New thread with updated stats, before the old one grinds to a halt at 1000 and we loose people! Plus its running so slow it barely loads for me :)

Florin · 26/12/2011 20:35

Hope everyone had lovely Christmas's mine was good with my family just wish mil didn't have to come with us. Dh doesn't like her being there either so it makes him feel fed up too. Off to our holiday home in Cornwall tomorrow with my parents which should be lovely and much more relaxed without mil!
For Christmas got the dream genii pregnancy pillow. It is wonderful and had very comfy nights sleep last night. Would highly recommend it!

thedogwalker · 26/12/2011 21:12

Moving myself again as I had migrated back to my original spot. Wondering what has happened to some of the folk...

AwayinaKayzr · 27/12/2011 12:35

Miniangel I hope the move goes well for you.

We've been pram window shopping today. With DP starting his new job soon and being away for about 10 weeks we wanted to get it all picked so it just needs ordering.

I could look at prams all day long.

Warlin · 27/12/2011 17:58

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a lovely Chrimbo. It's great to be able to eat the chocolate guilt free for a change! I also tried some turkey (have been veggie for 12 years) but feeling I need to eat some meat for the baby. Was actually nice so will try and eat chicken from now on...proud of myself!

mini good luck with the house move! Hope all goes well.

kayzr what pram are you getting. We are keen to have a wee look over the hols. My dad gave me the Which report on them but it seems to be a real minefield! Might go with my mum as she knows what to look for :)

Tried to order some maternity stuff online in next sale but the website was really annoying. Wanted me to buy on each page and wouldn't save from different pages Angry. went into the shop and got some nice tops (just in a size bigger than normal!) Really need to get some new trousers and jeans though. Anyone got any nice ones??? And advice.

dogwalker glad everyone is pleased for you and that it's finally out in the open.

florin enjoy Cornwall with your family. Will be nice to get away for a bit and I hope you cope with the limited connectivity!

Hi to everyone else.

x

mrsshears · 27/12/2011 18:02

hi everyone
We got our pram today kayzr i have been looking around and had decided on a mammas and pappas switch,we went to a factory store today and managed to get one for £200 !!! it will go nicely with the m and p car seat i got for £80 in the next sale.
I can highly recommend the mammas and pappas factory stores there are some fantastic prices on all sorts of baby essentials.
hope everyone is well and has had a fab christmas.

mrsshears · 27/12/2011 18:07

Sorry, lets try the car seat one again

AwayinaKayzr · 27/12/2011 18:33

We are getting the mamas and papas Ultima with the MPX chassis. We love it and after looking at about 8 prams today we decided it was the best for us. We are getting it in the Mimi fabric.

I am feeling really impatient at the minute. I just want it to hurry along.

mrsshears · 27/12/2011 19:04

They look lovely kayz
I saw some of those today and was tempted but the switch will suit our lifestlye a bit more.
I love a 'real' pram like that,i think some of the designs nowadays look quite uncomfortable.

ThePickledGerbil · 27/12/2011 22:39

Hello all, been lurking on here for weeks but it's finally sunk it it may be real so I'll join if you'll have me.

I'm due on the 7th June so am nearly 17 weeks with my first. I have PCOS and never, ever thought it would happen so while I'm thrilled, I'm terrified it's all going to go away!

I had a scan at 9 weeks as they suspected it was ectopic (pain) but all was well. They then refused to give me a 12 week scan as I'd had the 9 week one Sad It was horrible as I was booked in specifically for a scan and it'd been on my mind constantly...i'd convinced myself it was dead. The midwife wasn't particularly supportive, just told me to stop being silly and reading horror stories on the internet Hmm

Luckily the doctor was able to hear it's heartbeat at 14weeks Smile

But as I wouldn't be having a scan until the end of feb, I booked a private scan which I had last week. They were able to tell he is a boy Grin

I'm so happy, but things at home with DH aren't good. I'm also worried about money as I'm self employed. I know I can get maternity allowance but I don't want to lose my business (it'll be hard to carry on when big/with a newborn as it's a physical job...no, not lapdancing Grin ) but priorities, priorities!

Luckily I haven't been too ill so far, just low level (but constant!) nausea, but I am ballooning as opposed to blooming...how the hell can being pregnant make your thighs and arse blow up?! I've had to stop running so that won't help, but I realised I did the great North Run when the bean was about 3 days post conception Blush

Hope everyone had a great christmas and is looking forward to celebrating nye with a fruit smoothie and an early night Hmm

HorseyGirl1 · 28/12/2011 03:55

Hi Pickled. I'm due on 6th June and nearly 17 weeks too (Thursday, yay). Good idea to get a scan privately, worth it to keep you sane. Self-employed also (farmer). This is my second pregnancy as my first didn't work out (not one for here) in two years. I was prepared financially to take one year off but not two. It will be tight but will just have to manage. Having a boy too! Best to stay away from Dr Google - just freaks you out honest. Although midwife in local health centre googled a blood test term I didn't understand in my notes so... not really what you want to see. Anyway, take care.

