She was amazing! Maybe it was the outfit...

tigana · 11/01/2012 23:05

my sister has just texted me about the waterbirth, said the woman just breathed through it and was silent? ...."and it was her first"...which I assume means my sister thinks 1st labours hurt more than subsequent ones?! Hmm

As I am a moody, cynical cowbag I want to reply muttering about editing etc... but am restraining myself. Grin

ParsleyLion1 · 12/01/2012 05:28

Morning ladies Smile

Hope everybody had a reasonable sleep. I did apart from waking up at 4.

I'm having a foot and leg massage today. Was my Xmas pressie from my stepmother. Apart from that I have more nesting type stuff to do but will try not to go ott like yesterday Blush

Hopefully cakes has snuggles by now Smile

ParsleyLion1 · 12/01/2012 05:29

Ps - I have a few links to hypno births that sound v much like that water birth if anybody wants to see them.

Spagbolagain · 12/01/2012 05:38

Morning all, hope everyone is ok and congrats to trubble

Following yesterday's sweep, I have been up since about 1am with some pain. Can't make up my mind if it is strong HBs coupled with some soreness from the sweep, or whether it's some action. Problem is DS started in the same way, on a WEd night as well, but we went on and didn't actually have him till the Sun. So I am just making a cup of tea cos I can't sleep at all.

Moobee · 12/01/2012 08:02

Ooh Spag could be something! Today would be a good birthday too, 12/01/12.

I'm still in two minds about whether to accept a sweep today. :( Midwife appointment is at 4pm. I'm living in stupid hope that things would start before then but I can't feel a thing.

fishandlilacs · 12/01/2012 08:22

Morning all,

Sister has just arrived in the hospital. They are putting first pessary in straight away I think she said. Going to be a nail biting day.

I had the best nights sleep 10.30 til 6am without waking at all-not even for a wee break. I feel fab-but OH MY GOD my hips and bladder when i woke.

I suppose I should have an antenatal check today or tomorrow. Been getting a lot of really good painful strong cramps but they are sporadic A couple of hours then all stop. Don't know if a sweep may well just start things off-I don't really want one but these cramps are making me think that this could a be good sign.

Will check in a read back a bit later when i'm not rushing out the door.

BigHotMama · 12/01/2012 09:18

Enjoy your massage today parsley sounds lush!

I'm having my hair coloured today by my mom so that will feel nice to not be doing it myself.

Sky +'d OBEM so can't wait to watch it especially the waterbirth as that would be top of my ideal birth plan.

Slept ok last night but was also feeling wide awake at 3 and smurf wouldnt stop wriggling. Had some bizarre dreams of doing my birth announcement but don't actually remember going through the birth bit. I had a girl too so maybe it's a sign.

Good luck fish and spagbol sounds like things may be starting for you.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

ghosteditor · 12/01/2012 09:18

Good luck to your sister fish!!

And it's amazing how much difference a good night's sleep can make, isn't it? Wink I slept through as well, just waking for four wee breaks but dropping straight back off.

shonnomanom · 12/01/2012 09:37

Good luck to your sister today fish, would you prefer a few days between the arrivals?

Gonna get a few last minute things organised today before getting started tommorrow morning.

Woke loads last night for toilet trips, normally only have 1 visit.

Hope everyone has a good day and that those in the throws are coping x

MissRee · 12/01/2012 10:18

Haven't had a read through yet but wanted to let you all know that baby Freya was born at 00:15 this morning, weighing 7lb7 Grin

We went from 0-born in 7 hours without the induction being needed as my waters went on their own whilst waiting for the prostin gel!!!!!! From then on, it was all very quick, much to everyone's (MWs included) surprise.

No stitches, head out first push and delivered in 3 pushes Grin I feel incredibly lucky!!!

How are cakes, ghost and any other labouring ladies getting on?

Spagbolagain · 12/01/2012 10:19

Hi all, good luck fish

Am having cx about every 6-7 minutes, but not massively regular. So recent talk of baking has given me a mind to make flapjacks, I need to go investigate my oat situation.

Not reading too much into current progress, since last time I was having them every 3 mins for 2 days but with no dilation. So am fearful of that happening again. But need to think positive! Have taped OBEM so may watch soon

Spagbolagain · 12/01/2012 10:20

Woooo post, congrats misRee! sounds like a fabulous birth experience, great that you avoided drips etc. Enjoy it now!

ghosteditor · 12/01/2012 10:25

That's fabulous missree!!! And congratulations, that's a beautiful name and it sounds like a wonderful birth!

