Rrrray I've got my scan tomorrow at 10.40 Xmas Smile so nervous.

Wrt to maternity clothes, obviously everyones style is different, I'm living in legins/tights and long tops and jumpers as they have that extra give.

Had a really rubbish day yesterday!!!

Had to leave work as I started bleeding. Went home and called the "any bleeding" no in my notes - who after a gazillion questions told me to go to A&E as only 12 weeks. Sat 2 hours in A&E before being sent to Gynae/Early Pregnancy, sat another 2 hours waiting to be seen.Luckily by this point the bleeding had settled and was just passing small amounts of old blood.

Was examined by a very uncompassionate Dr who basically said - got to wait and see as there is nothing they could do at this point anyhow (Which I know but it was the way she said it) And then got booked in for a "reassure me" scan on 30/12 Shock

And if I was to start bleeding heavily and "can't take it" to come back to A&E Angry

Stayed home today and things seem ok...

TeaandHobnobs · 07/12/2011 19:41

Well, everything was ok at the scan - but I feel a bit deflated as my cyst is still the same size Xmas Sad and the sonographer implied that nothing can really be done about it. I asked if I should go back to the GP but she suggested it would be better to bring it up with the MW.

But other than that, measurements were all fine, test results show very low risk. Chuckled a bit at some of the comments on the report ("spontaneous conception" and "view restricted by overlying bowel gas"! Xmas Blush). EDD remains the same.

Now trying to face up to the need to to start telling people. I am irrationally scared of telling my parents - even though I know they'll will be happy/excited! DH wants to tell his parents before the weekend as they are meeting for an intense chat (divorced, get on well but currently having a bit of a disagreement over maintenance) on Saturday, and he thinks some good news may take some heat off a potentially unpleasant/difficult meeting.

Good luck tomorrow jjingle!

novamama sorry your shopping trip was a bust - I'm finding the same problems with maternity clothing, and the situation is starting to get desperate! Biggest problem is needed to wear trousers to go out on construction site inspections, and currently I am holding the fly closed with a hair elastic and trying to wearnlong enough tops to cover up the fact that my trousers aren't done up! Xmas Shock

Hope everyone else is doing well.

TeaandHobnobs · 07/12/2011 19:44

Oh ffnorm you poor thing! Glad things seem more settled today, but what a horrible experience! I can't believe they didn't scan you at the emergency unit!!! Shock

I hope everything remains quiet for you on that front

JjingleBeanplusPudalltheway · 07/12/2011 20:11

Thinking of you ffnorm sounds like they gave you a rough time when you needed it least, why not give your midwife a call tomorrow and beg for a scan. They can't just leave you waiting that long. Rest lots, take care x x x

tea sorry to hear the cyst hasn't shrunk. My aunt had a large cyst when pregnant with my younger cousin and it caused her no problem and just removed it at her planned section, all fine still 7yrs later.

When I was pregnant with ds, I wore jeans, nothing else and the 'bumpband' was fab. Little extenders with pannels to tuck into the 'gap' on your jeans. Worked well for me. I got them from bumpto3.com, but that was nearly 5yrs ago.

Hi all!
I think I'm blooming!!!!! hooray! Eating like a horse now too!
ffnorm make sure you get plenty of rest and you are being looked after. I'm suprised you have to wait so long for a scan - I guess there are a lot of regional variations.
teaandhobnobs I do that too! You can get 'bump bands' from topshop, around £7 that cover the undone flies very nicely indeed and I always found them useful afterwards too when breastfeeding, as you have a bit less flesh showing!!!!

Anyway, have to go... in laws have called in - such fun!

See you all soon (metaphorically speaking!)

xx xx xx

Miniangel · 07/12/2011 21:00

Hi All

Congrats on the scan news Florin , Kayzr and Tea.

I had my sacn today too and all is well. Baby was waving at us and wriggling away. It took a while to get the nuchal fold measurement. Low risk so all is well. MyEDD is bumped up by 4 days and is the 15th now. Warlin I am with you now.

Yesterday after a long time felt a bit better and had loads of energy so it seems that after 12 weeks things are starting to get better (atleast I hope so).

Good luck tomorrow Jjingle

ecstatica · 07/12/2011 21:33

Hi gals,

FFnorm felt very frustrated and annoyed after reading your post. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that 'medical professionals' can be extremely unprofessional and insensitive!!!! I hope you are resting now. Pls let us know how you are tomorrow.

I did not throw up today!!! I cleaned, did laundry, cooked 2 days of meals and was a new me. This happened once before and it only lasted a day or two so not counting my chickens but it does feel good! :)

I'm wondering where Dogwalker and Greengoose are ... hoping all is ok.

Great scan news gals, whoopeeeeeeee!!!!! Keep em coming!

