Thanks fish, sounds good!

rednosedreindeerhead · 04/01/2012 20:29

congrats nanny Smile

anyone going to watch One Born Every Minute.....?

tigana · 04/01/2012 20:34

missree iirc I was similar with ds - overdue by 8 days but don't remember being as chronically uncomfy as I am now ( due on 6th).

MW appt tomorrow...sweep planned. And to think...when she said she'd do a sweep at 39+6 if I wanted, way back before christmas, I thought...'bet I don't get that far...' Hmm Grin.

tigana · 04/01/2012 20:35

if DH was out I would watch obem... but it's not really his cup of tea...and probably unfair to make him sit through it.

fishandlilacs · 04/01/2012 20:51

I have never watched OBEM before-not really my sort of thing but I may try it tonight.

I have a dilemma-do I attempt the walk to school and back tomorrow or drive. To walk it at normal speed it takes 6 minutes, it's a flat walk-doing that there and back at least once but maybe twice a day is ideal excercise for a pregnant woman. 30 minutes a day etc and may well get baby on his way which would be ideal-However with the SPD i'm not sure that walking is recommended. I'm finding it hard to stand for very long while at home and i'n pain when i do get up from sitting but once I get moving it's not too bad. Obviously I wont be walking at normal rate-i'm thinking of allowing at least 15 minutes to do it in plus i can use my crutches as well but in recent weeks I haven't walked that far at all and even going round the supermarket is utterly exhausting-bump just feels so huge.

I just don't know what to do

shonnomanom · 04/01/2012 21:04

Sorry about your mums health worries mz

missR Dont worry too much about the sweep hurting. I think its all in the technique. The consultant who done mine last week hurt like hell at the time but I felt ok afterwards. Where as the mw that done it again today didnt hurt me too much at the time but now im walking like John Wayne.

Hope you start to feel better soon addicted

Good luck tommorrow worm, my sister is having her twins tommorrow. Very exciting day!

Thanks for keeping the list up to date fish

Well I had the MW today and she repeated the sweep. Nothing has changed since last week although baby is according to notes 4/5engaged, im reading that as still got 4 to go iykwim.
She has booked my induction for Friday 13th. Hopefully I wont get that far.

3days overdue now and everyone and their aunty is getting in contact with 'tips' on how to jump start labour. Angry I was 8 days over with dd so im not concerned as such. Really dont fancy being induced though.

Hope everyone is comfy and well x

shonnomanom · 04/01/2012 21:08

Sorry xpost fish
Im in a similar position although dd's nursery doesnt go back til Monday.

Are you dropping off and picking up dd? If so I would do the walk in the morning and if that was too bad I would drive to collect her in the afternoon.

Before the Christmas break, on the days that DP couldnt take her, I would drive her and head stright to my mums for a cuppa then head back to collect her.

FrillyMilly · 04/01/2012 21:17

fish DD starts pre school tomorrow and I'm going in the car. It's about a 15 min walk but with a 3 year old and my dodgy hip it could take a lot longer. Plus factoring in the weather and that I've been getting about 4 hours sleep I think I'm justified in using the car. I feel so lazy though!

MissRee · 04/01/2012 21:19

Thanks for the reassurance sho I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing Grin

Ooooh friday 13th for induction? Eek... I'll keep everything crossed you go naturally long before then Wink I refused Friday 13th for my induction and went for 11th instead. I'm not normally superstitious... Blush

So far today I've had recommendations of pineapple and cod liver oil for bringing on labour. Yesterday was bouncing on my ball whilst drinking RLT and eating curry. It's getting a bit boring now Grin

shonnomanom · 04/01/2012 21:23

Im not superstitious at all. The mw did try and get it earlier but what with 4 bank holidays in the last fortnight and a local baby boom their struggling to get everyone in on time.
Really hoping to have baby home by the 13th fx

MissRee · 04/01/2012 21:27

You'd think that weekends/bank holidays would be business as usual when it comes to maternity, wouldn't you? After all, these bubbies don't understand the concept that the maternity unit may not be as fully staffed as usual Wink

ParsleyLion1 · 04/01/2012 21:28

fish I'd be inclined to drive in the morning and maybe test it out in the afternoon if you really want to but maybe drive both. The problem with PGP is that if you do too much it might ease up at the time but you will probably pay for it later. At least if you test it in the afternoon and it flares up it will only be the evening that is an issue rather than all day.

