millyv you shouldn't have made that promise to your dh Wink
I was wearing Sloggys last time and I will be again!who else is joining Sloggys club??Grin

hiya,
re: prams, I'm tempted by the out n about nipper double - DS will be 2.8 when DC2 arrives, but is very silly, so I want to be able to contain him when we're out! It looks like I can get it fairly cheaply 2nd hand too, which would be grea.

Warlin DS is 2.3 now, and I am still wondering why I am still bfing him, but also quite chuffed that I have managed so long - we had an exhausting start to it!!

re: NCT, I loved our classes - I didn't learn much tbh, but made a wonderful friend from it. DH found it very useful though, as he didn't do much reading in my pregnancy, and he learnt a lot! we were very lucky though, as our teacher was very sensible, and talked about all possible birthing methods - a pal of ours went to a different teacher who told them that 'you haven't earned the baby if you use pain relief' which is obviously bollocks! so see if you can speak to people who did NCT classes near you and find out how sane the instructors are locally! Oh, and the bfing class we had was utterly useless, as they refused to discuss any potential problems. I learnt much more from mumsnet and a fab book called the food of love (by Kate Evans, I think?) which I recommend to anyone who is thinking of bfing. very common sense and humorously written.

I'm planning to work as close to 40 weeks as possible! probably finishing at 39 weeks though, as 40 weeks falls on a bank holiday, and my CM is away on the previous thurs and fri anyway!

Kazyr hope everything is ok on thursday.

ffnorm · 03/01/2012 19:55

Just had to google Sloggi Blush they not that awful, depends on which ones you referring to...

Starting Mat leave is very dependant on what you do (activity level) How far you commute and how well the pregnancy goes. I have a very physical job, with DS I technically went on mat leave at 39 weeks but took 4 weeks annual leave before,so stopped work at 35 weeks and was very grateful to be home, even though I'd had a pretty good pregnancy...

Seeing the consultant tomorrow, will see how it all goes.

Florin · 03/01/2012 21:59

I signed up with NCT classes when I was 10 weeks as at that point there were only a couple of spaces left. To be honest I am going to them to meet people rather than learning although think dh might learn a bit!

Kayzr · 04/01/2012 08:11

Morning.

Feeling a bit brighter today. I made myself busy yesterday by going to ikea. I love ikeaGrin then we went to do a big asda shop and to toys r us.

Warlin we saw someone with a double bugaboo and it looked really good. It had a pram carrycot type thing and a seat for an older child. Very nice.

Kayzr · 04/01/2012 11:47

I gave in and rang MW. She told me to go straight into the maternity ward so of we went. After 10 minutes of trying she found the heartbeat Grin I am so relieved about it now.

10000fireflies · 04/01/2012 12:18

Kayzr - great news!! So good to hear your update.

Dalrymps · 04/01/2012 13:34

Great news Kayzr!Grin So pleased for you!!!

millyv · 04/01/2012 14:00

Kayzr I'm so happy for you! :):):):):):):)

HorseyGirl1 · 04/01/2012 16:26

Fantastic! xx

ceeej · 04/01/2012 18:00

Kayzr that's a relief to hear, I hope you can relax a bit now

We've booked onto NCT classes, like Florin not expecting to learn that much but looking forward to meeting other local pregnant ladies and hoping DH will learn a few things. I've also found a pregnancy yoga class which starts in Feb so think I will sign up to that.

I wasn't keen on trawling all over London looking at baby kit so we've booked ourselves a VIB appointment at Kiddicare at the end of Feb to look at Prams/Baby Seats/Cots etc. I found a nice hotel in Rutland to combine it with a weekend away, looking forward to it already :)

ecstatica · 04/01/2012 18:42

:) :) For Kayzr :):)

Hope all is well folks. I missed my m/w appt but have rescheduled for next week so will hopefully have my slot then.

Are GreenGoose and Fireflies and Starlight all still around ladies?
And the poster beginning with M who was as sick as me....eugh, can't think of name!
Really hope you're all well.

10000fireflies · 04/01/2012 19:53

Hi ecstatica Here I am! I have 16 week MW appt tomorrow, but don't know what we will talk about as already had it at 14 weeks as they made a clerical error. Hope it's the fun one I'm seeing. She likes my jokes!!

E, do you mean MiniAngel? She was v sicky poorly what with one thing and another. How are you doing now?

