I also forgot to add, I'm super-mental. Still got headache, so kinda lost patience with my boys and let them out...now fretting because it's bloody terrible out there...one's back in, and hopefully the inept scrabbling I hear at the catflap is the other one...
...it is! Grin.
Wind seems to have dropped a bit in lat 10mins too, maybe...hopefully...
Maybe I could possibly get some sleep, maybe???

FrillyMilly · 05/01/2012 07:00

Good luck today worm

I was surprised when DD wasnt crying. I had a natural birth and she was handed straight to me. Even though she was looking at me I still asked was it normal that she wasn't crying. I think it was a good sign as she was a very placid baby (shame not a placid toddler!!).

ParsleyLion1 · 05/01/2012 07:28

Morning ladiesGrin

2 more days to go to ML Smile though I may get blown to work today!

Good luck worm hope all goes well. Will be thinking of you x

No news from m2b yet?

Also not seen cakes for a bit.

Oeisha · 05/01/2012 07:29

Oops, I may have just lost it with some stupid woman moaning that her DH is cross because she's tired, yet she's pandering to him by staying up late (and todler wrangling during the day)...was I too harsh by calling her "mental"??? THIS THREAD

addictediam · 05/01/2012 08:05

Nope, I agree with you oeisha. If your tired go to bed, I dont understand this sulking thing, but that may be because my dh is an adult and also does his fair share of night wakings with dd, possibly more than his fair share since I got pregnant. But i feel i may be flamed if I said that on the thread!

peanuts777 · 05/01/2012 08:57

Good luck today girls xx

Spagbolagain · 05/01/2012 09:04

Morning all, 1 day overdue now and no signs yet.
Congrats and good luck respectively to various people upthread, sorry haven't posted in a couple of days. Hope all goes well worm

Found another good programme called Home Birth diaries, it's on early afternoons on Discovery home and health or whatever it's called (only on sky/virgin I think though). First programme I have seen about homebirth, but I'd say it's good to watch if you are interested in natural/ active birth in hospital, not just homebirth. Of course some end up in hospital anyway, but lots of footage of active birth and water birth.

Saw a bit of OBEM, but tbh I find it a bit depressing - although the births themselves are fascinating, and I watch a bit for that, some of the rest of it feels a bit Jeremy Kyle voyeuristic; not sure it does any favours to the people who volunteer to take part.

Re pumps I have the medela swing which I used a fair bit with DS. I wasn't great at expressing tbh, took me about 4goes to get a feed, and after a few months DS refused to take a bottle anyway. But quite handy when starting to wean, can make porridge etc with BM.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/01/2012 09:13

Hey Parsley - still here, still reading, but had busy couple of days and had my mum to vent talk to, so haven't been letting it out on here so much... Had hysterics last night because I cuouldn't get comfortable any way I sat or lay - think Dh was grateful she was here to pick up the pieces instead of him.

Had 38 wk GP appt yesterday. Everything good, baby about 3/5 engaged, but I SWEAR he's a yoyo not a baby because he feels a lot higher again today. Oh well.

39 weeks today. Seems interminable...

shonnomanom · 05/01/2012 09:16

Morning ladies

Good luck to those getting newborn cuddles today!

I'm feeling stupidly sorry for myself this morning. As I type my sister is in theatre having the twins. I always envisaged meeting the twins for the 1st time as a mum of 2, not as a overdue whale on sticks with a 3yo.
Just ignore me

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/01/2012 09:16

Oh - and congrats to Nanny, good luck to Worm and thinking of everyone, just can't remember who's doing what.

And my TV is dead :( The wind has taken down the landlord's Sky satellite which we are reliant on for telly, so wasn;t able to watch OBEM or anything else. Going to be rotten when my mum goes home tonight...

Glad we have plans tomorrow ghost - you still on for it?

fishandlilacs · 05/01/2012 09:18

morning,

thinking of you today worm-I have a feeling that will be me in less than 2 weeks as this boy of mine seems very comfy where he is.

oiesha sorrt the headaches not much better-maybe you are sickening for something with the armpits glands and all that. I'm gonna check out that thread in a bit-I aslo posted a thread up about my barmy mother and father yesterday. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1375832-Am-i-being-pregnant-and-over-sensitive I'm still annoyed with them and in the night I remembered something else that she said that also made me cross. When they arrived yesterday hey saw a cereal box aquarium that me and DD made in the mornings and she said "you're mummy missed her vocation-she should have been a infant school teacher" ...ER MUM I AM a TEACHER! Ok I never got there by the normal route and the places I teach in aren't infant schools but how the f does that qualify as missing my vocation. She's so weird. But I am also mental so i am not saying anything. I have the severe grumps. DH said he felt that i was sad yesterday-i'm not sad i'm just tired of lumping this huge weight around.

addicted im very glad I turned OBEM off in that case-i have worked with too many teenage parents like that-would have been a total busmans holiday. I had afeeling he was going to be twunt-he made it all about him from the start.

Did the school run ok, but answered my own question regarding the walk there-the walk from carpark to playground and back almost bloody killed me-my pulse was way up and I almost immediately got serious pelvis pain and couldn't breathe. Car for me.

MissRee · 05/01/2012 09:27

Ooooooof.... am tired this morning! Been dozing on and off since the early hours with some rather interesting pelvic/period/back type pain which is coming and going. No particular frequency and I didn't mention it to DP who has now gone to work (he would have wanted to stay with me but I don't think it's worth it yet iykwim). Just laying in bed at the moment trying to get comfy - it seems to ease if I wedge myself on my back.