Note can't remember who mentioned this, somebody asked that we didn't mention measurements a while back because she or someone close (so sorry cant remember details) worried a lot over other people's comparing them. Have I gotten that right?

My scan tomorrow along with JJ and also delivery of the bloody sofa that I've been waiting weeks for Hmm so if it doesn't turn up before 10ish I'm off to scan alone! Lovely.

Time for nibbles x

ecstatica · 07/12/2011 21:36

NovMama - I recommend (after having ordered them last week) maternity trousers and tops from Next. I bought the linen mix trousers (short leg) and a couple of tunic tops (both surprisingly on sale) and have been fine.
I could not bare maternity shopping at this time of year, particularly if even one of my DC had to tag along.

CaptainNemo · 07/12/2011 22:15

Evening all. I came on to check scan news (absolutely delighted for you all!) and was then gearing up for a serious shopping chat with Novmamma but am so f^@"%#g FURIOUS about the way Ffnorm* has been treated that's all totally gone out of my head!
Ffnorm It is OUTRAGEOUS that you should be told to wait til 30/12, especially as Christmas comes in between now and then. Not to mention that am pretty positive it doesn't comply with the NICE guidelines for the treatment of bleeding in pregnancy. How are you feeling about things now? Do you want a scan now? Have you experienced anything similar during previous pregnancies? (sorry so many questions Xmas Blush). Have various suggestions about avenues you could pursue to get seen asap, but don't want to step out of line/have even more of a rant if it's not what you want to hear. Am thinking of you lovely, and am keeping everything firmly crossed for you and your bean. (Would put a couple of kisses if this were a text, but don't want to get flamed Xmas Wink) Hope you're ok.

CaptainNemo · 07/12/2011 22:41

Right. Have calmed down a bit now Xmas Blush. So. Shopping. Novmamma have you looked at Next maternity stuff? I don't generally like their normal clothes but some of the maternity stuff is ok. The massive advantage is that as long as you can bring yourself to pay for delivery (I hate paying for delivery!) you can get it all sent to your home for the next day, so no horrid changing rooms. You only pay one charge so may as well order anything you think may be vaguely possible and in a couple of sizes if you're unsure. You can get free returns in-store.
Otherwise, have found New Look mat clothes surprisingly good, have a pair of their jeans this time (plus only £16) which are def better than either of the pairs I had last time.
Have you looked at jojo maman bebe as well? Also online but free delivery (yippee) and can always find discount codes for at least 10% off if not more.
Am waiting for boden sale in the hope of picking up some bargains there...
Other than that... Will keep thinking! HTH!! Xmas Smile

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 08/12/2011 07:15

Morning all!

ffnorm - hope you're doing okay. Have a chat with your MW; I'm sure she must be able to get you a scan sooner.

Congrats to everyone that's had their scans!

Well, I got to bed a bit later than normal yesterday (11pm) as I had an evening shift volunteering - but I slept all the way through to the alarm at 6am! Wow! First time I've done that in weeks. I'm still tired, but feel a strange sense of accomplishment Grin

I've promised my boss that providing all is well at the scan tomorrow, I'll tell my colleagues and team next week - think she wants to start working with my potential maternity replacement to get them up to speed as there's a lot planned for next year, but was trying to hurry me up without putting pressure on me. Was quite funny, but there's only so many times she can ask in a pseudo relaxed tone 'have you thought any more about how you're going to tell your team' before I have to take pity on her and tell people!

Hope everyone has a good day!

10000fireflies · 08/12/2011 10:02

Morning Everyone

Congrats on all the great scans and good luck to anyone having theirs today. FFnorm - sorry to hear about your horrible time with bleeding/A&E etc. Hope everthing's ok now. Warlin - have you considered getting a bumpband? They are basically a band of fabric that you wear over the top of your trousers to hide the gap and help keep them up. Xmas Smile They're supposed to help you get through a while longer without buying maternity clothes. I had a look online at various shops and brands. Haven't decided which to get yet though. Going to try one on in JojoMaman soon and see.

Cheddar - what time is your scan tomorrow? Mine's at 9am.

Sorry not to namecheck you all properly. Have problems keeping up with all the activity on here!!

FF
xx

On my way to scan now... Aaaarhhh!

10000fireflies · 08/12/2011 10:26

Good luck JJ

ceeej · 08/12/2011 11:18

congratulations on all the scan news and best of luck for yours ecstatica and JJ

Katy yay for your blooming, could you send some blooming vibes in our direction!

sending big hugs to novmamma and ffnorm, sounds like you both had a terrible day yesterday, hope things are looking a bit brighter today. ffnorm I find it quite telling that current medical students have to be taught 'bedside manner', compassion is not a strong point of many medics, stunned they didn't scan you there and then though.

