LilacBump - this is exactly how I felt when I got my UTI on holiday. Was your urine clear at your last appt?

diddle · 21/03/2006 11:12

lilacbump - better make sure my midwife does som bloods then, will give her a call. Haven;t even had a bounty pack, she never gave me a card for it, or a pack.
My braxton hicks haven't been painful unless pressing on my bladder, are you still getting them? i'd definitly go and get it checked out.

abbey1515 · 21/03/2006 12:27

Diddle, I haven't had my bloods checked but have an appointment on Thurs with anaesthetist, so am going to ask for them to be done.
This diuretic is just awful- have to go to the loo every 5 minutes, during lessons, and its miles away!

bubbly1973 · 21/03/2006 13:02

just a tip...you will spend a fortune on nappies for those who are using disposable ones...

in tesco they got huggies newborn, 4lb-11lb buy two and i think you save something like £1.03

offer ends march 28..

always a good idea to check out bogof offers if you know you will be using the product thats on offer....i also bought johnsons babybath bogof because i know i will be using that later too.

oooo i sound like one of those women who goes knocking on next door to tell or show her bargains dont i Blush

vbab78 · 21/03/2006 13:34

Hospital Bags ... has anyone got any idea about what size bag you should take? Would a small holdall about the size you can take on a plane as hand luggage be ok or would it be a very small suitcase size?

I understand that you wouldn't need to take everything Wink just a day/night supply of items.

Help.

slinkstah · 21/03/2006 13:36

hi everyone
ladyschaefer- i think pack a hospital bag anyway just in case.

diddle- when is your next antenatal? im surprised they did not do your 28 week bloods.

lilacbump- if you get more that 4 contractions and hour and they are painful/regular you must lie on left side and have a huge drink of water and ring hospital for advice.

bubbly- will be rushing to tescos later:)

slinkstah · 21/03/2006 13:55

vbab- i think a small holdall will fit everything, if your having a cs i reckon a small suitcase.
i think what i will do is pack a bag of extras like baby grows and nappies, change of clothes for me etc in a bag for dp to bring in at a later time, if i stay in hospital longer than expected. then you don't have to rely on dh/dp finding stuff etc
maybe thats far too organsied but my dp would bring in 3-6 months babygrows too! Grin

LilacBump · 21/03/2006 14:04

i'm just getting slight tightenings of my bump at the moment, nothing painful anymore. my urine sample that was sent off to be tested for UTIs last week came back clear. if i get them again i will definitely ring the hospital as it scared me quite a bit.

as for baby item bargains, keep them coming! our tesco has a sale of clothes, so i picked up a few newborn outfits.

my hospital bag is just a small holdall, about 45cm-25cm if that helps. i've got a seperate bag for baby and a little overnight bag for DD if she needs to sleep over at her grandparents. i also have a bag of things like extra maternity pads and nappies that can be kept in the car. learnt that from last time when i ran out of maternity pads and had to send DP out to buy some. i am so overprepared it's silly!

diddle, you should have received your first bounty pack on your first midwife appointment. you'll get on in the hospital after the birth too. that one has your child benefit claim form in it.

diddle · 21/03/2006 14:58

cheers bubbly - boots also have huggies 3 for 2 at the moment, not sure how long for though.

vbab - i'm gonna take babies stuff in the changing bag, and my onw in a very small suitcase, tiny, children size.

slink - was going to do just the same as you with the extras, get DH a spares bag so he doesnt bring the wrong things.
Haven't had any antenatal classes yet, if thats what you mean, got an intensive course on the 8th April all day, thats all.
Next seeing midwife in 2 weeks.

