New thread with updated stats, before the old one grinds to a halt at 1000 and we loose people! Plus its running so slow it barely loads for me :)

Just amending my DD as got bought forward a few days although knowing me I'll still be late! New ladies do you want to copy and paste this list and add yourselves in? The one in the OP is a bit out of date.

10000fireflies · 09/01/2012 23:24

Evening everyone Wow! How busy is it in here??!! I can?t keep up! I was part way through drafting another marathon post but I admit defeat tonight. Too tired and a bit headachy. Welcome to all our newbies. Elly - thanks for sorting out list. Was about to do the same.
Someone was asking when we need a new thread. We should be good for another 10-15 days with this one as we still have about 300 posts to go though. Does anyone want to monitor the posts and set up a new one when we get to the 250 mark?
Hope you all have a restful evening and feel refreshed and glowing tomorrow.

Hello everyone, I can't believe it's taken me this long to find this thread. I've been lurking on the antenatal tests/choices board as I have a high risk of T21 after my combined test and have been unable to think about anything else since finding this out on 21 December. After much deliberation I had an amnio today. Am resting as terrified of miscarriage and now just praying for good news by the end of the week. Am due 23 June and it's my long hoped for first. Been reassuring to read I am experiencing some of the same things as others on here - I'm a fully paid up member of the headache club. Paracetamol works for me most of the time, but it's horrid when it doesn't Sad.

DP has just gone Sad I'm resisting the urge to wake up one of the boys so I have someone to cuddle.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 10/01/2012 06:51

Morning all!

Amethyst - sorry to hear you've got an anxious wait on your hands. Hope the results come through quick and put your mind at rest.

Kayzr - hope the boys are up soon to give you a cuddle. Hope time flies for you until DP is back.

So, had my 16 week appt yesterday, although am now 17 weeks! Blood pressure fine, thank goodness and she didn't ask to weigh me - woohoo! Baby was most cooperative and hearbeat was audible straight away so all good. Pretty much in and out in 5 mins. DH came along - think he felt he should be there for the heartbeat bit - and I think he found it a bit of an anti climax to be honest Grin

Won a grobag on ebay last night so the accumulation of cheap stuff begins in earnest!

I'll copy and paste the list again as I seem to have moved back to my old due date! Will put it below.

Have a good day folks.

Just a flying visit.

Re pain relief for headaches etc. you CAN take codeine. I quizzed my consultant when he wanted to prescribe it. He would not perscribe past 37 weeks as the baby stores it longer than our bodies and could result in breathing difficulties at delivery due to them being drowsy, but at our gestation its absolutely fine. That said, thankfully I've only had one migraine since so only taken one pill.

I've got an accupuncture session tomorrow. I had it with my last pregnancy and cannot recommend highly enough, but thought having it now might help with the head aches!

Wishing you all a nice day, shall do a proper catch up with everyone's new later!

Helssjbells · 10/01/2012 10:10

Morning all,

Hope you're all well. Amethyst - fingers (and labrador paws) are crossed for good news soon.

I wasn't very well at all yesterday, I called the maternity unit and had to go in last night. Thankfully all is ok. They didn't scan me, but they examined me and listened to a thumping heartbeat from the baby! We had to go to the labour ward, sitting in a waiting room while listening to women screaming - I think DH had his eyes opened!

Foot is much better, I still can't walk properly or get a shoe on but at least I can sleep. Apparently gout is quite unusual in pregnancy (why me?!!) but I definitely recommend that all us ladies just drink plain water - if you can.

Right, I'm just adding myself to the list..

Helssbells - sorry you had a rough night. Your gout sounds so painful. Glad you can actually sleep, know how hard the sleep deprivation is from last weeks headaches! Hope the rest starts to get a better soon too!

Any scans in the next few days?

Miniangel · 10/01/2012 11:58

Thanks for the lovely flowers TDW and Warlin

Ecstatica I think I will start working from home next week and see how that goes. Travelling into the city takes it out of me so will have to stick to to the home option. Hope you sleep better and the pain gets better.

KatyJ26 Great scan news. Congrats.

SSC I am Envy that you heard the heartbeat staright away. My little wriggler wasn't co-operating at all. Happy for you. It would be great for you guys to watch the 20 week scan dvd on your big telly.

Welcome shellywellybaby1 , Rachy1983 and AmethystMoon

AmethystMoon Hope time flies for you and brings you good news.

