Nope we meant filing. Sorry Smile

Nice work from Bo-bar. Don't envy you the cleaning up. Just don't bend over into the bath - you'll get dizzy and sick.

We haven't heard from greenlady since her waters broke on 4th. Fx she's having newborn snuggles.

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 20:20

yummy addicted posted a link to a thread earlier about stupid stuff people tell you when you are pregnant Somebody's midwife told them to file their nipples to prepare for breast feeding Confused

I almost posted whether the same person had been given the advice to insert melons as perineal stretching, but felt that was a bit to mental for a one-off comment.

Nipple twiddling is in theory supposed to help bring on oxytocin production...what with it being higly erotic...obviously dont' have my boobs....I can't imagine filing them would have the desired effect, unless you like your BDSM.

I'd sensibly dumped everything in the bath with kitty-friendly disinfrectant and then rinsed it in the shower earlier (and cleaned out the bath with the new floor mop) to avoid bending. DH hadn't cleared it up, so I took umbridge and just got on with it. Think it's probably ruined the suede boots, but they were quite old as it is.

I'm going:

Water birth if poss or if not, then fidgiting about punching DH
...with paracetamol
...with entonox if I must BUT esculating:
...then remifentanil (from here on no pool)
...pethidine (if not to late on IYSWIM)
...wtf...emm...shit, numb-arse thingy, ARGH! epidural
...spinal & c-section

Baby to me if I'm ok, or DH straight away, unless interventions needed.

Natural 3rd stage to the point of cord not pulsing or Abi's easily breathing for a long time, then I'm happy for them to give me the injection to help ease placenta out/close stuff up. Though for water-birthers, there's still leaking after the cord's cut, so it may get grim in the pool.

Vit-k injection is a go.

Not sure wht they'll let me to if my BP remains high. Probably NOT the opoids and if it'g getting protracted they might push for epi as it controls BP, but being in a birthing pool does too apparently, so I might just be more of a priority if it's a fight between me and someone else.

That reminds me. Our green book thingy (mat notes) has a bit at the back with a basic birthing plan (questions they want answers to), so I should fill that in!

Mum2be79 · 07/01/2012 20:48

Evening all!

Congratulations Nanny and anyone else I have missed who has given birth so far. Thanks

William is being a typical newborn - sleep most of the day and wake every hour or so during the night. We're finding it tricky helping him to direct his pee INSIDE his nappy rather than outside! Hmm With me being in hospital for 6 days and DH at work.visiting, washing has been forgotten and we were down to his last sleepsuit today. Luckily we got some washing done and the MIL has taken two basket loads.

I am still incredibly sore from my EMCS and my wound keeps weeping/bleeding though less so everyday. The MW called yesterday. She's really pleased with how everything is going (i.e. BF and my wound, which despite it's weepiness, is healing rather splendidly).

William is being weighed on Monday. He was weighed on Wednesday and he lost 220g within 4 days -a lot less than the MW's thought as he 'wasn't feeding well' during the first three days.

buzzgirly · 07/01/2012 21:08

Hi all

I can't believe anyone would fle their nipples, gives me shudders just thinking about it!

Has everyone else being receiving constant messages from family/friends asking if baby still there? It's nice they all care but I will let them all know! I'm just getting fed up, so knackered all the time and always starving!

I am planning a vbac if possible, dd was emcs but she was born with lots of health problems so getting really anxious about it all. This dc looks fine from all the scans but don't think I'll believe it until holding baby in my arms.

Mum2be glad to hear you're home, and that you've got such a helpful MIL!

Good luck to everyone that's have had shows/pains - I'm very jealous!

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 21:32

Hi m2b glad to hear you and William are doing well. Hmm the washing issue is something that may need to be considered as I'm not sure how quickly I'll be allowed out. With the GD they may need extra blood sugar tests on bubs and keep us in.

Not having texts yet. Mind you I've told everybody the early induction date so I'm not expecting them to start until then.

