Can I join Smile I'm due number 4 on 10th?

Miniangel · 15/01/2012 12:23

Hi Everyone

Florin thanks for recommending the dream genii pillow. I got one yesterday. Hopefully will have better nights now.

Kayzr Hope the sore throat is better.

Kveta How are you feeling now?

TDW great idea to share your birth plan as it would be a great help to a newbie like me.

Welcome Blueandredmakepurple

Ecstatita I have iron deficiency as well.Fortunately I can keep Floradix down but would look into spatone too.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 15/01/2012 12:52

Afternoon all!

Welcome Blue.

Well DH picked up the cot that we'd won on ebay yesterday. Looks fine - although it's in pieces and we don't have any instructions (we knew that though as they mention it in the ad - but how hard can it be) so it's in the dining room along with our new bed, which is still pieces in there as it has been for the last month since it was delivered!

I've bought myself a boxset of Yoga DVDs for antenatal / postnatal / yoga with your baby - am sat watching through the first one to see what it's like. Looks good. Trouble is, I'm sat here in my dressing gown watching it while I drink a mug of tea and eat a Snickers Blush. Think I actually need to do it for it to be of use Grin

Getting excited now as am off for a short holiday on Wednesday so it's only two and a half days at week this week - haven't told DH where we're going so it's a surprise (although it's actually for my birthday next Saturday yet I've arranged a surprise for him Hmm - to be fair though, he deserves it as he's been absolutely fantastic looking after me / baby the last few months).

Still watching the DVD....not sure my spine can do that Shock

Right, off to see if I can get the printer to work so I can print out holiday related stuff.

Hope everyone's having a good day!

ChateauMargot · 15/01/2012 13:32

AmethystMoon, know what you mean about looking as if we've eaten all the pies!

Are people signing up for NCT classes? So far I've registered for a hypnobirthing course, but that's it. Need to start some pregnancy yoga soon, too, but waiting until after the 20 week scan so as not to jinx anything!

The Red Cross first aid sounds like a brilliant idea.

thedogwalker · 15/01/2012 19:02

Hi all, welcome Blue, my goodness your 4 DC, I am in awe, this is my DC2 and that is going to be it. I turn 40 at the end of this year, so time is against me for having more. Welcome to the thread.
Quiet on here today, hope everyone is well. I've got my next scan a week tomorrow and I am getting soooo excited Grin, I cannot wait to see my LO again and hope that he/she is in the right position so I can see what variety I'm having.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend, take care xx

AmethystMoon · 15/01/2012 20:16

miniangel please let us know how you get on with the dreamgenii, I am struggling to sleep and would love to know how you get on with it.

Kayzr · 15/01/2012 21:31

I am feeling very pleased with myself. I have knitted a little bootie thing and it looks good and I need to knit the other one now. Grin

Florin · 16/01/2012 08:09

kayzr well done on knitting the first bootie, better get started on your 2nd otherwise your baby will have one cold foot!
Hope everyone has a good week! I have my gender scan on Wednesday, I can't wait to find out what we are having!

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 16/01/2012 09:25

Yup DC4, I think I might be slightly barmy Grin.

We have our anomoly scan on Friday and its an extra long one at the Fetal Medicine department as my DH was born with a hole in his heart so baby has to have an echocardiogram. I'm not overly worried as our other 3 have been fine so the odds are good.

We already know we are having a boy as I got a groupon deal for a gender scan for £15 (bargain!). This will be our 3rd boy, DD (our first DC) was rather disappointed at no sister but I reckon she'll appreciate her brothers when she's older!

mrsshears · 16/01/2012 11:05

Hi everyone, hope you are all well
We have our 20 week scan tomorrow,we are really looking forward to it,dd2 is coming along too.I'm getting lots of movement at the minute which is lovely, only i can feel it though and my girls cant wait until they can too.
We are leaning towards finding out but if we do we are keeping it between me and dh,so it will be our little secret until dc3 is born Grin

Warlin · 16/01/2012 11:51

Morning all

welcome blue...number 4...hats off to you!

Called with my friend on Sat to see her newborn girl (17 days overdue)! She is so gorgeous and she had a 3 hour labour from start to finish..she went in and they sent her home, she was having regular contractions so she went back and they said it was coming! No time for pain control, no tearing or cutting and she feels fab now, only 3 days later! Clinging to hope that's what mine will be like (minus the sent home bit!), though for my first I really doubt it!

Going to give the Dream geni a go too as not sleeping well either.

Good luck to all those with scans this week! Very jealous! Although I'd one last week, we have to wait until the 30th for ours and I'm dying to see LO again!

We have one boy and one girl so far on the thread so need to get those stats up! mrs shears you can tell us..we don't count!

