Lemoncake! Cavacake! You tease me with your sugary gorgeousness.

Back to hospital today to see dietitian and doc and review the last few days. Seem to have been ok for lunch and dinner but morning level is always higher than it should be and after porridge. Hmm.

I know what you mean about the unthinking extra bits we usually slip in; there is a cafe where I work and they always give away the leftover pains au choc and cookies.

We're getting quite busy in here again, although it's understandably quiet after the sad outcomes for Bugs and North. Hope the rest of you are all doing well (flashes at Jewels if she's still lurking).

Northey · 23/08/2012 10:34

I am still lurking, if that's ok though. Just till you drop off my active convos. And because I want to see lem and faif settle in.

Northey · 23/08/2012 10:35

Also because you are talking about cake, and I can never resist that.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/08/2012 10:48

OMG familiar phases faces.

Thanks to smoochy kisser cake. I saw you when you popped into the BESH to announce you win.

Sorry about the cake-nick blonde, but I would not recognise myself otherwise! And I do love a good cake. I think I might bake tonight...

I feel absolutely fine, no smell in overdrive, no sickness (just a bit off when I haven't eaten for all of two hours, but that goes when I eat). My most notable symptoms are lack of blood (still surprised at every loo visit) and waking up in the middle of the night, all the time (with many opportunities to check down there) and then not getting back to sleep. But then I am only just past 4 weeks - know already because of IUI and associated blood testing for those PESH who don't know me.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/08/2012 10:49

Not that I have a say, norf but you're always very welcome wherever I waste time I should spent finishing work for The Old Job.

CamelKnees · 23/08/2012 15:13

Hola PESH and recently graduated BESH
God I feel shite
Think diffedness has sunk in now = good
But I feel like I've been hit by a bus = bad
Sure I didn't feel this god awful this early with DD

On the plus side have just had a call from Drs to say my blood test from last week has come back (re virus DD had which I have therefore been exposed to and can cause birth defects if caught in pregnancy). Results are good. Apparently I had it when I was a kid so am immune. Beyond relieved. Feel like can start settling in as a new PESH finally.

Soz for rambling. On phone and trying v hard not to vom.

cakeandcava · 23/08/2012 17:01

Hello camel and welcome :) (I've been inappropriately smooching all newcomers this last week, so here's one for you too!)

I don't think we've 'met' -I am cakes, 31 weeks (gah!), was a proper BESH about a year and a half ago or so, got diffed, had a mc, and needed a break from mn. Got diffed again (obviously) and been back here for a few months now.

It's lovely to see the thread getting busy again! Commiserations to all the vommers -have you tried ginger biscuits? Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 23/08/2012 17:04

Welcome camel. I am much the same. Managed to scrape an ice lolly from the freezer at work today so managed a bag of crisps and banana custard without puking. Then I had a meeting where I sat in an office next to a vase of lillies. Oh the smell. Made it back to my office, had a sip of water and off I went again! The worst smell has to be the staff changing room. Oh the smell of work shoes removed after a long shift Envy [boak]

camel what's your due date?

I'm waiting in the docs to tell them the good news :) and ask about my medication and surgery.

Hope the appointment went ok blonder.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/08/2012 17:14

Oh I meant to ask about that faif, I hope they can make a plan that involves neither pain nor surgery until after April :)

So sorry for all the puking - I am just hungry and sleepy. No real change from a normal day with and early morning swim

FriendofDorothy · 23/08/2012 17:27

Hello people. Just popping in from the comfort of a Premier Inn having been camping for 5 nights. It was fine other than having to piss outside the tent at night due to the loos being too far away!

Got an email yesterday from my cousin and his wife who, after 4 years of TTC, are pregnant after having IVF. I am feeling guiltily envious though as they are having twins and I was secretly desperate to have twins. Feeling a bit meh because of the way I am feeling at the moment about it.

I am seriously grateful for being pregnant at all, but I hope you guys understand what I mean!

CamelKnees · 23/08/2012 18:06

Hi cakes I've never been one to turn down a snog (well recently yes but not so much in my misspent yoof), so nice to meet you!

Sorry to gear about the MC. Huge congrats on being 31 weeks though - how awesome to be on the home straight. Am quite jealous! How's it all been? Thanks for the ginger biscuits recommendation. This must be the only time in my life I'm gutted that i cant bear ginger... The smell makes me heave even when not up diffed. Wine gums currently helping somewhat.

Totally forgot about intros - how completely rude of me! 34 married to (HY) Hairy Yorkshireman. 1 hard won DD aged 2.5. Luckier this time, and of course BESH kept me amused during the wait.

faif EDD is 22 April I think. Which means u am the grand total of 5+3. 12 weeks seems a lifetime away! What's your due date? And you lemon?

Dot - Don't feel guilty for being a bit Envy about IVF twins. Totally understandable, and if course the fault of blasted hormones. I have a close friend with clomid twins. Go and see them in the first month and you'll definitely feel less envious!

CamelKnees · 23/08/2012 18:06

Sorry for shit typing. Doing sneak MNetting in the kitchen on my phone

blonderthanred · 23/08/2012 18:21

Oh I secretly wanted twins too. Or not so secretly! Two friends have had twins in last year. Not so envious of the IVF process though.

