Hopefully no one else has done it while my phone is messing about!

OP posts:

Just a thought
But as lots of babies are getting their checking out dates should we start a new list on the Stats thread??

Just to make a tidier list as there is alot of people on the list that have lost touch long before the 20w scans.

Maybe just a restart where we state in EDD order then Team colours and ELCS date if we know it

example:
mine would stay as
Shonnomanom - DC2 EDD 01/01/12 Team Yellow

Where as Mia's would be
Miamama09 - DC2 EDD 21/01/12 Team Blue ELCS 13/01/12

What do you think????

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 06/12/2011 14:09

phew the understairs cupboard is done and as a result of that the shoe cupboard also (the shoe rack unit was in the back of the cupboard being used for crappy storage-the crap is now gone and the shoes have a home)

That job that has been hanging over my head for bloody ages. I wouldn't mind but we have only been the house 18m and I know I have done that cupboard at least 4 times since we moved in.

3 bin bags of crap I have chucked, 1 charity bag of "brickabrac" and 1 entire bin bag of carrier bags have gone out. I feel cleansed...and bloody sore now.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 06/12/2011 14:11

good idea shonno-it is a long list and theres many on there that are no longer using the thread it would be easier if it were just active members as it were.

shall we do it on here first then copy and paste into another thread once we have captured everyone?

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 06/12/2011 14:21

Think if we just start the new list a fresh on the Stats Thread would be best. That way peoples details wont get lost in the general chitchat.

Iv restarted it with instructions. It should be quite easy to find the 'new' start

FrillyMilly · 06/12/2011 14:40

Would someone mind adding me to the list? I use this forum on my phone so copying and pasting is a bit difficult. It's DC2 EDD 17/01/12 and team blue.

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 06/12/2011 14:53

Have added you frilly

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 06/12/2011 14:54

Right I need to get off the couch and wake myself up. Got our last night before Christmas at Brownies tonight and I really need to be awake.

GiraffeAHolic · 06/12/2011 15:10

Good call on the stats list, lots of people have gone AWOL.

Saw MW this morning, agreement all round is for a waterbirth at the birthing unit so at least I know what I'm planning for now. They are very flexible and patient controlled and have IPod docks so I can make a playlist etc. No beds, it's all bean bags and floor mats and cushions and stuff and there's no hospital machinery in the room.

Am eligible to use it from next Monday so have started raspberry leaf tea now :)

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 06/12/2011 15:59

Oh giraffe that sounds like a lovely environment to give birth in. I would love the opportunity to have a waterbirth.

Angry at the flippin weather!!!!! There has been no sleet or snow or rain since last night. The about 45mins ago, 30mins after I checked the forecast for the rest of the day, its starts chucking big balls of cotton wool out the sky. The forecast said Sleet not Snow!! Angry Iv already had parents of 3 girls text to say their not bringing their girls to Brownies tonight. Its our last night, and my last night until April. Iv arranged for a Santa and baked and loads of Christmas activities. Raging!!

Rant over!!

Capybara · 06/12/2011 15:59

Sorry for mucking up the stats thread everyone Blush Think I got it right the second time though.

In other news - had OBGYN appointment this afternoon and fortunately The Beast is head down, bottom up, feet somewhere off to the side - i.e. not breach or transverse (I've been looking very wide, so the latter was a concern)

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 06/12/2011 16:10

Sho i blame your christmas screenname...

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 06/12/2011 16:25

schmoo and soppiness alert

You know what ladies, I was just thinking about this thread and everyone on here and how lovely you all are. Were very priveledged to be sharing this incredible journey together, be it your first, 2nd or more children. Since ancient times women have shared the chore of childrearing and the secrets of childbirth. Ok we may not do it in tents anymore but places like MN make it possible in the modern world.

I'm very grateful to have met you all, even if it's not in the flesh. You have been a fantastic source of support and wisdom over the last few months and heres hoping that more friendships and knowledge can be shared as we bring our babies into the world.

xxx

Mum2be79 · 06/12/2011 16:26

I'm good today! No headache, though still have a rotten cough. I'm using my inhalers more but generally okay. Peanut has squirmed a lot today but has long periods of quietness. Normal?

I didn't go to the doctors today as we were taking delivery of 78 boxes of floor tiles (21 to a box) and I wasn't sure what time they would come. Good job they're on a pallet!

Plan on going tomorrow as have nothing 'booked'. I'm positive the headache was due to a virus but I will still get checked over. I was 'mainly' going about my chest as I suffer quite badly with it. The consultant was concerned about my 'moderate asthma' at my 20-week scan despite me telling her all is fine. She did say that that may not be the case further on in the pregnancy.

Car fine. DH had switched it on to put it back in the garage after washing it and that, the cold (and the fact it's done 136,000 miles!) meant that it struggled. DH got it starting eventually, took it for a spin and it's fine now!

Raspberry leaf tea - I've heard it's a bit yucky and people have said it doesn't do anything. So am not going to bother now.

Peri massage - (can't spell the word!). Does not appeal to me. Believe me anything 'down there' doesn't make me comfortable at the moment. Anyways, safe when you've got GBS? Not sure. Probably, but I'm giving it a miss.

Birth plan - Do I need to use my own initiative and do this myself or will MW do it with me? I have been 'planning' in my head, but as everyone has told me - births NEVER go to plan. Still, I'd like to know that there is something written down because the thought of relaying everything back to the MW when I'm having contractions every 2 minutes, doesn't fill me with joy!

Got my placenta scan on Friday at 9:05am. Taking my mum as DH can't get time off work. I'll be 36 weeks + 5 days!!!

