Rugby- great to hear from you, so happy you are feeling good. DD1 and DD2 both sound a delight! pls dont worry about personals for now :)

Ses- thanks for answers.... Grin my ML officially ends end July 13 so I'd hope to extend my leave to a year to end Oct (via a bonus I hope to get at the end of this year) so I can 'see DD through' starting school.

Gingerbreadlatte · 18/05/2012 12:56

oh my goodness BB- that is terrifying- good for you for reacting quickly and safely changing lanes. Have an easy afternoon!

The nursery vs new baby thing is hard- 3yos need routine IMO, esp if they are used to it..but its hard balance.

BBisTitanium · 18/05/2012 13:00

Thanks ginger, the more i think about the Angry-er i feel! Luckily DS was fast asleep, although I got out of the car and Envy vomited! Indoors for the afternoon now, i think i will have a lie down!!

I agree i think DS will be better to continue at nursery, its just a few comments my thoughtless at times mum has made about him being pushed out... He has always gone to nursery from 9 months so i dont think he will feel it, not from that anyway. If anything i think routine give them some stability in a time of change

Gingerbreadlatte · 18/05/2012 13:04

Defo for a lie down! given your 'condition'!

I have to remind myself, when i can emerge from my eternal guilt about full time childcare that DD has friends and a routine there that she does like. She doesnt ever appear to be there against her will... I think she'd miss the fun, games and friends if I took her out all together..

BBisTitanium · 18/05/2012 13:21

Haha indeed, i told the policeman through my tears, he was very nice bless him!

I feel the same, DS went two days from 9 months then 3 days when i changed roles, I'm not enjoying three days so thats why I will go back to 2, although I will be telling work its for financial reasons (it partly is as the cost of the remainder of DS childcare and another DC would mean it wasn't worth working), i dont see the harm in keeping him there he is very happy to go. I figure it will give me a day to do things with DC2 like sign and sign, and a day to do housework and shopping (which bores DS) then three days to get out and about with them both, i am only seeing positives atm lol! It may even end up being 2 and a half days, i think its whatever works at this age, and routine works here haha

BBisTitanium · 18/05/2012 13:43

rugby just seen your profile pic! Bladdy gorgeous! Such a perfect pair! Grin

McKayz · 18/05/2012 14:06

Rugby AWWWWWWWWWWWW how cute are your girls!!! DD1 looks so much like you.

BB Thats awful!! I hope the police go talk to him.

DS2 is always at playschool. He goes all day Monday and then Wed, Thur and Fri mornings. He started of doing 2 days and then we've increased it. I think he'd hate not going, he loves it there. I think it helps too with him going to nursery in September. He will be used to going and a lot of his friends will be going to nursery with him.

Rugby what cuties! Congrats again. xx

BB Poor you! Ugh :( hope you're feeling better after a lie down.

Interesting convo re: nursery and preschools. DS has just started two days a week at nursery while I work, but he's down for two full days at the local montessori for September, as I'm really keen for him to go to a preschool instead of continuing with nursery. Of course the hours are not as convenient - I think drop off is 8:45 and pick up at 3:15. DH can drop him off, but I'm not sure if I should try to get him a third day and spread my 16 hours a week over the three days and be there to pick him up, or just keep him in two days, work my two full days and have a childminder do the pickup and keep him until I get home. I think there won't be that much difference financially and my work seems to be super flexi. Just have to determine which is going to be better.

What about schools near you guys? Is it pretty straight forward in terms of reception at the local school for next year? It's insane here in South London. I'm hoping we're not here for next September, but I feel like I have to secure him a good spot somewhere just in case. We just had DS baptised when we were in NY in order to be eligible for the local Catholic school. Took him to their playgroup this morning and it was sweet, if not a little mad!

Anyway, hope yo're all well!

McKayz · 18/05/2012 14:25

LBOT, it is very simple here. We have a catholic primary school and a CofE infant and then junior school. As we aren't catholic(DH was raised catholic but he hasn't followed it since he was 16) the children were only ever going to the CofE schools.

