glad to hear on FB that addicted has been sent home from hospital, phewee. We might still keep all these bambinos in until after Father Christmas has been! Fingers crossed

2 weeks and 2 days of work left for me! (yawn) it's getting harder every day!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon and results come through quickly for those waiting on any!
Got consultant apt at hospital tomorrow, always dread them as they speak to you like sh1t and send you on your way. but hopefully I get something positive out of this one, we'll see.

Nanny01 · 05/12/2011 17:15

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs I had that with the first 2 children. Both my mum and dh's mum bottlefed. Apparently I was really sick and my aunty recommended evaporated milk. In those days they didn't steralise bottles either. If it's any consolation my mum tried to tell me about labour when she only did it once and had a forceps and epidural. I think I might know something on no5 me figure.

knittiekitty · 05/12/2011 17:16

What a lot of activity - thinking of you Oeisha and Addicted and thanks for FB update Maimama (I'm not on FB, maybe I'll find time one day as everyone else I know is). My nephew was born at 36 weeks 10 years ago and aside from a little jaundice didn't need any special care. Hang in there babies.

I was asked in all seriousness today, when are my twins due. Scan tomorrow but as I'm now 36 weeks I think I could happily go into labour - stretch rip marks are so painful & i'm desperate to eat cake again.

Mumtobe glad you enjoyed your curry but what a bummer about the car. I'd ring your MW too, surgery sounds ridiculously unhelpful. I had similar at the scanning unit and felt like snarling for the manager. Hope you're feeling better.

I've done huge amounts of washing today as DH finally got baby clothes out of the attic. They were stored cleaned and ironed (how did I do that?) but needed freshening. Lakeland heated airer a godsend - highly recommend but only with a sheet or duvet cover over it to keep the warmth in.

knittiekitty · 05/12/2011 17:25

Nanny01 & Fish - when I had my gest diabetes diagnosed my (overweight) mum gave me a lengthy lecture about eating too much convenience foods, and was I aware that there is hidden sugar in foods like ketchup. That was straight after I'd explained to her that the dietician was pleased with my diet, I mostly cook from scratch, that my bmi was healthy and that it is probably inherited from my grandmothers. Nod and smile through gritted teeth alright, especially when she said pregnancy is fussed over too much these days. Maybe it's a gift us mum's develop with age and accrued wisdom?

Nanny01 · 05/12/2011 17:41

knittiekitty- please tell me we won't become like our mums. Mine has defiantly got worse with age or is it learnt helplessness?

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 05/12/2011 17:45

nanny i had this very same conversation with 3 of my school playground mum mates today-were all having similar, our mums are driving us mad issues and I said "oh no it's inevitable, were all having this trouble. How do we not end up like them?" No one could answer me.!

maybe by then you simply don't give a shit.

My MIL is the oposite though, shes so utterly unassuming, terrified of interfering, she never even gives advice even when it's asked for and never ever makes a decision according to what she wants. She always defers. I'm not sure which is worse.

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 05/12/2011 19:11

Boo hoo. I'm stuck in the antenatal day unit waiting to see the doctor. It's OH's birthday today and not home to see him. He's not home from work yet tho and is on the train. At this rate he'll have to bring my bag in!

Crosshair · 05/12/2011 19:56

Hello, hoping to join you all. :) Currently 36 weeks and due on the 1st.

GiraffeAHolic · 05/12/2011 19:59

Hi Crosshair welcome to the thread. Just jump right in. I'm also 36 weeks due 2/1/2012 Smile

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 20:06

Woohoo! Another one! Welcome crosshair
Our stats thread if you're interested in adding you EDD.

parsley Sad Hopefullyl they'll let you out...but I'd be expecting a stay at this point! I assume all is compartively ok?! (Brain like a seive).

JL delivery's just happened! Sooo many boxes. But the tumble dryer's there Grin. Just got to find the energy to unpack it now...if DH lets me leave the sofa...

SlightlyScrambled · 05/12/2011 20:10

Welcome Crosshair. How has your pregnancy been treating you so far?

Great to hear too about Addicted been sent home. Also not on FB so great to get the update. Thanks!

I've been getting brax hicks every evening now and they are quite sore with back pain thrown in to the mix. But sitting on the ball really helps alleviate the pain at the moment. Here's hoping that it helps on D Day too.

Filled in my birth plan the other night. Put down on it that I don't want any drugs. DH kept asking if I was sure and saying he was worried that I won't be able to cope. Great support he's going to be if he doesn't change that tune. I get the feeling that now I can't moan about any pain on the day, or even now, or he'll be running looking for somebody to inject me with something. Xmas Sad

Bellakins · 05/12/2011 20:26

Hello all, I still can't believe how fast this thread moves! Just spent a good hour catching up! Sorry to hear about those with scary contraction type pains and was really sad to read about Deb's troubles.

