Hopefully no one else has done it while my phone is messing about!

OP posts:

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 10:37

OK, so rang MW, who made me ring triage, who now want to check for sure that my waters aren't leaking...off to Stepping Hill I go...seriously Hmm.
MIL's taking me so DH can deal with JL delivery and maybe try and do a bit more work.

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 10:38

Sounds like you shoudl ring your MW too...parsley.

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 05/12/2011 10:45

oiesha I dont think there is any harm in calling the mw for chat. Do you have times for your JL delivery or are they as friendly as Mothercare who just tell you which day they will come?

Im quite happy to with full term being 37 weeks. Only a few more days to go. Eek!!
This month is going scarily fast and we're not anywhere near ready to get the tree out the loft never mind up and decorated.
Dp said to Dd this morning that she will be getting to meet her DB/S in a few weeks Shock
Where has the time went?!?!?!?

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 05/12/2011 10:46

Sorry xpost oiesha, hopefully they wont keep you in all day fx and cross your legs just incase x

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 10:53

I'm fairly sure I'm not going to pop.
JL delivery is between 2 and 9...could ring them to narrow it down, but as I'm going to recieve it either way it's probably not needed. FIL can always come and take it in...assuming it doens't get called off 'cos of snow (roads are clear still).

Mum2be79 · 05/12/2011 11:02

NOT a brilliant start to my maternity leave. I've been poorly since Wednesday (cough, sore throat, headache that just WILL NOT go away). Rang the surgery this morning - I'm sure it would have been easier trying to get through to Number 10 Downing Street and having a personal chat with the PM - but managed to make an appointment for 10:40am.

Went to start the car. Won't start!!!!!! Tried to seek neighbours to give me a lift - nobody in. Rang the surgery to tell them my problem but they were totally unhelpful. Couldn't allow me to wait 30 minutes (despite people always there before their appointment and going in my slot instead) or book me in for anytime today - despite being open until 7pm!!! Told them I was 36 week pregnant with a horrendous headache for the past 5 days but that didn't seem to concern the 'very young' receptionist who by this time was listening to my sniffles. Slammed the phone down and 'thanked' them for their 'helpfulness'.

Totally isolated. I'm sure it's just a virus but I just want to scream!!!! Can't even get to the antenatal day unit to have my blood pressure checked out because I live in a village with no transport to get there. Angry

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 11:13

m2b I hope you find someone to get you to ADU...

...waiting is just grr!

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 11:29

Holy crap. MIL can't actually get to me. Apparently they haven't gritted or even thought about clearing the snow yet and the town is at a standstill due to an accident...with ambulances and fire engines in scene...Go Derbyshire/High Peak!!!

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 11:59

OMG! Stepping Hill are now "talking with" local MWLU to see what they can do...
MWLU "can't do a speculum at 33wks" Hmm.
This is exactly why I'm nervous about winter babies!!!! Though at least I can always call an ambulance when in labor.
JL can't get ahold of driver to narrow down options...or to even just auto-plan a re-delivery. They are however happy for him to try and fail to deliver and re-deliver as soon as they can manage.

Mulledbee · 05/12/2011 12:38

Oh blimey Oeisha, hope you manage to get there ok!

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 05/12/2011 12:39

Pants Oeisha - bloody weather not making it easy for you Xmas Hmm

I also have to go in to triage - but have a 5.30 appt as I'm not exactly "gushing". They just want to make sure... I'm in the office at the moment in London - how do I explain this without panicking everybody. I'll be really embarrassed if it's just urine...

Nanny01 · 05/12/2011 12:39

Hope those sneaky contractions go away ladies. I get some braxton Hicks but nothing that keeps going. I have found there is now some discharge slightly more liquidy but remember this from my other pregnancy's.

Mum2be79 sorry your feeling so rotten with the headaches to. Doctors receptionist can be right controlling wotsits. I have sat in the docs for an hr once. Don't be afraid to call your midwife if it gets worse for advice.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 05/12/2011 12:43

Morning all, after my ahem "clear out" last night I slept like a log and felt really good today. All the pain has gone, I am so relieved. Thanks ever so much for all your concern ladies-it's so nice to know folks are thinking of you. I'm going to keep up the lactulose now i have found a way of taking it that doesn't make me gag, but dropping the fybogel, that could be slight overkill!

addicted i hope youre ok xx If theres anything i can do give me a shout x

Been into town this morning, wore myself out going in 4 shops! had a coffee with a school mum, we seem to be becoming friends, really nice easy to talk to. She has 2 boys, her eldest is my DD's best mate at school.

I was very dissapointed our TKmaxx doesn't have the close slings in stock :( I can't be doing with going to cheltenham or anywhere like that to find a bigger branch so I guess thats a no for me. I think i'm going to find myself slingless at this rate, my ring sling has been lent to a friend and I doubt i'm going to get it back despite asking twice and I can't find one anywhere for a reasonable price. I loved my sling with dd, i really don't want to be without this time.