Roll on June...I can't wait to finish work and get on with all things baby! Think I've got blackk Monday!

Warlin · 16/01/2012 12:56

Right, just ordered the Dream Geni pillow...£41 on Amazon....quite dear so I'm hoping it's worth it!

millyv · 16/01/2012 12:57

Afternoon everyone!
Just a quick message from me, had a fabulous weekend cwtching my God daughter to be - I was asked on the weekend so it was lovely! Was fab having a baby in the house and seeing how the step sons reacted to her. All went well!
Went to the dentist this morning, which was free now we are pregnant! Onlt had a check up and clean up (my mum is so proud I have nearly made it to 30 without a filling!) but made me gag quite a but although the dentist was lovely about it.
After such a lovely but action packed weekend I'm hoping the rest of the day goes quickly so that I can get home to bed!
Xx

Dalrymps · 16/01/2012 13:24

Afternoon ladiesSmile

Welcome and congratulations blueGrin Number 4 wow! I think 4 is a lovely number but personally don't have the space or patience for any more do am stopping at 3Smile

Kayzr Ooh knitting! I used to be able to but have completely forgotten how so will leave it to my milGrin

Just chilling with dh here whilst ds1 is at nursery and ds2 sleepsSmile Soo excited about the scan on wed. If we don't find out the sex I might just explode with anticipation! Hope baby is in a good position. Of course what really matters is that all is ok with baby..

Anyone watch Call the Midwife last night? I can't wait for the next episode. Have started reading the book and am hoping to have finished it before next sun.

SpecialJK · 16/01/2012 13:36

Hi all. loved catching up on all the news from the weekend. seriouslystrong loved your DVD watching... you got round to trying them yet? Smile

No real news, apart from my boss said "you get bigger every week" this morning, erm, thanks, I think? But I'm still managing to get away without a pillow. would be good to hear what people think of the dream genii, whether it's worth the money?

DH read a book to bump last night in bed, Peepo. Then he had a wee chat with it afterwards. it maybe was about the cutest thing I've ever seen Grin

Kveta · 16/01/2012 13:48

Dalrymps I saw Call the Midwife, thought it was really good. not graphic enough to make me ill either, which is good! (I just cannot watch OBEM, ever, as even the trailers make me feel queasy!)

Special :o at your DH reading peepo to your bump! my DH won't even pretend to engage with bump yet, but he was the same with DS - once she starts kicking and he can feel her, it may be different! My bump is odd shaped due to the way baby is lying, so I know where her head is, we can feel it very clearly! DH did pat her on the head in a fatherly manner last night, I suppose.

btw, does anyone else get braxton hicks after, ahem, pleasurable activities? (I mean sex, not eating chocolate, btw!). every time, I get really strong BHs for a few minutes, it's bizarre! Def don't recall that ever happening with DS.

I need to submit my mat leave plans this week, so need to actually make some. Luckily my work are so lovely, I could say just about anything and they'd agree with it. As it is, I think I'll take 6 months off again, and then come back 4 rather than 5 days, on shorter hours (so 9-4 or so). Not sure when to take off though.

Oh, and FIL was whining at the weekend that he doesn't want to come over anymore, and doesn't want to be an au pair. Au pair FFS, we are asking him to come when I'm near my due date, so that, JUST IN CASE I go into labour whilst he's here, he could mind DS for a few hours. Aside from that, DH is going to show him around whilst I rest, so it's hardly being an au pair. He is lucky I don't speak his language well, or I'd have had some choice words to say to him... DH said some of them actually!

thedogwalker · 16/01/2012 14:01

Hi all, had a tiring night, not slept well and DS still very poorly, so he was waking lots during the night. He was still ill this morning and very clingy, so I rang work and got the day off. I do have a dream genii somewhere so I will have to hunt for it and get it back out, I did find it useful in 1st pg.

Week today to my next scan, counting down the days, as I can read most of us are, how impatient are we all becoming Smile. Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Kayzr · 16/01/2012 14:09

Dalrymps It is the first the I have ever finished. I have loads of bits of knitting about.

I have just re booked our wedding for the 5th April!! Grin Its mad but we are only having a very little ceremony and then next year will have our vows blessed or something to have the big reception we had orginally planned.

Warlin · 16/01/2012 16:15

kayzr that's great news! Will give you something to look forward to and break up the 40 weeks that seem to go on forever!!!!

dogwalker hope your son gets well soon. I agree we are all impatient, really want the next 4 months to just hurry up! :)

kveta you're lucky! I wish I could feel the baby's head...I can still only feel flutterings at night and first thing...really want a big kick but no doubt when those come I'll be complaining too...no pleasing me really :) FIL sounds like a nightmare...how rude! Maybe not having him there will be less stressful, esp if he doesn't want to help.

