New thread for new babies!

Previous thread at: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1363221-January-2012-Will-any-of-us-deliver-before-Father-Christmas-The-race-is-on?pg=20

Happy new year everyone, not long for those of us that haven't popped yet!

rednosedreindeerhead · 09/01/2012 14:09

hey everyone sorry i haven't been on much, I can't keep up. I've been having extremely strong and regular HB's and strange back pains yesterday so i think it's all gearing up...yesterday was the second time i thought 'is this it?'

also been doing my tax return today (unfinished as yet because friends keep popping over without me having the strength or inclination to put them off Grin ) so I'm just trying desperately to get everything done before the baby 'slips' out.

congratulations to all the newborns and hello to all the returnees and newbies, nice to see you!

aBundanceOfTime · 09/01/2012 14:15

Hi everyone! Room for one more returnee? I was BunMyOven on an earlier thread but with all the sickness and low energy couldn't keep up with your rather impressive speed of getting through threads! [lightweight] So I stuck with the pregnancy thread that evolved from the TTC support thread I was on I love that thread but the due dates are rather stretched out throughout 2012 so it's lovely to come here and see a bunch of people in the same boat complaining about discussing the last few weeks of pregnancy!

I'm 37+3 and I'm ridiculously uncomfortable already, more so than I was when I was overdue with DS! I went to 41+4 with him and perish the thought of having to wait that long this time round!
My symptoms include PGP, heartburn and reflux, back ache, unbearably itchy stretch marks on my comically spherical belly, strong but irregular braxton hicks, so little sleep that I long for a newborn baby to enable me to have some 'quality sleep' and a nearly 3yo to entertain who's not in nursery and with no family within 360miles to help out. Ooooh that felt good to offload! Sorry Grin

Started the day well - got stuck in the bath...

tigana · 09/01/2012 14:22

Ugh... since going over due I have been pinging out extra stretchmarks it seems. Was doing 'ok'...just re-stretching the ones I got with DS really Grin, with a small cluster of newbies over each hip, and now, post due date, I have spawned new clusters either side of tummybutton and on my left boob. Fabbo Hmm

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 14:33

Welcome back bun Smile

My newly found stretch marks were itching while I was out and about. I don't know when they appeared though so I'm not sure if they arrived overnight or if they've just started itching because I know they are there now Confused

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 14:36

Welcome back emmy and others (feeble pg brain can't remember names)!

Have decided that today is a day for getting on with things, so have washed loads more bed linen, baked bread, baked banana and cinnamon muffins to freeze for snacks post-birth, tried to fix our PC which has some sort of card problem (sadly not an easy fix to cable as I hoped), and soon I'm going to walk into town to buy birthday cards. I feel like i've at least got something done! Also, my cousin got engaged at the weekend, which is lovely as her fiancé is a thoroughly lovely boy who has been great for her.

At least ticking things off my list is distracting me from my grump Grin

miamama09 · 09/01/2012 14:48

ahhh I'm back online again, yey! been watching from afar on my phone, but daren't post anything as my phone is rubbish on t'internet!
CONGRATS to all those with new arrivals!!!!! so exciting

I am going infor ELCS on Friday... was expecting baby to come earlier, but doesn't look like it. at least we know it'll be Friday at the latest! Friday 13th no less.

hope everyone isn't as uncomfortable as I am. did a mini food shop today, worst idea ever!

good luck ladies! looking forward to more news of little snuggley babies arriving soon!

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 14:51

Welcome Back emmy and time

parsely the gingerbread blanket? Grin

I really should make a list of "shit to do" but frankly, I'm finding it difficult to keep my eyes open, so think a nap may be in order.

Shhh! But I nearly fell over in town...as in feinted...luckily I was in work, so knew someone would be along in a minute if I did topple. Just sood there holding on to dear life to my trolley whilst it passed. Still feeling not quite right and now havea noisey head again. Oh why can't my BP just be NORMAL. At least I now have yet abother large bottle of gaviscon and some more lactulose.

607 posts in 8? days...no way in hell Abi's gonna be out berore we finish this thread...

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 14:53

Oh! x-post mia. FX for your ELCS!

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 14:59

Mia fx for your ELCS! I have no prob with Fri 13th, in fact I quite like the idea as my mum is being odd about it and she's convinced I'll give birth then just to spite her Grin. And it's a day after my due date. ELCS sounds very civilised! Plus my mental SIL (the eating disorder one) has a problem with the number 13 right now (as in, won't eat at 13 mins past the hour or multiples of, won't eat things in groups of 13 etc) and she seems reassured by my fondness for the number.

