Almost the same as Parsley we got this crib but in white and off ebay so it cost us £15 Xmas Smile
It's a bit cosier than a full on cot, but will last a few more months than a Moses basket. Plus it's pretty :)

Nanny01 · 07/12/2011 18:35

We have this crib bought it for our 2nd child and we are planning to use it for this one.we used it till they were over 6 months old. Dh will get ours out of the loft this weekend especially that we might have our baby early. Thats the line I'm taking and I'm sticking to it. You will love it ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion You will need the JL crib sheets that are larger than moses basket sheets. Definatley get fitted ones to.

FrillyMilly · 07/12/2011 18:44

We didn't bother with a crib. Used a Moses basket for about 6 weeks then in to the cot bed. Got it from toys r us and it has survived well for DC2. Only problem is we have screws missing!! Really need to get that sorted.

Wormshuffler · 07/12/2011 18:49

I have got this cotbed from kiddicare. I can't rate them highly enough. I ordered it at 1pm got a text in the morning to say they would deliver between 11 and 1 and to text back if that wasn't convenient. They put every other persons delivery systems to shame!!
It looks absolutely gorgeous and is really sturdy.

Sorry about your home birth plan going Biscuit Biscuit s up Red, bloody tories............

Hope your little one starts to behave Nanny and gets into a better position.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 07/12/2011 18:52

Thanks Nanny it hasn't arrived yet. We bought it at the weekend with our JL gift vouchers we got for our wedding. It should be delivered in a week or so I think.

We bought 2 sets of sheets that the shop assistant said would fit - they are fitted crib/pram size. I think we'll need more than 2 sets of bedding though. Particularly if we use it for the pram as well. How many sets do you have?

Anyway, I stuffed up the link earlier as I was on the train home on my phone. here it is properly

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 07/12/2011 18:55

Alternatively, Parsley - these sheets fit the JL mattress just fine and are much cheaper!

rednosedreindeerhead · 07/12/2011 18:56

my mum bought us this set when it was on special offer for £500 for the lot. she thought it seemed like a good deal even though i hate that picture of an elephant, so will turn the cot around the other way Grin It's a cot bed so will last a good few years, we thought that was important as we won't be able to afford to keep buying new stuff all the time.

However now i'm thinking of co-sleeping i kind of wish I'd bought a cot that fits onto our bed at the side. Might look for those on ebay.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 07/12/2011 19:08

That's nice worm and good value too. We haven't bought a cot yet as we're having baby in with us to start with but we want a cotbed eventually so I might bookmark that one.

Nanny this website has some ideas for trying to help turn the baby. They have some suggestions if the tummy is tight and further down the page if the tummy is loose. In hypnobirthing classes they tokd us to get on all fours, head down a bit like cakes said to give the baby more room. They also tell you to try visualisation exercises where the baby is turning/ has turned which is suprisingly successful in 80% of cases apparently.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 07/12/2011 19:11

hey ladies,

thanks for the concern, is really sweet of you! We're doing fine - just v v busy training my replacement, looking after SIL, going to about a million christmas events, and trying to sort out the rest of the baby stuff. I'm starting to get really tired too so have little energy for posting, though I've been trying to keep an eye on the thread. I did manage to do some damage to my pelvis the other day so spent yesterday in quite a lot of pain (on a work trip to London Hmm) but looks like I just overstretched as it's easing off already. And pamplemousse seems fine too - I have a MW appt on Friday so I'll get another chance to check. Not convinced that my BP will have come down at all though, so it remains to be seen if I'll get my much desired waterbirth. Not worrying about that right now?.

I won't spend too much valuable thread space going over all posts, but just wanted to say really sorry to those of you having a hard time and getting unwelcome news about baby positioning etc. And fab that all the babies are still where they should be after last week's worries. Look after those little ones, and yourselves Brew

As for cots, we have the Stokke Sleepi which we bought second hand. It looks great but was a bit of an impulse purchase, which I slightly wish I'd thought about more. It will convert to a cot bed and even a junior bed if we buy an extension kit so could feasibly last until the baby is about 8 or 9. We also have a bednest style thing on the way from FIL, who is a carpenter, and I'm very very excited about that!

I just found out that one of my NCT crew gave birth on the date of our second NCT day, at 32 weeks! She and the baby are doing well as far as we know, but we're hoping she can make it to the next session tomorrow. I think she had pre-eclampsia Sad.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 07/12/2011 19:11

Thanks cakes Bargain!

Wormshuffler · 07/12/2011 19:24

I have borrowed a moses basket, DD was in it for a month, DS for even less!

greenlady78 · 07/12/2011 19:30

You're such wonderful ladies!!!! So many replies in such short time, ploughing through them now and will get back to you!

greenlady78 · 07/12/2011 19:41

nanny fingers crossed for the baby changing position!

ghost great to hear all is well and you were just busy Xmas Smile Hope the mum that had pre-eclampsia is ok!! Such a scary thing... Stokke - I would love one but after much thought we realised we cannot afford it. We were lucky enough to get a Stokke pram as a present so we are grateful and done our Stokke share of the business Xmas Wink

parsley and makes wow, they are beautiful!

worm I like that very much! And impressed with the Kiddicare delivery system! The price is brilliant and it looks beautiful, I might end up with the same Xmas Grin

red I actually like the elephant! I saw it at Mothercare and it looks really cute and excellent quality! And I agree, I want it to last a long time as it will save us money!