DS2 will be at the nursery at the infant school in September.

I love it, it is a brilliant school and has brilliant Ofsted reports. The boys were both registered before 6 months old and DD will be registered as soon as she is born. It is the only school for a lot of villages too.

I wouldn't have a clue what to do if you had a few schools to pick from.

SESthebrave · 18/05/2012 14:47

Oh no.....schools!!!!

We're going to have issues if we get too set on what we want as where we live, we are literally on the edge of the catchment areas for about half a dozen primary schools. All our schools are over subscribed to the extent where 3 of them are having porta cabins put in for next September to be able to take an extra class! The good news is that none of them have particularly bad reports so wherever the DC go, they should be ok.

However, our first choice would be the local Catholic school as DH and I are both Catholic, and DS and I attend most weeks. We would easily get the support from the priest we would need, but if the preference for siblings is still there (fair enough) then that really limits places. One year, out of 60 places, 51 were taken by siblings! After siblings, proximity is then taken into account and we live about as far away as is possible with the catchment area! Highly unlikely we will get in I think!

We could go for the Catholic school in the opposite direction which also has quite a good reputation but is not on the way to or from work for me or DH and falls within a different local authority! Also any friends DC would have made through church, would all be at Catholic school 1 and not this one!

Other than that it would just be a question of whichever school we get into and making the most of it. I'm not hugely hung up on a Catholic education but both those schools do have a brilliant reputation and my SIL used to teach at the first one.

As you can see I think I could stress myself out big time over this one or I need to choose just to go with the flow and accept whatever we're given.

BBisTitanium · 18/05/2012 16:54

LBOT nice to "see" you i find the prospect of you going transatlantic thrilling!

We have a school at the end of the road so if we are still here thats where DS will go! Although he has years yet!

Kayz has buggy arrived? They are releasing special Edition colour ways (just seen on the puschair trader fb page) and i am even more tempted now!

cant i cant wait to follow your surrogacy, the whole process truly fascinates me!

ses glad O is better hope you get lots of rest now, and DC2 comes after your busy weekend!

tink glad food poisoning passed! Hope your first shifts are good, have you met many people?

I am over my shock although DP set me off when he got home.. He just hugged us very tight, patted my tum and said kiwi must be pickled with fright! I was half crying half laughing! hormones

Still no word from MW who was supposed to call me back yesterday arvo... I am going to wait until next week and call back, hopefully someone will see me soon! Im a bot concerned that because of the negative tests i may not be as far along.. I dont know which is more likely?!

lastboxoftampons · 18/05/2012 18:33

Ugh, when/where I went to school, you stood outside your house, the school bus came, you got on and it took you there. So much easier!

BB glad you find our move thrilling! Would be much more so for me if it was a reality! Wink fingers crossed! Bless your DP. Smile

Kayz a friend of mine has an Oyster and it looks super nice.

FF is now saying I'm 3dpo, which is a huge surprise to me. Timing was okay, but we were on an every other day plan, so while we had a GOF with preseed day before ov, we didn't actually manage day of ov. Hopefully it was enough. Sigh... Although, friend just came around and saw that I was bidding on a CBFM on ebay and she said she had one htat i could have! So score! there! Grin Love a bargain! And so much more comforting knowing the person who previously peed on it...um, right? Confused

McKayz · 18/05/2012 19:02

BB It is coming on Monday. It was meant to come today but I re arranged it so I could make sure I am in. I have seen the new colour packs and they look amazing!! I do love the purple colour I have though.

BBisTitanium · 18/05/2012 19:08

LBOT i also love a bargain!

Kayz i love that colour too, when we know what we are having i will go with a girl or boy colour Grin i like the black and white but the white would mark?!

DP is aggravating me this evening, every little thing! Mooooody!

Starshinetiger · 20/05/2012 08:30

Morning all. Have been lurking as usual, but not managing to post.

