Welcome Princessesmummy :) Must've been a nice surprise to find out you were further along. Congratulations!

Just wanted to wish you all the best with scans/mw's this week and to enjoy the holidays those starting them now. That'll be you PinkPepper and Daly (that I can remember off the top of my head) :)

Catch you all up in the week.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 19/12/2011 07:10

Morning all!

emblosion - yep, put the pink through my hair yesterday. Left it in for about 6 hours. It's not very bright (it's called Cupcake Pink) but I need to use up this one before I buy something with a bit more oomph! Also have some purple I need to get through. This dye glows under UV (not that I'm under UV very often) but also looks quite 'glowy' under fluorescents so sometimes looks a bit odd at work! Haven't seen my natural hair colour in about 15 years. Between that, the tattoos and piercings it's a wonder my dad's still talking to me (he was expecting a very 'normal' daughter I think, and got me instead - but he's adapted over the years!).

So, busy at work this week (only four days for me though since I've got Friday as holiday) with a few people being off sick so my poor managers having to pick up a bit more stuff than planned. I'm so lucky to have a team that really do pull together when they need to - just hope I can support them enough through the week and everyone retains their sanity! Ah well, tins of Quality Street will help give them energy if nothing else!

Hope everyone here has a good week and is starting to enjoy that festive feeling!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 19/12/2011 07:11

Forgot to say - welcome Princessesmummy!

Florin · 19/12/2011 07:25

Morning everyone happy last week at work before Christmas!
Welcome princessesmummy
Anybody started buying maternity clothes? I bought a few bits off eBay over the weekend and did so well got lots of things so cheaply. Can't wait for them all to arrive now!

AwayinaKayzr · 19/12/2011 08:07

Morning,

Florin I am in mainly maternity tops now. I can still fit into normal jeans but normal tops aren't long enough.

Princessesmummy Welcome to the June thread. I would have loved to have been 2 weeks forward. Xmas Grin

Cheddar Your hair sounds really nice. I need to dye mine soon. I am usually purple but do it all myself.

Good luck for all scans this week and MW appointments. I am going on Thursday to see mine.

10000fireflies · 19/12/2011 08:22

Morning everyone! Good luck to those having scans this week - Emblosion and Dalry and anyone else.

Oooo, a June Bus wedding! Emblosion what date are you getting married? All the best people get married in April. Xmas Grin We married in April 2002, so our 10th anniversary is coming up. We are postponing plans for a party as we'll be having another ceilidh, and they are no fun when you're 7.5 months preggers!! We're also postponing our anniversary trip to Amsterdam (we married there) as I don't think you can fly that late on.

Welcome Princessesmummy

I ordered some maternity clothes over the weekend. Next has a few items on sale, so I cracked and ordered two tops and a dress. Waiting for the legendary 26/12 reductions though - their maternity wear is really nice so hoping to get a load half price, as they seem to have good stock levels at the moment in all the stuff I want.

Have a good week! Don't stress too much getting prepped for Christmas.

F
xx

AwayinaKayzr · 19/12/2011 08:27

Emblosion How are the wedding plans going? I get married in under 2 months now. I am terrified Xmas Grin Especially with DP's job, he is meant to be here for the wedding but unfortunately anything can happen. Eeeek

Kveta · 19/12/2011 09:40

hi everyone, good luck witht he scan today pinkpepper!

also, exciting about the weddings! We planned ours after DS was born, and it was so tiring, planning an overseas wedding, with a non-sleeping baby in tow! It was good fun though, and I'm glad we did it.

not much new here, I've got yet another cold, with the inevitable chest infection starting. DH has the cold too, so is being uber-feeble, but I'm pandering to him as I know he'll feel better soon and I won't, so I can then expect some pandering in return Xmas Grin

I've also got a permanent nasty taste in my mouth, which is apparently really common in pregnancy, and is linked to acid levels in the saliva. It's grim though, as I constantly think something has died in my mouth, and no matter how often I brush my teeth and gargle mouth wash, it's still there. Only 24 or so weeks to go of this though

Baby has definitely started kicking already, I'm getting the odd tap to let me know he or she is in there! It kicked the other day whilst I was bathing DS and I went 'ooh, baby just kicked!' and DS said 'no kicking mummy baby!' which is rich coming from him. He keeps patting my tummy then trying to jump on it, so I'm looking forward to seeing him with his sibling Xmas Hmm

Warlin · 19/12/2011 10:25

Morning all

Welcome princessesmummy.