Oeisha · 04/01/2012 21:33

Congrats to nanny! Thanks and baby! Bear

re:breat pump. I've been told not to bother for the first while to avoid nipple confusion. Give it a couple of weeks, then you'll be established, or not by then...was MWs advice and many Mums advice to me.

As for OBEM - we nearly watched it. DH gave me the remote, I left it on 4, as I coulnd't be arsed to find anything else...I then got a "Why are we watching this shit, I gave you the remote to find something else to watch"...yeah, thanks...stroppy bastard...think he's getting the nearly-due-grump! I sat through 2 twatty jerks fopping about with bread and pies whilst he had the remote, then I get growled at after 20 seconds of OBEM (which I have no interest in incidentally). Would seem I'm getting it too...maybe it's spreading

Still have headache with flashing light. It's getting a bit old now - 4 friggin days, or something like that. Exercise, increasing fluids, watching what I eat religously (for migraine triggers), nothing's helped. Even tried some Dr P. Helped a bit, but I can't keep drinking it, else it will, in itself cause a migraine Biscuit

FX for all those out there with stuff happening. One irritating thing about the "migraine" is I'm even more forgetful...so apologies if I've missed anything.

fishandlilacs · 04/01/2012 21:33

Thats a good plan Parsley I do want to walk because I think it will gets bubs on his way. If the weather remains like it is now we'll be driving anyway. brrr.

Mind you if tonights HB's get any stronger then he's on his way, tomorrow morning may be moot point :) having some real gooduns tonight but sadly with no regularity.

fishandlilacs · 04/01/2012 21:35

I really wanted to watch OBEM too, but the annoying teenage twit in the beginning pissed me off so much I was grinding my teeth before we even got to the birthing part. I'm so not interested in watching stupid chavvy idiots.

MissRee · 04/01/2012 21:41

Ladies, are HBs more common/worse during subsequent pregnancies???? I had a few early on in pregnancy but haven't had ANYTHING for about 10 weeks now...

Oeisha · 04/01/2012 21:48

missree My HBs seem to have 'faded', I asked MW about it, and she said "you're just a lot bigger and tighter in the tum, you aren't feeling them as much because everything's already squished out the way". Having been on the CTG last week and seen them happen, they are, just don't feel like they used to.

Fuck it, I'm off to bed.

Here's to a restful night for us all!

MissRee · 04/01/2012 21:53

Ahhh I see :)

Night night, sleep well :) x

ghosteditor · 04/01/2012 22:12

Oeisha, that's interesting about HBs; I've had a really good run of them but thought they'd decreased a lot over the last few days, so I 'd prefer to assume I'm just not noticing as much.

I did watch OBEM and I shed some tears! I'm from near Leeds originally so it's all very familiar, but my word I felt for that boy who had such a short fuse. With the best intentions in the world, he's going to struggle to calm down enough to be a responsible parent. Sad. and the 18 year old who was sucking her thumb - she just seemed so young!!! The babies though... the babies were wonderful Smile

rednosedreindeerhead · 04/01/2012 22:18

I'm with you ghost always love OBEM just because however scary/difficult/gross the birth is, the actual bit where the baby comes out is ALWAYS, ALWAYS magical. Even to me and I'm not particularly sentimental or baby mad. I just love a bit of human amazingness. cried my eyes out. look like i've got tiny peas for eyes now.

