Dog on lead. Check. Full moon. Check. Coat on. Check. Ear muffs. Check.
Ready! Now, who's going to help put my shoes on?Confused

MissRee · 09/01/2012 08:57

Morning all!

Day 9 of overdueness here and putting all my energy into labouring during tonight's full moon Grin

Seriously though, forthcoming induction on Wednesday is starting to stress me out Sad I wanted to be able to use the pool in MWLU if its available but that's a no-go if I'm induced Sad

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 09:16

Sending full moon vibes to you missree.

peanut pull on shoes are the only way forward at this point! I am limited to loose boots and clog type stuff!

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 09:18

Are we allowed camomile tea? I've been avoiding it plus my favourite tea that contains licorice root. Was that just first trimester?

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 09:37

Morning,

I am vile. I am the most grumpy I have ever been.

The school runs are getting tough. I need a flippin crane to get out of bed in the mornings let alone the get in and out of the car. I feel weird today-all fizzy in my head and I am one huge bloat. My hands, feet and face are all swollen.

My sister still not having any signs that baby's coming. I'm so pissed off (selfishly I know because it's all about how it affects me) because if it weren't for the fact that both of us were due at the same time my mum could have stayed this week and helped with dd.

My maternity jeans no longer fit me and I have 3 pairs of pants left that fit me without cutting my bump in half painfully. I just want to spend the next 10 days suspended naked in anti gravity please.

My Friend who had a baby girl a few weeks ago (the one who was in slow labour for over 2 weeks) text me last night to say that her baby only wakes once a night and is really chilled. Then went on and on in various texts about how not to rush it, enjoy the rest and whats she would give for a proper nights sleep. I actually felt like shouting at her how lucky she should be that her baby only wakes once a night. But i'm a big snarky scratchy meany so I said nothing. The text equivalent of nod and smile.

parsley i have never heard of chamomile needing to be avoided in pregnancy. I would say it's very safe-it's one of the safest herbs out there. Not sure about the licorice root but it's very good for milk supply later.

I am going to have to lay down for a bit and see if this dizzy fizzy head feeling goes away.

addictediam · 09/01/2012 09:51

Missree, don't give up hope. My friend went overdue, had an induction date for the monday, really didn't want to be induced. On the Friday we went for a very long walk, took dd to the park and went on the swings (my friend aswell!) She gave birth saturday afternoon. All is not lost!

Fish people keep telling me to enjoy the one i have and not to wish pregnancy away. Enjoy sleeping and just chill. I want to scream back at them how can I enjoy the one i have when i can't do anything with her!? I hate pregnancy, its the worst time in my life so far, dd rarely sleeps through and with all the pain I'm in and insomnia how the hell am I able to enjoy sleep? at least when baby is here I can sleep when im asleep and not lie there with painful ribs or back ache. And just HOW am I ment to chill with siatica, spd/pgp, rib flare, back ache and a 14 month old baby (who is currently putting my make up on :o) to run around after!? Chill my arse!

What's chamomile tea good for? I might try some if its good with milk production

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 09:55

I've probably being avoiding it unnecessarily then. Sad on the plus side the other tea has sweet fennel as well as liquorice so should be ace for milk.

Pants on the grumps fish. You never know re the swollen face. Didn't somebody say it was a sign of imminence last week? I'll turn moon worshiper tonight and plead to the full moon for you x

Me and bubs are 37 weeks today so now term! I'll be happy if she stays in until the weekend though. Stuff to do.

Found my first stretch marks this morning. Thought I had got away with it but have a network of them hiding under the bump Sad

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 09:58

I've always used it to help get to sleep addicted it's quite soothing and calming. Not sure if it has any other benefits.

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 10:09

parsley We didn't check anything like that. Just did positon and DH saw a run down of her spine etc, but nothing about sizing. She had long legs at 12 and 20wks according to sonographer. Just hoping that isn't skewing the EDD too much.

peanuts Not tried camomile tea. Don't like the stuff, might give it a go though. At least I can make up for the awake bits when DH goes to work. Don't feel too bad now. It's just frustrating.