Exciting for all the weddings...hats of to those juggling pregnancy and wedding plans. I was so stressed out planning my wedding, although I suppose it probaby takes the mind of the sickness etc....

I got my hair coloured on Sat too. I get it doen every 6 weeks but I'm just a brunette...not like all the pinks and purples on here!! Was wondering though whether the strong hair dye smell can be a good thing...they do say it's safe and I couldn't cope without dying my hair for 9 months...aw well.....fingers crossed it's fine!

we went to see a house on Sat. I'm really keen to move closer to my parents for when the baby's born. DH and I both have houses (mine is let and we live in his). Trying to convince him to let his and we can rent somewhere new together (no chance to getting another mortgage and saving a big deposit these days!). Anyway we found one right on the beach and surprisingly DH loved it...so finegrs crossed we get it and get out own let! Love the thought of long walks on the beach with a pram!

I've tried some maternity clothes but all still feel too big. Although my trousers wouldn't button this morning and am relying more on the belly bands so reckon I'l hit the next sales too. I have bought maternity jeans from gap but haven't worn them yet. My skinny jeans are fine as they are low cut but need a long top to avoid the muffin top look!

I'm working all week and so jealous of those off already Envy. I' so tired!

Is anyone else getting headaches or heartburn? And abdominal twinges?

kveta so exciting that you feel kicks! I would love that! How many weeks are you?

Hi to everyone else...hope your Monday's aren't too bad!

Dalrymps · 19/12/2011 10:43

Morning ladiesSmile

Well, been to see midwife for my 16 week check and all is fine. Yes there is still a baby there and I haven't imagined itGrin

20 week scan booked for 18th Jan eeek!

I'm have a headache and feel tiredSad stayed up till 2am doing my OU assignment. Hoping or a sneaky afternoon nap yaaawn.

How is everyone today?

Kveta · 19/12/2011 10:56

Warlin I'm 16 weeks tomorrow, and this is DC2, so don't worry about not feeling kicks yet! It's totally normal not to feel them until 18-21 weeks with DC1 Xmas Smile I think I felt them at about 19 weeks with DS, but that was because the sonographer told me where his feet were and I had thought it was just very localised gas, but no! DH felt the first kick at about 21 weeks I think.

I meant to say, I've been in mat jeans a while now. I seem to recall from last time that mat jeans/trousers fit for about 1 week in the whole pregnancy, and the rest of the time they are either falling down because they are too big or falling down because they won't go over the enormo-bump you end up sporting. I'm buying another pair from next after christmas though, as currently just have the 1 pair from WalMart and I'm not sure how many more washes they'll stay together for!

Dalrymps my 20 week scan is Friday 13th of Jan, eek! I'll be 19+3, so hope they can see everything through the massive post-xmas tummy flab Xmas Blush

Dalrymps · 19/12/2011 11:11

Kveta eek indeed! Not long at all till your scan!!

Lol at the Xmas flab.. Speaking of weight, the midwife weighed me today and said I'd actually lost a little weight since my booking in Confused I don't usually gain a lot in pregnancy but I didn't expect to have lost. I have felt really sick for weeks and so had a small appetite although have hardly vomited. Looks like I'm gonna have to fatten myself up over Xmas!Grin

Kveta · 19/12/2011 11:14

Dalrymps I lost a stone last time I was so sick! this time I've only lost a kilo in the 1st trimester, grr! I thought there would be at least 1 compensation for the god-awful morning sickness, but it turns out that with a toddler to cater for, I've actually been keeping some food down this time round!

well done for losing weight though, that's definitely licence to eat lots of mince pies over the next 2 weeks!!

we got a load of czech food at the weekend (DH being Czech) so have been gorging ourselves on Vanocka, which is a special christmas bread, and it feels so much like Christmas now! can't wait for thursday when I can start cooking!

