We were told the same at NCT. I can't do horselips much to DH's amusement. I can do coffee percolator lips.

Sorry Addicted! Hotpot sounds nice too. :)

JingleFryn · 06/12/2011 19:10

What on earth are horselips??? I'm utterly fascinated.

Gosh, loads to catch up on again. I'm glad everyone's out of hospital and ok!

I've spent the day at home with DD, as she has a dreadful cough, and then yesterday her lips went blue very briefly. We were all set to go to a&e but it went away again in a couple of minutes and she was absolutely fine, so went to the doctor today and got told off for not taking her to a&e. oh well, we'll know for next time (and knowing our local a&e it would have taken until this morning to get her seen anyway!)

Went to Mothercare as I was, ahem, working from home, and came out with nothing other than 3 vests for DD! I'm in such denial about poor G2! So, in a nutshell, absolutely nothing in any form of bag whatsoever. It's lucky I'm not due till the end of Jan... On the positive, we did decorate the Christmas tree and all the decorations are at DD's height in a bundle together - the Christmas fairy may have a little reorganisation later!

frilly how did you get yourself down for a quick discharge? I'd have no problem giving up my homebirth (which clearly won't happen anyway and I do wish they'd stop lying about it), if I could guarantee a quick discharge (presuming all is well). It's the hanging round on hospital wards that I object to more than anything.

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 06/12/2011 19:40

fryn best way I can describe it is blowing a raspberry with wide lips to do a horse snorting impression. Wink

FrillyMilly · 06/12/2011 19:46

fryn I spoke to my midwife at booking in about how I was happy with the hospital birth I had with DD but I hated being on the ward. I felt isolated and didn't get good aftercare. At least at home I would have had DH to help. I felt a nuisance when I asked for help. She put on my notes for midwife led at the hospital and quick discharge so I won't go on to the ward (assuming everything is straight forward). I will be discharged from the delivery room. It's a full maternity unit with consultants, epidurals etc not a midwife led unit. Hope your DD is ok. Mine has a cough which means the inhaler is out for the first time this winter. I think the sudden change in temperature has affected her.

Belini · 06/12/2011 20:00

Hi ladies I haven't posted here for a vvvv long time but I do lurk everyday Blush. I have put myself on the new stats list hope this is ok. xxxx

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 06/12/2011 20:14

So my last pre-baby brownie meeting was cancelled due to the fricken weather. I pretty annoyed that I won't get to say goodbye to my girls. Feel cheated actually.
So yes cakes I blame my festive name too and shall be changing it

Very true fish big hugs all round

fryn frilly my hospital has a policy where unless there is reason to keep you in your discharged from the labour suite within 6hours of birth.

m2b glad your feeling better

coughs dd has had some sort if ailment since a vomit bug in October. But just now, like her dad and myself is sporting a horrible cough. Coming to the end if week 2 and its doing my head in. I need to sit down and hold my bump whenever I cough and of course I'm terrified I'm going to pee myself everytime.

Dp and I have been laughing our heads off at the horse lips expression.! Neither of us can do it Grin

Waves to bellini hope youv been ok

Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 20:16

I agree with Sage - it's with relaxed lips and exhaling through them. I sound more like a coffee percolator though, I don't think I have the relaxed bit right.

Frilly and Fryn - I was hoping to request a transfer to either a MLU or home straight after. The post natal ward stories on here have scared me!

Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 20:18

Hi Bellini! :)

Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 20:22

That's really annoying about brownies Sho! :(

Oeisha · 06/12/2011 20:23

Belini Course it's ok! Grin Hope all is well!

Just checked of my John Lewis list. It's all there. Currently playing with thermometers...(see my FB status if curious).

Half of me wants to stay in hospital for a bit to reduce the interference form my parents, the other half wants to be out as quickly as possible. Confused
Lordy knows how I'm going to feel, so will just wait and see I think.

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 06/12/2011 20:48

Just showed this bit about the quick discharge option to OH - he looked very nervous and said "you're not doing that!" Xmas Confused

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 06/12/2011 20:50

Could you get transferred to a MWLU instead? The MWLU I'm hoping to go to also takes in waifs and strays from the big hospital after they've delivered so they can have a day or two to recover whilst being very well looked after (baths drawn, tea and toast brought to them etc) and establish BF. Am doing that if I don;t get the MWLU birth I want.

addictediam · 06/12/2011 20:51

:( ladies (tmi allert) my body is 'expelling' I've been to toilet (poo) 3 times in the last hour, the top of my bump is really hurting and ive got 'period pains' back again. My bump keeps going hard but I think its hb's rather than cx's. I don't want to go back to hospital so I think im going to go to bed soon and see how I feel in the morning. But its not looking good really is it :(

Right, hopefully now that iv changed my name the snow will bigger off. Fx

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 06/12/2011 20:53

addicted - well... it's not looking promising for that holiday, but at least I see your insurance covers it...?

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 06/12/2011 20:58

Right - changed my name again to avoid the confusion.

cakes I'm not sure - we have a MWLU in our hospital so I'm not sure what happens when you are done. I've got my antenatal NHS class on Sat so will ask them then.

addicted cross your legs! Just make sure you keep an eye on the timings. FX they ease off again and they are just HBs.

sho hope the name change works!

SantaSHO · 06/12/2011 21:17

How did I miss you there addicted sorry. Right cross your legs! My body done the same the night before my waters burst with dd. She was born later that night.
BABY ADDICTED, STAY INSIDE YOUR MUMMY, SHE HAS A LOVELY HOLIDAY TO GO ON. YOU CAN CONE OUT AFTER THE HOLIDAY OK
sorry for the shouting, just trying to make sure baby addicted can here me up here Blush

The name change was very successful. It's heavy pouring down outside now and the street is almost dull looking again Grin

Oeisha · 06/12/2011 21:23

addicted Eh gads! Might be worth ringing MW anyway (sorry) as top-bump pain and erratic bowels could be PE...FX for you...

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 06/12/2011 22:01

addicted oh my youre in the wars.I wouldn't leave it love, I would call. Sounds like your baby is determined to make an early appearance! Hopefully it's just a tummy bug causing all this. Keep us posted and take care xx

knittiekitty · 06/12/2011 22:34

addicted I'd call your MW or mat ward for advice, poor you. I hope it's false alarm, fx here too x.

addictediam · 06/12/2011 22:56

But dds asleep and dh has work tomorrow (thankfully from home) and if they asked me to go in I'd have to find someone to come over and babysit, dh would be grumpy tomorrow and dd will get all clingy. I don't want to phone and I don't want to be the first to pop! I'm ment to be one of the last. Can't one of you have your baby first?

Sleeping not going so well, im so restless I need to walk or bounce on a ball or something...its not looking any better is it!

Santasho glad its stopped snowing for you

OP posts:
Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 23:26

Hey Addicted, have you phoned? Or at least have you got DH up with you? If it was labour and you went in, might they be able to stop it? It sounds like a nuisance but if you need to be looked over, you should call.

FX for you here too.

SantaSHO · 06/12/2011 23:51

Addicted stop worrying about everyone else and go get checked! If it is labour then you and baby are so much safer surrounded by mws than your dh and dd

Please at least just call them.

Oeisha · 07/12/2011 04:25

Oh noes! addicted Hopefully you've called...
...or at least got some sleep.
If DH gets stroppy, I'll punch him for you... Grin
More insomnia (hense the violent tendancies).
House is crazy-cold. Am gonna have to address this heating issue. Can't have Missyface this cold.
That'd better not be snow I hear falling...
