BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 10:11

Ginger glad its not just me! I still hve one more upstairs... So tempting Grin

Rugby hope you are feeling ok!

We've been back to a&e with A... He has a broken leg! Toddler fracture which is apparently easily missed hence why not picked up wed... Now in a cast from foot up over his knee! Feel suitably guilty that this all started tue and poor boy only got proper treatment today Sad

McKayz · 11/05/2012 10:18

BB I just saw the news on facebook!! Poor little A man!!!! How is he apart from the broken leg?

My normal MW said that the student MW has only a couple of months until she is a fully trained MW!

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 11:34

Hey kayz he is ok In himself i just feel bad for him suffering x

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 11:34

And re MW thats a tad worrying!!

Gingerbreadlatte · 11/05/2012 12:04

BB- sorry for the broken leg... poor chap must have been sore. Glad its been seen to now though

Moosy- are you lurking? Im thinking about using cloth from birth for baby #2- what type of nappies did you use for newborn? can you recommend? Mine are all size 2 tots bots and med or large itti bittis.

Any help / advice welcome!

thanks Grin

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 12:28

Thanks ginger how are you feeling? Im intrigued by cloth is it cheaper or just more environmentally friendly?

McKayz · 11/05/2012 12:41

I was tempted by cloth but after the awful time we had with the Bambino Mio ones with DS2 we decided against it. Plus I don't know if I have time to wash them with 3 kids, dog and DH being away.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 12:45

That would be my concern kayz, as well as leaking etc, and ive heard that its a big outlay to begin with?

McKayz · 11/05/2012 12:53

Those ones constantly leaked and he had awful nappy rash that took ages to clear up. We were changing him every half an hour and it made no difference.

I don't know if the bambino ones are rubbish or if it was his skin but nothing has ever bothered his skin since then.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 13:02

Ah that sounds horrid! Is it a faff to clean them too? I feel bad filling up landfill but really cant see me having the time or energy to do loads of washing xx

McKayz · 11/05/2012 13:16

Not too bad. We had a bucket which we put them in and then into washing machine. But we were doing at least 2 washes a day due to the leaking. Then all his wet clothes plus all our clothes and DS1's and towels, bedding etc.

Gingerbreadlatte · 11/05/2012 13:30

There is an outlay but you make it up quickly in savings on costs.

I had them for DD from 5 months to almost potty training (whilst working full time) and it was fine.

Never leaked, washing was 3 times a week and kept them in a bucket with a lid so no smell. Admittedly it was less pleasant when we weaned but it was manageble. Oh, and I've never owned a tumble dryer.

Its personal thing for sure. For me, its about the piles of waste.

SESthebrave · 11/05/2012 13:32

I was tempted by cloth nappies with DS but in the end used the nature care ones (now branded Naty I think). We used them right the way through with him and the only time he ever has nappy rash was with teething, not nappy related. They are chlorine free disposables made from 100% natural materials. I think ideally I would use washables but it is the time and mess

BB - sorry for DS's broken leg. How long is the plaster on for?

Kayz - plenty of time for baby to move yet. I'm not 100% sure what I did to encourage this one but head was in my right hip and I slept on my left side and also tried not to stay sitting down for too long!

Rugby - I'm very excited for you!!

Ginger - how's the tiredness? Have you got a date for your 20wk scan yet? Do you think you'll find out girl/boy this time?

Moosy - sorry to read your news. That sounds completely tragic and I'm not surprised you're stunned. Well done DD1 for managing to understand and respond well but it can't be easy.

McKayz · 11/05/2012 13:41

BB If you google the nappy lady, there is a fill you form in and she will recommend which nappies she thinks will be best for you to use.

Ginger That sounds quite tempting actually, starting to use them once they are a bit older. I doubt I could persuade DH to use them though.

McKayz · 11/05/2012 13:42

Or BB there might be a form you fill in Blush

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 13:46

Haha kayz i love your typo! Ive been tripping over my words all week!

Ginger that sounds positive i think i will give it serious thought!

