Aaaaaahhhh........the BHs have just started along with the scrunchy calf muscle too........Lovely......

Moobee · 02/01/2012 23:32

Sorry Peanuts, I'm a first timer so can't help. I'm sure one of the others will have good advice. Perhaps you could also ask in the childbirth topic? You would get a wider range of people so they would be more likely to have experience. I've read that planned CS can be quite calm experiences as there's more time for everything. When are you next meeting your MW? They could answer questions hopefully.

Has anyone else got strong downwards pressure in the pelvis? I've had this for a little while now. At its worse, it makes walking very hard and really hurts my bottom. Blush

I also have the worst stretchmarks ever - they're really raised and itchy. :(

peanuts777 · 03/01/2012 00:02

Hey Moobee,
Thanks for the good advice, I shall check out the childbirth topics.

Re pelvic pressure and pain in the proverbial: yes!! How many weeks are you?
At certain times now the baby is so low that it affects the muscles in my pelvis an the top of my right leg and I can't walk. Very embarrassing.....it happened in John Lewis and this poor guy looked terrified as he thought I was going in to labour...

Bignorkz · 03/01/2012 01:28

Grin at poor man in John Lewis! Don't you get some freebies though if you pop in a shop? (off to Harrods on Friday if this is the case!)

Still haven't packed my bag yet...may do it tomorrow...bought some cooling spray today though to go in it...does that count as progress haha.

Moobee · 03/01/2012 03:41

That's some progress Norks! Grin I'm trying to think what I would consider the most important thing for the bag: clothes and things for sanitary wear post birth, clothes and nappies for baby, car seat and cheese sandwiches for during labour. I've probably not got a clear grasp though, it's quite late and I'm a bit fuzzy...

peanuts good I'm glad it's not just me. I've been having it for about a week and sometimes it's worse than others. It felt fairly bad tonight. I'm 39+2 now so I think they're fairly engaged. I've not had it in a shop yet though. :)

Woke up for the third night in a row with nightmares. Gah.

Wormshuffler · 03/01/2012 03:56

Hi Girls , No babies this morning? what have you all been playing at Grin

Peanuts I have my ELCS on thursday [bricking it emocion] and have previously had 2 EMCS.
Yes to the wind and mine was painful, it is quite brutal to be honest and is caused by them having to rummage around in your insides. I have read on here about peppermint tea being good for it, so have packed some in my bag in the hope it helps.

Here are some other tips.

You need a nightie only for day one as you will have a cathether in.

Take some kind of easy to get on slippers/ flip flops as you wont be able to bed down to put shoes on. I am taking flip flops so I can use in the shower.

You usually have a shower on day 2. They tell you to remove your dressing in there, get it really really wet with the shower head before attempting.

On day 2 you will feel like super woman and able to do everything yourself.....Don't!!! it is the pain relief and natural endorphines and you will pay for it the next day!

Stand as straight as you feel able when walking.

They didnt take my bladder out, but did put a cathether in in theatre.

Get some really really big knickers that you can throw away after. The paper ones don't come up far enough for me.

Keep on ringing that bell! and get your partner to make sure everything you need is in easy reach before he goes for the night.

Have a good day Ladies

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 03/01/2012 04:16

Morning all.

Wide awake in the wee small hours again. Yippee.

38 wk appt with GP on Weds, turn 39 weeks on Thurs. Am starting to feel like singing a round of 'oh why are we waiting' to my belly.

And Moobee - my stretchmarks are the same. As if ugly wasn't bad enough, they have to be uncomfortable too...

As for the trapped wind post CS - I think that's because they blow compressed air into your abdominal cavity to try and separate things out a bit so they can see what they're doing, my mum had this when she had an ovary out. It can be uncomfortable afterwards as the air takes a while to move through. Apparently pressing a pillow to the scar when needing to cough, laugh etc helps with discomfort...

Thought I was in labour last night. Had a trickle of waters at 12am and then contractions all night long of varying strenghts. But they have stopped now that I'm up and I'm just exhausted.
I'm a tad disappointed but the house needs a good cleaning before the PIL come to mind DD so at least that'll get done now.

