That does sound really shit LP.

The hormonal thing though... I did get really bad road rage for quite a while and lots of anger about stuff I'd normally just shrug off, from somewhere in my first trimester till fairly recently (did have a small hissy fit yesterday about delivery companies, I want my damn pillow). That's not to say there isn't something to be genuinely annoyed about as there obviously is - but the progesterone does make it worse. You clearly do a great job looking after TinyTOM but of course right now you need to make sure you put yourself and the baybee first. Trying not to state-the-bleedin-obvious there...

I am also going to watch the opening ceremony with a pizza accompaniment. I know a few people in the cast of thousands and also one of the lighting designers (he is my friend's shit husband). Huzzah!

LauraPalmer · 27/07/2012 22:15

Hormones and the Olympic opening ceremony!!! Grin

cakeandcava · 30/07/2012 12:41

Morning all, hope you had a good weekend!
I'm just back from my 28-week appointment, had a bit of a shock, the glucose levels in my urine are very high. Midwife says it might not mean much, and I did have a relatively 'sugary' breakfast (banana, orange juice, jam in porridge), but if there is sugar detected in the bloods she took I'll have to have a glucose tolerance test. Worried about Gestational Diabetes now, and feeling a bit shaken by it, I thought I had a normal and relatively healthy diet...

Have spent the morning Googling low-GI pregnancy recipes and diets -going to be super-strict on myself now. The annoying thing is we're off to Italy tomorrow for a short break (last break as a couple style-thing) -I had accepted no red wine and gorgonzola, but now it looks like no gelato either... :(

blonderthanred · 30/07/2012 22:51

Sorry to hear about that, cake (you might have to change your username to broccoliandtapwater) It's never nice to hear that something isn't quite right but hopefully you can control it without too much disruption. Annoying that you won't be able to enjoy a nice gelato on your holiday though.

I have got to have a GTT in a couple of weeks too because of my BMI, sounds v boring. My instructions say to bring a book and something to eat straight afterwards as you'll be starving by then.

AlpinePony · 31/07/2012 07:49

Really good quality ice-cream is fine, it's cheap supermarket shit pumped full of sugar derivatives which is bad. You can even make your own: 500ml cream, packet crushed nuts, touch of salt and a few cubes of broken 70%+ chocolate. :) I got an ice-cream maker v cheap.

OP posts:
LauraPalmer · 31/07/2012 09:22

We love our ice cream maker, too. Much yummier than what you'd buy at the shops. Peach sorbet = sooooooo good

SpinachandPruneJuice - sorry you're dealing with the extra stress. Maybe you need more salt and vinegar crisps to balance the sugar? Smile

LauraPalmer · 31/07/2012 18:06

Okay PESH, I've got a question. Today I suggested to TOM that we wait to announce the pregnancy to our family until after the 20 week scan. TOM seems fine with it - it's really up to me anyway. Grin And it's only 7 more weeks.

I figure that I won't really properly be showing much before then anyway. And it would mean that we would probably be able to tell TinyTOM whether he'll be getting a brother or sister when we announce the news to him.

(My mum and my sister already know, but they live very very far away and have been sworn to secrecy anyway.)

What do you think? Is waiting that long absolutely bonkers?

FriendofDorothy · 31/07/2012 21:28

I guess it is just up to you and what you feel comfortable with. I know full well that I would not have been able to keep my gob shut that long!

I am feeling a bit manky tonight. 20 week scan tomorrow and I am all anxious about it.

blonderthanred · 31/07/2012 23:13

Good luck for tomorrow Dor. Hope it goes perfectly and you get a lovely sonographer.

LP, I told people at about 16 weeks - we'd told v close family earlier. I felt a bit funny about telling people after keeping it a secret so long. Do whatever feels right for you.

LauraPalmer · 01/08/2012 00:22

Good luck with the scan Dory - I'm certain all will be well and we'll all be waiting to hear your boy/girl news!

FriendofDorothy · 01/08/2012 07:46

We have asked my Mum if she wants to come with us. She is very keen not to intrude but I know that secretly she is desperate to see the baby. Fortunately The Mister is rather wonderful and has convinced her that he really doesn't mind her coming as well.

blonderthanred · 01/08/2012 09:20

That's lovely. My mum has driven us to several appts and come in to see the baby which she has been over the moon about, thanked me so many times for including her.

At the 20wk we were only allowed DH in but we asked at the beginning if Mum could come in after the sonographer had completed their checks which they were happy to do.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing about it.

FriendofDorothy · 01/08/2012 16:06

We had such a lovely sonographer and I am so happy that we took Mum with us. It was really moving to see her reactions.

The great news is that baby is fine, everything is intact and in the right place and sonographer really took time to show us everything. She said that he is quite big for dates, right at the top of the centile, and if we weren't so sure of our dates due to treatment she would have put the baby as a couple of weeks on.

The big news though is that it is a boy. I am not disappointed as such, because I am thrilled to be having a baby boy. I guess it just means reframing what I thought it would be! So, I am happy and very very grateful!

LauraPalmer · 01/08/2012 16:54

Boys are fantastic!! Congratulations Dory!! There is an amazing, very unique bond between a mummy and her son. I'm so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!

blonderthanred · 01/08/2012 20:56

So so happy everything went well and the baby is developing well. And congratulations on the 'extra bits'! Like we were saying it can feel a bit funny when you find out but of course your priorities are a happy healthy bouncing baby and that's what you've got. Can you feel it kick a bit now?

FriendofDorothy · 02/08/2012 16:41

Nope. Still can't feel it kicking. I do find it a weird thought that I have a willy growing in my belly!

LauraPalmer · 02/08/2012 16:52

Grin @ willy in your belly

Northey · 03/08/2012 07:07

Another two bfps this morning, so I think I might bravely enter the halls of PESH.

Can I keep my cape, though?

FriendofDorothy · 03/08/2012 07:32

Whoop whoop!

Keep your cape, use it as a nice comfy blanket if you need to :)

LauraPalmer · 03/08/2012 07:40

Welcome Norf! Capes are approved, as is daily POAS. And when you're feeling ready, scroll up to read all about our individual menkulling find the Lazy PESH Not List and add yourself.

When do you see AMNH?

AlpinePony · 03/08/2012 09:02

Wow! :)

OP posts:
Northey · 03/08/2012 10:33

My cape is extremely comfy. And good for comfort in the menkul.

pone, while you're there, can you reassure me? The night before I got the bfp, I had an insanely vigorous riding lesson. By which I mean insanely vigorous for me. You would howl with laughter at my pathetic bouncing about. Have I done something risky?? And if not, should I carry on with my riding lessons? Or is it just better to be safe than sorry?

Will look for the Not List in a sec.

Northey · 03/08/2012 10:34

On my way to see AMNH now. But I cracked and texted him (in top teen stylee) last night.