MissRee · 07/01/2012 21:42

I am soooooo over people texting/ringing/fb messaging me asking whether I've "popped" yet Angry I am so tempted to send one back saying "Oops, yes did I forget to tell you???"

supadupapupascupa · 07/01/2012 22:06

i feel the opposite, i would quite like my mum to ask me how i am and if the baby has come yet Sad i don't think she's bothered.....

fishandlilacs · 07/01/2012 22:31

ree and belini i'm trying to add you to th FB group but i can't yet as you haven't accepted my friend request yet, once thats done I can add you.

fishandlilacs · 07/01/2012 22:40

Thanks for the update M2 you sound like youre doing great. Any news from Greenlady yet anyone?

RE~: Show. I thought I had a show a few weeks ago-I'm not sure what it was now but it never led to anything. I did however find out through sheer curiosity that there some people who have photographed thiers and posted it up on the net-so if youre not of a delicate disposition and grossly curious, -google images I dare you. The variety is quite something.

I'm having a wobble. I think I want to change my mind about my vbac. I think I don't want to anymore, I think i'd rather have an elcs. This baby is massive-everyone who sees me comments that i'm enormous and i can see that I am. I just dont think i can do it- DD was a big baby and she never came out naturally so I don''t see how this one will.
I'm terrified but torn between wanting to at least try myself. Do you think they would do it for me if i asked? Because if I do make that decision I don't want to risk starting myself so I guess it would be brought forward.

I keep having dizzy fits today. Not good.

Does anyone else have a bump that is simply painful-not contractions but just the sheer bloody weight and stretch and hardness of it?

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 22:50

My bump isn't painful as such but it aches. It has done constantly for the last few days. It's definitely just the weight of the bump rather than anything else. I suspect there is an added bit of trapped wind in there as well.

Maybe have a think through the VBAC until Monday and see how you feel then. There is more likely to be somebody to talk to then. In the meantime the size of your bump is not necessarily relative to baby. My bump is huge but bubs is average on the growth scans.

shonnomanom · 07/01/2012 23:13

My bump feels the same fish constantly aching rather than in waves. My back is more sore as well, I think due to the weight but baby is in a similar position to what dd was in the end and she made my back worse by pressing on a nerve.
Also I'm finding it difficult to wear my bump belt now that baby has started to engage.

So tired. Must sleep

tigana · 07/01/2012 23:50

ouch.
baby is wriggling like crazy and I'm getting pretty painful stabby, twisty crampy pains really low in abdomen. Painful enough to make me catch my breath/say rude words.
Could be super-indigestion after the (not spicy) curry for dinner. Hmm

ParsleyLion1 · 08/01/2012 06:58

Morning ladies Smile

I hope that the fact I'm the first on today means that you all had reasonable sleep. Did the pains turn out to be curry related tigana ?

ParsleyLion1 · 08/01/2012 07:11

Whoop! Just checked fb and green had her baby on Wed. Congrats green Thanks Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 08/01/2012 08:25

fish - I think, with your history, if you asked for it then they would let you have an ELCS. I second what someone else suggested and think it through until tomorrow as you're not likely to get anyone to talk to about it until then anyway.

I've woken up today with a raging sore throat. Ouchie. Guess that explains the cold sore. Normally I'd dose myself up with ten tonnes of vitamins and supplements, but not sure what's OK for me to take, so I guess it's Elderberry cordial and hope the bug clears off quickly. I could do w/o trying to labour whilst feeling ill.

How are the injuries today ghost?

shonnomanom · 08/01/2012 09:20

Congratulations green Thanks

fishandlilacs · 08/01/2012 09:21

Woohoo congrats green welcome Arthur-good name (my grandad)

Had a reasonable sleep but back ache is severe today-had to get out of bed to sit up with a hot water bottle against it almost straight away. shonno i too cannot wear my belt anymore, it hurts worse. I think I may use my tens today to see if that helps the backache.

tigana i have had lot of that sort of thing re wiggly twisty pain-I consider it to be a good sign that baby is moving in the right direction.

cakes I have a cold/sore throat too. I am taking paracetemol, berocca, hot ginger cordial with honey and I am having a hot toddy with, honey, lemon and a tot of whisky in the evening before bed.