MW appointment went well yest. She reckons I'll have a baby before our next appt in 10 days as I went a little early last time. Don't think that's much to go by myself though.

Capybara · 03/01/2012 08:27

Hi everyone - sorry not to have posted for a while - Christmas etc got in the way :) I have at least been keeping up with the thread - huge congrats to all those who've had their babies already!

Anyway, need help please: have suddenly (i.e. in the last 24 hours) developed quite severe pelvic pain. It's not contractions, HB or the terminal kind - doesn't come and go - and I don't think it's SDP/pelvic girdle pain - symptoms don't seem to match? If anything it feels just like period pain, right down to the characteristic accompanying lower-back pain. I got off to sleep fine last night, then got up for a wee at 5.30 and nearly hit the roof as I stood up (come to think of it, that does sound like SDP doesn't it?) Has been pretty bad since then. Trying to minimise paracetamol use, but I have taken three tablets over the course of the last 24 hours. Any advice/suggestions? About to ring obstetrician, but thought I'd check whether anyone else has had anything similar...

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 03/01/2012 08:31

morning all,

peanuts I had a ELCS with DD and yes the pain from the wind is quite uncomfortable. It goes into your back and shoulders as well. I have no idea if they remove your bladder-I know it's in the way but I think they just squish it over-you will have a catheter for a couple of days after. The thing is it's all behind a screen and you aren't really aware of exactly what they are doing so i wouldn't worry. Constipation was the one side effect I remember being in the most discomfort with though. I recommend you get something in to treat it before you go in.

DH gone back to work today. Boo.I am home with dd, just us girls. At least I haven't got the grueling school run for the next 2 days I'm dreading trying to get all that sorted. I can barely walk my pelvis feels so unstable now and I haven't driven for over 2 weeks so I have no idea how thursday will go. I was hoping against hope that something would happen last night-but no woke up today to the same discomfort but sadly not labour. Although I did have some contractions last night that felt very kind of "good" in that they felt like they may actually be doing something instead of the useless HB's

I see on FB that MZ is on her way-woohoo baby no4 is that?

Trying to get through to my doctors is impossible this morning-I think I have MW app today but it's not on my green notes and I have no idea what time it is.

TMI alert: Does anyone else have an immense pressure up their fanjo? I honestly feel like theres a cricket ball stuck up there. I really hope this means babies head is engaged and almost there Everytime I sit on the loo i keep expecting it to go POP and my waters to break. It's quite sore.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 03/01/2012 08:33

X post with you there Capy but in answer to your q-my pelvis "went" like that about 4 days ago. I am really struggling to get in and out of bed or up and down from chairs. When on my feet my pelvis feels weak and unstable. I don't trust it to hold my weight. In my case it's deffo SPD again.

Spagbolagain · 03/01/2012 08:38

Morning all. Feelin a bit flat and disappointed, as I had in my head that baby would arrive before DH went back to work. Not a sign of anything at all happening, boooo.

Still, I have some mucky cupboards that need a clean out so I guess I can now get on with that (yay??!)

Felt really sad packing DS off to nursery, he's had such a lovely couple of weeks at home. Although he adores nursery, I still feel guilty. Feeling very constipated as well, despite wheatbran, lactulose, loads of fruit and fluids. Come on DC2!!!

Spagbolagain · 03/01/2012 08:43

Sorry capy x-post.
Could be pelvic bones or could be lots of ligament stretching as baby descends. Anything unusual, call for reassurance. But I definitely am having more low down aches and pains over the last week. Osteopath has worked wonders with the PGP though!

Capybara · 03/01/2012 08:55

Thanks for the responses Spag and Fish. Feeling slightly freaked out as called obstetrician and she said to come into labour ward (!) Now running (hobbling) around house throwing random things into hospital bag - really hope this is a false alarm! Anyway, will report back one way or another.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 03/01/2012 09:08

capy good luck then lovely xx

spag me too, feeliing very flat.

ghosteditor · 03/01/2012 09:44

Good morning ladies: symptoms galore for you lot! Whoever is having nightmares (bee?) apparently that's a symptom too!

