Florin · 01/01/2012 20:55

twiglet I got my 20 week scan appointment at my booking in appointment before I got my 12 week scan date! Got mine at 21 weeks as on holiday just before.
warlin can't believe we are having babies this year either. I felt so emotional when the clocks strike 12, feel the count down to baby being here has really started now!

Florin · 01/01/2012 21:02

Oh has anyone else felt movement yet? I seems to get what I think are flutterings every so often mainly when I am relaxing in the evenings.

Kayzr · 01/01/2012 21:31

I had just written and tried to post a post and the internet stopped. Grrr Angry

Twiglet I have tried to get DP to agree to Robin but no such luck. I also tried Percy as the person who gave DP his new job is called Percy but nope.Sad I was very pleased with the results this weekend. Especially as my mum supports QPRGrin

I haven't had my 20 week scan appointment through yet.

Florin I have been thinking I have felt movements, just those really faint fluttering type movements. Especially after sex, sorry if TMI.

I can't believe we are having babies this year, its so exciting. My friend is due in May and she has her birth plan written already, I might leave mine a while yet!!

Dalrymps · 01/01/2012 22:31

Hey ladiesSmile

Feel like I'm getting over the worst of this bug. Still have to be careful of what I eat cause I get indigestion or tummy ache. Definitely feeling better though.

Re feeling movements. I have been worrying a little lately I hadn't felt much yet as I felt movement quite early with the other two. Anyway, the last few days I have felt the odd flutter and last night a few kicks type feelings just before midnight. That was nice as it felt like lo was saying 'I'm here celebrating with you'Smile. I'm 17 and a half weeks now just for reference. 20 week scan is on 18th jan, can't wait and am so excited to find out what we're having! Hope baby doesn't hide it's bitsGrin

10000fireflies · 01/01/2012 23:20

Dalry Glad to hear you're getting better. I had a touch of something this avo so was v sick. :-( Slept it off though and feeling quite a bit better, though a bit headachy, and of course, now no sign of dropping off to sleep. Annoying as I was going to tackle lots of cleaning and tidying today as I am finally feeling tiredness was wearing off.

I can't wait for the 20 week scan either. Have a sip of coke/orange juice/bit of chocolate just before to get you LO moving for the sonographer. Worked at our first scan. Have the 20 week scan on 1st Feb and am hoping to find out the sex too. Have some willing knitters who'd like to do something other than white!!

Pickled - welcome. How was your Christmas and NY? What was that you said about your DH? Did you say he'd left you or did I misunderstand one of your posts?

Anyone been getting a stuffy nose? I don't think it is/was a cold, but preg rhinitis. Is a bit annoying, and makes me snore really badly... Not sure how DH takes it!! Still, saw a great facial steamer in 'Your Pregnancy and Birth' (I know, a bit sad, but I've waited many years for this pregnancy, so feel I can indulge now and then) - is only a tenner from Argos so may invest in one if the snufflieness continues.

DH got paranoid a day or so before Christmas so he bought us a doppler. Have to say sound quality is pretty crap, but you can make out heartbeat, so is quite nice. Weirdly, my Biscuit Biscuits deflated somewhat which really worried me, as I've head it can be a symptom of a MC, but seems like LO is still ok.

BTW, Next reduced some of their nice wrap dresses. Couldn't resist, and got some leggings too as jeans either too tight or fall down with bump band.

Oh look, seems I have developed a touch of verbal diarrhoea to go with the tummy upset!! Night all!! Sweet dreams!! I wish my weird dreams/nightmares would go away!!

Kayzr · 02/01/2012 09:29

Morning,

I just feel like having a moan so please ignore it and let me ramble on Grin

I am getting really bad headaches, pretty much everyday now for about 10 days. I have no chance of seeing a GP before my midwife appointment on Thursday. I am drinking plenty so not dehydrated I don't think.

The other thing is I have a feeling of doom for some reason. I was fine until my MW appt before christmas when she couldn't find the heartbeat but I was only 14 weeks. She did say there was a very slim chance of finding it but she thought she'd try anyway. I have a doppler and I can't find a heartbeat either.
I have still got all the symptoms I had before. Ridiculous heartburn, leg cramps, my boobs ache and are huge and weeing for England.

I can't wait for the MW appt Thursday and the scan Saturday so I can stop feeling like I am going insane. SadSad

10000fireflies · 02/01/2012 09:51

Oh Kayzr, why would we ignore you when you're having such a rough time? I am not surprised you are finding things difficult. Have you tried phoning your MW/hospital? If no joy with them, suggest you dust down your best acting skills and get to either ER or EPU, claiming cramping/bleeding so you can get a scan asap and save your sanity. The heartburn, leg cramps, aching and weeing really sounds enough for you to be seen by a GP fairly pronto anyway. Thursday would be too long for anyone to wait in your position.

Keep us posted and don't worry about moaning. Isn't this thread all about supporting each other when we need it most?

FF
xx

Dalrymps · 02/01/2012 09:52

Morning ladiesSmile

Fireflies Envy of the new dresses, I seem to spend all of my time in jogging bottoms. Not very flattering!

