kayzr sorry to hear about your wedding, I would male the same choice as you though, that's a lot of extra money a month!

Sorry been away for a few days, it's been manic here and starting to panic about getting everything done for the weekend!

Congrats on all of the scans, I have mine at 10am tomorrow- so excited but nervous, I make me 14 weeks today- hoping they agree tomorrow as I'd be gutted to be put back! Also hoping that I can relax more after seeing the little one again, even though I've seen him or her once I'm still worried it will all be ok, all of your happy stories are exciting me!

Had a really bad headache for 2 days now, still feel like rubbish, I'm sure it's because I'm dreaming so much it feels like I'm nit actually sleeping! I'm hoping it gets better soon! On the plus side though, I haven't fainted since the first one a few weeks ago, hoping that has passed!

Hope you all have a lovely night, I'm off for a bath and then bed! X

Warlin · 20/12/2011 09:36

Morning all

itchy your story about DH and the crying baby made me laugh :o

The men are in for such a shock! My DH has no idea what hard work it will be..he is very set in his ways!! And he's a very deep sleeper so that will have to change. It must be strange for the men as we all know what it's like through friends etc but they don't really feel the pregnancy until it hits them in the face!

I'm feeling rubbish today. Was up half the night with a really sore throat and have been throwing up this morning. I think it's more cold/ flu/ bug than pregnancy related though. Getting through work is a drag this week. I think I'm totally run down too which isn't helping. Sorry for the moan :)

Anyway hopefully will be better by the weekend. Think I'll get into the maternity jeans I bought this weekend as seriously running out of comfotable clothing options these days!

Hope you all have a good day.

My next scan date is 11th jan and my 20 week scan is 30th Jan...bit nervous about it as was reading up on what they check. Hope everything is ok...we will hopefully all relax a bit after that!!!

Kveta · 20/12/2011 09:44

millyv good luck today! hope it all goes well!

Warlin wait until your DH feels the baby kick - my DH was so excited then! It made it seem a lot more real for him I think!

I just found out another friend is expecting a June baby - I want to ask her if she's on here, so if any of you are Glasgow based and went to B primary then D Academy and put a scan pic up yesterday on fb, then hi! Xmas Grin I am not v. anonymous so you'll prob know who I am!

I am such a muppet too. Making christmas cookies yesterday, I had one sheet to go in the oven, and another sheet to get out of the oven, so guess which I used the oven gloves for? I have a lovely trio of blisters on my hand now, and DH keeps going 'how the feck did you get a PhD, woman?!' at me Xmas Grin Still, the cookies are yummy, and I only have a wee bit of dough left now, so tonight will be the last night of cooking them, and then I can get decorating some!

still got a horrible cold/cough, but last day at work today, woohoo! So I can relax a bit more tomorrow hopefully!

thedogwalker · 20/12/2011 10:22

Hi all
MillyV Hope the headache subsides and I hope you have a wonderful scan this morning, please let us know how you went on Xmas Smile
Warlin sending you some get well vibes, you don't want to be ill over the festivities, hope you feel better soon.
ouch Kveta to the burns, but yum yum to the cookies, are you sharing them Xmas Grin.
My last day at work today, cannot wait to leave the office. But saying that I am taking work home with me to sort through, a good weeks worth of stuff to check, which will keep me busy in the evenings. Good job my DH is away, he would go mad, but my nights are lonely without him and so the work fills the gap.

Still not feeling very Christmassey, some mulled wine would help, oh if only.....[dreaming of next Christmas emoticon]
Take care all xx

millyv · 20/12/2011 12:45

Morning everyone!
Just a quick message to let you all know our scan was fantastic! The little one totally flipped over when the scanner lady was trying to do some measuring, so cute! Looks like there are long legs at the moment and we saw the arm stretch out and flex all of the fingers - so weird how you can see all of this going on in your tummy but not feel it! She put me back a week though to the 24th June, I don't understand how it can be those dates but apparently they will have another check at my 20 week scan on the 9th Feb!
Hope everyone else is ok!
Xx

Warlin · 20/12/2011 13:18

milly great news on the scan! That's fab. Mine has very long legs too! We have a dvd dopy and were looking at it last night. It's funny to watch!

dogwalker that must be so loney. Have you family to go to at Christmas? Just focus on June though..DH home, new baby....you'll def not be lonely then :o You'll be craving a night with only work to keep you occupied.