Warlin · 19/12/2011 13:46

How has everyone lost weight??? I've put on more than 3kg! To be fair I haven't been sick at all and was starving for the first few weeks but still, hope it steadies. I'm normally just under 10 stone so 3 kg is quite a lot.

kveta thanks for the advice on the mat clothes...maybe I should just start wearing rather than waiting for them to fit! I just feel like no clothes fit at the moment......am most comfy in my pjs but obviously can't wear them all the time!

Have told DH to buy me a pregnancy yoga dvd for Chrimbo...and need to get back to the gym in the NY or I'm going to be massive!

Have no motivation in work today...roll on xmas!

HorseyGirl1 · 19/12/2011 13:56

Emm, I've been in maternity jeans since end of October - honest! 16 week check up tomorrow - hope all OK as first check up since stitch 2-3 weeks ago. xx

PinkPepper · 19/12/2011 13:56

well I had my scan and saw baby and that bit was all good :D it wasn't in position to do downs screening so having blood test at 16 weeks but not too worried. Feel so much better now :o :o

I'm now due 1st of july though so you can kick me out if you wish Blush

Florin · 19/12/2011 14:10

kayzr can't believe you are still in your jeans-very impressed! I stupidly bought a new pair a week before my bfp and bought them a bit tight as they always loosen up. They only fitted for a very short time. Really need to get maternity jeans but a bit baffled by the different styles not sure what to choose!
Well done to all that have lost weight, I was on a strict diet before I for was pregnant and now I know I have to eat normally I have used it as an excuse to eat a few to many chocolates etc so today starting to be sensible. Trying to snack on more fruit. Hard this time of year as always lots of cakes etc at work.
I am definitely planning on hitting the January sales with my mum after Christmas to get a few extra maternity bits. So far got 3 quarter length white trousers (for my holiday to caribbean) a casual dress, casual top and smart dress as have 2 weddings to go to.
My 20 week scan is not until 20 Feb which seems so long away but partly my fault as is a little delayed because of my holiday.

Kveta · 19/12/2011 14:24

Warlin I am a collossal lard arse, so not eating much for nearly 12 weeks has helped me not gain weight! If I was a sensible weight to start with, it may be a different matter, but I am encouraged not to gain anything over the pg.

wrt mat trousers, if you can find a shop near you that sells them, try on every style they have! I HATED over the bump trews last time, but had a pair as back up, and this time really like then, and refuse to try my under bump pairs! I have 2 mat tops and 1 pair of jeans so far, but will get some over the bump Next ones soon. regarding tops, I find that long supermarket tops are just as good, if not better than, proper mat tops, however, as I tend to wear them normally, will need to get some proper maternity ones this times so I don't end up wearing my regular clothes and stretching them like I did last time! I was gutted post-birth that most of my fave tops were stretched too much to be worn normally!!

Pink stick with us if you want, but be warned that you may be the last to pop and (speaking from bitter experience) will be all hormonal and weepy as we all have our babies and you're still waiting! I was a MESS last time when all my fellow september mums had their babies before me! (admittedly I was due on the 20th and DS waited until the 26th to put in an appearance, but still!!). You are very welcome to stick around though!! Xmas Smile

PinkPepper · 19/12/2011 15:27

Kveta I'll be honest, just waiting for my scan was hard enough at times. you are all lovely lovely people but I have popped my head into the July group. Selfish as it is, I'd rather be one of the first and in the right group postnataly, than one of the last if that makes sense, and for some reason I have already convinced myself the little one will be late anyway (me and dp arn't exactly the most punctual of people) Thank you all for having me though

ChateauMargot · 19/12/2011 15:45

Just catching up now, in haste, as am at parents' - but wanted to thank 10000fireflies forasking about the fainting. I've had a couple of other less extreme episodes since then - more like hypoglycemic attacks, with hot flushes and slight weakness/dizziness. Fresh air and a gulp of water seems to help, but I'm going to ask the MW at my 16 week appointment in Jan...