Well, I've got 3 weeks left at work and cannot wait! Unbelievably busy and all I want to do is lie on the sofa and nap! Anyway, apart from feeling achey, not sleeping and heartburn I can't complain. Can't believe it's December already - next month we'll have our babies!!

addictediam · 05/12/2011 20:31

Just catching up from the comfort of my sofa! :o
Fish cheltenham tkmaxx is rubbish and hardly had any baby stuff last time I went in (admittedly about a year ago!)

I've been discharged from hospital with strict instructions to call and go back if the mucosy discharge gets pink, if Cx get stronger, if they start lasting more than 1.5minutes, if my back ache gets worse, they get closer together or I need to take regular pain killers. Luckly since getting home and being able to sleep in my own bed and cuddle my dd the Cx have turned into hb's irrigular short and not painful so its all looking good :o

I'm thinking i may have to rethink childcare for when i go into hospital next, i know she was safe and in the best place with my mum but being a 3 hour round trip away was hard. Not being able to see her at all was horrible. I may see if one of my friends can have her instead at least that way she can visit me in hospital.

Fish I have a mil who doesn't believe in bf and thinks we should ff. Infact won't let me bf in their house. I was planning on doing bf and expressing but on principle won't take expressed milk when we go visit.

There have been so many posts (and probably so many more since i started typing this sorry to thoes ive missed oeisha hope everything is ok with you. I think its very important we all start crossing our legs and checking our hospital bags!!

anyone want 2 free boxes from Graze (healthy/unhealthy nuts/fruit/choc whatever you like - sent to you through your door in handy little cartons)? I got 2 '2-boxes for free' vouchers in the post to send to friends. Most of my friends and family already use Graze to a certain extent already. This is the website if anyone's interested. PM your address and I'll stick them in the post. Am posting this on Facebook too though so if you want them be quick! Each box usually worth £3.49, so a 2 box voucher is worth £7. Smile

rednosedreindeerhead · 05/12/2011 20:33

sorry i x-posted everybody in sight! welcome crosshairs! Grin

addictediam · 05/12/2011 20:55

I forgot to tell you why they thought this happened. There was no sign of a uti despite protine in my urine, they think I was slightly dehydrated and 'starving' myself Xmas Blush I'd had a breakfast bar for lunch as we were on our way out the door but hadnt managed to have lunch when I decided to call the mw. They also think contributing factors were sex Sunday morning double Xmas Blush, lots of walking and raspberry leaf tea in my system. I'm not alowed raspberry leaf tea until after Christmas, have to avoid walking around too much and take it easy, avoid sex (we hadnt had sex for weeks, it was just a 1 off!) and stay hydrated and fed! But they honestly don't know why it happened they can only just guess

red - count me in if you've any left!

Nanny01 · 05/12/2011 21:13

addictediam - just glad you are ok. I think personally they really don't understand why these things happen but I guess eating well and keeping hydrated isn't going to hurt. Glad your ok.

rednosedreindeerhead · 05/12/2011 21:19

ok one down to makes! roll up roll up all you other ladies if you want free nibbles through your door! decided not to post on facebook until all you guys have had a chance, you all deserve it more! Grin makes PM me your address and I'll stick them in the post tomorrow.

addicted you sexy beast just stop it at once!!!!!! possible TMI but I haven't had any action for weeks since my OH had his... er...knob op, and the consultant said today it would be another 2-4 weeks....so i hope we can get some more nooky in before the baby comes out!!! i intended to use sexy time as a practical labour bringer-on so I hope he heals up soon!!!

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 21:26

addicted It's soooo good to be home isn't it! Rest up now...I'm being made to. All those boxes and I'm not allowed near them...

Has anyone been doing perineal massage? Just wondering what people were using...I wondered whether olive oil asn't best?
Though I guess I'm going to have to wait for the swab results to...

rednosedreindeerhead · 05/12/2011 21:27

i've got almond oil at the ready Grin

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 05/12/2011 21:39

oiesha I used sweet almond oil last time-I haven't bothered this time yet but i'm thinking I may get dh to start soon. I had to have an episiotomy last time failed forceps attempt, but my healing was really rapid in that dept and i had no pain from it at all so i do think it's worth it. Olive will do the job nicely-even the cooking olive will do it..

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 22:04

Hehehehe!

Crosshair · 05/12/2011 22:04

Cheers for the welcomes!

I've had a pretty smooth pregnancy so far, just the usual aches and pains. I think the baby started to 'drop' yesterday, I had a very odd sensation while trying to walk and my tummys gone an odd shape. :)

My mum and mil are also very pro ff, so much so my mum has already bought formula and bottles as apparently im doomed to fail at bf!

Have you all made birth plans, I have no idea how to start one? Confused