My sis is now officially a week overdue. Poor woman. She's as fed up as can be and wrote a slightly snarky FB status about family phoning all the time. i have been phoning a lot but not neccesarily to ask about labour, so i took it a bit personally, but i'm sure she probably is referring to all family members. She knows it's not as if i don't know it feels.

Re my vbac wobble-i'm still thinking it through. I gotta phone midwife tomorrow anyway to book a sweep if i want one but I think i'll talk it through with her then. The chances of them actually bringing my appointment forward is relatively slim I would of thought plus with my sister being induced on wed it makes the whole childcare thing very inconvenient if were in at the same time. i only have tio hang on til 18th to have a c section anyway and i'm not predicting any changes before then.

FrillyMilly · 08/01/2012 10:08

My birth plan just has essentials in. I want to remain active as much as possible, want baby handed straight to me, want DH to cut cord, want injection for placenta delivery and baby to have vitamin K. I don't (and didn't last time) go in to too much detail as you have to go with the flow. I didn't want an episiotomy but ended up with one last time as DD heart started racing. It wasn't that bad and I would prefer to be cut than have a large tear. They give you a local anesthestic when they do it.

fish if you want an ELCS that's perfectly understandable. I think you are doing the right thing by talking it through with your midwife. I hate the stigma attached to assisted births and c sections. I've even seen people (on here) insinuate they are the mothers fault! They've been around as long as a 'natural' birth it's just that mothers get to live now. Sorry ranted a bit there.

I slept terribly last night and have period pain type cramps in my stomach and back. Only plus point is I managed to do my online grocery shop on my phone at 4 this morning. I know people say don't moan it's worse when the newborn is here but I honestly don't think it is. Yes sleep is disturbed but at least in between feeds you can actually sleep or was my DD just good? I'm also full of a cold. My nose is constantly blocked. I didn't realise how much I relied on cold/flu medicine before pregnancy.

ghosteditor · 08/01/2012 10:08

Congrats green!

Sorry to hear about those with backache woes, hope they ease off.

Thanks for asking cakes; I seem to have got off fairly lightly and just have a sore wrist, ankle, and hip - nothing is swollen or sprained. However, I have a sore throat too! We must have infected each other Sad.

Had a wonderful night's sleep last night despite feeling antsy before going to bed, so I feel up for the day. And DH is being a legend and is trying to plan a day out to keep me occupied.

kelli10 · 08/01/2012 10:34

Hello ladies, been lurking and reading the millions of posts. Only just finished work for ML so have struggled to find time to join you for your chats - goodness you girls can talk (I love it!)!

Congratulation to all of you snuggling with your babies, I'm very envious although not at all ready so I think I need the next 2 weeks and might not even mind going over...

Sorry to hear about all the aches and pains (and falls... poor you ghost, I'm quite the faller myself but usually after a few drinkies so have avoided any major spills just the ocasional trip). I think I've been quite lucky with the pains really, cant turn over in bed for love nor money and feel very heavy and uncomfortable. I hate the heart burn but gaviscon seems to do the trick for me - perhaps upping the dose could work for some of you.

Have any of you been treated to a baby shower? My besties threw me a suprise one yesterday which was lovely. Lots of home made quiche, cake and biscuits and of course lots of very good friends and family. Feel very spoilt right about now. Thinking I might need a bigger house to store all the pressies they gave me. I'm one of the first in our group of friends to have a bubba so they all went rather overboard. Not complaining just worried they'll all get knocked up at the same time and bankrupt me with all the reciprocal present buying. Cant believe how lucky we've been.

Well that's me caught up, I'll be trying to keep a bit more involved from now on. I love a good chin wag too!

ParsleyLion1 · 08/01/2012 10:40

Welcome kelli Smile I've only just started leave myself so know the feeling.

When is your due date? Smile
