Ginger, yeah MW thinks about 11lb. There's a few reasons really. Subsequent babies are always bigger(even though they aren't) and I'm measuring big for dates and I never did with DS2.

BBisTitanium · 22/05/2012 06:34

Morning all!

Another early start for me but DS still asleep, my bladder wakes me! His is sleeping better now since cast came off Grin although docs contradict themselves as this doc said it was probably bent not broken?! Oh well!

Still no word from MW, am going to call thurs if i haven't heard! Am considering having a private scan too??

kayz yay for buggy and eek for big baby, surely 11lb is a bit ott? They told me due to GD A would be 9 ish, he was 7lb 3.5 oz, and gad no clothes that fir as i advised not to but newborn!!

ses Sad for heart burn i had it since 8 weeks with A, although nothing major so far, i had a med called malox which sorted me out. Good luck for MW today, hope baby gets moving soon

star hope DS' procedure goes ok, re your sis, i only encountered probs getting tests etc as i was seen as "big", i hope she can get some peace of mind soon

lbot wave, interesting re schools

ginger hope you are feeling better soon

Wave to tink, cant, and anyone else ive missed! Another day at work for me Im actually hating working three days... Definitely unlikely I will go back to that job,its too stressful and a PITA!!

Ah well off I push!

McKayz · 22/05/2012 07:11

Morning,

I think MW is likely to be out. I have a scan on friday and I am hoping she's not as big as MW thinks. If she's following the 95th centile then it works out 9lb14 if born at 40 weeks. But as the scans can be 1lb out maybe I should listen to the MWs 11lb.

I slept all night and still feel tired. It's not fair!!

Gingerbreadlatte · 22/05/2012 08:05

Morning all

BB- cant believe you still havent heard from the MW ! maybe they dont realise you could be so far along...? can you ring the one you had with A? Weird about his leg. Bone injuries must be hard to diagnose in small children! How is the nausea?

Kayz- fingers crossed on the weight.

Hi Tink- are you enjoying the job?

Baby size/ weight is the hot topic with my MW at the mo. They did want to to the GTT test but now they dont. Though they've got me booked for growth scans Ive discussed with the MW about not going.. MW is very supportive.. will see what happens at 20wk scan then take a call. If I am measuring big etc then I will go for the scans..... other wise I'd rather not know!

Big waves to everyone else...

SESthebrave · 22/05/2012 10:19

Morning :)

Ginger - I'm really pleased your MW is listening to you and supportive. Will you get to see the same MW all the way along?

BB - I agree about lack of contact from MW. Definitely worth another phone call IMO.

tink - great news that work is going well :)

Star - hope all goes well today.

Thanks for the sympathies on heartburn. Feel a bit pathetic complaining when I've been so lucky so far!
MW this afternoon and then this evening we're off out for a pub meal with my parents and older brother. DB is down on business for a couple of days (lives in Lake District) and haven't seen him in about 6mo. We're going to take DS with us but he's normally really cranky if we keep him up much past 7.30pm so hope he'll be ok!

Gingerbreadlatte · 22/05/2012 13:28

Hi Ses
HBurn is miserable- hope it isnt too bad for you in final weeks

My MW is the same one throughout. She is fab :) as I am homebirthing again, my area has a homebirth team of 4 comm MWs, run by my MW. I know another one of the team as she helped deliver the SG. its a great set up and very lucky I think :) I will get 1 or 2 of the 4 at the birth depending on shifts so great continuity of care. :)

BBisTitanium · 22/05/2012 18:09

Hi all

Ses not long now are you feeling any better?

Ginger the bone apparently was more likely bruised than broken, that hospital dont seem to know quite what they are on about!

Well i called MW office... As i am ten weeks by dates i was permitted to take the actual midwifes number (wooo the power!!) called her at 1.15 and left a message... Its 6pm and nothing heard.. Apparently the other MW for my surgery is on holiday... I am intending to give it until 1pm tomorrow and call again.. If i haven't heard anything back by tomorrow I think my only real options are to keep ringing or call the doctors.

Going to book a private scan for peace of mind hopefully thursday Smile

BBisTitanium · 22/05/2012 18:13

Booked for 12.40 saturday.. Will just be wondering worrying until then!!

McKayz · 22/05/2012 18:31

Star I hope the scan went well today.

BB roll on Saturday! Will have everything crossed for you.

