Hi ladies,

Has anyone on here had a 32wk scan? My hospital give one as standard and i just wondered what predicted baby weights were? The sonographers and midwife keep telling us baby will be on small side but normal. I had a scan today (33+2) and they said she weighs approx 4lb 4oz based on measurements. From what i can see online this is 'average' but they keep on saying it will be a small baby....both OH and I are relatively small boned and weighed 6lb and 6lb 8oz at birth but does that have anything to do with it?

For what it's worth my bump is also on the small side...measuring 29cm at my last midwife appo at 31+3. Midwife is not concerned as reckons it's down to good stomach muscles lol.

I want to know in order to buy the right clothes sizes!! Tiny or newborn?!

ParsleyLion1 · 30/11/2011 20:16

I might need one k4mi but won't know until next week - did they say what small might be?

In Mothercare when I looked on Saturday, Tiny Baby was up to 7.5 pounds and Newborn up to 10.5

fishandlilacs · 30/11/2011 20:16

k4mi-I have had scans almost fortnightly. They keep telling me baby is of a good size for me but its only 85% accurate anyway. I really wouldn't worry.

At 32+2 my last scan, he was 5lb 3oz.

All I can say is that Newborn size was plenty big enough on DD and she was a solid 9lb 10oz born, I find mothercare and tescos to be the most generously sized brands.

supadupapupascupa · 30/11/2011 20:21

Grin Grin Grin

I had a 32week 'fat bird' scan and they just plotted the measurements on the charts in my notes...no mention of a weight (aren't they notoriously wrong anyway?)

I am measuring bang on average still but baby is breech Sad

debs39 · 30/11/2011 20:41

Am going to go ff the thread now as can't really focus on happy baby news when husband is a liar and a cheat and have to pour energies now into trying to just eat and look after my little boy. Good luck to you all . God bless xxx

fishandlilacs · 30/11/2011 20:43

ParsleyLion1 · 30/11/2011 20:45

addictediam · 30/11/2011 21:24

Oh debs I am so sorry, stay in touch via the fb group and maybe when your feeling stronger come and find us. x

Supa do you mind keeping it down about the spreadsheet if dh catches wind of it he'll start one, no scratch that he'll start a data base with graphs and audits and... it just doesnt bear thinking about.
Gah he read over my shoulder while I was wondering and thinks its a great idea, damn you! :o

fishandlilacs · 30/11/2011 21:29

supa dh says that you haven't done a good enough job unless there a graphs showing trends or calculated the standard deviation, he say he expects to have figures on his desk by friday morning :) I didn't realise engineers and accountants were cut from the same cloth!

Mum2be79 · 30/11/2011 21:43

FrillyMilly friends bought it for him for his birthday in August! He refuses to read it (going for his doctorate but admits to only liking to 'look at pictures'!?!)

Debs Me too thinking of you. xx

Went to the 'classes' tonight. I was expecting about 6-10 people to be there but was gobsmacked when I counted 28!!! 20 bloody 8 people!!!!! All (except 1) had their partners there so it was raspberry blowing for me towards DH.
He said he found some bits useful but it was a waste of time really !?!?Confused
He did admit to being uncomfortable (despite the number of Dads) so he won't be going to the rest (I will respect his decision but I'm making him do the first nappy change and bath as he reckons he'll 'figger it out'!)

There was a really horrible couple sitting next to us (obviously 'above' everyone else, range rover drivers - sorry if anyone is one!) who kept sending text messages, playing games on their phone, tutting and then spouting off loudly "Why would I want to give my phone number to complete strangers?" (I think she missed the point of it - to make new friends - and that you could just give an email address which everyone else did!) It's a good job really because SHE is one lady I will be glad to ignore! A tenner she doesn't come next week! She was the only one who refused to engage with others or want to make new friends.

Back to work tomorrow (nursing a poorly throat, chest, ears and head) but at least I've only 2 days (Friday PPA time) and my replacement is 'taking over' from tomorrow so I can 'rest' in the staff room getting up to date with the assessments and rest my poorly voice. I'm going to miss my class and colleagues (worked with them for 11 years and they've seen me 'grow up'). Though normally I would take the rest of the work as sick, I'm determined to see out work until maternity begins!

shonnomanom · 30/11/2011 21:45

Oh debs im so sorry that you are in this horrible situation. Will be thinking of you (((hugs)))

Im actually kind of Envy that you have had time and patience to measure all the baby stuff and collate the info on to a ss!! Grin
Ps Im a nanny not engineer or accountant lol

I saw the mw this morning for my 36week check at 35weeks. Bump isnt any bigger than last week but she did go into detail about what will happen when I meet the consultant on Dec21st(38w).
She said depending on the position of the placenta they will probably try to manipulate the baby to head down position. This is allowing that the physio oks that procedure. The conversation kept returning to a c-section which they will aim to do at 39weeks. So looks like I could be having a 2011 baby ladies!!

Ladies of Crutches My wrists are really starting to ache, any tips?

fishandlilacs · 30/11/2011 21:51

shonno have you padded the handles.

