diddle - When we found out the due date 6/6/6 the first thing my DH said was THE WORLD CUP, the second was all the damian/lucy stuff.

He's so excited and happy at the prospect of time off for the world cup and of course the baby Wink. He has ideas about the baby watching the football with him. Wonder if he has realised he will be in charge of nappies then! Grin

I was 26 weeks yesterday and I finish 11 weeks on Friday Grin. Time seems to drag at work though Sad.

Going to first parent craft tonight. YIPPEE.

Don't talk to me about snow - I am sick of the sight!!! We had our first snowstorm between x-mas and new year and everytime it looks like the last of the snow will melt away, a new load comes in. It is snowing again today. I just want sunshine and spring.

Lilac, I am finishing work in 10 weeks time - 4 weeks before I'm due. Can't wait!!!
DH will have 2 weeks paternity leave with full pay and has to give notice 4 weeks before my due date. Obviously if baby comes before or after this date he can take the time then. I get 24 weeks full pay after the baby is born and then we have 22 weeks on stat. mat. pay which we can share between us, so we have talked about DH taking the last 8 weeks, which I think is a really good idea, even though I would like it all to myself.

Baby2, apart from the booking-in appointment, I have seen the midwife once and my GP once. My next appointment is in 3 weeks with the midwife.

I also get shocked looks when I tell people how long I still have to go. And am also starting to get the "Oooh, are you sure there's not two in there?" kind of comments. A (otherwise) good friend of mine said the other day: "God you have grown, haven't you? And I thought you would be one of these girls who would carry it really well...". Shock I found that rather offensive :o.

Hi everyone, I really need to post more often! By the time I have caught up my bloomin' computer crashes and I am not blessed with patience so I give up and shout at it! In fact my temper is terrible these days, last week I unplugged the whole computer and dragged it to the front door and informed DH that it was going to the rubbish tip!
I hope you are all feeling happy and healthy and that we've all seen the last of our winter colds!
I'm feeling really good apart from my short temper, I kept straining muscles in my tummy for a while but I think they may have waved the white flag and given up now 'cos my bump suddenly popped out!

Had to answer a hilarious question last night from DS "How comes when you go for a poo the baby doesn't come out?" it made me laugh so much that DH had to answer him! Grin

trinity1 · 02/03/2006 10:45

BABY2 - also have to have another Anti-D jab at 28 and 34 weeks, they're a right pain. 10 seconds after my first jab (had a fall so was told to have one) DP slapped my backside, cannot repeat what was said on here!
26 weeks tomorrow! Is that the beginning of the third trimester? Where did all the time go? Am also experiencing kicks lower down but worse is desperately wanting to go for a wee but only a tiny trickle comes out! That and getting up to go to the bathroom four times a night! First parentcraft class on Tuesday :)

See I said my 'puter should go to the tip! ...don't know how that happened......

slinkstah · 02/03/2006 13:41

well i am jealous by all the snow everyone is getting, i am in london and theres no snow here:(

i have not posted much over the last few months but i wanted to wait til i was 24 weeks as i lost my last baby at 23 weeks. I had a huge nightmare last weekend where i was told my cervix has shortened and was starting to dialate! i was booked in for an emergency stitch and had a stay on the labour ward. i am now on bedrest for a while and hoping that i can still have a june baby and not a march, april or may one. All is going well so far and im totally chuffed i have made it to 24 weeks:)

i had to have an anti-d injection after the stitch operation as i bled alot. i have had some that are really painful and some which barely hurt and have now discovered its all down to skill, the midwife told me there is a technique to make sure you don't hit the bone as the needle is a good 4 inches long

LilacBump · 02/03/2006 14:55

arrggghhh!!! 4 inches?!!! i am also going to have to have the anti-d jabs plus more bloods done at 28 weeks too. both at one appointment... i am so going to be fainting. DP better come with me to hold me.

thanks for all the info on paternity leave!

we're off to mothercare later on today to buy a bath support (i love the look of those as i was so nervous and clumsy with bathing DD when she was newborn) and towels. i don't think i can get away with using DD's pink and lilac towels for our baby boy :)

LilacBump · 02/03/2006 14:58

oh slinkstah, sorry to hear about your last baby and the trouble you had over the weekend. do take care and finger crossed for you that baby won't come early.

Dana · 03/03/2006 10:18

Slink, sorry to hear about your scare at the weekend. You get some rest and look after yourself!!

Vbab, how was your parents craft class yesterday?

Do any of you still get period like pains? I have had them quite bad the last couple of days in tummy and lower back a long with a lot of Braxton hicks. Just wondering if this is normal? Apart from a few stretching pains here and there, I haven't had anything like this since the beginning of the pregnancy.

vbab78 · 03/03/2006 10:33

dana - My class was interesting ... this first session was all about birth/labour. When you should go to hospital, breathing, how the baby gets out! Next week is about pain relief! Grin

All DH could say after was how tired he was and how it makes it a long day when you have been at work (finished at 8.45pm). How does he think I feel!!