BBisTitanium · 22/05/2012 18:37

Thanks kayz DP is the voice of reason saying that in feeling all the right things etc, but its worth the money for reassurance and solves my impatience ha

star hope all is well

Starshinetiger · 22/05/2012 20:42

Thanks all for good wishes. DS was a star today. Not allowed to eat after 7.30am and not drink after 11.30am. Finally went for MRI at 3.50pm! Was so good - only once in hospital said "Mummy, my tummy hurts because I'm hungry" and didn't ask for anything to eat or drink. Afterwards, he was pretty groggy, but after 3 biscuits and a slice of toast with jam and lemon squash, said "Am I allowed to eat as much as I like now?" Grin
DD was good for my Mum too (Mum took her into town on the bus without a pushchair, so I'm obviously too much of a softie, although she did have to carry her home from the bus as she had fallen asleep).

Ses, hope you had a lovely meal out - you could have my two to occupy DS. With DS having been knocked out for 30 mins at 4pm and DD having slept for 50 mins at the same time, they are both still awake now! Still DS has to stay of school tomorrow, so no real harm done.

GInger - your MW set up sounds great.

BB - don't blame you for booking private scan, think I would get impatient too.

Kayz - your red book estimate sounds much better Grin

Tink - glad first weekend at work went well.

at everyone else.

Moosy · 22/05/2012 20:44

Hi Star, glad it went well today, what was the MRI for? And how's DD with her bladder probs now?

Starshinetiger · 22/05/2012 21:27

Hi Moosy, thanks.
MRI was because DS had an eye flicker (nystagmus) picked up through routine school eye check and because they haven't noticed it before, they wanted to check visual/neuro pathways. Hopefully they find no particular cause, but all will become clear when we go back to see consultant.
DD is doing really well, thanks for asking. She has been asking to wear pants and has been doing really well on having periods of dry, but often then still weeing in pants. However, we had a major milestone yesterday - she wanted to wear pants to go to school to pick DS up, so she managed scoot there and to get his haircut and home, with a trip to the toilet in costa before and after his haircut and only had a little accident about 60 feet from home when they had a bit of a tussle about who was winning the scoot race and she was crying - so stress incontinence really - am really chuffed. She has her next check up 25 June, but with this warm weather, think it will be the ideal time to try wearing pants more as she will be much cooler Smile.
Obviously am really bummed that we will have to spend tomorrow at home in the garden resting, seeing as it's meant to be a glorious day Wink Grin
How are you and your friend doing now? Hope the funeral helped as much as it can.

lastboxoftampons · 22/05/2012 21:27

Hello everyone :) wrote a super long post earlier and lost it, so here I go again...

Ses - saw your Facebook status, glad to hear everything is going well. Are you happy for baby to stay in until June or are you done with this pregnancy? :)

BB - private scan is exciting but I would chase up the midwife too. My GP is crap when it comes to admin and if it was here I'd be worried my details hadn't been passed along. Good luck! So glad to hear A's cast is off.

Star - sounds like your DS was amazing. Poor little mite. :(

Ginger -is MW concerned about baby's size? How big was SG? MW sounds like a lovely person to have on your side.

Kayz - I'm not sure I've ever heard of those weight predictions being right. Hopefully your MW is way off! Otherwise you may need to consult Kirstie Alsopp, I think her babies were near 11lbs

Tink- hope work continues to go well.

I have another school related question - I know you're all sick of my questions :) My job is 16 hours a week. Right now i'm working two full dayS and DS is in nursery. Come September, DS has a place for two full days a week at the local Montessori, but of course they're school days, starting at 8:45 until 3:15. Now I'm not sure if I should try to get him a third day and spread my work hours over three days or if I should continue with two full days and have a nanny/child minder pick him up and keep him until I get home at 6pm? I liked the idea of being able to pick him up from school but that would mean he'd have to go a third day. Think it might be slightly more expensive to have someone pick him up but not much different. What would you guys do? Any advice?

6 or 7 dpo here. Nice temps, lots of pinching and twinges and best of all NO spotting! But I know better than to get excited...wish I had a uterus window! Hmm

McKayz · 22/05/2012 21:36

Lbot I'm not too worried about being near 11lb. DS2 wasn't too far off Grin I'm just hoping it doesn't involve arguing with MW and consultant about homebirth. Though if I'm still pregnant at 40 weeks I'll be begging for an induction.