Gonna ask about a bounty pack as well as blood tests then.

vbab78 · 21/03/2006 15:55

Thanks for the advice on hospital bag everyone. Smile

Will definitely leave a bag of extras for dh to fetch in and also leave my going home clothes out for him to fetch. His sister told me an amusing story about her dp fetching her creased trousers and one of her oldest tops!

slinkstah · 21/03/2006 16:06

my xp couldn't find my going home clothes when i had ds so he went out and bought me something..... it was a skin tight dress in the sickest colour you can ever imagine. don't trust ya dp/dh's to choose ya clothes Grin

diddle · 21/03/2006 16:31

Grin slink

Alychef · 21/03/2006 18:06

Hi there,

Complete newbie! I'm Aly and I'm due in June. I was just trawling thru the web and found that someone lives near me, on this forum! Wow, I was starting to think I was the only person on Anglesey due in June! Been feeling incredibly isolated too...my sis in law suggested coming here for a chat and maybe some advice. This is my first...at 36 I feel a bit of a nana! I'm still hanging on to as much 'hipness' as I can muster..determined not to turn into a frumpy mummy Shock. So I believe I'm from the same neck of the woods as Kathryn Wales???

Anyway, glad to meet you all. Hear from you, Aly :)

Alychef · 21/03/2006 18:27

Ooops! I'm actually only 35...hormones gone haywire again :)

KathrynWales · 21/03/2006 19:00

Hi Alychef

We are (almost) neighbours!....and the same age too...and both expecting in June...cue scary music and flashing lights.. Grin

Welcome to Mumsnet....!

I'm in Felinheli right now but trying to find a house in Bangor/Menai bridge with more room...

Where abouts in Anglesey are you?

Alychef · 21/03/2006 19:03

Hi Kathryn!!! So pleased to meet you :)
We live in Rhostrehwfa, a couple of miles out of Llangefni. I used to live in Felin before I met DH. Almost bought in Menai before here....

Indeed, neighbours....

KathrynWales · 21/03/2006 19:10

We aren't alone! There's also someone called AggiePanther in the July thread who lives in Bangor...She & I already knew each other.

Mumsnet is a good place to come and have a moan/laugh/ask questions/compare fat bits Smile

So this is your first baby? Very exciting! I have a daughter of 15 so this very much feels like the first time again for me. Had forgotten how much of a hyponchonriac I was!

When are you due etc so we can add you to the June stats? (There's a list a bit further down)

Alychef · 21/03/2006 19:39

They say...I'm due June 16th...and yes, very very exciting indeed...I've been feeling really sorta lonely not having anyone to talk to on same wavelength, hubby just won't do sometimes!

If I'm long winded messaging, it's cos I'm trying to cook at same time :)

Now I've found this place, I feel much better already...I'll never be off the site!

Because I work fulltime, I can't get to any of these daytime classes that are available, bummer really. But I like working, and I'd be bored at home....

BABY2 · 21/03/2006 20:27

welcome babywhiting and alychef.

I havent posted for while and have been trying to catch up on all the posts over the last 4 days, carnt belive how many there were Shock

i am at the hospital tomorrow afternoon for anti-d and for 28week bloods, not looking forward to that at all Sad

Hope everyone is well, we dont have long to go now!!!!Smile

LilacBump · 21/03/2006 20:51

welcome to alyschef and babywhiting!!

baby2, good luck at the hospital tomorrow!

diddle, no leaking nipples yet here. i only had this in week 39 with DD. i have got some breast pads ready in case it happens earlier though.

Hourglass · 21/03/2006 21:03

Hello all you June 2006-ers. I'm due my second on the 18th June (already have DD who'll be 3 in June).
I'm booked into Pboro Hospital if anyone else is in the area...

Alychef · 21/03/2006 21:09

I'm having trouble deciding on a pushchair/travel system. We went shopping at weekend and narrowed it down to either Quinny Zapp or Buzz. I personally liked the Zapp plus maxi cabrio car seat...it was so easy to manouevre and folded down into nothing. The only things is, the seat doesn't recline or face forward, but junior would be in his infant carrier for first few months anyway.

Plan on using a poupousse (spelling?!) too.

Advice please!

diddle · 22/03/2006 08:00

welcome alychef, hourglass and babywhiting - so nice to have more people joining us, congratulations ladies.

morning to all of you, feeling much happier today, still achy, but thats not gonna go away now, the sun is shining here in the w.mids, i'm even pegging washing on the line, although its not particularly warm.