Off to ebay to see if there are any there.

oiesha sorry to hear of your snow combined with health issues, I hope youre ok and you can get sorted soon xxx

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 05/12/2011 13:18

What a crap Monday all round!
m2b sorry to hear of your doc troubles. Can you not demand a home visit?
oiesha I hope you manage to get to the hosp soon x
Glad your feeling more human again fish
Good luck this evening parsley

Oeisha · 05/12/2011 13:28

So, been to MWLU who wouldn't so speculum, but kinda agreed with me that monitoring the levels of fluid out (as it's so little, maybe 1ml max at a time), and only about 3-4 times a day, we should be fine. Any change and I'm to go to triage. Abi seems fine (bashing about OK and heartrate was good). My BP and urine are fine, so rest up, drink lots and monitor seems to be the way forward. Swabs taken (by me, they didn't want to do it - low vag ones as they won't to the speculum) so will find out Fri if it showed any sign of infection.

fish glad you're feeling better. It's amazing how horrid being even a bit bunged-up can make you feel!

addcited Still thinking of you...fx...

parsley good luck with your appointment. FX.

I now feel like I've run a marathon...it's only 5 mins away, but down and up hill. Not as easy in the snow either.
Most of the schools in the area are closing as were expecting yet more snow. Just how incompetent can one council be?!

Right, I'd better start that "resting" thing. Sad I wanna play with my JL toys!!!

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 05/12/2011 13:35

Did they test it to check whether it was amniotic fluid Oeisha? I told the triage MW on the phone it was only about that much but she wanted to check anyway.

I suppose once you've phoned they have to do something as if you're worried about a particular thing and you have some symptoms they have to check, even if it's quite unlikely.

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 05/12/2011 13:37

PS - have they tracked down your JL driver yet?

That MWLU sounds quite handy for non-emergency stuff - as a back up anyway.

Mum2be hope you managed to get seen in the end or are you still housebound?

rednosedreindeerhead · 05/12/2011 13:59

fryn you have SIX WEEKS of work left???? jesus christ that's horrendous. poor you. i thought you were giving birth in about 7 weeks aren't you?? Shock

we reached 33 wks today and it's freaking us both out that we're so close.... and I found out today that after 35 wks your baby pretty much comes out of hosp straight away and isn't considered preemie usually, so thats TWO WEEKS AWAY. oh my gosh. addicted hope yours stays in a bit longer and you get to have your holiday without any stress.

good luck today sage oeisha and mum2be, hope you all get apptmnts and they're all stress free in the end...

we have another carpet and all the nursery furniture coming next week so today we have been beavering about unpacking boxes and moving junk from one place to another... Hmm the piles of crap never seem to get any smaller even though we've taken 4 bags of things to charity, loads of stuff to the tip, 2 bags of fabric and shoes to recycling centre.... all it's doing is making me tired and grumpy!!!

added to which the woman next door has been playing her violin badly and repetitively for nearly TWO HOURS NOW. I don't even practice that much any more!!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 05/12/2011 14:02

Mum2be - call the doctors again and ask to speak to another receptionist, a manager or a damn doctor. They should be taking you seriously and you need to be pushy about it I'm afraid. Wish I could help...

Had 3 wk MW appt today. MW took some extra blood to test for PE because I'm still feeling off colour and getting palpitations and funny BP readings (today it was suddenly really low). Results on Weds. Am glad just to have it checked, it's really put my mind at rest.

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 05/12/2011 14:04

Fryn I have seven weeks of work left so you are not alone....

rednosedreindeerhead · 05/12/2011 14:10
Xmas Shock
MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 05/12/2011 14:21

7 weeks left? I've had to have 2 naps already today! I could not cope with FT work... mind you, I have 5 1/2 weeks left till due date so

Speaking of work...Ghost- how's the handover going? Did you get my insanely long PM?

Wormshuffler · 05/12/2011 14:23

My word girls, its all getting very real and frankly scary on here today!
Sorry your little ones are putting you through the mill. And that things settle down again very quickly. The weather seems to compound the worries too. I am very glad I have a midwife next door and another one up the road should there be an emergency.

I'm watching bringing home baby while wrapping presents. The dad has just done a speadsheet to monitor the amounts of feed and dirty nappies Shock it made me think of you guys.
Here's Wine to an event less next 2 or 3 weeks to give them more time I'm the warm and cosy wombs.
I am 35 weeks tomorrow.

SageandOnionStuffingLion · 05/12/2011 14:32

To be honest I have a feeling that I may not last the full 7 weeks and might change it to 13/1 instead of 20/1. I only have 8 wks to go until D-Day in theory but OH is convinced bubs is coming in December so if that's true it blows my ML out of the water completely!

I'm going to be working from home over Xmas and most of Jan so it shouldn't be as bad as it sounds.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 05/12/2011 14:38

gggrrrr-My mother has just annoyed me with some "advice" she just doesn't get breastfeeding at all and is one of those outdated old fashioned bottle feeding "Oh just give 'em a bottle " types.

Thats all very well mum but please don't advise me on breastfeeding when i gave actually done 12 months more of it than you in your whole life and yes I happen to belive in feeding on demand, yes it's inconvenient and time consuming and as for your "never did you or your sister any harm" you'll never know if thats why were both obese, why we were both prone to ear nose and throat infections as children. I happen to enjoy breastfeeding and got a lot out of it. Oh and please don't refer to it as "bot bots!" you sounds like a lunatic (oh yeah you are i forgot)

I wouldn't mind but i wasn't even talking about breastfeeding at the time, she just decided to barrel in about it. She's given my sister the same lecture. The annoying thing is she does have good advice to give too and that i'd like to hear but she is not experienced, trained or equipped to give breastfeeding advice.