Kayzr Please try not to worry, I know that's easy for me to say but all the signs are looking good. I think these dopplers can cause more worry than reassurance sometimes. Just concentrate on the fact you have still got a good set of symptoms. Won't be long till your app now ((hugs))

I'm feeling better again today so we're planning on treating ourselves to a roast chicken dinnerSmile Just having breakfast with the boys whilst dh has a sleep in (his turn)

How is everyone today?

Kveta · 02/01/2012 10:16

kazyr I have a feeling of doom too :-/ not sure why. MW couldn't find heartbeat at my 16 week appt either, but they NEVER found it with DS, even at 40 weeks, because he wriggled so bloody much, so am hoping this one is the same.

I am 18 weeks tomorrow (today is Monday, right?! have totally lost track of time!) and have 20 week scan on the 13th, so fingers crossed all is well.

insomnia is still pretty bad here, so will be trying to get a GP appt soon and see if they can prescribe anything. I'm walking around in such a fog of exhaustion. DH isn't much better though, as DS has been sleeping v. badly the past week.

I am also getting so so sick of bfing DS and wish he would just stop! my boobs are so sore at the moment. Hopefully either he will self wean soon, or I will start tolerating him feeding again. I'm too lazy to actively stop him feeding now though, plus am getting worried about how jealous he'd be in june if he'd recently stopped bfing and this usurper appears and lives attached to my boobs.

Kayzr · 02/01/2012 10:18

I don't know Fireflies I just didn't want to bring anyone down but wanted to moan.

The email I got from mothercare said that heartbeats can certainly be heard using a doppler and I couldn't find it. So now I am panicking. I keep thinking I feel movements which can only be a good thing.

I might ring the maternity ward and see what they say but will probably say to wait until Thursday as I have an appointment anyway.

Thank you Smile

Twiglet100 · 02/01/2012 10:44

Hi Kazyr, I am with you on the headache bus. Have had a couple of 2 day blinders which were bordering on migraines - feeling/being sick and a bit visually disturbed. Was thinking of trying to see the GP as I don't know how I'll manage going back to work and having to use a computer screen all day (tends to set it off). In the meantime, I've done a bit of MN searching so maybe these links will help:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/866909-Headaches/AllOnOnePage
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/849537-13-weeks-pregnant-and-blinding-headaches/AllOnOnePage

10000fireflies · 02/01/2012 10:48

Kayzr - is it a Mothercare doppler? DH had a look at the reviews which suggested they're not great so could explain why you're not picking up the HB. Do a bit of googling and see what reviews you can find for your model. And don't worry about moaning!! You're not really. Maybe Kveta's experience helps a little?

Mmmm. Roast chicken sounds good Dalry. DH and I might just pop over and join you. Xmas Grin

Kveta - sorry to hear about the insomnia. Must be rough. I've had a few sleepless phases over Christmas and it's just not nice feeling like you're in a fog. Hope you find something that helps. As for BF, are you going to have a fight over your BiscuitBiscuit come June??!!

OMG, have to stop procrastinating and get on with housework. Where's that nesting instinct when you need it??!! Xmas Smile

Kayzr · 02/01/2012 11:48

I got it from a friend who is a nurse and she got it through the midwives where she works. She said she couldn't always find a heartbeat either.

I imagine I'm just worrying about nothing and hopefully the midwife will find heartbeat easily on thurs.

callmemamma · 02/01/2012 15:23

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!!! :)
I'm sorry for everyone who is still suffering sickness, headaches and all other stuff...
kayzr please try not to worrry,I'm sure your little one is just fine
I feel fine just still tired in the afternoons and having guilty nap every time dh is at home(guilty because he wakes up to work at 4 or as early as 2..but still never moans and looking after dd while I have a nap)
I have my 20 weeks scan on 7th Feb and untill then we probably won't even have names debate,we want to find out if it's a boy or girl first.

Kayzr · 02/01/2012 17:48

The maternity ward said I could go in tomorrow and they will try and find the heartbeat. She said not to eat or drink anything just incase something has gone wrong.

So I feel a bit worse now rather than re assured. But the maternity ward at the local hospital is open 9-5 so I might ring them and see if my MW is there to talk to.

HorseyGirl1 · 02/01/2012 18:35

Try not to worry Kayzr, the fact that you have such strong pregnancy symptoms is a good sign. Also your midwife said that she wasn't sure if she would be able to get a heartbeat and she just didn't. She didn't say she would definitely be able to hear it. I got heartbeat heard by local midwife at check up when I was 16 weeks but it was really only for a FEW seconds at most and she had to try and try for AGES before she could find it. If I hadn't been scanned the day before at a hospital review I would have been a wreck with my imagination running riot by now, so I can well imagine your distress.
As for your doppler, if a pro couldn't hear it (and wasn't even sure in the first place that she could find it at this stage anyway) you probably won't be able to find it as a lay person until your bumpy is a few weeks bigger. Glad you can get in to see them tomorrow. At least it's better than having to wait for Thursday. Headache is probably due to all the worry and stress this has caused you rather than anything else. Try and rest as best you can until tomorrow. xx

millyv · 02/01/2012 21:57

Evening all!
Just thought that I'd check in quickly before I put myself to bed ready for work again tomorrow!

