Itchy nipples. On the train. No dignity.

FriendofDorothy · 21/06/2012 21:30

I hope you gave them a good scratch.

cakeandcava · 21/06/2012 22:00

Dignity goes out the window when you're pregnant. You should definitely scratch them.

Glad you had an ok day bugs - definitely think the scan was too early.

LP thinking of you for tomorrow morning!

blonderthanred · 22/06/2012 10:17

Keep refreshing in case LP has posted - hope all is well!

LauraPalmerish · 22/06/2012 11:46

Morning all - thank you for all your support and hand-holding. It really helps during these scary times.

Today went as well as an early scan could go, although I completely broke down sobbing when the sonographer placed the wand on my belly. Wasn't expecting that emotional flood. She was really nice and suggested she should do an internal since I couldn't hold my weeping body still.

We saw a lovely strong heartbeat and she said everything looked spot on. I was concerned as it seemed to measured a tad earlier than my dates, but she wasn't worried at all and explained that at this early stage the dates rarely match up perfectly, which is why they don't go by early scan results for dating. She said that it's typical/normal at this point for the reading to be off by up to 5 days (Bugs, I thought of you!), and that by the 12 wk scan the dates will probably match up perfectly but it's nothing to worry about. She said that at 6-8wks the most important thing is not the measurement but the heartbeat.

We were given a scan picture to take home and the luffly consultant booked my second reassurance scan for July 10th, when I'll be approx. 10wks. Everyone was so wonderful - especially as several of the nurses knew me from the MCs and they were so happy that this scan went well. (And that also made me a bit weepy!)

LauraPalmerish · 22/06/2012 11:50

Bugs - now more than ever I'm convinced that your scan was just too early to see the petite pois heartbeat. I hope you're staying busy and positive - we're all multi-crossing body parts for you!

KatAndKit · 22/06/2012 11:55

Fantastic news LP am delighted to hear good scan news from you :)

cakeandcava · 22/06/2012 12:07

Brilliant news LP! Grin
And how lovely all the nurses sound! Great that you're getting another scan -at 10w you'll have a proper little jellybean to take a picture home with you of.

Not surprised that measurements can be that off in the beginning -it is tiny after all - hope you're holding on bugs, got everything crossed for Tuesday now!

I forgot to mention this earlier, Bugs, but it might be useful to you...when I was questioning the EPU nurse this morning about why the measurements were dating a few days earlier than I expected and because I needed to feel completely clear that everything was actually as it should be she very kindly pointed out to me that I have long cycles (33-35 days), so it may be that my scan dates will always seem 'off' by a few days up to a full week as the standard pregnancy dating calendar is calculated on a 28 day cycle. So even though my LMP might have been 7+ weeks ago, the embryo could actually be up to a week younger because I OV and implanted in the 3rd week of a 5 week cycle (versus the 2nd week of a 4 week cycle). Hope this helps!

blonderthanred · 22/06/2012 19:36

Yay, so happy to hear Laura's news and that it has given a new perspective to Bugs worries as well.

A happy end to a rollercoaster week. Hope you all have luffly weekends, I am going to my niece's naming ceremony in Ireland.

FriendofDorothy · 23/06/2012 12:18

Hope everyone is doing ok this weekend.

My in-laws are over visiting (mainly going ok but I am getting really irritated when they leave stop ON TOP of the dishwasher without bothering to put it in the dishwasher - how hard can it be?)

Anyway, today my mother-in-law went shopping for knitting patterns for baby as she is desperate to start knitting. A little more complicated as we do not know what flavour bay we are having yet but we bought some really cute patterns. Makes it seem a little bit more real.

I am still menkulling a but. In the evenings I feel like I can feel a definite hard lunch blow my naval and above my pubic bone. In the mornings it is much less obvious. Is this normal?

Boobs are still sore, but it fluctuates and I know this only because I'm prodding them nonstop.

Haven't really felt very nauseous - more of a general low-level crappiness. And I'm exhausted.

And today I've felt random grumpiness and sadness.

I'm ready to get to the good part...

I'm sure choosing tiny little knitting patterns does make it seem more real, Dory! What about choosing a nice unisex green or cream for the yarn?

If all goes according to plan health-wise then I'm hoping my mom will knit us a few things and give us the baby quilt she made from squares of old children's clothing that belonged to me and my sister when we were kids. Fantastic 70's prints!

Re. the hard bit of belly - probably your growing womb!!

Hope everyone is having a loverly morning.

As I said on the other fred. I had next to no symptoms which is why I did about 15 pregnancy tests.

I am fine apart from being incredibly irritable and terribly hormonal.

LauraPalmerish · 24/06/2012 18:27

I don't have many symptoms, either. And today it's really freaking me out. Sad

Hey bugsy . Hang in there - I had brown CM early on and it wasn't indicative of anything bad. I'm hopeful you'll have good news tomorrow.

Sorry for not posting before - have been on hols (twas lovely).

KatAndKit · 25/06/2012 08:56

I had brown cm and even a bit of red blood just before 6 weeks and it turned out fine in the end. Remember, you should have a 50-50 chance of it being ok. Hang on in there for another day. You are right to go back to bed, I am sure today will seem very long for you but we will all be right there with you in spirit holding your hand tomorrow morning.