addictediam · 04/01/2012 22:24

Fish the teenage twit didn't get any better, imo he was just a selfish bastard who needed a good kick up the arse to realise its not about what he wants but about whats best for mummy and baby. (she was taken to theater, very scared to have forcepts used, asked her mum to be there, he kicked off. Then baby wasnt breathing was wisked off to neonatal before mum even got to see him and yet again he kicked off Angry)

Well that little rant made me feel better :o

Wrt breast pumps I have an Avent manual one, they were highly recommended on here not long ago, so when I saw it in Asda for £4.50 Shock I couldn't walk away! I'm hoping to express enough so dh can do some night feeds and I also dont think I'll be overly comfortable bf in public and quite nervous about that. But for £4.50 even of we don't get the hang of it, its not like we've lost big bucks!

Fish I second the walk there idea and see how you feel in the afternoon, although in the morning you may feel diffrently.

Having taken some paracetomal for rib flare and my swollen/painful glands, and then avoiding trigger foods I'm feeling so much more positive :o still quite tired, but I can deal with that. I was starting to get quite parinoid and panicky thinking people were judging me worried about pnd/and. But now I've worked ouy what is going on I can work through the feelings rationally!

Someone asked about wedding rings, I had to remove mine during dds pregnancy and had only been wearing them around a week when I fell pg again, my hands puffed up quite quickly so had to take them off again before i. was out of the first trimester :( dh bought me some new ones for Christmas :) nothing expensive - infact it was 2 rings one being the wedding band and one half an eternity engagement both silver cubic zercona (sp?) for £15! (That's for the both not each) Now I feel married again. So if any of you wanted to replace for a bigger size, argos is the place to go!

ghosteditor · 04/01/2012 23:00

Addicted you're right about the boy from OBEM - I felt awful for him as it must be terrible to be ruled by a crazy temper like that but the fact is that he's an adult with responsibilities now and he really needs to get himself sorted. Like resitting his GCSEs for example Hmm. And his parents didn't have a clue how to help him. I hope the girl has a calming effect on him...

But ultimately, yes, what wonderful squishy wonderful new babies Smile

addictediam · 05/01/2012 03:05

Yes lovely squishy babies, I cried at both births Blush

Incedently it bought back memories of dds birth. For thoes of you first timers, babies dont always cry when they are born. When dd came out, they placwd her on me and she was silent Confused I thought all babies cried/had to cry, I was panicing asking what was wrong with her, they tried to reassure me it was ok, and actually normal, she was breathing etc, they took her to check her over and I panicked even more as i couldn't hear her! I had my mum and dh try and reassure me it was ok she was breathing and moving, but in my post labour groggy state I was convinced she wasnt breathing as she hadn't cried Blush. It was when dh was dressing her ready for the ward she first screamed and I'll admit, that's when I breathed a sigh of relief (and possibly even started crying hysterically again

So you should know, don't trust the tv programmes, not all babies cry when they are born and it is normal, it doesn't mean there is necessarily anything wrong!

Wormshuffler · 05/01/2012 05:20

Ok so I am up and nil by mouth since 10pm last night. Allowed water until 6am, so I am currently sitting drinking hot water in the hope I can fool my body into thinking it's tea!

I couldnt bring myself to watch OBEM, I have taped it. The DC's have stayed at my as last night as we need to be away by 7AM and the house feels so empty without them, even though they would still be asleep anyway.

Congrats to Nanny Thanks
and sending birthing vibes to you ladies in labour.

Oeisha · 05/01/2012 06:48

OK, been awake for 3h now. A combination of a VERY active Abi and the wind. Trying not to freak out about how active she is...as I'm guessing it's only because I'm awake to count that I've counted IYSWIM. Still, she's near 100 movements already and she's got til 5pm to go! That's a fair number up...though she is usually most active between 2000 and 1100.

Have also noticed swollen armpit glands. Maybe that explains why I feel so headachey!?

worm I hope the mind-trickery worked! and FX.. Grin
