New thread for new babies!

Happy new year everyone, not long for those of us that haven't popped yet!

Sorry to hear you're not well Cakes. I've been out and about the last few days but waddling as fast as possible past anyone coughing or sniffing.

Happy birthday to your DH abeautifulbutterfly!

Hope everyone else is ok.

My due date (today) isn't going to see any action for me. I didn't sleep well though (had only 4 hours) and feel totally wiped out so that may not be a bad thing - I don't have the reserves to go through that yet! Even had my first daytime nap for years just now.

Oeisha · 08/01/2012 20:25

Squirming in cervix - check
Clawing her way out through my bladder - check (especially mid-pee)
Brutally kicking my liver - check
Not wanting me to eat any dinner again, ever - check

Still got bugger all happening in the boob department. Makes me think she's nowhere near ready. LMP, ovulation test, DTD and scan dating were all put due date within 3 days of eachother...and there's DH's predictions about the apocalypse as a young'un in there too. Still plenty of time I guess...

shonnomanom · 08/01/2012 20:48

Aarrgghh even bloody Beyonce has had her baby!! When is it my turn??? Sad

DP just called from work really excited. Someone had called the workshop and no-one could get to the phone on time so obviously it had to have been me calling. I could hear the disappointment in his workmates in the background.

blueeyedmonster · 08/01/2012 21:06

I know the feeling cakes I just want to be well now.

Been really teary today, probably because I am tired so going to have an early night tonight but I hate getting like that it's just not me!

I had my first "just checking to see how things with baby are" call today. I was really hoping they'd wait until I was at least almost 40 weeks grrrrrr. I'm not even 39 weeks until wednesday, i'm going to be switching my phone off if they become a regular thing again.

MissRee · 08/01/2012 21:20

sho I'm also sulking about the Beyonce news Sad

Hi all, I've trawled through all the posts but have retained no information Blush

Congratulations to any new arrivals Thanks

For those asking, new ds is named Noah :) we are into day 4 now, he was weighed today and has only lost 3oz of his original 9lb1oz so that's reassuring.

My contractions started 3:30 am Wednesday, I laboured at home until 1pm and got to the MLBU at 13:45, contractions picked up in carpark and I was already 5cms when we arrived. Pottered about until about 15:30 then got into pool. no pain relief until 16:45, had 20 minutes of gas & air then stopped it to push. Ds was born in the water at 17:17 :)

Had the dottiest midwife for aftercare so everything took three times as long as necessary but was finally discharged at 2am Thursday morning.

Fingers crossed to those still waiting, it's weird how that all now seems a lifetime ago!

peanuts777 · 08/01/2012 22:37

Beyonce! Baby?! Multi plenty mucho confuso......she's not due till the end of feb easily? No?

peanuts777 · 08/01/2012 22:40

Sorry Giraffe x post! Congratulations!!! Thanks wonderful news x

FrillyMilly · 08/01/2012 22:44

Congratulations giraffe! As far as labours go yours sounds like a good experience.

I've been having contractions since 2pm. Started off every half an hour, now every ten minutes but not feeling that strong. More uncomfortable than unbearable. Lots of shooting pains down there. Hoping they build up a bit over the next few hours. Still not convinced if this is labour. I thought I would know better second time.

xshevix · 08/01/2012 22:46

I'm due on the 22nd and I'm driving myself crazy waiting. Any ideas to help pass the time? Lol
Congrats to all the new mummys :-) x

ghosteditor · 08/01/2012 22:46

Giraffe that sounds like a fab experience! Great that your little one is doing so well too. You've picked one of my fave names. Smile

MissRee · 08/01/2012 22:51

Congrats giraffe Grin

peanut I didn't think she was due yet either. If she went for CS then maybe it was done this early to save her the "trauma" of knowing what labour feels like rolls eyes

MissRee · 08/01/2012 22:52

Ooooh fx for you frilly hope you cx get stronger... will look out for baby news in the morning Grin

Moobee · 08/01/2012 22:54

Frillymilly, that sounds promising! :)

peanuts777 · 08/01/2012 23:01

Giraffe your birth sounds very calm and positive. But I would have had to have stayed over I think.....Good on you and can't wait to see piccies.

Re: Beyonce, I am sure she was due end of Feb so hope all ok......they couldn't have done an ELCS that early for convenience could they? Surely that must be illegal?
I would have thought the very, very earliest (unless for med reasons) would be 38 weeks........?

shonnomanom · 08/01/2012 23:02

Fx frilly
Congrats girraffe that sounds like s lovely birth

I don't think anyone knows for sure when beyonce was actually due. But according to the news report she had booked the entire ward in advance for a planned csection.

shonnomanom · 08/01/2012 23:57

Right ladies isn't this supposed to be the full moon or something. So legs open and fingers crossed.
Im done with being pregnant now
Good luck x

Oeisha · 09/01/2012 03:38

Welcome shevi

Argh, I forewent a nap pm (read instead) in the hopes I'd sleep through (minus the getting up to wee). FAIL. Couldn't even just lie there.

Abi's being a bit thrashy. People keep telling me maybe it's a good thing, she's impatient and wants out. Don't think so somehow... I'm mentally trying to think of 1st of Feb, but at the moment, that's making me want to cry.

giraffe All's sounding good! Excellent birth story too. It's giving me hope.

FrillyMilly · 09/01/2012 06:42

I am so tired. Pains until 1.30am then fell asleep and they're gone!! I hope they start again. Surely HBs don't last 12 hours and get closer and stronger? I dont know what's going on.

ParsleyLion1 · 09/01/2012 06:57

Morning ladies Smile

Welcome shevi

That sounds like a lovely experience giraffe. Glad you and Noah are doing well.

Oh frilly fx they start again and are the real thing!

Sorry about the broken night oeisha were Abi's legs still very long in the scan you had the other day? It might sound stupid but I've been wondering if the length of her legs amplifies her movements somehow.

peanuts777 · 09/01/2012 08:15

Ok, let's embrace the full moon and be positive.
My DH is doing the schol run and I am going to do some gentle stretching and then take the dog for a stomp around the park whilst thinking positive thoughts about a relaxed and easy birth.........that starts today........please....

peanuts777 · 09/01/2012 08:16

Welcome Shevi x

peanuts777 · 09/01/2012 08:25

oeisha have you tried drinking camomile tea? I have been drinking back to back cups of it from early evening (stopping by 21h00 latest to help with the pee situation) and it has definitely helped.

Baby is only happy when I am upright or lying sideways in the bath, propped up on one elbow, with bump not touching the bottom. Then the movements are rolling and gentle. Otherwise, it's protest punches and bovver boots and a lot of huffing and puffing!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 09/01/2012 08:32

I was a right grumpy mare last night. Was tired, but couldn't settle, kept pacing around. I am getting irritated with myself, never mind what DH thinks.

On the plus side the sore throat is a little easier today, so fx it's a short duration cold and I'll be back up to strength for labour by due date...

ghost do you and DH want to meet up for a curry on due date or the Saturday if neither of us have popped by then...? lol