So lovely to see the PESH thread buzzing and blooming. It's cheered me up to read through it.

Unfortunately appt didn't go too well. Blood sugar during day is fine but in morning it spikes and they've said I can't control that through diet so have put me on metformin. I nearly cried but held it together. I have tried so hard to have a natural, healthy pregnancy and hate the thought of putting drugs into my system esp as they cross the placenta. But it's more important to address the issues so the little one isn't struggling inside. Saw dietitian, doctor and nurse and have weekly appts with various experts booked. They may induce at 38 weeks but if the growth is ok I should still be able to have a natural birth.

Sorry for the long speech but I needed to process that a bit. I am probably going to go and have a bit of a cry now.

FriendofDorothy · 23/08/2012 18:45

I think because they think we probably were pregnant with twins and lost one at 8 weeks I feel particularly envious. I want to whinge 'it should be me!!!!!!'

blonderthanred · 23/08/2012 19:07

That's fair enough Dor. I think I'd feel like that too, it doesn't take anything away from the fact that you are going to have a lovely healthy bouncing amazing baybee.

cakeandcava · 23/08/2012 19:35

Oh blondie that majorly sucks -I'm sorry you're having to go down that route, but really, it's not your fault! Bodies and their functions do get messed up in pregnancy, it's a good thing that we have access to care and knowledge of how to deal with it in the safest possible ways.

Incidentally, I've just been reading through a thread with positive induction stories (not that you'll necessarily be doing that anyway) -it makes it sound not that bad at all!

Regarding twins - I really thought this was going to be happening to us when we went through the pre-IVF stuff. We had the 'one at a time' leaflets and the advice about single or double embryo transfer, and had kind of decided on double -which would have given us a very high chance of twins if successful.
When I diffed naturally (although I was of course over the moon) I did feel weird pangs of regret for my non-existent twins... Hope you feel better soon Dor! Just thing about your amazing lovely baybee that you'll be able to give all your attention to! :)

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/08/2012 19:36

Sorry about the drugs blonde. But needs must. Hope you'll feel ok on them and that the baybee does very well!

Sorry about the possible lost twin dot and about the jealousy.

EDD here is another 6 days behind you camel, MN tells me it will be April 28th. But all of that is too scary for me right now. Just counting down to scan in week 8...

Did I introduce myself? I don't think so. Both of us 33, over two years of TTC, unexplained IF. It's a hard-won, unnatural diff Wink. IUI with SO (injectables), two eggs, a measly number of sperm (GRR to SkinnyBint) and a Fairly Faint Positive on Monday, and excellent HCG numbers at the clinic's blood test on Tuesday :)

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 23/08/2012 19:39

Oh and re:twins, I'll have no idea until the scan, but I have thought of the two eggs as "the twins" since IUI. The HCG was good, really high, but not so much so that they expect there to be too...

But we went away for the weekend and were trapped on a train with the worst behaved twins in the history of mankind, so SB is a bit panicked about it possibly being twins... I would love the fact we'd never have to TTC again. But I would probably die of exhaustion and fail terribly at my new and exciting job (which I started the day after the twins-IUI).

CamelKnees · 23/08/2012 20:28

blonde hi! Totally get why you're upset re GD. Fingers crossed that the drugs and monitoring do the trick so that you can have the natural birth you've planned.

dor that is definitely fair enough re the twin thing. Do youind me asking why they thought there were 2?

lemon oooh I'm jealous re your 8 week scan. Wondering whether to book an early one privately....

There must be something really difficult about spending all that tIme getting your head around the possibility Of twins and then that not being the outcome you end up with. For me that was why TTC was so bloody draining - if I've spent time weighing up the pros and cons and then make a decision I want that decision to materialise...and errrr now please

blonderthanred · 23/08/2012 20:34

Camel do you not want to snog me? I am hurt.

CamelKnees · 23/08/2012 20:35

Ha! I am always up for a snog but didn't want to be presumptuous Wink
I'll pinch your bum while we're at it to make it up to you

FriendofDorothy · 23/08/2012 21:38

We thought there was 2 because I had a really bad red bleed at 8 weeks and the suggestion was that there was 2 embryos. We had taken Clomid so it was a genuine concern.

FriendofDorothy · 23/08/2012 21:39

lemons, when did you sneak in?

blonderthanred · 23/08/2012 22:21

Snogs, pinches, all welcome.

HaveALittleFaith · 23/08/2012 22:34

I have my first ante-natal appointment booked and forms for blood tests and wee samples as GP put it a little bit of a weight problem. Call a spade a spade, I'm obese! Am determined not to gain tonnes though (puking certainly helps) if I can help it so stopped making excuses and did a 3.7k walk tonight. MSB and I have planned a nice cycle route by a pub for Saturday. He made my due date 30th April but they don't take your cycle length into account do they? I have a 27 day average cycle and think I ovulated cd13/14. Oh well. I'm just going to say 'end of June'.

dor I imagine it must be difficult but twin pregnancies are not without their challenges and impact on the body. I live in fear of a twin pregnancy really!