Kayzr A big hug coming your way. Hope time flies till DP's return.

Helssbells Sorry to hear about your painful ordeal. Hope you feel better soon.

A big wave to everybody I have missed.

I have my maternal medicine appoitment tomorrow so I guess it will involve more peeing in bottles for checking urinary infection. This pg has seriously made me use a lot of bottles to pee. :)

Kveta · 10/01/2012 12:03

rrray - I have anomaly scan on friday. will update the stats list after it, hopefully with gender too.

my morning sickness seems to be returning, am gipping at everything and nothing, gah.

oh, and I keep waking up on my front, so must be sleeping like that - am hoping it doesn't harm baby at all, but it makes me feel so guilty each time! why can't I sleep on my side like a normal person?!

kazyr hope today is ok, and the next few weeks fly by. thinking of you.

Kayzr · 10/01/2012 12:23

I have a scan Thursday rrray

DS2 has decided to be the biggest, most annoying 3 year old he possibly can today. He is driving me barmy and I am trying to persuade him that he needs a nap.

DP was flying over the Ukraine last time we checked Grin He is due home just before DS1s birthday so I am hoping that it will fly by as we will be looking forward and planning a birthday.

Hope everyone is ok

millyv · 10/01/2012 14:12

Gosh, so much has happened since I posted last - it's been a very busy 24 hours!

kveta I keep worrying about how I'm sleeping - I read we shouldn't sleep on our backs or right hand side - this is very awkward as they are the tw positions I do sleep in! I have been trying to train my body for a few weeks into sleeping on my left by propping pillows behind my back and seems to be working ok - but I will admit to sometimes turning over onto my right in the night! I have been trying to make sure I go back to sleep on my left after the many wee stops in the night!

kayzr hope you are ok and the time flies by for you!

Miniangel* pleased that the move went well, I hate moving house - hopefully we will not be moving again as we moved to 'the house we won't need to upgrade again' house last time... fingers crossed!

seriouslystrong I am thinking of heading to the midwife appointment on my own tomorrow, if all I'm doing is having blood pressure and wee checked I doubt very much DH will be ineterested!

helssjbells I hope your foot is getting better, sounds terrible - I think there should be some kind of biological rule that when pregnant your body should not be allowed to get ill!

Welcome to all of the new laides - congratulations on your pregnancies!

Sorry it's a long post but am on the computer and had 5 mins spare so thought I would try and right more than the usual few lines! Sorry if I have missed anyone out!

I'm not sure who asked me the question of did people say we were pregnant quickly after the wedding? The answer is not really as we were trying for 6 months before we caught with this little one and I'm quite open so our very close family and friends all knew we were trying!

We had the discussion the other everning about whether or not to find out the sex of the baby, I really don't mind what we have but I am very impatient and keep swaying from no it would be a nice surprise to no chance next scan we're finding out! Does everyone find out these days?

I'm feeling ok, been drinking lots of water since hellsjbells told us about the gout issue, I'm not actually going to the loo that much in the day now, I am very impressed with myself - saying this will probably mean that I am up 5 times tonight now though!

Hope everyoe is having a good day!

Xx

Florin · 10/01/2012 14:25

To anybody having problems sleeping on their sides can highly recommend the dream genii pregnancy pillow. I got one for Christmas as I was so uncomfortable sleeping on my tummy. It keeps you on your left hand side and is so snugly it's my new best friend!

Jubble · 10/01/2012 16:16

Hi all,

Sorry, I seem to be rather lazy at posting in here Blush

So far my pregnancy is going okay - the nausea has largely gone and I need to dig out all the maternity clothes I had from before as my waist line?s starting to disappear!

We haven?t found out the sex of the baby yet, but I?ve got another check up on Thursday so we?ll see then.

I hope everyone else is doing okay and I?ll be a bit more attentive in here!

