New thread with updated stats, before the old one grinds to a halt at 1000 and we loose people! Plus its running so slow it barely loads for me :)

BlueandRed - Hello Smile This will be my fourth child too. I have 3 DSs.
TDW - You are one brave woman. My 'happy place' would only be visited on vast amounts of gas and air!!!! Well done.
Kayzr - That is great news! Sending you some Thanks
Kveta - Maybe FIL is getting cold feet over light 'responsibility'! I'd make sure he books his ticket and leave any worrying to DH :)
Hello to Warlin, Emblosion, SJk and everyone else. Was a quick check-in.

I see nothing of Green Goose or Starlight (I know she had a tribunal this month, hope all is going ok if you're out there!)

Time to get the little one up to bed. They napped for 2 hours this afternoon -- bliss.

ecstatica · 16/01/2012 20:36

Hello HobNobs :) All sounds good!

Dalrymps · 16/01/2012 20:39

I haven't done a course but I have listened to the natal hypnotherapy CDs with my last two pregnancies and will again this timeSmile I won't say I didn't feel any pain cause I did but the techniques and visualisations helped me to focus and to deal with the pain. I used gas and air and had short labours both times. 1st labour was back to back and I tore badly, 2nd labour normal presentation and slight tear.

1st labour about 5 hours, 2nd labour was a bit stop start but was about 2 1/2 hours from the start of regular contractions. I was induced both times.

I did ask for pethedine with 1st labour but it was too late (already 7cm). I asked for epidural with 2nd labour but again was too late (also 7cm). I think when I get to that point I think I can take no more but it doesn't actually get any worse from then iyswimGrin

Dalrymps · 16/01/2012 20:44

Forgot to say, brilliant news!Grin

Dalrymps · 16/01/2012 20:44

Duh! Brilliant news kayzr!

emblosion · 16/01/2012 20:54

TDW ouch, but great that the techniques worked!

hobnobs I'm a wuss too, and tend to get anxious ..... I won't be saying no to pain relief, but I kind of thought anything that might help me to stay calm and relaxed might be worth a try, DP is V sceptical but I think its cos he is thinking of the "you are feeling verrryyy sleeeepy" school of hypnotism, ha ha!

Margot I'm a student nurse, am v lucky in that I get a maternity bursary and i'll be taking a year out before going back to finish my third year... Am having to start my leave early (at 25 weeks) due to the way my course is organised. Uni have been v supportive over all though.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 17/01/2012 07:01

Morning all!

Not much going on with me at the moment - realised on Sunday I'd screwed up some of the stuff for the holiday (booked the airport hotel for the wrong night for starters!) so am frantically trying to sort that out yesterday / today! Had to tell DH where we were going and ask for his help to sort some of the other stuff out as I dissolved into a sobbing wreck when I realised what I'd done Grin. Still, all will be well in the end I'm sure.

Notice a few people are talking about hypnobirthing etc - although I've got no experience of specific hypnobirthing / natal hypnotherapy styles, I did qualify as a hypnotherapist a couple of years ago so if anyone has any questions about hypnotherapy in general I'm more than happy to answer them.

Right, best get ready for work as it looks like the car will need scraping this morning!

Have a good day folks!

KatyJ26 · 17/01/2012 07:08

Hi everyone... Have been reading but not posting much lately-sorry! I really rate NCT and felt much more informed afterwards. To all those with hypnobirthing CDs and books- what are they called? Is one better than the other? I think I may give it a go- can't wait to see my dhs face when I tell him!!!! Am also seriously considering a home birth- but I don't particularly like my mw and that is what is putting me off Sad ah well, have a good day and I'll endeavour to post mire regularly Blush

KatyJ26 · 17/01/2012 07:24

more stupid phone!

itchyfootedlady · 17/01/2012 08:46

Every time I call by here there are 100's of new posts to catch up on!

To all those dream Genie curious, I picked on up on Saturday as cramping/ stabbing fanjo pain is worse late at night and its good. Completely immobilised me so no chance of rolling over and tweaking stuff. It's a bit hard to go pee in the night though.

