I like waking up to birth announcements Smile

Welcome to Felix and Dennis and Anna and Hannah Smile

It's my due date today Grin

shonnomanom · 02/01/2012 09:02

Morning all!
frilly are you using a maternity pad? It could be a slow release of your waters. If it continues I would get it checked just to be sure.

Welcome bignorkz, go pack your bag!
Oh cakes I really feel for you. I had heartburn really really bad last pregnancy. Hope you get some relieve and some sleep x

Yes, we graduate to the Post-natal thread once there a few babies around. The lucky ladies that have popped already could start one just now if they wanted.

Congratulations on the arrival of baby Hannah brown Thanks my dd is also Hannah and practically described her! Enjoy x
Lovely name kitty, your hv should be able to tell you about any local bf support groups in your area. Good luck x

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 02/01/2012 09:06

WOLF congrats, beautiful name. Welcome to the world Hannah Eve. xxx

frilly I sympathise, I thought i'd be better informed this time but it seems i'm just as confused and neurotic as last time :)

cakes when my reflux was really bad that time it was making me puke fior those 3 days. I found tums to be good, they seem so much better than rennies. Also it's perfectly safe to take zantac (renitidine) in pregnancy so go see your doc for a prescription of it or just buy a pack-it's helped emmensely backed up with tums and gaviscon. It's almost totally knocked mine on the head. Also fridj thickshakes in strawberry or vanilla flavour seems to coat my throat nicely and help the burn. My doc said it was utterly vital to keep taking the gaviscon 30min after eating, don't wait for the burn just take it as a matter of course.

kitty sorry to hear of your BF woes-it's still early days but don't give yourself the guilts if you have to change your feed method. I always had one dodgy side that DD found hard to latch-we managed very well with just the one side mostly and I expressed as much as I could while she was latched onto the good side, and lying down with her feeding "upside down" off that side. Also cranial osteopathy helped, she had pain when lying on the one side I the end we mix fed for 11 months-I just gave her a bottle of formula as and when-did a bedtime bottle everyday and she would have formula if I wasn't around to feed. It never interefered with my supply because if i felt it was dropping I just fed a bit more til it came up again. i'd say Give it 6 weeks though before you change anything if you can manage it-it becomes a million times easier.

bignorkz very warm welcome to the thread.

I keep saying i'm fed up but my friend who has a 4 week old keep emphatically reminding me to just be patient because it does turn your world upside down all over again. i'm trying to take it in and listen to her but with ankles like balloons, acid reflux like fire in my chest, soaring anxiety levels and a pelvis that no longer wants to support my weight i'm finding it rather difficult to "be patient" I slept better last night at least. I have taken the heavy winter duvet off and put my thin summer ones back on-so much more comfortable and cooler.

shonnomanom · 02/01/2012 10:15

Oh it looks like its even-stevens in the race for Boys V Girls on the Stats List

fish I totally agree with your friend BUT at least once baby is here we can see our feet, pick things up easily, skip, fit into our clothes better, not have to wear bump belts. I could go on. I know Im being slightly selfish there, but im now officially overdue so I feel im entitled Grin

ghosteditor · 02/01/2012 10:33

This is a new record for sleeping Blush. How will I ever cope when the baby arrives.,.

Brown congratulations and what a beautiful name!!! You sound very together and I'm so pleased for you.

Cakes, seriously, Omeprazole is the drug of choice - for me it's been one dose in the morning every few days and i'm almost completely heartburn free... Bliss... All it does is suppress the production of stomach acid a bit. No notable side effects for me. Hope your heartburn settles!

abeautifulbutterfly · 02/01/2012 10:59

Hurrah for all the babies - Dennis, Anna, Felix, Hannah - this is getting exciting! And a very very happy new year to everyone - this is the one where we get our bodies back and lovely babies to go with them!

We partied on NYE with friends - dancing, fireworks, the lot! First time we've done NYE as a family all together - and both the kids stayed up and had a great time. We lifted them into bed from the car at 2.30 am and as I was pulling DD2's jeans off she murmured - I'm just having a little lie down but I'm not going to sleep all night! Then turned over and dropped off Grin. Yesterday was payback time though - they managed well till about 1-2pm and then it was bickering and tears all the way, so we put a film on and then packed them off to bed at 7!
But the poor blighters were back to school at 8 am this morning (no Bank Holidays here)

As of today (or last Fri, depending how you look at it) DH is officially not working and it's lovely. Even the sex is better Grin. I've always been more up for it than him, but recently he's been so ground down, tired and stressed by work that it's been practically non-existent... But we made up for it last night.

I half hoped it might have brought things along, but at my appt today the Dr could still barely get at the cervix and he says I'm nowhere near... Yet again I'm looking at going well over I think, though I'm not suffering like lots of you and this will be my last pg so I'm not in a hurry for it to end... First CTG tomorrow Smile.