I haven't needed to use mine for ages luckily, but then I drive everywhere. SPD no where near as bad as it was last time and the sciatica is pretty good too.

shonnomanom · 30/11/2011 21:54

I havent fish no, its only in my left wrist and only started a few days ago. Im not usually on them for very long but iv been out and about more this last week and have been really feeling the ache
Congrats to you on feeling better x

shonnomanom · 30/11/2011 22:10

Just saw that xkatyx has been booked in for a c-section on 21dec

addictediam · 30/11/2011 22:23

TMI WARNING Anyone else have piles and is there an over the counter thing i can use? I really don't want to go to the Dr as I went just after i had millie, had to show her and was told it wasnt that bad and not to worry about it. But this time i know its worse as i'm quite sore :( but really dot want to show all to all and sundry until I have to ie in labour! Anyone have any ideas?

supadupapupascupa · 30/11/2011 22:27

i would just like to point out that the spreadsheet was for a good reason. my DS was very long in the body and as a result some clothes didn't get worn even though they were the right 'age'. Same goes for dungarees (in fact they were the worst!!) Being skint this time around, I am determined not to waste anything so thought that sorting by size was a good idea Grin The spreadsheet was so that I could see where the gaps were and what shop sizes to buy to fill them. All very sensible me thinks. Fish tell your DH I can do him a TQM guide to the wardrobe if that suits Grin

addictediam · 01/12/2011 06:18

Another item for your hospital bags ladies, if your struggling with your pelvic floor (the dignity of pregnancy hey!) And usually wear some form of tenna lady etc put a few of these in your bag. If you end up going in early or having a overnight stay/false alarm you wont want to be using the more expensive not as comfortable maternity towels

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 01/12/2011 08:05

fish - engineers are terrible for spreadsheets - DH has one for everything. With colours that automatically change depending on the data entered and so on. It makes my head spin.

Debs - so sorry to hear what you're going through. Hope you and your little boy are OK xx

Ugh. Stretch marks getting worse - sore and itchy. Feel like I'm splitting open like a ripe fruit. Bio Oil is a fucking con.

Wormshuffler · 01/12/2011 08:34

Loving the speadsheet chatter, my dh decided he wanted to do some christmas shopping this year for the first time ever, my nose was put out of joint a bit to be honest. Anyway I have discovered there is a christmas present speadsheet! with columns for person, ordered, arrived, price and wrapped. Grin

Hope you are ok Debs, if you are still looking. x

I got terrible stretch marks cakes with my dc's so far this pg I have been using aldi own bio oil and have no new ones. Also my old ones are looking better.

I have my 34 weeks midwife app today. I think baby is still breech, but am due to have elcs anyway, will they still send me for a scan do you reckon? it would be nice to see baby again.

supadupapupascupa · 01/12/2011 09:12

omg worm I HAVE A XMAS PRESSY SPREADSHEET TOO!!!!!! Grin but it has columns for budget, spent so far, remainder to be spent, ordered, arrived, wrapped and delivered. And i get a bit excited when i find a bargain and come in under budget Grin

supadupapupascupa · 01/12/2011 09:14

i don't have any new stretchmaks either this time around. I got LOADS with DS. And yes, mine also look better Smile

ParsleyLion1 · 01/12/2011 09:21

I have an Xmas present spreadsheet as well Blush- mine just has the present bought on it plus an additional column for birthdays as 90% of friends and family have birthdays in Dec/Jan. I use the previous sheets to ensure I don't duplicate presents year on year!

Oeisha · 01/12/2011 09:36

addicted I've been using preparation-H and bathing with bath salts (as in sea salt bath salts)....thanks to someone on here...can't rember who, but thank you! Seems to 'work' in that when I stop, they get worse, though mine are fairly insignigificant. Also, when wiping, use moist toilet wipe thingies. And...oh, don't strain when you poop, just wait for your body to expel naturally...and thus eat as healthy, gut-friendly a diet as possible, including upping your liquids to avoid constipation. Advice also says, if it's not too painful, use something like KY-jelly, or even just soap-free body washes to gently push them back in if you can. However, if they're painful when you walk/sit I'd show them to your GP/MW anyway, there may be more they can do.

Others have used things like witch hazel, but I haven't. There have been plenty of threads recently about them!

Re: spreadsheets. Scary stuff ladies...I've been told I'm freakish for writing down who wrote me a card last year (I keep for 2 years to allow for a shit postal service hiccups) and using this to go off. And writing present ideas as I see them in my diary (we have a secret santa system, so no point in buying when I see).

Weird dreams last night. One about kissing my ex-boss on a raised flowerbed in the middle of my old university town Hmm and the other about both my furbabies somehow getting on the bus with me (different trips) and running about town. Me, knowing how wussy they both are is frantically trying to contact DH to bring the carriers into town...thinking I don't want to do the bus thing, as that means leaving 1 behind whilst I bus tht other one...oh and one had a poorly leg....scary thing being DH had a dream Bo had a poorly leg too Confused.

Off to the consultant this morning. Not really sure what to expect. Does it still hurt? Yes. Is it bearable? Yes. No idea if I'm meant to take a urine sample (every other HCP seems obsessed), but I'm guessing not, as they'd have told me to. Ah well.

Hope we all have super-happy-fun-productive days! Hmm