Called midwife about the stabbing pain. She said "does it feel like someone is shoving a knife up your vagina?" I said yes... she says "that's normal".... normal?! How is that normal!

milky and chateau also v excited about dental! Last visit he cocked up and gave me amalgam filling when I paid for white and left me unable to open my mouth fully for a month. It's pay back time!

kayzr congrats on the wedding and knitting. I'm busy crocheting stuff as can't knit for shit... am always impressed by people who can though.

kveta I'm most jealous of the kicks. I keep thinking I feel something, then fart, so think its still just wind :(

Hope all those who are sleeping badly feel better soon. I discussed maternity with my boss last week as need to start handover. He thought I was leaving in 6 months... I had a chat with him about human gestation periods and helped him count it on his fingers. He looked scared then.

Love the idea of hypnobirth but am horribly practical about stuff. I blame 12 years of engineering with men. Even my prenatal yoga was a bit new age and although I loved it I was slightly embarrassed when we had to make noises on all fours. I am looking forward to maternity leave as a chance to meet some new people and re embrace a less scientific me! Any book recommendations and i'll give them a go. Worried I'd giggle in an actual class from nerves!

Off to London for work again today. Traveling is killing me! Plus Dh is speaking at some conference in Amsterdam so on my own. Not as hard as most of you guys but a bit lonely at night.

Have a good Tuesday folks!

itchyfootedlady · 17/01/2012 08:49

Oh and welcome new folks. Enjoying your posts!

Dalrymps · 17/01/2012 09:34

Morning ladiesSmile

For those who are asking about hypnotherapy CDs, I use these ones natal hypnotherapy

They don't prompt you to make any strange noises.. Just talk you through relaxing/ breathing techniques and visualisations. I usually just listen to them through headphonesSmile

Dalrymps · 17/01/2012 09:36

Also meant to say. I put mine on to iTunes then loaded them on to my shuffle for listening to and for use in labour. I have the shuffle you can clip on to your clothing so that was useful to keep it out of the way.

Dalrymps · 17/01/2012 09:38

itchy sorry about the stabbing pain in your fanjoSad Hope it is short lived and naffs off soon.

NinjaChipmunk · 17/01/2012 09:56

Hello june peoples! I hope you don't mind me popping over from the No Brooking thread but I would like to ask a question to those due in the last half of June - are there many of you still not feeling any movement? I'm 17 weeks and somedays I think I can and then it just disappears for days at a time and is very disconcerting as apart from a bump I don't feel pg (even though this is my 2nd). I thought this might be the most logical place to ask! Any replies greatly appreciated!

SpecialJK · 17/01/2012 10:35

Hi Ninja due on the 23rd June and I've felt nothing in particular yet. I was told that it would be around 19 weeks? So I'm not worrying. I also read that even if you do feel movement, you're unlikely to feel it every day as the baby is still small. 22 weeks is the time that the midwifes start asking you to monitor I think? I think it varies, some people are feeling something and some aren't. might also be where your placenta etc are lying?

Kveta · 17/01/2012 10:49

Ninja I'm 20 weeks today (with DC2) and still feeling the odd movement followed by nothing the rest of the day. I was the same with DS, until about 21/22 weeks when suddenly he seemed to be kicking me all the time! It is such a disconcerting time, this! Then suddenly you start to feel like you're being beaten up from the inside out and it all becomes real again!

a couple of midwifes I have spoken to say it's normal to worry more with DC2, and especially if you've had any pg loss between 1 and 2, so I'm putting that down as my reason for the perpetual worry :o it's almost as if your brain is saying 'I can't be this lucky again'

having written all that, baby just gave me a kick, so she's clearly awake today Confused

Warlin · 17/01/2012 12:24

Hi All

Welcome Ninja...

I am 18+4 and still only fluttering type movement when I'm relaxing. I really want to start feeling kicks as other than the bump (and heartburn), I don't feel like there's anything in there.

SSC hope you get your hold sorted..very jealous.

I wish I was able to leave work sooner but I get no mat pay so need to work as far up as possible...not looking forward to that.

Is anyone else just getting really impatient...I want it to be June..now!!!

WhyAlwaysBoris · 17/01/2012 12:32

Hi everyone, sorry i've not posted in a month, I have been reading the thread but have felt so ill all the time i've not got round to posting myself.....

Anyway, sorry to bring things down but i'm bowing out as i had my 20 week scan yesterday and they said that the baby died some weeks ago, which is probably why i have been so poorly.

I am heartbroken and would appreciate your prayers on thursday and friday as i have to go through labour and deliver the baby.

I have been so chuffed to keep you company up till now and will be thinking of you all as you continue. xx

Kveta · 17/01/2012 12:38