Kveta · 10/01/2012 19:49

just want to have a quick Grin post after amazingly wonderful consultant appt today!!

so I had this appt today and wasn't sure why - thought it was because of my weight, but it turned out to be due to family history of diabetes and previous enormous baby (over 4kg is considered huge for 1st baby, I didn't know!). Consultant was lovely, took me through DS's birth (told me why forceps had been used, and apparently it was just because I'd been pushing for too long, and there was no odd positioning or anything - she said it's pretty standard in large babies/long exhausting labours). and I had to ask about pain relief, because I am absolutely shit scared of not getting an epidural if I want one this time - she said I was low risk, so could go to the midwife led unit, but could only have G+A or pethidine there. I must have looked a bit pensive at this point, so she then said 'but you can always request to go direct to the delivery unit, and if you want an epidural, you can ask for an early one at 4 cm, and put it in a birth plan if you'd like'. I was :o :o :o at that!

i know it probably sounds like the most ridiculous thing in the world to get excited by, but I was so worried about another long labour, and not knowing if I could get adequate pain relief. And she was so unjudgy, and said 'some women want a second c-section, there's nothing wrong with wanting a second epidural, is there?' or words to that effect. plus according to her assessment of my notes, and me, she reckons I'll have a good chance of a normal delivery this time.

so anyway, I am so bloody relieved about all this, you can't imagine, it's like a massive weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

And DS was reasonably well behaved at the appt as I handed him a bumper sized bag of chocolate buttons and left him to it - had to tell the consultant that I don't ALWAYS give him vast quantities of chocolate of an afternoon :o

sorry to be so dull, but am SO RELIEVED and bubbling over with happiness about it all (for today at least :o)

Florin · 10/01/2012 20:07

kveta congratulations on your appointment-fab news!

TeaandHobnobs · 10/01/2012 20:29

Quick catch up, as I've been lurking for a while...

Excellent news Kveta glad the appointment has left you feeling so positive!

Thank you for the pillow recommendation Florin, I think I may have to get one of those - last night was the first night I made myself not sleep on my back, and it was tough going!

Kayzr hope baby is more cooperative on Thursday and time passes quickly until DP's return

Welcome shellywelly, Rachy and rhibutterfly!

Sending you positive thoughts Amethyst, hope you feel a bit more reassured soon

Poor Helss with the gout Sad

And congrats on the move miniangel

Sorry if I've missed anyone there Confused

Just had my first pregnancy yoga class - in fact first ever yoga class - wow! Ok I'm not very good at it, as I'm a bit weak, but it felt great. I think it will be great for relaxation as I am a bad one for holding tension in my body. I feel miles better already Grin

Midwife appointment tomorrow and looking forward to 20wk scan at the beginning of Feb. Have started to tell more people now, including my boss yesterday and my line manager today. Feel like I can stop trying to hold my belly in now Grin

Right, I am going to try and complete this report now and not spend all evening on MN as usual

Morning ladiesSmile

Great news on your positive appointment kveta must be a big weight off your mind!

I'm 19 weeks todaySmilealmost half way! I really am wishing this pregnancy away, being my third I've had enough of pregnancy to last me a lifetime! Having said that I do realise how incredibly lucky I am to even be in this position.

I've been suffering with shooting pain on my hip and leg. Phoned the midwife and she said it sounds like sciatica. She also said there's nothing I can do about it and it's too early to refer me to the physio (why?!) anyway, if it's worse by my 28wk app then they'll refer me to physio and I'll be shown some exercises I can do. It seems strange to me to wait for it to get worse before trying to do anything about itHmmConfused

Looking forward to next week as my dh is on holiday so a little bit more relaxing with two pairs of hands to watch the boysSmile

Hi there everyone. I am a bit of a newbie (i posted once ages ago) and am 16 wks with my first, due either 22 or 27 June, depending on whether you take the scan (22) or my dates (27th).

I have been having quite a lot of achey low abdomen pain in the pelvic region. I was wondering whether anyone else is having / has had this? It's not crampy and I am hoping it's just because there is a lot going on in there. But I am a bit paranoid after a previous mc in August.

All was fine at my 12 wk scan but the 20 wk one it not for a month and it feels a long time away!

x

Hello all and welcome to all the new ladies!

Helss the gout sounds awful, I have been desperately trying to get my 2L per day since reading your post. A wholeheartedly agree with whoever said that being ill in pregnancy should just not be allowed! Hope you feel better soon.

I've been looking for a yoga class but all the specific pregnancy yoga classes are miles away (I live in Downpatrick in NI) so I might have to go to an ordinary class, or get a DVD.... I want to start swimming too, has anyone seen any nice maternity swimwear around?

I'm also starting to look for a nice dress to wear to my wedding in April, not having much luck so far, so if anyone sees anything on their travels let me know! :)

Have started a new placement this week with community nurses, enjoying it so far but goodness me am tired!

Sending good vibes to everyone with scans and appointments this week.