Jealous of everyone finishing work today...I'm working until Friday. Envy

ceeej · 20/12/2011 13:52

welcome princessmummy and hi to everyone else

Had a lovely time with my mum last week but realised how totally dependent on the internet I am, they don't have any at home and 3G signal is rubbish, kept having to check the thread whenever I went somewhere that did have 3G. Also got told off by my grandma for going walking up mountains, she thinks I should be staying in bed for the next six months!

gutted that you have to delay the wedding kayzr but I'd have made the same decision, couldn't turn down the extra cash especially with a LO one the way

ouch kveta sounds nasty, I hope your blisters are healing, we once had a long debate in the pub over whether acid or -70 freezer burns were more painful, DH said he was amazed any of us were allowed in a lab at all.

thedogwalker I didn't take much persuading that the alcohol had been cooked out of some mulled wine the other day, it's just soooo Christmassey, hope you get all your work done and managed to enjoy Christmas as much as you can

congrats on the scan millyv cool that you got a flip

We had booking in appointment yesterday, was lovely to chat to the midwife a bit and ask some of the (possibly very dumb) questions we had. Also very excited to hear the baby's heart and she showed me where the top of my womb was which confirmed that the bump so far is definitely displaced fat rather than the actual baby.

KatyJ26 · 20/12/2011 13:59

Hi all,

millyv, glad you had such a great scan experience.
warlin, hang in there til friday, hopefully people will be winding down, so it won't be so bad.
dogwalker, don't do too much work at home - put your feet up and enjoy the mind-numbing rubbish that seems to be on tv every evening, or watch a Christmassy DVD - Love Actually gets my vote!
Kveta, enjoy your cookies - hope your blisters heal soon! Sounds like the kind of thing I'd do!
Princessmummy, welcome!

I finished work last Friday (trying not to boast, sorry Warlin!), but DS has the lurgy! Washing hands like a crazy lady, trying not to get sick/catch conjunctivitis for Christmas - don't want a gammy eye in all the photos!!! At least it's now I suppose ... every cloud ... and all that jazz! Made some decorations with the children this morning, just need to decorate them now, think that will be the messy bit! Off to see the big man tomorrow and then need to finish my Christmas shopping and start wrapping everything!

Have a good week everyone xx

itchyfootedlady · 20/12/2011 16:22

mini hope you feel better soon, thats sounds grotty.
Kayzr sorry about the wedding, but yay for the money! Thats loads, I must speak to DP and inspire him to earn more so i can avoid worki for longer. the career woman in me seems to have died a death in the last 8 weeks and now i am just counting down the days until i can leave. wonder how long that will last when i have nobody to boss around and am at the whim of a small person!
Warlin feel free to have a good moan. i am doing it regularly, although have avoided doing it on here for the last 4 weeks or you would all be so fed up of me by now i'd be ostracized. DH gets all the pleasure of whinges, and my mum, neither of them can not love me so its safe to abuse them :) I'm at work until friday too, i'm ok from 8:30 until about 3:30 but the last 2.5hrs are killing me every day nad i puke at 4pm just from being so tired i think! Had a 6 hour meeting today and had to apologise as i left to pee every hour. its not easy when you are running the meeting to keep leaving without explaining yourself so in the end i just told them all i was pregnant. actually made everyone much friendlier... told my boss its a useful tool with clients. he said i have to keep it with my womens arsenal of crying when people swear at me, and smacking the hands of clients like children when they fiddle with prototypes or break components, he doesn't reckon it would work for all the boys though.
Kveta yum to the cookies but ouch to the burns! enjoy the rest of the week after leaving work. very jealous.
dogwalker i just want to give you a hug. just think of the bubs and lovely DH coming back and buy some of that random mulled juice people keep mentioning that tastes like mulled wine if you microwave it!
ceej what was the decision? -70degrees or chemicals?? i say well done on the mountain walking. i plan a bit at new year and can't wait to get away from my desk. Spent Saturday with superwoman though, she went adventure ski touring round norway at 6 motnhs, did some crazy salilng race round the isle of white at 7 months and 39 boats capsized and sank (although not hers) and made the mistake of telling me she didn;t even notice she was pregnant until she was about 5 months. i got home and cried all over DH that i am a big pukey, weepy, sleepy and bloated mess and not like superwoman at all. katy enjoy the week off, and fingers off you don't get conjunctivitis! I once went to meet my new boyfriends friends for the first time aged about 17, and somehow managed to get conjunctivities between leaving the house and arriving at the pub, my face was so swollen that they called me jabba the hutt and it was my nickname for the next 2 years.