I'm normally a huge shopper but haven't been able to face the shops recently, I used a mumsnet offer to get some boden maternity clothes, their leggings are ace but the jeans were too tight on my thighs. I've mostly been living in leggings and jumper dresses so might give up on trousers completely.

The response from my supervisor was not good, she basically said she didn't think I'd finish my thesis in time (although she has yet to read a chapter I handed in two months ago) and hinted that it screwed up my career. Was raging when I got it but then went out for a lovely meal with the ILs for SIL's birthday and everyone got excited deciding what they wanted to be called when the baby came along (e.g. granny/grandma/nana) which was lovely. I've decided to just ignore it for a few days and get on with the work, ultimately there's nothing she can do to change this and I know I will get it finished. I guess one negative response out of everyone I know is not too bad.

Kveta · 08/12/2011 12:07

ceej that's so shit of your supervisor! fwiw one friend of mine got pregnant during her write up, and had her viva when her DS was 3 months old (IIRC). It did not mess up her career at all, and she is still working in the field despite having a second child since! Does your supervisor have kids?

I had my nuchal scan this morning. Or was meant to, but they'd messed up the dates (as I'd suspected) so just had a generic dating scan and am now due on June 5th, so 14+2 today. Had the triple bloods too, and was weighed, which is always depressing. I've only lost 1kg despite all the vomiting and ill health, grr. Will need to do weight watchers after this baby is born, I am repulsive at the moment :( Anyway, baby is still happy, kicking its legs around, but so calmly compared with DS! it's already so much more sedate than him, so fingers crossed for a chilled out, occasionally sleeping, model this time! Xmas Grin

went and got some maternity bras today too, and they are so comfy after my ratty old nursing bras!

sorry not to respond to everyone, just quickly - ffnorm hope you're better today, and have you considered calling PALS to complain about the Dr? she sounds appalling :(

AwayinaKayzr · 08/12/2011 12:52

ffnorm I hope you're ok. I'd be complaining and demanding a scan but that's just what I'm like.

My friend had a baby this morning!!! She didn't know she was pregnant and she rang for an ambulance as she was in loads of pain. Suspected appendicitis turned into a 4lb 6oz baby boy!!! Xmas Shock

ceeej · 08/12/2011 12:55

She doesn't have kids no and we've never known if its because she didn't want them or couldn't have them so I guess it might be a sore spot but the tone was downright rude. Good to hear of people who've done similar, I know it will be hard work but I thought society had got past the stage where deciding to start a family meant giving up on your career.

kveta I'm sure you're not repulsive,it's just an awkward phase where we look more fat than pregnant. I have been looking into post natal exercise classes as I'm rubbish at dieting, buggy fit looks fun.

ecstatica · 08/12/2011 13:05

Hello ladies,
Scan was fine, just dates and measurements, opted out of anything else so fingers crossed that all will be well. DC enjoyed the wriggling 6cm shape on the screen with lots of giggles when the sonographer said 'oh, its moved onto its tummy again'.

Kveta - Sorry the dates were messed up but at least there was a scan today. You are not 'repulsive' just the way many of us feel at this stage (wags finger and tells off) :)

Ceej - Not very tactful was she? Hmm...she seems to have issues of her own. Take it with a pinch of salt I say, there's always someone Hmm Probably doesn't have children, or they are all grown up or she has a genuine bond with you that makes her think in her own strange way, that she can get away with such comments -- you know, sort of motherly in a sense, wants you to excel and have your career which she obviously thinks is not possible with a child. I know lots of women who have done and are doing it and are all coping well, one in fact, has 5 children :)

Hope today's scans are going well. x

JjandtheBean · 08/12/2011 13:28

I'm sorry to bring the thread down, but this is the end of the road for me, there was no heartbeat at todays scan, they're classing it as a missed miscarriage. I'm not really sure what's happing or what will happen.

I wish you all happy and healthy pregnancies and babies, good luck xxx

ceeej · 08/12/2011 13:33

Oh wow Kayzr hope your friend and her baby are doing OK, must have been quite a shock

ecstatica glad you had a good scan and thanks for the thoughts, we are normally quite close as a group so it is possible she's projecting her ideas and experiences onto me, definitely just got to ignore it for now.

EmLouT · 08/12/2011 13:35

Hi. I thought it would be nice to join this thread. I am due on 4th July but the baby will be delivered two weeks earlier as it will be a C section. This will be my third (have two DS aged four and 21 months). Can't believe I am getting into this all again. I am so tired, all I can think about is the next time I get to sleep but my boys see to it that I don't get much of that.

Anyone else absolutely exhausted?

ceeej · 08/12/2011 13:40

oh JJ I'm so sorry to hear that, gutted for you :( do you have someone there to look after you?

Florin · 08/12/2011 13:49

JJ I am so so sorry to hear your news, look after yourself, is your husband with you? X