I'm hoping to take 9 months off (depending on how the finances hold out!) but will have to go back 5 days :( :( think I'll try and negotiate a day from home though as having no commute and not having to get dressed will make it easier...ideally on a Monday! Not sure how that will go down though!

Monday nearly over....yipppeee

Good luck to all those with scans coming up.

emblosion · 16/01/2012 16:19

Popping in briefly to say hurray kayzr about wedding being rebooked, you'll get to wear your lovely dress :)
Am also v impressed by your knitting success...

I too am sleep deprived, just can't get comfy although I feel exhausted, might have to look into a dream genii...

Me and DP went to have a browse at prams on Saturday and ended up getting a nearly-new icandy apple from a little shop near us that sells gently used kids stuff, wasn't planning to buy so early but we thought it was to good a deal to pass up!

ChateauMargot we've booked nct classes (not til end April tho) got a really good discount as I am a student, am looking into hypnobirthing too but might get a cd/book just as I don't think there's anything local.

Welcome blue and hope everyone else is doing ok!

thedogwalker · 16/01/2012 16:51

Kayzr that is wonderful news, I am so happy for you and DP. Hope you have a fabulous day and lead up to it, enjoy being the Bride to be.
Warlin my DS used to give me hoofing big kicks most of the night every night for the 3rd trimester, so you may eat your words, flutterings are just fine, believe me at this stage Smile
Emblosion I have the icandy peach from my DS which I am going to convert into a double, it's the reason I bought it really, as I always planned to have them close together, good job lady luck was on our side when ttc Smile.
I'm going to take 9 months off work on maternity, my job has quite a good maternity package, full pay for 6 months and then drops to SMP for the next 3, so I cannot complain. But I will have to go back to 5 day weeks, there is no room for manouvre there.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

ChateauMargot · 16/01/2012 17:28

millyv I was disproportionately excited about the free dental treatment! Almost feel that I should be going for a clean every month while I can ;)

emblosion Am also a student, on an AHRC grant - fortunately I think they'll cover me for 6 months maternity, which is a godsend.

Must get organised with NCT, by the sounds of it...

TeaandHobnobs · 16/01/2012 18:33

TDW 6 months full pay, you lucky thing!

I realised our parentcraft classes start at the end of March, feels like time is moving on! I was excited last week to tell people at work, and some friends, and actually have a bit of a bump, but time has gone back to standing still again (I am an incredibly impatient person Grin)

emblosion my friend gave me her hypnobirthing cd and book - I would like to give it a go, although maybe not a course (£300 round my way), but I will need to find myself in a very open frame of mind when I start, as just skimming the opening of the book left me a bit Hmm (not that I don't think it is a good thing, just my overthinking head may get in the way!)

Still looking for a chance to get to mothercare for a dreamgenii pillow, but so far am managing ok with a normal pillow between my knees. DH and I swapped sides last night, which made it much easier to sleep on my left. Quality of sleep has definitely deteriorated though - not helped by the cat having a mad half hour at 3am!

millyv dentist appointment also on my to-do list! Am in two minds as to whether I should sign up somewhere new to get free NHS treatment, or stick with my current dentist (who I love) but will have to pay as they don't do NHS work AFAIK.

Right, time to think of something to make for dinner...

thedogwalker · 16/01/2012 19:52

TeaandHobnobs I did the natal hypnotherapy with DS in August 2010 and I am planning to do it again this time. I did a one day, one on one course with a threapist, who went through everything with DH and me. Dh was very sceptical didn't believe at all. I also bought the CDs to listen to and found them very relaxing. My labour lasted 8 hours from first twinge to finally pushing DS out. DS had his arm above his head causing me to tear quite badly and I had to have over 20 stitches, but I listened to the CD the whole way through, went to my 'happy place' and I didn't have any pain relief whatsoever, not even when they had to cut me in the end to get him out. I was fully aware of everything going on and I believe it kept my mind focused, so that I could make good and clear decisions when I needed to make them, plus I was fully awake etc. DH then believed that the CDs worked, when he realised how much I tore and how much blood I lost and yet I didn't require pain relief. I'm not saying it will work for everyone, but I found it a great experience and I hope to repeat it (without the tearing) this time . I wish everyone luck on deciding what they want to do during labour/birthplan.

TeaandHobnobs · 16/01/2012 20:29

TDW that sounds fantastic - thanks for sharing your view.

I do really want to make it work, as I am anticipating a low pain threshold (I am a complete wuss) but would love to avoid drugs for pain relief as much as possible. In fact, I would like a home birth I think, but for the fear of limited options for pain relief, so hypnobirthing seems like a very good idea indeed if I want to try and make that happen. Will see if there are any one-on-one courses on offer round here, or if my midwives have any suggestions.