At my local hospital they have 13 birthing rooms so they deliberately haven't given them numbers!!!! Wink

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 15:01

Oh and meant to say oeisha eek for the dizzy spell! I guess the usual advice of head between knees doesn't work for pg ladies as 1. We wouldn't be able to get up again and 2. It would be more 'head on bump' than between knees Grin

shonnomanom · 09/01/2012 15:05

Oh oh ghost banana & cinnamon muffins, yummy. That's a good enough reason to pop round to yours for a cuppa. Il be there in about 12hours ok

Welcome back to todays returnees

Iv been trying to keep myself busy this afternoon in an effort to stay awake and encourage labour.

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 15:08

Sho: no prob, I could use the company! they're not very good muffins though sadly

Just working up the motivation to get dressed properly and walk into town...

shonnomanom · 09/01/2012 15:09

The 13 superstition is a funny one isn't it.

I'm booked to be induced on the 13th. As much as I want this baby out NOW, the date doesn't bother me at all. In fact it would be quite funny as my birthday is Feb 13 and mum is March 13

shonnomanom · 09/01/2012 15:10

Oh that's a shame Ghost, they sound devine

aBundanceOfTime · 09/01/2012 15:24

Thanks Parsley Smile

Good luck with the ELCS mia! I'm another fan of the number 13, fab day to have a baby!

Have done nothing of any use to anyone yet today, just freaked out when I saw the time! Best go and do some laundry to give the illusion of a hard day's work.

xshevix · 09/01/2012 15:41

Thanks for the welcome :-) oh has just started working latest so this should help keep me busy. Has any one else been having mild cramping, nothing really regular but happening alot and braxton hicks have kicked it up a notch. Both been going on since Tuesday!

xshevix · 09/01/2012 15:41

Supposed to say lates!

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 15:49

I've done quite a lot today but the house looks messier than when OH left this morning so I'm not getting the benefit showing yet!

I thought it was you oeisha - yes it is the gingerbread one Grin not good on the dizzy spell but I think it's quite common at this stage.

Moobee · 09/01/2012 15:59

Welcome xshevix!

I'm 40+2 now and I've been having mild period type cramps over the last couple of days. I was hopeful at first but it's been ongoing for a little while - I think my body is just getting ready and practicing. I do hope it means I don't wait too much longer.

I'm also grumpy now. DH has gone back to work today so I am enjoying a day being totally lazy. My mum rang last night and she said that her and my dad were wondering if I wanted company for the day. I answered perhaps a little too emphatically 'NOPE!' whoops! She said that she was glad I'm able to be honest, but I felt quite rude. Blush I really just feel like hibernating rather than having company.

Tigana - my stretchmarks have gone berserk - the ones on my lower belly are like raised welts now. Yuk.

Also welcome back Emmy and abundanceoftime!

Apologies if I've missed any other new people - it's lovely to have new people join us. :)

xshevix · 09/01/2012 16:02

I'm only 38+1 but hopefully it'll mean she wants to show up early haha. Had bad spd since about 28 weeks can't wait to be able to do stuff again!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 09/01/2012 17:02

ghost - 13 is a lucky number for me, too :) I've almost convinced myself it'll happen then, so I'm going to be a miserable bunny come Saturday if not...

Kiddys' tea for us here at chez Cakes - sausage, peas and potato waffles, maybe a fried egg too - I just really fancied it! :) Would have happily settled for pasta with tomato sauce actually, but DH seems to regard non-meat meals as non-meals and gets a bit Hmm at them so I'll just have that for my lunch tomorrow :)

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 17:19

Mmm waffles! I've been making lots of comfort food lately too - macaroni cheese, cheese & onion pie, veggie lasagne, soup etc. no wonder I'm such a heff Blush.

C'mon babies, time to meet the world...

Are we all over 37 weeks now? Nice work!

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 17:30

I think addicted has a few more days to go to 37 wks Smile

emmyjj · 09/01/2012 17:34

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Well had my sweep swept, was all a bit sore but not too bad. Cervix is posterior, thick, soft, uneffaced, which is not brilliant I gather! Midwife got two finger tips in and and swept but didn't seem very hopeful that it would lead to much. Got another one booked for Weds, been left with orders to have lots of sex by the midwife.

Ghost that sounds like nesting to me! Sorry to hear about the dizzy spell oiesha, I've had them too in the supermarket, always worry how silly I'd look panned out by my trolley in the aisle!

No induction booked yet, phew! Hoping that they'll put it off until next Monday to give the best chance of natural labour!

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 17:39

Thanks Emmy but it's not so much nesting as boredom! If I could play on my Wii I'd probably be doing that instead, but my hands hurt too much at the moment.

I'm going to yoga in a bit though, which will be a change of scenery at least Smile.