BB - your car incident sounds horrible! Well done you for reacting so well and getting out of the way. Can't believe he didn't stop! Good on your DP for reassurance. Glad DS is responding well to cast - poor him, but bet he doesn't remember it in a year or two's time Grin

Rugby - love DD2's name and sounds like she is settling in perfectly. DD1 seems to have responded brilliantly too. You must be a very contented Mummy Smile

Moosy - glad things went as well as they can on Weds.

Ah, the schools debate.... Is always an interesting one. We actually debated whether we should move house before we had to apply for school for DS as the one we're in catchment area for did not have as good an Ofsted as others in our area. We decided that was way too expensive in the end and we're really happy with his school now.

Tink - work sounds like it is going well. I bet the girls are enjoying their time with their Daddy while you're at work too Grin

Saw my DSis yesterday for the day in the big smoke. Had a lovely day but she did get upset over lunch because she is trying for a baby and it's not happening Sad. They've only been trying 3 cycles, which I know is not long and completely normal, but she's worried because she has super-heavy AFs and docs don't seem to be helpful Sad. From you experienced ladies, is there anything helpful I can say, or should I just listen and give hugs?

DS has his MRI on Tues under general - shall be glad when it's done!

Oh, BB, meant to answer your question. I think that LP (following ovulation) is typically no more than about 14 days. So, if you have long cycles, it usually means that you ovulate later in your cycle than the typical 14 days, e.g. In a 34 day cycle, you probably ovulated around day 20. Most due date calculators let you work out you EDD from date of ovulation as well as date of LMP, to help with this. If you had longer cycles, then I think it probably means you OV'd later, so are probably a little less further gone than you think. No need to tell docs though - they will see you sooner if you just tell them date of LMP rather than full story IYSWIM GrinWink.... Then at scan they will probably recalculate due dates. I've probably made that about as clear as mud Hmm!

BBisTitanium · 20/05/2012 08:50

Morning all

star thats what i thought re later ov so will just wait and see at scan, didnt know if it would mess bloods up though? I.e they wouldn't see the hcg levels they expected? I suppose they would scan in either incidence!
It does make me nervous and impatient!

Re your sis, im not sure, i know in my case i would rather have had tests done sooner than later, but policy in most area requires a year. Maybe reading up on fertility might help? Thats what I did if nothing else it made me feel I had a bit of control.

tink work sounds good

I am having major issues with DS's sleep atm. He has gone from being a 7ish- child to getting up between 5-6!! Any ideas? He is tired and ratty through the day Sad i am thinking it could be his cast so it may improve i suppose but when we are both shattered anyway it is killing us!

McKayz · 20/05/2012 11:39

Morning,

BB have you recovered from your near miss? I can not help with the sleep. DS2 is always up early and always has been. I imagine even when he is a teenager he will be up at 6am.

I have just been looking at DS2's red book and I decided to try and work out Baby's weight using the girl weight graphs. At the 30 week scan she was on the 98th centile line and if she stays on there then she will only be 9lb 14oz. Not the 11lb the MW is worried about.

SESthebrave · 20/05/2012 12:23

That sounds much better Kayz :) I wonder where she got her 11lb from?!

Star - hope Tues goes well for DS. When do you get the results?
As for your DSis, I guess it depends on what type of person she is but if she's worried after 3 cycles do reassure her that the average is at least 6. I also found it useful due to being a control freak to feel like I was doing everything I could such as OPKs, CBFM, Fertility Friend. Is she using any of these already?

BB - sorry for sleep issues. Could well be his cast, poor thing, unless you think the lighter mornings might have anything to do with it?

