Fish I'm not at all a woo hippy type, but firmly believe that the moon can affect people as can the time of year they are born (I dont agree with limping a whole lot of people under the category Leo for eg and saying they are all the same) but do believe nature has alot do do with your personality

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 09:25

If it's any consolation fish, when my mum was in labour with me; she didn't realise until her waters broke and I started coming out. She thought she was just constipated - I nearly came in the ambulance. Mind you, it was a slightly different world then. My dad had to walk from phone box to phone box to phone for an ambulance and couldn't get through to 999 for 3 different phone boxes as they were all on a tea break.

My mum's not around to state her case any more but my dad reckons she was in denial and my OH thinks that you can't possibly mistake constipation for labour. I'm with my mother on this one - as is my step-mother (who has at least been in labour twice).

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 09:28

pressed "post" again too early - don't know what is the matter with me today!

I was going to finish by saying - so tell that to your DH and see if he takes it more seriously!

I've been singing Duran Duran all morning... "New Moon on Monday" - make it stop Blush

shonnomanom · 07/01/2012 09:48

Oh I quite fancy a new moon baby. In fact I would a any day before Friday baby right now.

Nanny01 · 07/01/2012 10:33

Hi every one calling in to see how you are all doing. I am recovering nicely now and agree I just wanted ds out at the end. He was a wee thing really 6lb 13 0z but carrying him around wore me out. At least on the outside there are helpers to hold and entertain him for me.

Moobee · 07/01/2012 10:53

Milkyways - it's nice that there's another Jan 8th person now! :) our due date is tomorrow, eeeee!

I've had no BHs, no imminent signs though. I'm a bit worried as I was telling them to stag put over Christmas and New Year, they may have decided to stay put for good. Confused

My hospital bag is also mainly full off snacks. We have those small juice cartons with straws so someone else can help me with them, lots of chocolate and before we go, we'll be taking more savoury foods too. I've heard flapjacks are good.

I was also thinking of baking a cake - it could be a birthday cake.

I really want the baby out before Friday now.

Nanny, good to hear you're recovering nicely. Did you say you're in Reading (I think you mentioned a Reading hospital)? That's not so far from me (a short train hop), perhaps once the baby's born and we're upto it we could meet for coffee. :)

MilkywaysAndBump · 07/01/2012 11:12

Oh poo!! I just checked what the moon phase was on DD's due date, and it was full moon the day before....she ended up coming two weeks later and I was induced....This time the full moon is a day after my due date. I don't think the moon theory works on me :(

All this talk of cakes is making me crave some cake now! Might make one now with DD!

fishandlilacs · 07/01/2012 11:17

any of you new ladies to the thread want to join the fb group pls PM your name or email address and i'll add you.

fishandlilacs · 07/01/2012 11:18

and thanks to cakes for making me admin too xx

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 07/01/2012 11:24

Who wanted Cakes? I'm here! ;)

I always go a bit loopy on the full moon, so I'm obviously susceptible to it, let's hope Sproglet is too...

supadupapupascupa · 07/01/2012 11:28

my dh was born the day before new moon!!!

supadupapupascupa · 07/01/2012 11:29

wait....are we talking new moons or full moons lol Grin

fishandlilacs · 07/01/2012 11:30

goodness me parsley I really hope i get a bit of notice-what would I do with dd if that happened to me. I guess the abulance wouldn't drop her at my friends.

shonnomanom · 07/01/2012 12:12

OK so iv checked all of us against the full moon calendar. None of us were born anywhere near a full moon. Hope this baby decides to break family tradition. Pppplllleeeeaaasssseeeee!

MissRee · 07/01/2012 12:23

Ewwwweeeeeeee big globules of gunk in my panties.... guessing that's the plug then Grin yuk yuk yuk!!!

addictediam · 07/01/2012 12:25

Argghh now I'm annoyed. Fish I stole your photo of the religion chart, thinking it was funny (I'm a 'mormon' as are most of my fb friends) and one of my younger cousins is telling ms off (via pm) as she doesn't think its appropriate. Some people just need to learn to laugh at themselves. Its obviously not serious its a JOKE.
GAH!

Sorry just needed to rant somewhere.

addictediam · 07/01/2012 12:31

Oh oh oh missree sounds promising!

tigana · 07/01/2012 12:46

hello all. Hoovering the picture rail etc has not lead smoothly into labour...i'm still here, now officially overdue [grump] and still getting gentle, well intentioned texts from people...[double grump].

misree that is a good sign ( just had to go and correct that as I had typed "goo sign"...appropriately!!)...I've been slowly losing lots of yuk in the last couple of days, FX.

Karmanna · 07/01/2012 12:55

Afternoon all! Hope you're all well.

My bump was so tense and absolutely massive last night and was getting really strong and slightly painful BH's, but today my bump has literally halved in size - what does that mean? I'm so confused with the constant changes. Wish I had some patience but so bored of it now!

Missree fingers crossed something's starting to happen for you!

ghosteditor · 07/01/2012 13:00

Hi ladies, what a beautiful day! DH and I just went for a walk around the lake to take advantage of the weather. Unfortunately I massively decked out about 5 mins after we set off - my weak ankle went over due to my enormous weight, which is the second time that's happened to me in the pregnancy Blush. It stopped traffic and everything Blush. DH couldn't quite catch me in time so was a bit alarmed! I do fall a lot because of hockey so I landed on hands and knees, so bump is fine, but the grazes on my hands hurt, as does all the swelling. I'm so embarrassed Sad.

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 13:01

Fx missree that it's a sign of imminence Smile

ParsleyLion1 · 07/01/2012 13:03

Oo x post ghost ouch Sad

I think we have to resign ourselves to no dignity anymore Wink

ghosteditor · 07/01/2012 13:15

You're right parsley, I should have given up on dignity on entering the third trimester!

Good luck missree, sounds promising.

I was having HBs/contractions (uncomfortable but not painful) from late last night until about 8am, and they were strong enough to keep me awake for a couple of hours. They were v regular too -8-9 minute frequency - but no other signs so looks like it's just my body getting ready. Tedious now...

Karmanna · 07/01/2012 13:26

Oh no ghost! I've stopped even attemptimg walks at this stage as my back packs in after 10 minutes. Unfortunately not being active just makes the waiting feel so much longer! :(

MissRee · 07/01/2012 13:27

I had that the other night ghost - it's very frustrating, isn't it!! Hopefully it at least did something to "ripen" the cervix ready for the real thing Grin

Fx for all of us with symptoms and gunk Grin