Someone on another thread took caster oil. It worked but they were really ill. I'm not that desperate to have her out.

SESthebrave · 23/05/2012 07:11

Star - so pleased to hear DS did so well. Also great about DD :)

LBOT - keeping my fingers quietly crossed!

BB - yay for Saturday!

Hello Kayz, tink, Ginger, Moosy, Cant and anyone else lurking!

Not quite at the "I'm really fed up, get this baby out of me" stage. In a way I don't mind going into June as DC2 and O will at least have birthdays in different months. If someone could take away the tiredness, pelvic pain and heart burn I'd be fine for another couple of weeks!

Meal out was good and DS - although obviously tired - managed well. As is often the case though, my DB & DH did wind my mum up a bit. She walks into it though and comes out with some really ridiculous comments. For example as I was driving everyone home, the conversation went:
DM: oh Ses, do mind there's a bend here
Me: yes, I know the road and I can see it
DM: oh but you're that bit further away from seeing it through the windscreen at the moment with your bump
DB: and you're even further away as you're in the back of the car!
Mum then acts all hurt!

It's all harmless but annoying IYKWIM!

Anyway today we have Jo Jingles as usual but then our usual group of Wednesday mums and toddlers are all busy! Not sure whether to just come home and try to keep DS amused or to take him to the local farm where there's soft play, playground and sand pit as well as the animals. The latter sounds more appealing but when he reduces his days at nursery, we can't go out for the day the whole time!
Anyway he's still asleep at the moment after his late night so I might get up and sort a few things whilst I can!
Hope you all have lovely days :)

McKayz · 23/05/2012 07:35

Morning Ses I have to say I did find that a little funny. That's the sort of thing my Mum would say.

You must do pregnancy better than me as I am at the get this baby out of me now stage. 4 weeks to go!! Hooray!!

SESthebrave · 23/05/2012 07:44

Kayz - if she comes early, you could yet beat me to it!

McKayz · 23/05/2012 19:17

I had a physio appointment this afternoon. I was told my appt was going to be an hour but it was 9 minutes. She asked about the walking to and from school. As I can't stop doing that she decided she couldn't help me and that she wasn't going to give me the crutches I was meant to have. I feel really fed up and like it was a complete waste of my time.

Its been really bloody hot here!!! I usually love this weather but it is horrid while heavily pregnant

Starshinetiger · 24/05/2012 09:42

Morning All!
Sorr for rubbish physio appointment Kayz Sad. Did prompt me to pull out the sweepstakes and add my guess though:

  • Star: 10lbs 1 oz 8th June

Kayz - if it makes you feel any better, you said you are considered full term on 31st May - that's 1 week today Smile

Ses - am wondering if I am too late with your guess as we haven't heard from you yet today. Hope you are just enjoying some relaxing you time Grin

Starshinetiger · 24/05/2012 09:43

Kayz obviously 5th June is the best June birthday of all, but at 16 days before your due date, I reckoned that wasn't very likely - especially as will be having a week off from all the school run at that point GrinWink

SESthebrave · 24/05/2012 12:25

Ah no! I'm still here. Morning so far was waking up at 5.10am, managing to shower before O woke up, dropping him off at nursery, supermarket shop and (tmi!) managing to refuse to give in to the constipation and now feeling quite relieved!

If it's ok, I'm going to declare an amnesty on my sweepstake as I think most people I guessed when we all thought I might end up in hospital having a CS. So feel free to amend your guesses, because I will!

Kayz - I'm with you on the weather and don't really have a summer maternity wardrobe. I was relying on black maternity leggings for the remaining days but really not practical so today I'm wearing a black maternity cocktail dress! It's light, knee length and is comfy (even if I do feel a bit over dressed!)

LBOT - I'm still keeping my fingers quietly crossed. Any symptom spotting?

Star - when do you get the results from DS's scan?

Hope everyone else is ok today and managing to enjoy the weather :)

McKayz · 24/05/2012 12:34

Hello,

Had 36 week appt this morning. All fine except I haven't grown in 2 weeks. It's very strange to me as 2 weeks I was 37cm and I am still 37cm. MW says its probably nothing to worry about but I have my growth scan tomorrow so it's not a problem really.

But baby is head down finally and no long back to back. Her head is hovering above my pelvis and MW is happy with that.

I will have another go at Ses's sweepstake