No news on cakes's induction yet which happened last night - I'm hoping she's enjoying cuddling the baby by now and saving the announcement until she can do it herself.

No progress for me - never got beyond 6 mins with cx and they almost stopped, but were back again yesterday - a little more intense but far apart. TBH I can handle that - it was the is it/isn't it labour that was stressing me out. 40 weeks today, MW appt tomorrow.

Going to do some vigorous cleaning of house today and see how I get on!

Good luck to anyone with labour signs/appts today!

Nanny01 · 12/01/2012 10:49

Congrats to trubble and missree to I was keeping an eye on things to see who had popped this week. I'm sure the rest of you ladies won't be long and you will be joining us in the land of the sleepless soon. On a good note the acid reflux has gone and I can eat what I want now and when I do sleep it is a lovely comfortable one with out being sick.

fishandlilacs · 12/01/2012 10:50

Woohoo Missree congrats. Freya was on our girl list. Pretty name. Sounds like a good birthing exp too. Well done.

shonno i definately don't want to be sharing today with my sister. I'm relying on my parents for childcare (we do have other options but obv thats the preferred one) If it came down to it then mum would stay there and dad would come here, but thats not ideal either. But i'm more than happy to wait til next week now anyway-I have totally chickened out of vbac. I will got for it if it comes but i'm quite happy.

spag I feel the same-I have had episodes of really good strong pains but then go just peter off to nothing again. It feels like i have had weeks of it.

I'm going to watch OBEM on demand if I can find it and lie on the sofa.

rednosedreindeerhead · 12/01/2012 10:51

Congratulations missree and trubble, amazing!! Trubble you've stolen my babies name, knew someone would get there first Wink

Just caught up with one born every minute, amazing and obviously cried my tiny eyes out as usual. I'm hoping for a quiet peaceful water birth like that one, so beautiful. Fx!!!!

ghosteditor · 12/01/2012 11:21

Just a quick update on cakes - she's still labouring and is now on an epidural, but no baby yet.

What a trooper!

BigHotMama · 12/01/2012 11:22

Congratulations missree sounds like a perfect birthing experience well done you Thanks and gorgeous name too

BigHotMama · 12/01/2012 11:24

Go cakes! Sounds like she's nearly there fx

kelli10 · 12/01/2012 11:25

Congratulations Trubble and MissRee!!! Babies babies babies. Very excited for all you lot having your first days of cuddles with your precious bundles of joy.

Cant wait for it to be my turn (as long as I get the, seemingly, pain free birth I cried at on OBEM). Could you believe how calm they edited her to be she seemed to be! I want that please!!!

Good luck all you inductees.

kelli10 · 12/01/2012 11:26

And come on Cakes, nearly there!!!!!

Karmanna · 12/01/2012 11:43

Big congrats to trubble and Missree - sounds like quick straightforward births so well done you!! Freya was also on our girl list when we thought it might be agirl - lovely name!

And come on cakes - hopefully nearly there. Exciting day on this thread, and more to come in a few days hopefully with all you ladies waiting for inductions!

Dee I might check with mw if I can have a sweep before the 24th - seems to be different policies in different areas!

Having a few twinges today but not getting my hopes up as they seem to come and go...

knittiekitty · 12/01/2012 11:53

Congratulations MissRee and Trubble - brilliant and well done!
You sound lovely and calm Ghost, good idea re cleaning but don't tire yourself out too much!
Addicted I had a show like that with my first, lots of clear mucus, sort of egg white consistancy without blood or smell for a whole day, approx 2 days before my waters broke. It could be a sign that things are moving along nicely!
I had great night, dd2 woke twice for feeds then went back to sleep each time whooohooo! She's napping now after being awake for 2 hours this morning. Lesson appears to be to go out when she's due to nap, otherwise she just sleeps in the pram/car seat and then stays awake all night with her little eyes glowing red with fury each time I try to turn the light out!
It's so hard to try and keep up with the thread, laundry (poo everywhere this morning so even more to do) food for everyone and the odd nap for me. Dh on leave next week, can't wait for spare hands again!
Thinking of YOU all!

addictediam · 12/01/2012 12:08

Still losing lots of mucus this morning, its egg white and stringy, there is so much now it cant be dh so hopefully something will progress soon.

Ghost how is cakes doing mentally? I'm worried shes gone from her mwlu hypnobirth (was she also planning on a water birth?) She was planning on to induction and epi and is still going. I'm worried after its all over she's going to blame herself or something :( send her our love.