I didn't help matters though when I realised I had left the house keys at work! Sad I thought no problem my mum has a set and she lives about 10 mins from me. We drove there and we couldn't find the keys! So we ended up doing a 20 mins drive to my works. Then I had to bang on all the windows and doors to get the security guards attention. The good news is we got the keys. Quite funny looking back but wasn't at the time. Grin

I had severe period type pains in the first few months but nothing since. Braxton Hicks, don't know. What do they feel like?

abbey1515 · 05/03/2006 11:28

Am so excited! Have just ordered nappies! Totsbots fluffles, and they look so cute, I can't wait to get them. Hmmm...Is it normal to get so excited about nappies? Grin

Laura032004 · 05/03/2006 11:39

Hello everyone from Sunny Cyprus :) :o :)

slinkstah - sorry to hear about your trauma last weekend. I hope that the stitch does it's job, and your LO stays put for a good few weeks yet. I had a friend who lost two babies quite late, and then had one very early, before they realised that was happening to her. With the next pg, she had the stitch early on, and went overdue. :)

abbey1515 - very natural to get so excited by nappies. That never changes! Wink

Laura, am so jealous!
Am lying on bed looking fat and pale, obsessing over prams. Have also had crying fit this morning as put new suede comfiest-shoes-in-world in washing machine - no idea why, and no memory of doing it.Now comfiest-shoes-in-world are suede-less and size one.

nic33 · 06/03/2006 15:01

Hello everyone. Haven't posted for ages. Too busy at work and getting fed up with it. Starting maternity leave at beginning of May.

Have very good news (for me anyway). Am booked in for caesarean on 22 May. Huge relief for me, just hope it doesn't come before this. Due date is 4 June, but DS was two weeks early.

Lots of kicks, especially down and back. I think they peak around this sort of time as somersaults are still possible. Nice though. DS keeps trying to get the baby out with Scoop the Digger!

bumpinsheffield · 06/03/2006 16:00

slinkstah, congrats on reaching 24 weeks, hope the stitch does the job.

I'm nearly 27 weeks now and feeling quite tired. Not sure if this is down to the fact that me and dp were up till 2am on Sunday levelling the kitchen floor so we could tile it!! Did go to bed at 8:30 last night though to try and catch up (Felt really weird going to bed just after putting ds and dd to bed but neither of us could keep our eyes open). Still feel like I could fall asleep at any moment.

I'm also due on 6/6/06 but don't think dp has realsised that his paternity leave coincides with the world cup, wondering if I should tell him or just keep stum...Wink

LilacBump · 08/03/2006 11:03

27 weeks! i guesss i'm now in the third trimester?

i am feeling a lot more tired too. i caught up with some housework the other night and i had to sit down and catch my breath. i also had to ring DP to pick me up from tesco as i couldn't carry the (quite light) bags of shopping as i was getting a stitchy pain in my bump as i walked with them. we've now been joking that i should have one of those old lady's trolleys to take shopping home.

i rang the hospital as i am supposed to be seen by the consultant next week, but had received no letter about an appointment. and of course they hadn't made me one. same thing happened with the 21 week scan. but i'll now be seen next friday.

vbab78 · 08/03/2006 11:15

LilacBump - Congrats! I'm 27 weeks too. Grin

Can anyone tell me what Braxton Hicks feel like? It's just that I was wondering if I've been having them or something else...

A couple of nights I've had a terrible ache/pain in my bump/at bottom of bump. It's been that bad it has woke me from my sleep and I feel very sick. Sad

nic33 · 08/03/2006 13:00

Braxton Hicks, IME, are a tightening across the bump, with no pain.

I'm like you, Lilacbump, a stitchy ache at the bottom of the bump, and I can't seem to walk very far without getting worn out. Feel pathetic, as only had this right at the end last time. I blame it on total absence of stomach muscles as have done no exercise for three years.

bumpinsheffield · 08/03/2006 13:02

vbab,

Braxton hicks are the muscles in your stomach contracting, practicing for labout, it feels like it does when you do a sit up or a stomach crunch. You can feel the muscles tightening and if you place your hands on your stomach you can feel it going hard. however, its not painful, or at least mine never have been and I've only ever felt them in my stomach, across my bump, never lower down. I have had really bad trapped wind pain, which has made me feel sick and felt lower down but don't know if this is what you are feeling. I'd speak to your midwife if you're worried, she'll probably tell you its normal and nothing to be worried about but at least you feel better having spoken to someone.

slinkstah · 08/03/2006 13:24

laura- hope your having fun i cyprus:) looks like i will have to have a stitch early next time (can't believe im planning another already)
bump- i invited my sister to the birth and she said she couldn't come if it was around world cup! as she wouldn't beable to get babysitters for her ds. lol

congratulations to all those enteriing 3rd trimester:)

vbab- you can see or feel BH tightening and making your belly hard, they shouldn't be painful, they maybe uncomfortable if you are trying to move at the time. i would get checked out if they are painful as you could have an UTI.

abbey1515 · 08/03/2006 13:41

Hope everyone is ok!
Re Braxton Hicks- last night I had a slight pulling pain and then had a couple of really severe contractions and started to panic- was sure baby coming early! Rang midwife and she told me to lie down and rest and they stopped after a few minutes- was just like a really tight sensation in my abdomen and it went very hard. Have had slight ones before but not like this! Anyway, is fine now, must have just been getting some practice in! V scary though.

diddle · 08/03/2006 17:20

abbey - that sounds very scary, i would have paniced. So glad all is ok though, we don't want any early birds popping out.

So glad i'm not the only one having that weird stitch pain. I wasn't sure what it was when i got it, as my whole belly isn't as it was, the stitch felt like it was in the wrong place, but it was probably because everything is all over the place inside me. I got it when i went swimming and when i had to walk to school last week. phew, i'm normal after all. well sort of Grin

abbey1515 · 08/03/2006 20:33

I get it every time I doing something I think I think I probably shouldn't- like shout at a class of 30 15 yr old boys- or move the new chest of drawers that was delivered yesterday. It really made me think about what I'm doing- I haven't shouted at all today! Can't wait to finish now, have been in bed since 6:30, just completely exhausted!

sickntired · 09/03/2006 15:26