I'm also fed up with people telling me to "sleep now as you won't get any later". That's not how it works. You can't pre-REM-sleep. It's not something you can bank for later. I'm grateful to be getting (only furbabies to handle here) the sleep I am getting but am not pretending it's going to 'help' me later. It is helping me now, but it won't later...hormones, necessity and the body's marvelous ability to adapt REMsleep later will.

Spagbolagain · 09/01/2012 10:16

Congrats giraffe! sounds like it all went well!

Hear hear on the being suspended naked in anti-gravity. I cannot find a comfortable position in any chair that doesn't make either my bump, back, knees or ribs hurt. Standing or sitting on birth ball don't hurt but clearly are not relaxing.

Running round after a toddler is also killing me, made me realise how much lazier I was in my 1st pregnancy! My upper back is really painful, but picking DS up to change nappies, dressing him when he's not cooperating, getting him in and out car seat etc etc is all now a complete nightmare. As well as constantly stooping to pick up toys. DH says to just leave them till he gets home, but twice now I have nearly fallen over a toy as I can't see my feet, so need to clear up.

5 days overdue, come on baby where are you???

addictediam · 09/01/2012 10:29

Spag you STAND on the birth ball?! how? sounds dangerous to me! :o

My face is bloating parsley and did do right befrore dds birth.

ghosteditor · 09/01/2012 10:33

Morning ladies... Fish, my antenatal yoga instructor (who's a doula and wrote a good birth companion) says that a puffy face is a sure sign of imminent labour within a few days - she said she never wants to tell pg ladies that they look puffy so she calls it Angelina Jolie-face! But she reckons she can often tell when women won't make it back to the next class.

Have a class tonight actually - was so hoping I'd have a baby before this one. I'm next in line dammit!!!!

Spagbolagain · 09/01/2012 10:34

Ha, no, maybe a comma would've helped there.
Another bloated face here too. People will be mistaking my head for the full moon....

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 10:36

well tried to get my head down but next doors dogs have been laft to bark incessantly again so I have been tidying upstairs and putting my lovely quick dried clothes away-yay to the lakeland airer.

One thing that has cheered me up a lot is that I bought some new pj's in asda yesterday, direct.asda.com/george/womens/nightwear/pyjamas/floral-soft-jersey-pyjama-set/GEM99756,default,pd.html

They are really soft and pretty and they fit me beautifully. I was trying them on earlier and i'm still wearing them. They were supposed to be going in my hospital bag but after the discomfort of wearing too tight pants and jeans this morning they are blissfully comfy-so that made me smile. I think they are pretty enough i could almost get away with wearing with ballet pumps and under a cardi for the school run later. Oh my goodness-how the rest of MN would judge.

I really feel for those of you who have toddlers at home. I suppose i should count my lucky stars-at least dd is out of the house for the majority of the day and can pretty much look aftr herself when she is here.

shonnomanom · 09/01/2012 10:47

Toddlers, mat clothes not fitting any more, aches pains and groans. Being told to rest when its just not possible. Your preaching to the choir ladies!

Today brings a full moon, dd back at nursery and she was born at 41+1. I'm hoping and praying that today (41+1) is the day! Please please please. Had loads of pains during the night. Not much this morning except when I'm standing.

Happy Monday ladies!

FrillyMilly · 09/01/2012 10:59

I am so exhausted. DD is at pre school until 12 and was really hoping to nap but can't drop off. I want this over now. I can't bear the thought of it being another 3 weeks. Contractions haven't come back so glad I didn't go to hospital. Would have been disappointing to be sent away.

What is slow labour? How do you know if you are in slow labour?

Fryn · 09/01/2012 11:00

Ooo, loving those PJs fish! Might have to get me down to Asda. DH keeps laughing at my frankly hideous hospital PJs (Primark finest) so I may treat myself to something less brown and floral.

addicted/ghost I hadn't realised that my face bloated last time, but looking at a post birth photo, I look like I'd been inflated!