Kayzr, I hope you're ok, try not to worry even though I know it must be hard, you still have so many symptoms and I've been told to stay away from dopplers as they can cause far more worry than reassurance! I hope all goes well tomorrow for you and you get the reassurance you need!

All the decorations are down now in our house and it's nearly looking back to normal again! DH has been fab today helping with all of the cleaning etc.... Can't believe how quickly these holidays seem to have gone!

I can't remember who mentioned it but I had 2 days of constant headaches before Christmas, apparently it is a normal pregnancy thing but I definitely think it's affected by stress!

Hope everyone is good, my bump
Is definitely growing now I think - can't wait until I look less fat and more pregnant! Smile

Good night all! Xxx

exBrightonBell · 03/01/2012 01:12

Hi. I've been lurking for a while, but thought it was time to say hello :-) I think I have also been afraid of saying hello in case of jinxing anything. Crazy but there we go! I am due on 27th June, with my first :-)

As you can probably tell from the time stamp I am prone to insomnia, which results in much browsing of the discussion topics!

Florin · 03/01/2012 07:36

Welcome exbrightonbell
First day back at work today not looking forward to it! Roll on maternity leave! Has anyone had any thoughts when they may start mat leave yet? I am thinking of going at 38 weeks, midwife friend says this is quite late my Mum keeps having ago at me saying it's too early!

Kayzr · 03/01/2012 07:44

Morning.

Florin I was 37 weeks with DS1. Mat leave started at 39 weeks though as I used some holiday. I was 34 with DS2 and got signed off sick as I could hardly walk anymore.

Yesterday the MW said to ring EPAU at half 7. So I did. The woman there said that I could go in but the women under 12 weeks with bleeding and pain would be seen first, they won't scan me as I'm over 12 weeks and that I will probably be sat there until everyone else has been seen. Also it shuts at 12 so if I'm not seen by then they will just send me home.

So I'm going to hold out until my MW appointment on Thursday. I don't want to sit at the hospital all day!

Dalrymps · 03/01/2012 12:02

Hey everyoneSmile

Kayzr I don't blame you not wanting to wait in the hosp all day. Hope the time passes quickly till thurs. Sure all is fine.

Welcome and congrats exBrightonGrin feel free to copy and paste the latests stats list of us all and add yourself.

Just chilling here today before dh back to work tomorrow. Didn't manage chicken dinner yesterday as it was too late to cook it by the time we had bought all the ingredients! Anyway, dh let me have a sleep in this morning and prepared all the veg with the boys whilst I slept (hero) so we're having it for lunch todaySmile

Warlin · 03/01/2012 13:04

Morning all

Sorry to make you all jealous but I am off work until Monday :). Sorry for those back today! I need to ease myself into Jan! DH back today so meeting friends for lunch and chilling out etc...

Kayzr I know nothing will stop you worrying but I really think you'll be fine. Those dopplers are unreliable and you still have all the symptoms. Thur will prob just give you some reassurance but please stay positive, I worry too that something has happened as haven't felt movement yet (I'm 16 +4) but you can convince yourself of anything so just stay positive.

kveta how old is DS? Can't believe you still bf! If your boobs are anything like mine you must be in agony.

Weird I know but after finding M&S shut on Mon I borrowed some of my mums bras!! DH thinks it's weird but they are the size and I need and sooo comfy! :)

Went pram shopping yest. Love the bugaboo but got a dilema...the single can't be converted for second child (we would like 2 close together if poss) and they do a slightly bigger one that can be converted but feel like I'm tempting fate and if I get that one we won't have any more DC......don't know what to do.......

Florin I'm thinking of stopping at 38 weeks too but mainly because my mat pay is crap! Just want to stop now to be honest!! :)

Welcome exbrightenbell.

Hi to everyone else.

Florin · 03/01/2012 13:53

warlin is it the bugaboo donkey you are looking at? If so that is the one we are going for. It's our first baby but would like if possible to have another not to long after plus my sister is due 2.5 week after me so would be useful if we have both babies together. Hopefully this would mean we future proof ourselves!

millyv · 03/01/2012 15:33

Afternoon all!

Back to reality with a bang today, I really did not appreciate my alarm going off this morning!

A friend who had her first baby in October has the bugaboo chameleon and loves it, I'm still mmore of a fan of the icandy but can see why people who are thinking of having more than 1 child would consider the donkey.

Has anyone thought about NCT yet? I had't even heard of it but my sister in law and her friend were asking if I'd signed up yet?!?! I've been on their website and asked for info on the antenatal classes and the stretching and breathing (or whatever it's calledConfused) class which I think is supposed to be a little like antenatal yoga? Has anyone got any experiences with any of these classes?

warlin similar story to you, I had to wear a pair of my mums Sloggys over the holidays (brand new pair before anyone gets freaked out!) DH was extremely unhappy about this and made me promise I wouldn't be buying any for myself - they were mega comfy though!

Welcome to all of the newbies!

Hope you are feeling ok today Kayzr, positive thoughts until your appointment and I'm certain all will be ok!

Hope you're all having a good day!

xx