I am thinking that i may go home early so i can buy some lactulose to try and deal with the ever increasing backup of salt and vinegar crisps in my system. i need to eat some every hour to avoid puking, but i only crap every 3-4 days... i'm sure my new 'bump' that DH keeps affectionately kissing is just a big crispy build up! Pregnancy is mot at all glamourous so far. i go on the seraphine website to look at the lovely clothes sometimes to try and rebuild the dream of neat little bumps and glowing pregnancy but then trapped wind or backache or some random fanjo pain brings me right back to real life... Xmas Hmm

gosh that was long. i am obviously not doing anything productive in the office. time to sneak out claiming i'm off to 'work from home'!

AwayinaKayzr · 20/12/2011 21:34

Millyv I'm pleased that your scan was so good. It sounds so cute. Xmas Grin

I HATE heartburn. I want to cry right now. I have 5 bottles of gaviscon dotted around the house. It's just horrible. [fsaf]

Florin · 21/12/2011 08:03

millyv congratulations on your scan!
I have been awake since 4:10 so completly knacked I just couldn't get back to sleep-it's going to be a long day for me. Dh out tonight so think I will have an early night to try and catch up!
Had a meal out last night which was nice, nice not feeling quite so sick anymore!

honeybee23 · 21/12/2011 10:19

Hello to everyone on this thread.I have only posted once in this thread but have been reading your posts on the train off my phone almost everyday so I feel like I've been here all the time. I've had a rough couple of months like many of you with sickness and headaches and bloating. But I had the scan last Friday and that was probably the moment when I realised just how stressed I had been (I had some bleeding for a few weeks at the beginning of the pregnancy). After we came out of the scan room, having seen that all is well and baby was happily wriggling away, I completely broke down in DH's arms.:) icthyfootedlady, warlin, ecstatica, florin, millyv, kayzr, kveta, dogwalker, ceej, mini (forgive me for having probably left so many of you out) I've shared your joys and frustrations and tough moments even though I haven't posted. I hope I am still welcome here even if I'm rubbish at posting.
Today is my last working day (in fact I'm working from home, that's why I'm able to write), I'm so looking forward to doing nothing for the next two weeks off. I'm also hoping the blooming starts already because the only B word I've experienced so far is bloating. Is gaviscon good for bloating, too? Or is there anything that actually works? I get bloated regardless of what I eat, I start the day looking normal and then by afternoon I look 5 months pregnant! Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I'll have a very quiet Christmas this year just my DH and me and the dog. We plan to give each other pyjamas for Christmas (we're broke as we bought our first house last year) and stay on the sofa under a duvet and watch old movies on Christmas day. Hope you all have the Christmases you wish for. You're all in my thoughts.xx

Rrrrayray · 21/12/2011 14:20

Hi all.

Welcome honeybee! Fruit fruit and fruit is helping de bloat me.

Have we all had 12 week scans now? I know some were booked much more like 14 weeks so am guessing must be some more stories soon??!

Won't be long before first 20 week scan!

Off to wedding evening reception tonight. Wearing dress from summer wedding, left until this morning to put on, as was fearful might not fit, but hurrah it does!! Grin

Hope everyone's last few days at work / Christmas preparations going well. Xxx

KatyJ26 · 21/12/2011 15:06

had 16 week appointment today... the midwife used doppler thingy and I heard a very faint heartbeat, then it went, I panicked and obviously went bright red, she told me not to be silly and that nothing was wrong and then found a really faint one again after a few minutes (but it felt like a lifetime), so I was hoping to feel reassured, but don't especially. She was also suprised I hadn't felt baby move yet, but wrote in my notes that I had felt it (why would you do that?). I also had a really high clotting factor (not sure of correct terminology) - I'm sure if it was an issue, she would have said, I'll google it in a minute. I'm usually quite assertive, but I don't seem to be in her presence, I find her really condescending and verging on patronising ... she seemed cross that I hadn't taken a urine sample, I did say that she hadn't asked me to, but it still seemed to be an issue - ah well, ho hum. Bring on the 20 week scan!

honeybee123 sounds like a perfect Christmas! Minus the dog for me - I'm sure your dog is lovely, I just happen to be allergic to them! In fact, does anyone know of any antihistamines that are safe to take when you are pregnant? My sister's dog is coming for Christmas lunch!