Thank you, thank you , thank you again ladies! I will update you guys on what we get! I got my delivery from JL today, they have the cheapest Maxi Cosi car seat around and it looks wonderful, almost cried imagining the wee one on it!

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 07/12/2011 19:48

hiya all,

we have a mothercare moses basket www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/mothercare-giraffe-moses-basket--when-im-big-i-want-to-be-tall--lemon-and-green-bassingbourn-15/91913006 which was dd's. It will be in service again-it's in my bedroom now all wshed and ready for the bubs. She was in it for a month before i got fed up with the rustling! But i think it's nice for them to start with as they can feel a bit exposed in a big cot.

then we have www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=mothercare+bedside+cot one of these lovely lovely bedside cots. I really wanted to co sleep with dd but my PND meant I couldn't and the anti' d's I was on made me a bit tranqued sometimes so i never felt safe enough. This was perfect best of both worlds-baby was with me in her own space but I could just grab her by the sleepy bag and drag her across for bf'ing.

greenlady78 · 07/12/2011 20:01

fish I love those bedside cots but my bed has no 'wood' on it, and it looks like you need something to attach to it...so I was never sure if it would be safe. BUt it looks so lovely!!!

But I must admit at the moment worm your cot bed is winning Xmas Grin

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 07/12/2011 20:03

Alright, I've been looking up where to register the baby and went to the directgov website, but it's given me two offices - does that mean we could go to either??? Very confusing.

FrillyMilly · 07/12/2011 20:06

Where we live we have the choice of two places. They are both town halls in the two largest towns in the borough.

greenlady78 · 07/12/2011 20:07

makes on my antenatal classes (in London) we were told that you have to register the baby on the borough there the hospital is (which is a different borough to the one I live)...don't know if that applies elsewhere though.

SantaSHO · 07/12/2011 20:26

cots We had dd in a second(probably more tbh) hand moses basket. It was quite roomy so she got just about 2 months in it, should have been more but she started trying to pull herself up. We transfered her into a secondhand cotbed where she now uses it as a bed.
We'l be re-using the moses basket this time and have been given a secondhand cot to use as well.

registering The rules in Scotland are completely different to England. We have 3 weeks to register the baby at any office in the country.

Im feeling horribly emotional tonight Sad my cold seems to be getting worse and im aching all over. Baby seems to be kicking fuck battering me as well which doesnt help.
Think the realisation that this baby will be here in approx 3 weeks and we are no where ready is annoying me. That, and both my sister and my friend have their ELCS dates in and I dont Sad

Oeisha · 07/12/2011 20:28

frilly Here's the .gov.uk. You must register the birth with the district where baby's born, within 42 days. Quite a few hospitals have a visiting registrar...so if you're lucky, you can register the birth before you go home (if you in hospital of course)! BUT! If you miss the registrar at hospital, you CAN register through your local registrar, BUT HAVE to tell them where LO was born and to send the information to the relevant district. If you're having a home birth, then register at local registry office. I think there are rules about who can do it if not married too. If not married it has to be Mum basically. Should all be on that .gov.uk site.

Oeisha · 07/12/2011 20:39

...oh, I think I might be in love with my sparkly new tumbler dryer.

SantaSHO · 07/12/2011 20:40

Here, if not married both the parents need to be present with their birth certs at the registration. If married, only one needs to attend.

Im just confusing everyone with our different rules. ignore me.

Mum2be79 · 07/12/2011 20:50

Well it certainly seems everyone has been busy with this, that and the other!

I went to the doctors. I have a virus. He gave me Linctus (very, very tasty actually!) and something for my acid (halla-bloody-luluah!!) He did make a guess that Peanut is a girl (because of my acid reflux). I said I'm 5/50 now. Was 80/20 'favouring' a boy but certain things make me think it could be a girl!

Went to my 2nd 'birth preparation and parenting classes' tonight. DH did not come. I was one of 2 ladies without partners and all but 2 couples showed up - so 24 in total. Here's one to get your minds warped - I actually practised 'breast-feeding' tonight (with a frube yoghurt!). A bit more chatty and interactive. Next week is about postnatal depression, immunisations, childhood illnesses and bathing baby. I told DH that it would be useful for him but as usual he said no! Slightly concerned that he'll be Yorkshire's 'worst' dad at this rate because he doesn't seem to be showing any interest. Confused

Feeling lots of pressure down below tonight. Left the class feeling rather 'wet' and was beginning to wonder. Luckily, nothing to report. Probably just Peanut burying down further.

trubble · 07/12/2011 22:00

Sending positive vibes for all bubs getting in right positions and addicted's staying put :)
Counting down the days now til mat leave starts - 7 to go Grin

DH not back from work get due to chaos at Waterloo - chocolate is the only way forward I feel

greenlady78 · 07/12/2011 22:26

mum your antenatal classes sounds much better than mine!!! DH did not want to go either, so I had to drag him and at the end he really enjoyed it! So if you are able to drag yours, it might be a pleasant surprise :)

trubble what chaos in waterloo? any specific shenanigans or just the usual? Xmas Grin

Possibly TMI coming up...how does your breasts feel? Mine I feel are big but not as big as I thought they needed to be, and do they need to be hard? I feel mine are too soft Xmas Sad Maybe it is just me being stupid but I hope that does not mean no milk, boooo!