Defo something to mention to the MW this afternoon - hopefully it's something and not nothing!!!!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 05/01/2012 09:34

3 more days then my lovely MW is back off leave and the baby will be getting the full force of my 'get outta my womb' thoughts...

MissRee - keeping fx for you, though am very jealous of your not feeling the discomforts of this stage of pregnancy.

Heh, I posted about being 39 weeks and my friend who gave birth at 34 weeks commented to say there's not long left now - I told her I wasn't talking to her any more! lol. Hope she takes it as it's intended...

ghosteditor · 05/01/2012 09:38

Good luck to your sister sho and of course hope today goes well for you worm!

Crazy weather here - I don't get scared by the weather but of course it's bin day so I was fretting that the neighbourhood bins would be bashing my car etc. in fact it looks like my bin fell over onto my car, but all's ok. Lost a lid though and it only arrive two weeks ago. Gosh, I have too much time to chat about trivial things on maternity leave!!!

Slept well last night, feel much better again. Ppm has been quiet lately so am focussing on counting this morning...

And cakes yes definitely on for tomorrow at 11am, Tesco cafe yet? Hopefully we can find somewhere a bit more fun in the long run Wink

peanuts777 · 05/01/2012 09:47

Breast pumps: I have the Medela double electric pump now which I am feeling positive about, although have obviously not tried yet. Last two babes I used the medela lactaline which was superb for getting the milk out, but was a touch uncomfortable and felt somewhat mechanical and didn't help with feeling less "bovine" so to speak. It is hard and plasticky, with no bells and whistles. In spite of that, my let down responded well and it was fast and efficient, easy to clean and that's what it's all about at the end of the day.

I would have used it again, but I leant it to a friend who unfortunately leant it to somebody else and on and on............

abeautifulbutterfly · 05/01/2012 10:20

Miss Ree sounds like sth is deffo going on, since you've been feeling so good up to now! Good luck :)

Worm, hope all goes well! Are your girls excited or are they too old and cool for a baby sibling? Mine are just mental with impatience at the mo, but are much younger (6.5 and 8).

Shonno hope your sister's CS goes well. Would you now prefer to go a few more days so as not to be "overshadowed", or are you desperate to have your own. I got so broody as a couple of tinies were wheeled past me yesterday onthe Mat Ward that I nearly blubbed on the MW who was showing me round Grin...

How have I missed Nanny's announcement? Can't see it on the HBG page - is it on her own status just? Congratulations to you anyway, Nanny, and can't wait to hear more Thanks.

Good luck to all of you in labour/CSing today!

As for breast pumps, I have been given a hand one and that's it for me. With DD1 I hired an electric one once when I had oversupply and wanted to freeze some, but I found the milk had a bitter taste after freezing that worried me, so chucked it all away (and DD1 could never be persuaded to take a bottle in the end anyway). After that if I had oversupply I just hand-expressed the bare minimum so as not to encourage it further. I hate expressing.

Looks like we have finally got the gales you have been having. Not hurricane strength but very blustery... Roof is rattling.

Have had DH at home since the NY, is lovely to see him winding down and destressing after being so overworked and stressed for so long. Not to mention the extra help and company around the house Smile. I am one happy bunny.

MissRee · 05/01/2012 10:55

I was hoping so butterfly but now I've got up, it's all stopped :(

fishandlilacs · 05/01/2012 11:32

just had a quick lie down on the bed after dropping dd off, fell into a really really deep sleep and the postman woke me up by opening the front door-he'd been knocking but i'd not heard. I was a bit freaked out though.

He also just rescued my bins for me which was sweet but I had to dive out again 5 mins later to rescue them again. Now put some bricks in the bottom and put them in the garage. Probably quite amusing to watch a woman of my state of pregnancy wrestle two dustbins as long as youre not the pregnant woman in question. I am in a BAD MOOD now after being woken so suddenly then having to do that. I have a headache. Grrr and humph. I will raise a smile in a minute I promise but right now i'm a bit snarly. Good job i'm on my own.

Capybara · 05/01/2012 11:37

MissRee, I've had period/pelvic/back pain on and off since Monday eve and no sign of LO - cervix is apparently still high and closed - think it may just be one more delightful feature of late pregnancy :( Trying to take as little paracetamol as possible, but I fear I'm about to weaken and have one...back is really killing me!

GiraffeAHolic · 05/01/2012 11:47

Just popped on to say.....

Baby boy born yesterday at 17:17 weighing 9lbs1 Shock Smile

fishandlilacs · 05/01/2012 11:51

Whoop Whoop Congrats on baby Giraffe xx

Name?

MissRee · 05/01/2012 11:52

Congratulations Giraffe!!!!! Grin

ghosteditor · 05/01/2012 12:13

Congrats giraffe, that's wonderful!!

abeautifulbutterfly · 05/01/2012 12:24

Wow! Well done, great news! Have lovely, lovely cuddles!

Karmanna · 05/01/2012 13:10

Woohoo - congratulations Giraffe!!! How exciting! :) Do you have a name yet?

I was feeling very positive about things after my mw appointment on Monday. Apparently Duckie was 4/5 engaged, and I was getting pains in my pelvis and strong BH's and the top of my bump was feeling softer as if he'd moved down. However, the last couple of days I think he might have moved as I can feel kicks behind my ribs again. :( I bet I'll be the last person standing on this thread!

Btw, can someone post the link to the stats thread as I dont know where to find it?

Good luck to everyone who's approaching labour - I'm jealous!