Ses he is in plaster for 2 weeks at least but ideally 4! How was Os birthday?

Im so shattered i think i may go for a nap! How lazy! This week off has been more tiring than work with everything that has happened.. So not looking forward to going back! Roll on the next time off haha Grin

SESthebrave · 11/05/2012 14:00

He had a great day thank you BB :) Party is Sunday afternoon!
We got him a Leapad Explorer which he's telling everyone he was given an iPad Grin and the other big hit was the ELC BBQ that my parents gave him.

Lovely day here - I actually have washing out on the line :)

McKayz · 11/05/2012 14:00

Ginger is it you that made your own wipes? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I want washable nappies now!! I've been looking at the bumgenius ones and they are so cool!

lastboxoftampons · 11/05/2012 14:28

Hello all Smile

kayz scary about student MW. But i guess they need to learn. At my booking in I agreed to let the student take my blood Hmm I figured not many people would let her try and no one's ever had trouble getting to my veins before. Think I had to say ok, that's enough trying in the end.

Oh BB Sad poor little man! And poor you, I can imagine the mummy guilt Sad hope you're all feeling better today.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Arrived back in London yesterday am. DS was a star on plane, as ever, which makes it such a shame that I'm such a shit flyer. DH had one real interview while we over as in for a job that's available now. But unfortunately didn't get it :( still might be better for us timing wise and he has a few other irons in the fire, so we're not too broken up about it.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 14:36

Ses we are thinking explorer for A's next birthday so its heartening to hear its a hit!

Kayz i think reuseables are stylish too cute designs espesh for little girls Grin

Lbot good news about plane journey, i fly ok but not been far

Moosy · 11/05/2012 14:59

Gbl, which tots bots do you have? size 2 Fluffles are good from newborn, you just fold them over at the front. I have bamboo size 2s now, some have removable boosters so would probs be ok for tinies, but some have fixed boosters so would be too bulky. I used bambino mios on dd1 when she was new, they were ok but much more leaky than the shaped ones like tots bots. Once she was crawling they were pretty much useless. Having said that, I do have a whole load waiting to be got rid of so if anybody wants to try them....? Wink I don't have any size 1 bamboo tots bots as I gave them to friend who is now having aNOTHer baby (#5!) in August so will defo be needing them again! Bumps has my old fluffles :)

Thanks for the kind words about my friend, the funeral is on Wednesday next week, now that it's been announced it all seems very real and I feel much sadder than I have done in the last few days. Tears keep taking me by surprise :(

Rugbylovingmum · 11/05/2012 15:04

Hi Ses - what made you decide on the explorer in the end? We were thinking about getting DD an InnoTab for her birthday but only because my niece brought hers when they visited and DD loved it. Did you look at both?

LBOT - welcome back and fingers crossed DH gets some good news from some of his 'irons'.

Hi BB, Kayz, Ginger

Rugbylovingmum · 11/05/2012 15:08

Sorry Moosy, didn't mean to ignore you. I'm shattered today and my brain is mush. I'm so sorry about your friend Sad, it's awful news and must be such a shock.

BBisTitanium · 11/05/2012 15:19

Rugby you have just made me Google, and am being swayed to the innotab myself now! not that i plan too far ahead

How are you feeling?

Rugbylovingmum · 11/05/2012 15:33

I'm fine, just really tired - DD was up at 5 this morning. DP got up with her, bless him, but she was really loud and overexcited so I couldn't get back to sleep. She was tired yesterday and DP let her sleep while I was at the midwife which was a huge mistake! It meant she just had a short nap but wouldn't sleep in the afternoon so she was exhausted by bedtime and for some weird reason if she goes to bed shattered she always wakes up early. She's an early riser anyway and DP sent me out to buy a blackout blind (to go behind her blackout curtains) and a Gro clock for her today Grin. It's prob a good idea but I certainly don't have the energy for sleep training or putting blinds up so we'll see what happens.

How is A managing with his cast? How long does he have to have it on?
