley - can only hope its nothing to do with the capability of the night staff!!

I've been having strong period pains (quite painful) since about 2pm but can't be cx as it's a constant ache, but hoping it may be a start?
