ghost - so sorry to hear about that - if it makes you feel any better I missed my footing and would have fallen down a flight of stone steps if DH hadn't been in front of me, so it's not just you... Gave me quite a fright, must have been worse for you.

We had lunch out and the steak I ordered was rather gristly. I did point this out to them gently as I was a bit disappointed, but wasn;t expecting to get the meal for free, which i did, so we had a very bargainous meal out, which was nice.

laylasmummy09 · 07/01/2012 14:54

Hi all, missree I had a show a week ago and am still waiting but I'm not due til 21st I hope it means ill have him a little earlier I'm sooo ready,
Sorry about your fall ghost I'm the most clumsy person in the world but I've been lucky enough not to fall yet but there is still time,
We just had a lovely fry up (not good for the heartburn but yummy) I had a few days nesting last week and need to do most of it again already, it gets such a mess when DH is off as he moans that I'm busy but doesn't do it himself, its like he thinks it will get cleaned by faries at night time and he doesn't realise whaat it takes to keep the place in order he is a mummys boy though and she did everything for him and still does now!
Hope everyone is haaving a lovely saturday x

trubble · 07/01/2012 14:58

Well if anything is due to happen unexpectedly today would be the day. DH has just started installing the loft ladder!! Chaos has erupted. Hopefully we will survive the day with no-one falling through the roof and minimal plaster on the landing and me not going into labour. I've decided the safest option is to steer well clear :)
Just need to figure out what to do to keep myself entertained. I'd bake a cake but the oven has died :( Just what i need really with bubs due on wed!!

Oh well - guess Brew is the only way forward

Congrats to all those who have had their babies Thanks been a while since I posted so there has been lots to catch up on

MissRee · 07/01/2012 15:00

I'm already 7 days overdue Laylasmum, had sweep on Thursday and am 1cm dilated so am hoping the show is a sign of more dilation or that things are on the move Grin

Bellakins · 07/01/2012 15:02

Poor Ghost, hope you're ok now.

MissRee fx it means things will happen for you soon!

I'm having a bit of a down day. Majorly uncomfortable, not sleeping well, itchy bump, heart burn. Only a few days away from my due date but no BH, baby not engaged, just feel like my body doesn't want to prepare to get baby out! Arrrggghh ... rant over. Sorry!

Moobee · 07/01/2012 15:18

Ouch ghost sounds painful, glad you're feeling ok on the whole (apart from the scrapes).

FX for you MissRee!

bellakins I'm the same, due date tomorrow and never had a BH as far as I'm aware, still feel like theres some time to go. :(

We just went for a walk in Port Meadow in Oxford. It's very pretty there and it was nice to enjoy the sunlight. I'm trying to do a slow short walk each day even though it is an effort! Off to a friends for board games and dinner now.

peanuts777 · 07/01/2012 16:56

Gosh you lot are impressive!
Walking and board game nights....By the time, I've cooked supper, bathed the babes and put them to bed It's a done deal for me!
I'm then more wide awake than Timmy Mallet come 23h30 until about 04h00.......Which probably means that babe till be keeping those hours on arrival too Hmm

I'm ready for labour BIG TIME! I know I've got an ELCS booked on the 18th, but I don't honestly think I can stay in one piece until then! I feel like my skin is literally going to split today!?! I did, however, manage a late lunch at Giraffe this afternoon and ate everything and it has so far stayed down. Miracle.

ghost I hope you're ok you poor love. I think a nice warm bath and some soothing witch hazel or arnica cream might be in order? xx

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 07/01/2012 17:04

Is a show basically thick EWM type stuff? Clearish? Just had a good dessert spoonful (sorry if TMI) of that and am being optimistic...

DH is vacillating abou whether to go flying tomorrow or not. He doesn't want to run the risk of missing the birth Hmm I did tell him it's unlikely to go from 0 - baby in an hour and a half...

MissRee · 07/01/2012 17:09

It was more like a jelly snotty type substance. Mine was a bit browny coloured but I assumed that was due to the blood from the sweep I had on thursday!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 07/01/2012 17:15

it was like you describe, but clearish and in 3 bits... I got a bit more each time I wiped (sorry, sorry) Hrm... Oh well, I'll live in hope.