Sorry for the rant! Xmas Blush xx

thedogwalker · 21/12/2011 19:49

Hi all, Katy don't worry about the heartbeat, our LOs move about so much (they have alot of room) that it is hard to follow them around with the doppler thingy. Be kind to yourself and stop worrying, you had a happy moment of hearing your LOs heartbeat, rejoice Smile
Hi honeybee glad you are now feeling abit better to be able to post, I too had a few weeks absent due to sickness. Glad you're back.
I had my 15 week MW check today, my area do it at 15 weeks Hmm anyway, LOs heartbeat strong and loud when the MW eventually found it. Plus got my Nuchal results. Last time in Germany they gave me the odds of 1:250, pretty naff, so I was on the high risk for Downs. Well I don't know if the tests are different here, the blood one anyway, as I was expecting a high risk again (not getting any younger), but this time it is 1:2860 Grin . Well happy with that.
Well I'm off to DMs tomorrow so stepping back in time, no internet there and my phone is a blackberry, which MN hasn't done an App for yet Shock. So I wish all you lovely ladies a very merry Christmas and I will be back before the New year. Take care all xx

AwayinaKayzr · 21/12/2011 20:14

Evening,

Katy don't worry too much. It can be quite hard to find sometimes and like TDW says they move about so much at the minute.

Honeybee Hello I am really pleased that you are feeling up to posting and I hope you keep posting. Your christmas sounds lovely. I was just looking at christmas pictures from last year and our dog was a tiny little pup then.

TDW Have a lovely time at your DMs. Hope you enjoy Christmas.

I am craving washing up liquid. I want to drink it Hmm why oh why???

10000fireflies · 21/12/2011 20:15

Cheddar Ooooh. Pink hair! I tried that once. Clashed with my cheeks!! Hope you make it through your last day tomorrow ok.
Kveta How's your cold? Did you avoid a chest infection? Re that metallic taste - have you tried something lemony to drink? I've heard that takes the taste away. Vanocka sounds good. Wonder when Morrison's will start selling that along with Panetone?
Warlin A house on the beach? That's my dream come true. I want one for Christmas!! Santa, I've been very good this year!!! I am so jealous! Xmas Envy Lucky you!! Did you get it? When do you move in? Have you managed to fight that cold/flu? I agree with you on the 20 week scan - will relax after mine too, but have been much happier since the 12 week scan and combined results came back ok.
Dalyrmps I'm afraid I'm rather jealous of you too, seeing as you have lost weight and will have to eat a lot over Christmas. Xmas Envy Seriously though, can't have been nice if you've been that sick.
Horseygirl How was your check up? Haven't heard from you since. Are you ok?
Pink Congrats on the scan, and sorry you're leaving us for the July thread. I hope they're as nice as we are.
ChateauMargot Glad you've got those dizzy spells under control. Hope they don't happen too often, and that MW has some useful advice for you.
Itchy Your scan sounds wonderful. LMAO re your DH wondering if all babies cry like that?. My DH has a good idea of how noisy they can be so is bracing himself. Loved your work story too. Your boss sounds quite cool. Hope you're feeling better about your superwoman encounter. Wouldn't have done me any good either as I have zero energy. Still. Getting v frustrating.
Mini How are you? Getting better I hope?
Kayzr Sorry to hear you're postponing your wedding. Was looking forward to hearing about it on this thread. Did you sort the venue out ok?
Milly Did your headache go in the end? Did you take anything for it? Glad your scan was good. It is nice to see it for yourself, and amazing how much there is going on in there, esp when sometimes we may not feel pregnant.
TDW Sorry you're not feeling very festive. Must be v difficult with DH away. Did you watch Nigel Slater's Simple Christmas? It's making me feel very Christmassy. Mmmm those flapjacks look soooooo scrummy. Your combined results sound great - 7x better than mine. I phoned hospital to get mine last week and was given results of 1:1410, but when they came in the post was obvious had been misread as are actually 1:410. Big difference, but still negative. Hope you have a lovely time at your Mum's. Happy Christmas. Xmas SmileXmas SmileXmas SmileXmas Smile BTW, I have a BB and can read the thread on that, though I haven't tried posting with it.
ceej OMG, my Mum would have a fit if I said I was going hill-walking. She thinks I need to spend the entire pregnancy in bed! She freaks if we mention flying somewhere.
Katy You're sounding very domesticated and sorted. Hope you avoided getting the lurgy/conjunctivitis. Don't worry about the heartbeat being feint. Baby was probably just resting in a nice snug place away from the nasty MW. I would change MW right away if she's being like that though. Don't put up with it. Pregnancy is stressful enough not to be supported by the medical professionals we have to deal with. I don't like the way she's written in your notes that you could feel the baby moving when you couldn't. We are peed off with my consultant appt as she told me I'd be induced at bang on 40 weeks if baby doesn't arrive before then. She wrote 'patient happy with this' in my notes, so I have written my own comments in the folder and discussed with MW who updated. Re antihisimines -check with pharmacist. I have hayfever, but was told many over the counter remedies are ok while pregnant.
Honey Congrats - another great scan. Counting them all in now!! I don't know about the bloating - I've heard it should pass as you get into the second Trimester. Maybe you need to cut down on salt? What does your MW say?
Rrray How was the wedding reception?

