New thread for new babies!

Previous thread at: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1363221-January-2012-Will-any-of-us-deliver-before-Father-Christmas-The-race-is-on?pg=20

Happy new year everyone, not long for those of us that haven't popped yet!

OP posts:

Mmmmm cakes could so fancy your kiddy style supper! About to pop out to supermarket to get some satsumas amongst other things ( can't get enough of them at the mo) and said items might just jump into my basket!

shonnomanom · 09/01/2012 17:42

How beautiful is that full moon tonight!

(Nothing like a compliment to help spur on labour eh Grin )

Does anyone know of any full moon (pgp friendly) labour inducing rituals??

aBundanceOfTime · 09/01/2012 17:45

mmm potato waffles! DP's picking us up fish and chips on his way home, it's official - I love him Grin

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 17:54

I can't see the moon. It's cloudy hereSad probably a bit chilly to lie naked in the garden howling at the moon, no? Wink

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 17:55

shevi been having cramping/mild period pain on and off for about 3 weeks now. Sorry Sad.

Thanks for the empathy re: dizzy spells. Head's worked itself up now. Paracetamol's working okish, so shouldn't complain too much.

Saw one of the ladies in my antenatal class with her lovely shiney baby today. Very easy and short delivery apparently Envy

Oh gods. Food. Bugger. Suppose I'd better go poke some chops and make some kind of veg to go with them.

addictediam · 09/01/2012 17:57

Sorry ghost I'm bringing up the rear, I'm not 37 weeks until Saturday.

I'm thinking burgers and chips for dinner, or chilli. I can't decide!

That moon is definitely looking beautiful and labour inducing! Hopefully one of us will pop! (I'm having lots of positive tightenings, but I'm resigned to staying pregnant forever and ever!)

Went to see a friend today with a 14wk old baby and dd was so lovely with her, she shared her toys, tried to cuddle her, smacked stroked her head and kept saying hiya. I was alittle worried how she was going to react to having a baby around but now I'm feeling quite positive about it until new baby is a nightmare clingy child who screams and screams meaning dd can't sleep and turns into a clingy monster
How is everyone else preparing their babies toddlers for a new arrival?

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 18:04

Nearly there though addicted! Fx for a nice, obedient, on time baby for you Wink

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 18:18

I scalded my belly while draining pasta. Got splash back from the hot pasta water-can't exactly get your belly under the tap that quickly. Applied wet cold kitchen towel right away but owiieeee and it's blistered up.

It's only about the size of a 2p but it bloomin hurts. I could cry.

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 18:39

Ouch! Can you wrap an ice pack in a tea towel and keep applying for 10 mins on and off? Should help with blistering... I think you can also buy burn spray which helps to seal the wound and prevent infection. I really feel for you!

tigana · 09/01/2012 18:43

Oh fish Sad ouch! I am paranoid about burning bump with the iron ( bump is in very vulnerable place for ironing, add to that my pregnancy-clumsiness...shocked I haven't done it yet).
Lots of cold water/ice/frozen peas in a teatowel....

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 19:02

fishSad ouchies. Hypercal post-sting might help? It's waht I usually whack on when I've had a burn.

tig I've got round the ironing thing, by not ironing...

tigana · 09/01/2012 19:35

I'm feeling rather 'tummy -y'. Piffly cramps in lower back/thighs.

Off to stare at the moon....

abeautifulbutterfly · 09/01/2012 20:17

Oh Fish, I feel your pain - I gave myself a deep cut trying to force open a can of chickpeas today. Definitely increasingly clumsy the past few days.

Welcome back to all you rejoiners :)

Wonder how many of you will succumb to the full moon? I haven't got the energy to go into labour today...
Am 39 wks exactly and kids are going BSM now. Just had to explain the full physiology of birth to them and they looked at me highly interestedly and said: "But aren't you scared, Mummy?" What, me? Nooooo....

GiraffeAHolic · 09/01/2012 20:23

Do we have a postnatal thread on the go?

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 20:27

not that I can see!

blueeyedmonster · 09/01/2012 20:32

Ouch fish Sad

I wonder who the full moon will set off too. Not me that's for sure! I'm not ready yet.

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 20:34

Any suggested names for post-natal thread?
My brain aches too much for such musings.
Off for a bath with a camomile tea.

GiraffeAHolic · 09/01/2012 20:59

I'll have a think.

BBC2 in a minute is a programme about the Higgs thingies Grin

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 21:02

I saw that giraffe made me giggle Grin

shonnomanom · 09/01/2012 21:12

Don't know about the full moon bringing on labour but I'm blaming it for my emotional outburts this evening. That and my raging sore back.
Feeling very reset and sorry for myself tonight [petted lip emocon]
Cuppa and Sherlock is in order me thinks.

Hope everyone feeling wonky, achey and accident prone are resting. X

Ps. How about a higgs bosom explosion/big bang joke for the post natal thread. Don't have a title in mind, just trying to provide inspiration

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 21:13

bloody useless full moon-not doing nothing here other than making dd hilariously mental and 4.

Pretty though.

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 21:14

January 2012 antenatal thread: From Higgs Boson to Higgs Bosom.....

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 21:18

mind you, if anyone chooses to bottle feed that might make them feel a bit Hmm if it's not what they planned I guess.

i'll stop cluster posting now I promise.

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 21:35

I've just got back from yoga where we did lots of deep squatting, since three of us are due in the next week! I'm due first though, will be Sad face if one of the others beats me to it!

tigana · 09/01/2012 21:44

What is the opposite of having "the patience of a saint"? Because that is me.
Gah! Every little thing is feeling my wrath this evening!!