MissRee · 07/01/2012 17:17

Sounds like it to me Grin unfortunately it doesn't necessarily mean anything Sad

FrillyMilly · 07/01/2012 17:43

A show tends to be bloody when labour is very close (as in a day or so). It's normal to lose some none bloody mucus in the build up to labour. It's a good sign that things are getting ready!

addictediam · 07/01/2012 17:56

Cakes when its clear the body can replenish it, if its bloody that's more of an indicator and can mean baby will be here in 2 weeks. I've been having the clear stuff for 5 weeks now :( sorry. to be the bearer of bad news. But keep thinking optimistically. It could also mean babt will come your body may not replenish.

ghosteditor · 07/01/2012 18:04

Thanks for the kind words ladies! I felt so silly, and my wrist hurts a bit now, but nothing serious. I might have a luxurious soak later but SIL is here right now.

On the plus side, I spent ages awake last night with the excitement of frequent HBs and realised that ppm is clearly a nocturnal baby and normally I must just sleep through - that explains the quiet days! All sorts of hiccups, kicks, and stretches...

Watched my team play hockey today in the hope that fresh air and standing around would be useful, can't wait until I can run around again...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 07/01/2012 18:06

Oh God - your poor wrists as well, of course. Still, at least you didn't sprain anything, right?

ghosteditor · 07/01/2012 19:08

Yes, I was really lucky not to do more damage, and esp not to squish the bump. I'm using it as an excuse not to chop veg for dinner or wash up Wink

BigHotMama · 07/01/2012 19:13

Evening ladies

Been for a swim with ds which was lively but a little cold and after an hour the bottom of my bump felt a little sore and it was hurting me to cough so got out and went to Mcdonalds for a strawberry milkshake yummy!

Last night I think I had mild panic like attack woke up sweating feeling like I couldn't breath properly then couldn't get negative birth stories and feelings out of my head so couldn't get back to sleep. Never experienced this before? Is it just anxiety of the birth? Only way I got back to sleep was to strip off naked and take lots of deep breathes. I am feeling scared to go to bed tonight hoping to have an ovaltine to help!

Good to hear some of you having a show surely it's a good sign!

Hope to hear some more birth stories/announcements soon.

Sorry am on my phone but wanted to share, filling nipples may sacre some of these babies out!

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 19:38

Ewww ! Filing nipples! Shock

blueeyedmonster · 07/01/2012 19:47

Glad you are ok ghost!

I never had a show last time at all, a little bit of blood when in labour but that was it! It doesn't sound like I missed much!

I'd love to go swimming BHM but once ds is in bed that's me for the night really, i'm so tired. Bet it's lovely until you ache though.

blueeyedmonster · 07/01/2012 19:48

Ouch filing nipples Shock

peanuts777 · 07/01/2012 20:08

Has anybody done an elective cesarean birth plan?
I am stuck, as I was planning on having a vaginal delivery, but I'm thinking that I should do one. Do you have a lot of options with an ELCS?

Oeisha · 07/01/2012 20:11

Please tell me you mean fiddling....though, having just had to eat standing up leaning forward because someone kicked me so painfully I nearly threw up the small amount of dinner I had eaten, maybe nipple filing's not that bad. If I don't eat before about 7 (which I would have if she'd not gone BSM) I tend to suffer BADLY at night, so wanted dinner in asap. From how green and in pain I felt, and from DHs reaction to the situation, I think he's just had a small glimpse into how bloody uncomfy this is.

Just asked DH if he'd mind doing a home c-section. He concluded it wasn't practical because we only had plastic or wooden hangers... Hmm

Sorry to hear of everyone's woes.

Also been having clear snotty stuff, but have assumed it's insignificant as I'm just not that lucky.

Just a bit more 'rest' pre-bath and then I can soak. Again, too quick after food and I'll feel terrible...oh and sod, Bo-Bar peed in the little hallway thingy, allover my shoes (3 pairs, inc. suede boots, good going!)...and they're now all dripping dry in the shower...another thing to sort before bath... Sad