Parsley do tell, what's the tea with fennel and liquorice? Sounds oddly appealing! I've been having the odd peppermint and liquorice teapig - looking at the study you'd have to be eating a lot of liquorice for it to have any bad effect - the Daily Mail managed to change that to one liquorice allsort and you'd end up with a child with problems, in their usual fine way.

spag with you on the lazy first pg - being able to lie round doing nothing is greatly underrated! I keep making the mistake of sitting on the floor to play with DD and not being able to get up again. I'm so glad she's in nursery all week so she's with people who can actually get down to her level without needing a crane.

ghost it's the skin on my knee that's not healing, although it's finally starting to scab over now. The problem is that whenever I bend it, the scab cracks as it's right on the kneecap. Ah well, it'll get there! I don't suppose I'll even notice it in labour if it comes to that.

On the final countdown to mat leave - 4 days and 5 1/2 hours. Bring it on!

Might be marketing, might be myth, it equally might work and it's harmless to try it.

emmyjj · 09/01/2012 12:46

Hi All, was on this thread originally around the 18 week mark for a while, but then went AWOL! Have been lurking recently though and now I'm on Mat Leave, christmas out of the way and birth imminent am hoping to have more time to chat!

I was due on the 1st Jan, so also 41+1 today with first baby. DP and I did a wonderful hypnobirthing course before Christmas and the teacher told everyone that the actual average length of pregnancy is 41 weeks, so to mentally put our due dates back a week! Research seems to bear this out so I've been prepared for going over and consequently not too frustrated yet, although so excited to meet our baby when he or she arrives!

I've planned a home birth with pool, so hoping labour starts naturally within the next few days before induction looms! Midwife is coming to do a stretch and sweep at home this pm, so hopefully that might get things going! Had tons of braxton hicks - I mean higgs bosons - since about 36 weeks that have ramped up in the last 10 days, but they are not painful or regular so just my womb flexing it's muscles me thinks, limbering up!

Good luck to all my due date buddies still waiting to pop, and looking forward to getting to know the rest of you January girls better!

X

Karmanna · 09/01/2012 12:51

Hi ladies,

Ooh, it's a grumpy thread this morning and I feel just the same! Had my 39w mw app this morning and Duckie's moved and is no longer engaged so didn't get offered a sweep. Next appointment is not until 24th when I'm already 10 days overdue! :( Can't even bounce on my ball as my pelvis really hurts.

Addicted I might actually waddle to the park and have a go on the swings - seems like it did the trick for your friend! :o

Giraffe, congratulations on what sounds like a good birth experience! Noah is a lovely name!!

Cakes I hope your cold sore goes soon! I get them at least once a year (since I was a kid) and they're absolutely horrible. Put some toothpaste on - it dries them out quickly!

Fryn, ooh, not long to your maternity leave! I've been off since the last week of November - realising some of you ladies are still grafting away makes me feel lazy! I've not even really gone into nesting mode yet. DH was nesting all weekend and cleaned the house from top to bottom and sorted out the pram, moses basket and rocker chair so we're so ready now (no thanks to me) :)

Hope everyone's doing ok despite, aches, pains and impatience!

Karmanna · 09/01/2012 12:54

Welcome back Emmy, I hope the sweep does the trick for you!!

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 12:55

Hi emmyjj welcome back. Feel free to add yourself to the stats list here if you have been taken off. We also have a FB group for sharing piccies etc PM me your email adress for FB and i'll get you added.

tigana · 09/01/2012 13:13

I had puffy face for weeks in run up to due date...now I am 3 days overdue it seems less puffy - figures!

Come ON baby!

fishandlilacs · 09/01/2012 13:23

Oooh I think I may be getting a little bit of mucus coming away. i just hoovered the stairs rather vigourously and carried the hoover upstrairs-big heavy old dyson, and when I went to the loo I had something that looked a bit like undercooked egg white. Not clear like normal EWCM. I bloody hope it is and I hope it means something.

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 13:45

Fx fish you never know...

I've been to spend my M&P voucher work gave me. Got a baby monitor, pram blanket ( the stripy one that somebody else got) and a romper suit. Grin

Sorted out some drawers and resorted bubs' clothes into sizes. After lunch I am sorting out sterilization facilities. Got given a whole bunch of stuff and need to see what I am missing. I may even wash the sofa covers.

I'm feeling at a bit of a loose end with this maternity malarkey. Can you tell? Blush

Welcome back emmy Smile

The tea is an Aveda one fryn I got given it as a present. It has peppermint, sweet fennel, basil and licorice root. It's lovely.
