Hi every one, been to the hospital antenatal for a scan and appointment and our baby is now transverse. They want me back next week but if he is still transverse then I will have to stay in till delivery and our baby will be delivered by c- section. Bit disappointed as all I thought I had to argue was the homebirth. Don't have the crib set up don't have a bag packed. I have suspected this baby moves a lot any way so it's not a complete surprise. Dh and I are as calm as I can be in this situation. Have never had surgery before but more worried about how we will care for the rest of the family before and after the possible section.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 07/12/2011 12:49

Nanny do you mean you might have to stay in after next week until the actual birth/cs or am I misunderstanding?

Nanny01 · 07/12/2011 12:55

They said I would have to stay till I deliver. They worry about a prolapse of the cord if my waters go not that they have before labour.

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 13:15

sending turnging vibes your way Nanny

if anyone fancies a little laugh this thread is quite funny and making me want to try gas and air right now!!!

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 13:15

turning

doh

FrillyMilly · 07/12/2011 13:29

Hope your baby turns Nanny. How long will you have to be in for before they will do a c section?

I wish my experience of gas and air was as funny. I just felt light headed and alternating between sternly telling DH to get away from me and apologising for being mean. I don't think I was very good at breathing it in properly. DH wanted a sneaky bit but the midwife never left the room.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 07/12/2011 13:34

I hope he turns nanny - definitely sending turning vibes your way...

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 13:40

my husband is desperate to have some gas and air too....think it'd only be fair!

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 07/12/2011 14:14

G&A was great for a while, but then i started to get sick on it.

addictediam · 07/12/2011 14:15

Nanny turning vibes from me too.

Mw said to take paracetomal and sleep for a few hours and ring them back to let them know whats going on. So I took the paracetomal, tried to sleep (managed 30mins before being wide awake) and will ring them back in around an hour to update (no change.)
I have so had enough!

I'm not allowed gas and air! it makes me angry selfish and violent!

Nanny01 · 07/12/2011 14:21

addictediam - hope things settle.

I love gas and air

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 14:30

addicted yeah maybe angry and violent is not the way to go!! hope today turns out ok for you

I have just had some bad but at least clarifying news Sad my hospital has suspended it's home birth service until Jan 16th, with no commitment to much after that either.

brilliant. brilliant. brilliant.

at least i know now I guess! whoopie-do. Sad guess i better book in to the MLU fast! or swap hospitals to a much better MLU a bit further away...

GiraffeAHolic · 07/12/2011 14:36

Do you realise we have filled over half a thread in just over a week Grin

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 14:56

have started a thread about it [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1358902-to-think-if-my-home-birth-service-is-suspended-i-should-be-allowed-to-transfer-to-another-home-birth-team?msgid=28872636#28872636 here]] if anyone wants to add their views Sad

Crosshair · 07/12/2011 15:09

Sorry about your birth plans red, my MLU closed down when I was around 20 weeks and I was gutted then, so you must feel awful having the choice taken away at such a late stage. :(

Hope you baby turns Nanny.

The gas and air thread made me :o

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 15:15

i was kind of expecting it and rather that they told us than not, but still ... gutted.

at least the thread i started is now the most active thread Grin

that surely makes up for something Confused

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 07/12/2011 15:21

Had a look at your thread, red and "But then I think everyone should have to contribute to the cost of their births because having children is a choice, not an illness."????? Xmas Shock

Seriously? We're middle class, entitled to no benefits and are barely able to afford this baby as it is! We pay taxes - that's our contribution, surely?

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 15:24

yeah, i chose to ignore that one.... Grin

JingleFryn · 07/12/2011 15:28

red oh arse. At least we now know, eh? I think I'm going to try frilly's plan of requesting early discharge from the delivery room.

nanny - more turning vibes from over here too!

oiesha glad the MW is happy all's ok.

addicted hope you're feeling better soon, and the little one stays put.

I couldn't work out how on earth to breathe properly on the g&a so gave up! I did keep swearing and apologising to the MW though - you will go a bit mental even without the g&a, never fear!

supadupaturkeystupour · 07/12/2011 15:41

I dare not try G&A, it was in my last birth plan but when it came to it i refused. I have a vomiting phobia and was convinced it would make me feel drunk and sick :-(. never say never though.......

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 07/12/2011 16:35

Aww, just heard that my baby sister got a promotion to the next grade up in her 'big four' firm - very very proud of her.

Also slightly Xmas Envy as she will now be earning about 7k a year more than DH and she's six years younger than him and lives with my parents... Must be lovely.... Oh well, she can do lots of lovely things with/for her new nephew! Xmas Grin

SantaSHO · 07/12/2011 17:42

That's funny about the g&a. My hospital encouraged dp to try it. He kindly refused but had a wee try when the mw left the room.

Nanny - hope baby turns for you Fx

Red - sorry to hear your news but at least you know for sure now

Soo tired!

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 07/12/2011 17:54

Evening all. Smile I had to do a lot of standing yesterday and today I'm feeling more "pressure" than usual. In fact it's making me feel a bit constipated as I'm paranoid that "pushing" might bring on the actual "pushing" iyswim. PGP ladies, I'm thinking this is just pressure as a result of overdoing it a bit ? I'm loath to take the lactulose as I've got my first diabetes clinic in the morning and I think it will send my sugar levels off the charts Xmas Confused

greenlady78 · 07/12/2011 17:54

Hello there again ladies,

red sorry about your home birth plans, hope you find a solution you like soon!

As I can't leave the house have been working all day on the computer (although must confess I had a 20 minute for the first time in ages!)

Wanted to do a little survey as I know most of you are so much organised than I am! I must, must buy a crib/cot bed this weekend and wanted to know what you guys went for, so I can get some inspiration Xmas Smile

x