Capybara · 06/12/2011 16:32

Fish, you put that beautifully! I feel the same way.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 06/12/2011 16:38

I don't know what came over me. Soo not me..

maybe I was hacked...ahem cough splutter...blaming homones....,wipes tears..

miamamaClaus09 · 06/12/2011 16:49

aww fish you big softie! Xmas Wink that's lovely, and so true

Oeisha · 06/12/2011 16:55

Evening all!

fish you soppy thing! True though! Grin

m2b to you too.

capy Yay! Grin Good LO! Head down! Grin

Oh and "yay" to all the other good news. I'm sure I've missed stuff so apologies if I have.

Re: raspberry leaf tea. I swear I saw capsuals in Holland and Barret the other day...might make if less vomit inducing???

So I accidentally unpacked the dryer myself today. And I've been into town and shopped (mainly at work, so said hi to the gang etc). Slowy going BSM (crosshair BSM= bat-shit mental) rattling about this place being nagged by an overly affectionate Gizzard. Trips to the hospital do not count as "human contact", regardless of how lovely and patient the MWs/team are.

Also got some oil...just need the MWs ok. Not much fluid on top of usual discharge today, so hopefully DH can have at it tomorrow! Confused DH is enough of a scientist to find it "interesting" if not sexy...

parsley Yeah, re: wee. I'm fairly sure it's not wee as it doesn't look or smell like wee for me, but, well, there's a chace, wot with not having mi cervix checked yet. I don't think it is as there's no leaking when I sneeze, just seems to be when I'm sat possible leaning forward...and there's often a just plain damp feeling. MW yesterday was happy for me to monitor at home and talk to MW on Wed. Luckily only 3 incidents today...again, very little fluid.

Oeisha · 06/12/2011 16:59

All I can say is thank all-seeing-sky-pixie I copy my post before clicking 'post'...nearly lost all that.
Time to gently investigate more boxes.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 06/12/2011 17:13

MWs usually advise using a panty liner or ST if you might be leaking then they can check the... ahem, results, to see if it's amniotic fluid or not. I picked this up off another MN thread... Worth asking?

And fish I agree - it's almost as good as a real community of women together, only without the benefit of hugs, real hand holding and babysitting on tap!

Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 17:26

Hi all, Fish that's so sweet! :) I've really enjoyed the support from this thread too.

Really glad to hear that everyone that was in hospital is out of hospital and health concerns seem to be settling.

I've had a fun day, went to the dentist (not so fun, but they have hopefully got rid of my wisdom tooth infection so that's counted as a good thing). Then went to TKMaxx after a tip on here about slings and I never realised how brilliant it is! I've never been in there before. I didn't find a sling, but I got some baby blankets and cute clothes in neutral colours (so hard to find).

I also got some baby bottles - will be useful for trying to express or if breast feeding doesn't work for some reason. Still not packed the hospital bag but I'm beginning to feel more organised.

Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 17:35

Hello crosshair I've started to think about a birthplan - I want to do it by Thursday so I can run it by my midwife. I think the only 'kooky' bit in mine is that I want to pass the placenta naturally, but we'll see. There's a guide to making them on the NHS website. I'm on my phone, but you can find it by googling NHS birth plan. It's quite useful. Mine is going to include a note to my husband to remind me often to relax my jaw. Apparently it's linked to not being relaxed further down, and I often carry tension there. There's a few old threads on here too. One had 'do whatever is necessary to get the baby out safely, just inform me of what you are doing and why, without sugar coating'. I like that so it's now my headline. Below that, I have other preferences for if everything is going smoothly.

So in a change of topic, what's everyone having for dinner? I saw nachos at a cafe at lunchtime and they are all I can think of. Husband wants soup and cheese sandwiches (his favourite) but I had that for lunch. I need inspiration!

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 06/12/2011 17:36

Aww fish that is so true though - OH asked me a couple of months ago why I was on this thread. I explained that it was nice to have a bunch of ladies who were all supportive and roughly at the same point in pregnancy as me. It's just good to have people to discuss the nice and not so nice aspects of being pregnant with people who are going through the same thing. I've learnt so much from all of you and I think it makes all of us better equipped to ask the right questions to the MWs etc.. It obviously helps that you are all such a lovely bunch as well [festive cheesey grin Xmas Grin ].

Oeisha that's pretty much how I described it to the doctor - generally damp but not continuous. They pretty much ruled out urine when I said it didn't smell like urine (yes I did resort to sniffing my own knickers..) but the doctor did ask whether it got worse when I sat in certain positions or got up from lying down etc - which I think it does and in fact was proven by the speculum thingy. The gushing being caused by the fluid building up and then releasing. They were obsessed with whether I was wearing a pad/ liner and how much it had soaked through. I wasn't so couldn't tell them however, I am today and one liner certainly isn't enough for the day! Blush

The sneezing/ coughing thing isn't a good test though for wee because when they check with the speculum they also make you cough as that would also release the waters through the cervix if they are leaking - I'd take it as a positive if nothing happens when you do though.

Oeisha · 06/12/2011 18:06

parsley Humm, maybe I should get some liners. Sometimes it's been a bit close, but the gussets in my granny pants have coped as the leaks are not that regular. But the constant dampness is there. I'm guessing they don't care what liner (I know they do with mat pads, as sanitary towels have variable absorption rates and are generally more uncomfy etc for lochia). Got my 34wks apointment tomorrow, so will get some then, ran out a week or so ago.

moobee Curry...spicy curry.

Mulledbee · 06/12/2011 18:33

Just re-read my post - can I clarify I meant I carry tension in my jaw? Not lower down to the best of my knowledge. Grin

Thanks Oeisha! Hmm, hasn't quite usurped the idea of nachos...

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 06/12/2011 18:39

According to my hypno teacher tension in the jaw relates to tension down below - hence the need for 'horselips' when baby is crowning - it helps keep everything down below relaxed :)

So there you go!