Can someone explain to me how I can go all my life, including all of O's pregnancy and this one so far never suffering with heartburn for it to hit now at such a late stage?! Don't get me wrong, I'm quite grateful for my lack of previous suffering but haven't enjoyed being woken up by it the last two nights!

lastboxoftampons · 20/05/2012 14:06

Hello everyone! :)

BB Poor you with DS's sleeping. I'm sure it has to do with his cast. I don't think there's anything that you can do to help it. I've never had a cast, but I'm sure it'd be impossible for me to sleep well with one on, let alone a LO. :(

Ses I've never really had much heartburn either except for a bit when I was pregnant with T. I'm sure it's just down to the baby taking up so much room. Maybe try lighter meals in the evening?

Star I'm not sure there's anything you can say to your sister at this point. 3 months seems like ages when you're TTC and you don't realize it until it's behind you that it wasn't really that long at all. Maybe she should see the GP or nurse without mentioning she's TTC, just as if she's there out of concern for her heavy periods? I just saw the nurse at my GP and luckily she was willing to do tests because I've got so much spotting. I mentioned we were TTC, but told her that I was concerned more about fibroids, infection, etc. Can she throw some terminology around? Otherwise, give her my email - we're in the same boat here! :)

RE: Schools - I had an interesting chat with a woman I was on jury service with in March. Her daughter goes to the local state primary with the best reputation, but had been accepted when it was still up and coming. She said she's actually had a few "bad" years mixed in with good ones. Ones where she didn't particularly care for her daughter's teacher, etc. She said parents get so hung up on Ofsteds, and overlook the fact that their child will be in close contact with mostly one individual teacher during any given school year. good point, I thought. I'm actually going to go to see two other states schools in the catchment this summer and hopefully will get a good feel for at least one of them besides the catholic school.

Speaking of, DS and I went to church this morning and the playgroup on Friday. Met some lovely mums, so hopefully we'll find a good sense of community there. But something slightly disturbing did happen...I'm either 4 or 5 dpo, when we went in for the children's liturgy, the had them sing "This Little Light of Mine" and I nearly started crying Shock I don't know why! But I do remember being teary first time I was pg, but not until about 10dpo. So of course came home to google "emotional, cry, 5dpo" and of course found all of the crazies living in my computer with symptoms like "fingernails growing faster" at 6dpo! Hmm How does she know how fast her fingernails grow!?!??! Please help me step away from google!!!!!! Blush

McKayz · 20/05/2012 14:11

Ses I feel very sorry for you. This pregnancy has been horrendous for heartburn. I've got Omeprazole now which is amazing!

Starshinetiger · 20/05/2012 20:12

Oh Ses, I feel for you. I was the same - never had it at all even during first pg, then in last few weeks of pg with DD I had it quite bad - Gaviscon did help - I didn't bother with anything else 'cos it was only in last few weeks. Hope you get some respite tonight.

Thanks for tips ladies. I think my DSis is most worried about her really heavy periods and that they mean she's infertile - she literally floods out at least twice daily when she has AF (sorry if TMI). She has just moved and has a new GP sob hopefully that will help and she can get some tests to sort that out. I just feel so rubbish Sad.

Hope you all have a lovely lazy Sunday evening. Sun headed to the south-east this week - yay!!!!

Gingerbreadlatte · 21/05/2012 08:02

Morning all

Star- good to see you here. Good luck for the scan x
Re your SIL, I was thinking about the heavy AF, only thing that springs to mind is fibroids that doesnt necessarily make you infertile? I am no expert. 3 months really isnt long at all. Is she armed with the right knowledge about when to do it, EWCM etc?

Ses - massive sympathies with the HBurn. I had it really bad with the SG. Lying to sleep on left vs right worked better for me, also I had long list of foods that made it worse in the end, so ate a very unvaried diet of very small meals to almost no help. Not all of them obvious. I also took zantac in desperation and gaviscon tabs. Unfortunately the liquid makes me want to Envy so that wasnt going to work for me!. Happy to dig out my food list share if you need ?

Kayz- is the MW saying 11lb? Shock

Hi everyone else, better get on with some work. MW visit here today.. not sure what the visit it for at 16wks? We've been hearing the heartbeat since 10.5wks with my doppler. I guess she needs to check some stuff?