Nothing doing here really at 38+5 - DH back at work, BHs eased off loads (I haven't been very active Blush) but tend to ramp up if I get out an about. Sadly today the weather is awful so it doesn't 't make me want to leave the house much!

I have my final NCT class today! It's about how to care for the baby; timely, I feel! I'm also thinking about going to my pilates class tonight which gives a hint about how non-labour ish I feel Sad. On/off BHs of varying strength and draggy period pains sometimes is as close as I've got so far...

Karmanna · 03/01/2012 10:22

Morning all!

BHM, thanks for the thread on London cabs - I've now found a cab firm who will take pregnant ladies, and it will cost less than a tenner so that's a good result!

And thanks for the tips to relieve boredom! I particularly like the manicure7pedicure idea - won't have time for any of that once LO arrives...

I had my 38w app this morning but with GP as midwife unit is closed still. He said the head was so far down my pelvs that he couldn't really feel it, so I'm hoping that's a sign that he will arrive soon. Woke up early with stabbing pain in lower abdomen and really struggling to get out of bed and the sofa too, but more likley to be SPD then signs of labour?

Hope you all have a good day!

Moobee · 03/01/2012 10:54

Morning everyone! Just woke up again.

fish the cricket ball sensation you mention I think is the same as the downward pressure I mentioned. Sometimes it really hurts my bum, other times my fanjo and mons pubis area. It's started in the last week. Really hurts when getting up from lying down and seems to add to the general pelvic discomfort.

ghost I didn't know nightmares were a symptom, that's quite reassuring! Think I'm off to look that up.

wormshuffler you'll have your baby tomorrow, how exciting! :)

I'm quite pleased my baby hasn't arrived yet, I always wanted them to have a birthday beyond the 4th at least and ideally 8th onwards. I'll probably start getting fed up soon though, I am now mega uncomfy and downright sore.

ParsleyLion1 · 03/01/2012 10:58

Morning ladies Smile

3 1/2 days to my ML starts. Though today is a bit of a write off - have MW at 11.30, growth scan at 2.30 and consultant after that. I'll find out today if the 16th is the final date for the induction or if they want to bring forwards again. I hope not as I'm not term for another week!

fish I definitely had pains like that when bubs was 2/5 engaged. Well not so much pains but felt full up there and like she might fall out in the loo Blush They went when she unengaged. They felt a bit back yesterday so I am hoping she may be back in place but we'll see later.

Oeisha · 03/01/2012 10:59

Morning all. I'm feeling so free of labour I'm going swimming in a few...
FX for mz though. EEEK!
And for you capy. My first thought was cervix dilating with SPD...so maybe this is what they want to check?

Does a mucus plus have to be, err, coloured? Just lot some snotty stuff, but it was mostly clear or white...but then I was having some rather interesting dreams lastnight IYSWIM...but have also had some mild period crampings again...oh bodies eh! We can get to the moon, but it feels like childbirth is still largely guesswork.

Oeisha · 03/01/2012 11:01

Sorry fo x-post parsley

rednosedreindeerhead · 03/01/2012 11:16

morning ladies, good luck mz, capy, worm, parsley - it's all kicking off a bit now isn't it!

i have no more labour signs but in the last week my hands have got puffier and puffier.... had to wrestle my wedding rings off yesterday so they didn't have to get cut off Sad It's normal, right? If it was pre-eclampsia I'd have other symptoms? glad i haven't got to play the violin at the moment, i simply wouldn't be able to!

Moobee · 03/01/2012 11:21

An indirect baby question for you all - has anyone thought about holidays in 2012 yet? We want to go away but can't think where. I thought somewhere hot (or very cold) might not be suitable for baby and I'm not sure about long haul flights with a little one. We're thinking Europe, maybe Berlin, but will need a baby passport. Have you all started thinking about this yet?

I don't think the plug has to be coloured Oeisha. Exciting!