Happy Christmas, all!

itchyfootedlady · 19/12/2011 16:08

i had my scan this morning and grinned from ear to ear for a full 2 hours after... then had a massive energy crash and now just want a nap after all the excitement :) I am now 13 weeks. yay! Baby was sat cross legged till she poked it then did a massive stretch and showed us little arms and legs with adorable big feet. So lovely! Also did nuchal thing and looked ok apparently. Need to wait for blood tests but seems ok.

Warlin i lost about 3kg until 11 weeks, and somehow seem to have put in 4kg in the last 2 weeks? No idea how that sums up but stopping vomiting seems to have helped. Also I now have a definitie belly issue. Stil in all normal clothes as my jeans are quite low so it all just sits above but think i may need to go shopping in the new year! I looked in Gap but i was so baffled by the sizing that I left and vowed never to go back. Hope your house works out. beach walks with a baby - sounds awesome.

We spent Saturday with friends who have a 3 month baby. Bless him he is gorgeous and I am super broody now, but I think it was a shock for DH when he woke up twice in the night and kept crying. DH just whispered, "he seems quite inconsolable - do they all cry that much?" I crossed my fingers and said no... no point worrying him till it happens :)

Kveta good tip on stretching all my favourite tops... I am tempted to keep pushing it with them but I'll be sad to have no clothes next winter without a belly in them. Jealous of the Vanocka - have finally gone back on sweet stuff after 2 months off it and really fancy something like that!

Pink stay stay!! I am due on the 26th and am generally late in life so you can stick around being weepy and impatient with me :)

Dalrymps - glad its not just me who's first question at every appoitnment is "is it still there"??

DH is taking me home to 'work from home' soon as apparently I look pale and he is being a lovely overprotective dad type after seeing the scan. I'm hoping this means a nap, some hot chocolate and getting to watch the strictly we downloaded from iplayer while he cooks tea? Note to self - do not take advantage of his lovely nature.... too much.

hope everyone is feeling glowing and cheery and a bit more confident that the babies are well stuck in and may actually arrive and everything. I know I am!

Miniangel · 19/12/2011 17:48

Hi Everyone

Sorry haven't been posting as have not been well. Haven't been to work all last week and couldn't make it today too.

Fireflies Thanks for the wishes. Your post was lovely as it mentioned so many pple.

I bought a few maternity clothes already and religously wear them- especially my red herring jeans from debenhams. Waiting for the sales to buy a few more.

callmemamma · 19/12/2011 18:31

Hello everyone!
Pink and itchy congrats on your scans :)
kveta you made me laugh with your description how useful mat jeans are :) I totally agree that's why I dug my old ones out that look absolutely like new and never worn.I am glad glad yhey fit and will start wearing them now as they not gonna last for long...

AwayinaKayzr · 19/12/2011 19:45

Evening,

Pink and Itchy congratulations on your scans.
Miniangel I hope you are feeling better soon.

We are having a dilemma here. Due to DPs new job there is more chance of him being away for the wedding as there is of him being here. So we are going to postpone it until after the baby is born. I am fine with it, bit sad but it isn't the end of the world.

Now have the annoying task of letting everyone know and got to hope that the place we have booked for the reception will let us change the date.

It's all a bit of a faf really but DP can't turn this job down as it is an extra £1100 a month which would make life so amazing for us.

thedogwalker · 19/12/2011 19:55

Welcome PrincessMummy. Kveta, oh yes the odd taste in the mouth, I keep getting the metalic taste and its awful, didn't have that with DS. I am getting alot of firsts with this pg, DS pg was sp much easier. PinkPepepper Glad your scan went well, hope you stay on the June bus, you know you want to.
Don't know how any of you are losing weight, I just eat everything that is not nailed down. My size 10s no longer fit and I'm now in 12s, don't think it will be long before I get my maternity clothes out (was only pg 16 months ago, so yes I am going to reuse some of my maternity clothes).
Hope everyone is well, take care xx
