Where are you with the snow??

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 04/12/2011 15:08

Someone was looking for the Stats List

snow im in central Scotland, its not lying here but the hills are covered and it seems to be lying everywhere else. I specifically requested that it stayed away until the baby was born so im hoping my forcefield over the village can holding the worst of it for another few weeks!

36 weeks today!

ParsleyLion1 · 04/12/2011 15:11

OMG ladies! I've been off to JL to order my crib and pushchair - I get back and you've all gone hb manic!

addicted hope all ok and they are keeping you in to monitor. Baby still has 9 wks to go so hopefully it will all calm back down.

addictediam · 04/12/2011 16:11

Hi ladies, still not had. a chance to catch up. Ive been admitted as they think I'm in early labour. I've been given steroids and am staying in for at least 24 hours. Little bit worries as I'm only 31weeks not 32wks like I thought!

Addicted - thinking of you - keep us updated!

I had my mum and dad up today. They brought lunch and a chest of drawers for our changing station and fed me and made me feel sooo much better. Am still a bit concerned about this headache/puffy thing, but can hold out until tomorrow I think.

Fish - any updates? It sounds like natural labour to me...

ParsleyLion1 · 04/12/2011 16:22

Well you are in the right place addicted - if it's any reassurance I know a few people who have gone into labour this early and other than baby being early all has been well.

FX for you and bubba - keep us updated xx

supadupaturkeystupour · 04/12/2011 16:25

OMG addicted and Fish cross your blummin legs!!!!! arghhhhh

All the best ladies, fingers crossed it all calms down asap, I am truly rooting for you!

How you feeling cakes?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 16:27

I'm OK - no abdominal pains, no headache, just puffy and pins and needles :)

Got MW tomorrow so that's reassuring.
Am just concerned about fish and addicted...

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 04/12/2011 16:44

hiya, im ok. still having pains but i'm sure it's not labour. i think it may be constipation. I have been to the loo everyday this week but it's still quite hard. going to have to take lactulose i just know it, but bork.

haven't done much today, ventured to dd's xmas fayre at school but had to leave after 10 minutes, in too much pain.

haven't rung anyone but i promise i will if anything changes.
addicted hun i'm worried about u. too early :( if things carry on i may well see you up there. at least i am only 5 weeks off, not 9

sorry for terrible typing, on side on sofa typing one handed leaning lap top on other arm.

thanks for concern all xxxxx

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 04/12/2011 16:47

Keeping fx for both of you (and everyone else with pains/concerns). Rest up, ladies!

Mulledbee · 04/12/2011 16:54

Thinking of you both Addicted and Fish x

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 16:55

fish - at least you're only 2 and a half weeks away from being full term, so that's something - just relax and breathe slowly and keep drinking water in case it is bowels.

Apparently diaorrhoea is a good sign that labour is imminent, so keep an eye out for a very speedy reversal of the constipation!

ParsleyLion1 · 04/12/2011 17:06

cakes my physio said that in the later stages of pregnancy the fluid retention can cause carpal tunnel syndrome which manifests inself in pins & needles in the hands and arms. It was a while ago but I'm sure she said that neck massage would help relieve it.

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 04/12/2011 17:07

Oh addicted rest up and keep your legs crossed! Your in safe hands. Keep telling bump its too cold to come out and stay in until after Christmas x

ParsleyLion1 · 04/12/2011 17:08

fish I'd take the lactulose. I know you're reluctant to (it makes me feel yeugh so I can understand it) but best to be on the safe side.

rednosedreindeerhead · 04/12/2011 17:09

good luck addicted and fish we're all thinking of you!!! xxx

rednosedreindeerhead · 04/12/2011 17:24

need some advice ladies....
I've been invited to do a gig with my quartet in April which would probably be fine (babba will be 3 months old and I've already accepted an easy baby-friendly London gig in March) except that it's in Italy, and I would possibly be away for 2 nights. I am investigating whether they'd pay for my OH to come along, but probably not.

Those of you with kids already - what do you think? I am planning on breastfeeding but also expressing so Lawrence can feed it and bond with it when I'm at work.

It feels a bit early to me, but I have no experience so no idea!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 17:27

Hrm, tricky. I'd say it'd be a lot of work to get that amount of milk expressed and your DH would have to be very available time-wise. A friend of mine did this for a couple of days, but her bubs was about 6 months an part-weaned, so not as reliant on the milk as he had been...

supadupaturkeystupour · 04/12/2011 18:18

red i would say express what you can when you can and freeze it, but i really don't think you will have enough by then ready for 2 days. I would say make it easy for OH and get some cartons in to top up with. The most important thing will be that you CONTINUE to express every 4hrs or so so that you keep your supply going. If that is not going to be possible then that is what will cause the breastfeeding issues IMO.
I would be tempted to leave OH and baby at home with the formula for top ups once the freezer supply is gone, take an electric breast pump and stick yourself on it whenever you can :-)

LetItSHOLetItSnow · 04/12/2011 18:20

Very tricky red
Personally I wouldn't go at that age especially if bf.
However if your oh can go as well you will need to get baby a passport. Is that money that can be spared?
What ever decision you make, make sure your 100% content with it.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 04/12/2011 18:42

oh - and some bf babies will not take bottles... and sometimes bf babies lose interest in the breast after experiencing bottles... just two more things to take into account...

Oeisha · 04/12/2011 19:34

addicted FX the contractions go and LO stays in. They seemed to hang on a lot to my cervix being shut, no waters and head not being engaged with me. Oh, and don't the steroid injections hurt a lot more than you think they would! FX and massive . I ended up finding the CTG very calming. Able to see that Abi wasn't in distress, was good. Even if I was.

fish Lactulose is a little, erm, sweet isn't it. But still, better than constipation...I do NOT want those contractions back and constultant said that this was another possibility as "it's almost happened once for you"...though we think it was def UTI causing mine as as soon as that went down, so did the contractions (then had 2 more days of no bowl movements). Positive vibes your way too. We have over half a thread to fill before I feel it's acceptable for our first LO to appear! Hmm

As for bf and travel, I've been told to not even think about making decisions about going away solo, until bf is established (or ff). Not to bottle feed breast milk until about 3-4wks in to avoid nipple rejection and to then, see how it goes as some babies won't acept both...
..I would love DH to be involved, but I think it totally depends on baby.

Lots of tidying's happened. We now have some space for the LJ delivery...and silly amount of packaging that will come with it.

addictediam · 04/12/2011 20:41

Red I wouldn't have been able to do it and dd was ff.

Oeshia my cervix is closed but very soft, and although protine is in my urine its a trace and there is no infection, so not being caused by that.

Oeisha · 04/12/2011 20:45

addicted just posted on your thread. Thinking cervix tight-shut thoughts for you...

addictediam · 04/12/2011 20:47

Cx are getting less frequent but are stronger and longer than before, mw are hopeful they will ease off and I can go home tomorrow

I really don't want this baby to come yet as we have a Christmas holiday booked and i was really looking forward to seeing Santa, polar bears, raindeer, carolers and fireworks. :(