Rrrrayray · 28/12/2011 08:53

Hi all

Welcome pickled. Sorry about scan situation, glad you managed to get a reassuring private one. Money well spent im sure. Your 20 week scan must be only a few weeks away now! Wink

Loving all the pram talk. We have an out n about nip about travel system for DD, but the hood has broken and they have discontinued the model so we can't replace the hood, so too will be getting a new one.

16 week check up this morning. DH at work so just DD and I. Fingers crossed all well. Hmm

TeaandHobnobs · 28/12/2011 09:26

Good luck for your checkup this morning Rrrrayray

Welcome Pickled! sorry things are looking a bit tough at the moment, but I'm hope things will sort themselves out Xmas Smile

Warlin do you think it is worth getting the Which guide for prams? I was trying to explain all the different types to DH, but don't think I explained very well.

Good luck with the house move miniangel!

I am lying in bed while DH is still asleep, being beset by major paranoia! I thought I felt a movement at 13 weeks, but I don't feel like I've felt anything since Xmas Sad I know I shouldn't be worried yet, only 15 weeks tomorrow so still early days for that, but it is weighing on my mind. Also thinking about the colossal amount of home improvements that will need to be done in the next 6 months... DH loves to moan about the house and what needs doing, but funnily enough can't motivate himself to do anything about it! Anyone have experience of doing up houses? Is it worth starting with a surveyor for their opinion on what needs sorting? We have various issues - basement needs tanking, window frames disintegrating, plasterboard in ceiling of basement damaged by leak from the bathroom of the flat upstairs Hmm

Sorry, big old moan from me!

On a happy note, off to see two friends today - one has just finished her PhD and is officially a doctor! And the other has a 2 week old - newborn snuggles, so excited!!!!!!

Anyone hitting the shops today?

emblosion · 28/12/2011 10:58

Happy (belated) Christmas everyone. Hope you've all been enjoying the festive season. We had a great time at my mums but internnet was massively slooow so havent been able to mumsnet.

Am very impressed by you organised ladies getting prams! We have a load of decorating to do so not planning to buy anything til the spring/when its done.

Am off to try to catch up with the thread x

ThePickledGerbil · 28/12/2011 11:42

Thankyou for the welcome everyone Smile

I'm very intimidated impressed with how organised some of you are! Prams etc. have not entered my head yet; I have no clue about babies. Very steep learning curve coming up!!!

Similar circumstances Horsey ! Very wise about googling; I'm just a masochist Grin From your name I guess you have horses; have you found them act differently with you. I have one very, very crabby mare (rescue, was abused), who is in foal (didn't know this when we recused her Hmm) who has suddenly become my best mate! Sweet!

Loads of home improvements to do too. DH has left me and we were mid-way through some jobs. Think the baby will have to share with the hens at this rate as I'm crap at DIY, I get so bored and impatient I just bodge things!

Good luck everybody with scans/ check-ups and jobs!

AwayinaKayzr · 28/12/2011 12:24

Welcome Pickled

I have yet another cold. I just want to go to bed with a lemsip. The boys are full of beans and very lively.

I think I might go to bed and leave DP to make pizzas. Grin

Warlin · 28/12/2011 14:57

Morning all

Welcome pickles sorry things are tough but being pregnant is stressful. DH self employed and I just started a new job so no mat pay for me...still determined to take 9 months though...everyone says you manage when you have to. DH is really busy in work which is great but worries things will get bad next year.

tea I had a look at Which but they hadn't tested any of the models I'm considering. Going to look next week but from internet research I love the look of the Bugaboo Camelion.

I'm impatient too...to move house and for the baby to come! I'm worried we'll lose the house we want as we haven't our own sorted. Will be gutted.

Wish I could roll the clock forward a few months! Loving my bump now! Makes it feel more real but still keen for another scan. Had a wee look in Next at baby clothes....didn't want to tempt fate but still dying to find out the sex. Need to work on DH but hope they can tell at my next scan 9th Jan (18 weeks) :) I just think it's easier to know.

I'm missing running too... :( but won't be forever.

Going out to see friends this aft and then off to visit my friends' 2 week old in the morning for a cuddle :) My other friend is 3 days overdue and very uncomfortable!

Hi to everyone else

Ps to those who have done the pram shopping....did you have to order and how long to wait for delivery?

mrsshears · 28/12/2011 15:22

We took ours there and then warlin, its in the front room and i can't stop looking at it Grin
I had a next order turn up today too, lots of up to 1 month, neutral baby basics. We have our 20 week scan on the 17th but don't want to find out as we enjoyed the anticipation last time.

AwayinaKayzr · 28/12/2011 16:10

Warlin I am having an early scan at 16 weeks to try and find out the sex before DP goes to work.

Mamas and papas said we had to order it in as they don't keep much stock in the shop. So I might order it online instead.

HorseyGirl1 · 28/12/2011 19:59

Hi Pickled. Only one very old pony these days. My name on here was actually my Dad's nickname for me when I was a child! But yes, know what you mean. I had a two year old filly during my first pregnancy and she DEFINITELY knew there was something different about me but just didn't know what! How weird is that? I thought it was just my imagination but obviously not. LOL about the bodging - I always end up 'fixing' things too. I think I'll probably hold off on the getting things for a while - April / May sounds perfectly reasonable, non? :-)