Sorry to everyone who has heartburn, and still feeling sick, and to everyone who's suffering with seasonal bugs, colds and flu. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Been a bit headachey myself. Think it's because I got a bit cold and wet Monday night late night shopping, or may be slight dehydration. Anyway, feeling better now. I checked the Next sale preview for maternity clothes, but none of their lovely dresses reduced yet so will wait until the ones I want go down a bit more.

Have a good evening and hope you get through the rest of the week ok. Nearly time for a holiday!! Xmas Wink I am off for a soak and to 'read' Loser Closer magazine in the bath.

10000fireflies · 21/12/2011 20:17

Kayzr - washing up liquid??!!! Xmas Shock WTF???? Have you managed to resist the fairy liquid yet, or are you going with it??!! Quick, switch on Nigel on beeb one- he's cooking a lovely looking duck dish. Might take your mind off it!! Xmas Grin Xmas Wink

AwayinaKayzr · 21/12/2011 20:21

1000 I love your big long posts. I am resisting the fairy liquid. I do sniff it now and then but I refuse to drink it as I know it will tast vile.

The reception venue are fine with us changing the date. They are fantastic anyway so I knew that they would be ok with it.

ffnorm · 21/12/2011 20:48

1000 how do you do these amazing posts??? Do you take notes as you read or is your memory uber amazing???

itchy I am also starting on the Lactulose - Had some constipation in my last pg but this time is rediculous even a bag of dried apricots didn't have a great effect.

I too felt flutterings last night,(14+5 today) was really pleased as last time only noticed movement at 21 weeks but realised I had been feeling it for longer but hadn't realised what it was...

I'm off work until the 27th,so feel festivities can begin now and it is DS 2nd birthday on Friday. Also booked our tickets to South Africa for January (better late than never - pg has made me very disorganised) so not long til we are in the sun and see our family Xmas Smile

10000fireflies · 21/12/2011 22:04

Kayzr - thank goodness a good sniff satisfies that craving! Xmas Grin When are you moving your wedding until?

ffnorm (and everyone else who's commented) sadly, yes, I do take notes and draft my longer messages in Excel. Such a Girl Guide! My memory is shot to pieces these days so I type as I read. Also, I do 60+wpm touch typing so I tend to be a bit wordy in writing anyway as it's easy to churn out. Yes, I actually have developed the most incredible photographic memory since falling pregnant. Xmas Wink

OOooooh. A break in South Africa. Lovely! And DS is 2 on Friday? Happy bday mini-ffnorm!

I am feeling lovely and relaxed after a nice long bubble bath, and hoping not to wake at 4.30am as the planes start coming in.

Sweet dreams everyone.

FF xx

itchyfootedlady · 21/12/2011 23:17

I just made a quilt :) feeling quite excited by it all. There is mums present finally done! Never made one before and finished it in a day - ignored the quitting bible and went freestyle. Am now dreaming of leaving work to become a quilt designer.

kayzr just say no to suds!

Fireflies love your posts :)

AwayinaKayzr · 22/12/2011 08:58

Morning,

I have a MW appointment this morning so I will mention the bizarre washing up liquid craving.

It's going to be strange seeing the MW as she hasn't seen DS2 since she delivered him and he's now 3!!

Hope you are all well.

Dalrymps · 22/12/2011 09:56

Morning allSmile

Away poor you craving washing up liquid, yuk!

Well Christmas is almost here and I'm feeling excited although still got 101 things do do before travelling south on sat.

Dyed my hair bright red for Christmas last night, it's very red Shock

SSC your hair sounds lovelySmile

Good luck to all those having scans over the Xmas periodSmile

1000 your posts are truly impressiveGrin No need to feel sorry for me being so sick I lost weight cause although I felt awful I was only actually sock twice Hmm The weight loss must be from going off chocolate and not drinking beer I thinkGrin

How is everyone today?

Dalrymps · 22/12/2011 09:56

Sock?!Grin