SpecialJK · 04/01/2012 20:41

Hi all! New to mumsnet and new to this thread! Smile

I'm getting superstitious about joining anything in case it goes wrong! First timer pregnant, due 25th June. All a bit of a surprise really. thankfully so far been relatively uneventful. Scan in December was good, baby measuring 94 percentile on the size scale, so I'm hoping that slows down Shock

Got 16 weeks midwife appointment next week. Feeling so good that I'm hoping everything is still growing down there as it should

Hope everyone is having a good day with no aches, pains or sickness x

Kayzr · 04/01/2012 20:46

Is anyone watching One Born Every Minute at 9 on channel 4?

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/01/2012 20:49

Yes. There's a thread already started in telly addicts where we all shout!

Kveta I'm sorry if this sounds rude but wtf is wrong with your mother? Telling you you're going to be an ugly bride the night before you're wedding? Is she demented?

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/01/2012 20:50

Hi special

ellybett · 04/01/2012 20:53

Hi all. Hope the glowing is starting for a few of us now, alas not for me. After a lovely food filled Christmas the morning sickness is back with a vengeance this week. Really pleased for you kayzr, minimal stress is def what is in order these days.
Have my 16 week appointment with mw on Monday so am hopeful for a heartbeat as (despite the delights of my mornings by the toilet bowl) I'm feeling weirdly non pregnant again, have definitely been more paranoid this time around.
Just quickly, about taking mat leave, I'm not sure if this is true but I heard something about how you're not insured to drive in the last few weeks of pregnancy in case of labour. Just writing it down sounds daft but I wondered if anyone else had heard of anything like that. I'm hoping to work until at least 38 weeks as my mat pay will be a bit poo having worked part time since going back after DD. I went at 36 weeks last time and was a week overdue, let's just say boredom very quickly set in as I didn't exactly do much nesting!
Welcome aboard the June bus brighton and special. Not long to go!

ellybett · 04/01/2012 20:55

Ooh, and One Born Every Minute is on in 5 minutes. Any takers??!!

Kayzr · 04/01/2012 20:56

Hello Special welcome to the June thread.

I am so tired. I think there should be a yawn smiley but I guess it would look like this Shock so no good.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/01/2012 21:14

Yes Ell, come and shout with us on other thread.

ffnorm · 05/01/2012 06:52

Morning all, doing the crack of dawn routine with DS...

Brilliant news Kazyr, you must be feeling so relieved!

I had my 16 week app yesterday with the consultant (because I have under active thyroid from my 1st pg) which was nice as he was happy to discuss some of my reservations about the hospital etc.He also wants to do an additional scan at 36 weeks to check baby's growth (due to potential growth issues with thyroid problems) but also to look at my placenta as I had retained placenta last time. So was feeling pretty happy but then was a bit Hmm afterwards as he didn't palpate or listen for the heart beat and as I saw him I don't see the midwife until 28 weeks. I'm not worried as I heard the heart beat at the scan but just thought it was a little odd...

Love one born every minute - DH hates it,so I'm recording it -will watch last nights episode today.I cried through most episodes last time not pg,so will probably be hysterical through this series Grin

rrrayray · 05/01/2012 08:53

Hi All

Glad you heart heartbeat kayzr.

Had a shocking night last night. Had such a bad headache middle of night that it woke me. I know your having headaches too kayzr but it's all new to me, never been a headache sufferer. Am drinking tonnes, so not dehydration. BP was 110/62 last week which she said was nice and low, should I be concerned that it could have shot up & be something more sinister? Or just a horrible few head aches. Hmm

Sorry for the me me me post!!! Blush

Florin · 05/01/2012 14:16

rrrayray sorry to hear you are feeling awful hope you feel better soon.
Had my 16 week appointment today all was well and she found the heartbeat which was a great relief! Every appointment feels like one step closer to a healthy baby.
Hope everyone is surviving the winds, we had a couple of slipped tiles which dh had to sort out this morning at 7am poor chap!

SpecialJK · 05/01/2012 16:02

rrayray I've started getting headaches too. Never had them before, right above my brow bone too. I think some of it is dehydration, as I've never been good at drinking enough and apparently you need even more when pregnant.

I'm also having problems sleeping ,for no apparent reason. wake up during the night.

Quick question. I said I was happy with the nearby hospital at booking appointment, but now I see the one 9 miles away gets really good feedback on maternity. Can I choose which hospital or does it need to be one in my local trust area? and can I change now? Would other people travel the 9 miles to get a potentially better service, or want to just get to the closest one???

florin great news about heartbeat! I have my 16 week on Wednesday and have fingers xd