FrillyMilly · 02/01/2012 11:20

So I've been to the hospital to get checked out. She did a speculum exam and made me cough. They don't think it's my waters but if it's getting worse over next couple of days then to go back. Said it could be normal discharge (but I didn't have anything like this with DD) or I could have wet myself. It doesn't feel like I'm weeing or smell like wee though. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Oeisha · 02/01/2012 11:37

Congratulations wolf! Thanks Welcome to Hannah! Bear

kittie sounds like you're doing very well! Re breast feeding, your MW should still be responsible for your care I think (I think they do 52weeks of care in total??), so it's worth ringing them and asking for local support. If not Health Visitors will know it all anyway. As will your local children's centres - they should have all the contacts!

frilly I keep getting this, amounts seem to be larger each time, but MWs don't seem that bothered (well some do, but never enough to bother doing anythig about it). It's always clear and not unpleasant smelling, so I'm just going with it being ok.

cakes sorry to hear LO's still wiggling. I got so bloody uncomfy yesterday I was convinced she'd turned. Less so now, as I still have feeties in my liver. Think she's less engaged though. Either way, there was A LOT (50+ wiggles) and it bloody hurt at points.

Ended up sleeping not too badly. DH bless him, went in to the spare room so I could just sleep uninterrupted (by him), so I've not done too badly for sleep. She's sort of crammed herself into my right again. Bum straight up into my sternum. If I lie left, she goes left, but soon creeps back.

Shall we name the post-natal thread? I assume we have a post limit like this one...we could go simple so,
The Higgs boson Gang pt 1.
or we could call it after exciting things like wot babies/us are doing...
...or...
Hang on, I'm overthinking this ain't I...

MissRee · 02/01/2012 11:44

Congratulations Wolf Grin

Still here... still no sign... still no twinges or inklings that anything will happen soon Sad

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 02/01/2012 11:48

frilly thats exactly the same as me the other day.

SlightlyScrambled · 02/01/2012 11:56

Kittie wrt bf, try and get someone to look at the latch and positioning. I suffered last time for ages and found out from telly that I was holding baby wrong. It is a learned thing and those with experience are always willing to help.

Until you get help, remember not to give up on a bad day if you really want to bf. And get a breastfeeding answer to your breastfeeding question. There is always one.

Oeisha · 02/01/2012 12:22

BAH! Forgot to say:
Welcome! to bignorkz.

Wormshuffler · 02/01/2012 12:25

Right the car seat base is now fitted. I have one bag for baby, one for me and bags for day 2 shower stuff etc, and coming home day snowsuit going home outfit etc, labeled up ready for dh to bring I'm on the correct days. I have impressed myself !

My baby has also flipped to the other side with back on right now feet on left, also the movements are less viscous so I am taking that to mean baby is comfier.

Oeisha · 02/01/2012 12:51

worm 's proper weird having the carseat installed... Keep seeing it and thinking DH has left something in the car, and then having a small SQUEEE! Grin
Abi's currently bopping to Dire Straits... Hmm

shonnomanom · 02/01/2012 12:56

So we're hoping that by removing all that is Christmas from the house will encourage the baby to make an appearance.
Do you think it will work Hmm

FrillyMilly · 02/01/2012 13:23

My baby is forever flipping from side to side. I don't think it's an issue. Midwife today said she could still feel plenty of head. Dd didn't engage or get in to the right position until during labour so don't worry if yours is still moving about as long as they dont flip upside down!!

Oeisha · 02/01/2012 13:27

Oh, whilst it's happening again, does anyone else get the feeling they're not getting enough oxygen at points? Was in bed lastnight and got this, and it's happening again. Everso slightly odd feeling, but that's the best I can describe it. It makes me want to take really deep breaths. Indigestion progessing???

I'm liking your theory sho, though I guess I should wait until I've seen the anesthetist, which conveniently to the tradition is the 6th.

MissRee · 02/01/2012 13:43

Yes I get this Oeisha - usually with a feeling my heart is beating strangely too. MW said it's nothing to worry about as my BP has always been fine. It's probably just baby pushing up into the diaphragm meaning your breathing is shallower.

Give it a mention at your next appointment.

X

MissRee · 02/01/2012 13:46

Oh and it's happening much much less now that baby is 3/5th engaged Smile

Oeisha · 02/01/2012 14:23

Thanks missree WAH! No fair! I'm in theory 3/5 but maybe she has wiggled up and disengaged like wot I thought, or at least her bum being in my sternum rather than left probably isnt' helping. My pulse seems ok too...though will pay more attention to it next time. Seeing MW Wed. So, if I remember, I will mention it!

Humm, time for a walk methinks. Slowly going crazy doing all this PC based stuff.

addictediam · 02/01/2012 14:55

I'm so fed up, currently sat in triage waiting for test results and Dr. I've had to come in for possible pe, but I think they've ruled this out now. I may just burst into tears on the consultant and beg for an induction :(

To top it all off so i could come to the hospital I left dd with a friend, she was screaming and saying mumumumum. She never says mum unless shes really sad. So I'm left feeling really guilty.

I'm feeling so fed up and down today I may actually just cry :(

ParsleyLion1 · 02/01/2012 15:25

Oh addicted poor you Sad

ghosteditor · 02/01/2012 16:46

Hugs and a Brew addicted Sad

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 02/01/2012 16:49

Anyone else feeling sick? Do you reckon it's a sign, or just a phsyical consequence of all my innards being squished by a fatty bum baby?

Sorry you're feeling so down addicted - any news yet?

ghosteditor · 02/01/2012 17:03

I was feeling a bit sick yesterday for a while, but thankfully it went. I'm not sure it's a sign unless you actually start vomiting and do so through labour (another joy!). Who know though Grin

DH just took me out for afternoon tea at a lovely place nearby - a bit fancy and we had sandwiches, tea, and scones on a fancy stand, was delicious! HBs have eased off loads in the last couple of days - must be all the slobbing around, must do more walking!
