So happy for all the scan news today. Wonderful to hear lots of happy stories.

I am having the vivid dreams, but I am sleeping through, thankfully, not sure I could function at work if I wasn't sleeping. I am a sleepaholic and I would be so grumpy without it.
Just been scanning the baby scan pictures on the my PC so that I can upload them on to a letter to my DH. He can't wait to see our little ray of sunshine and he can't help working away for over 6 months, the job sends him and he cannot refuse, sadly.
Anyway the scan pictures will do no doubt cheer him up
Hope everyone is having a good day, take care all xxx

Florin · 13/12/2011 18:50

calleemama congratulations on your scan
dogwalker I am sure your dh is going to be super excited to receive that letter. I know my dh just adores the scan pictures.
Hope everyone is feeling better. Found myself cleaning the kitchen without even thinking when I get in from work dh commented on how much better I seemed to be within the last week. I still have the background sickness but feel better in myself and enjoying being able to get on with things and at least the house is not such a tip as it was during my first trimester!

AwayinaKayzr · 13/12/2011 20:47

TDW I can't imagine how hard it is for you. My DP goes away to work but not for that long. He's just been offered a new job that means he'll be away for 8 weeks at a time.

I have got ridiculously sore boobs. They are killing me despite wearing sleep bras at night. Owwww

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 14/12/2011 07:04

Morning all!

Congrats on the scans folks!

Head cold still going strong here - woke pretty much every hour last night to snuffle; think I need to buy more tissues today! I've got to do year end reviews for four of my team managers today - hope I can stay awake and retain an 'I'm honestly interested and really care' facial expression rather than the 'crap, why can't you just leave me alone so I can go to sleep' one I have at the moment Grin

DH has tomorrow off work so will go over to see MIL again and see how she's doing - still on CCU at the moment I think but unless something changes I'm sure she'll be shifted to a general ward soon.

Have a good day folks!

Rrrrayray · 14/12/2011 08:17

Hi all

Thread had dropped off my I'm on ones so I guess I haven't posted in a bit.

Congrats on all the brilliant scan news. Especially you dogwalker, what a letter to receive for your DH.

Florin - id agree my sickness finally in the background only rearing ugly head occasionally.

Next few days rammed with DD social activities, Christmas party after Christmas party. Wearing me out!!! Hmm

Sleep ok here. And if wake in night at all a few drops of rescue remedy night and I'm to sleep again easily.

thedogwalker · 14/12/2011 09:21

Good morning all, hope we can all have a good day today, no sickness, no tiredness and complete altertness, who am I kidding on the latter Xmas Grin. Are there any more scans this week or are we at the end??? If there are some still out there to be done, sending you lots of good luck vibes, take care all xx

Warlin · 14/12/2011 09:43

Morning all

Still feeling rough here. Really bad heartburn and headaches every night and exhausted. Working from home this morning thankfully as looking after my puppy who is feeling very sorry for herself after being spayed...poor wee pet.

dogwalker that's such a lovely thing to do for your DH...what a christmas present for him! How long until he's home? You should send some pics of your bump. My DH wants to buy a video camera to capture my growing bump but I've told him to wait until I start "glowing". He might be waiting a while :o

kayzr hope the boobs get better soon. mine are much better now.

I have started using bio oil twice a day now in an attempt to prevent stretch marks...worth a try!!

Got my nuchal scan tonight and a bit apprehensive...really hope it's ok. Got that horrible anxious yet excited feeling!

Hi to everyone else

PinkPepper · 14/12/2011 11:13

dogwalker I've still got my scan, next Monday. Luckily first thing at 9am. Seems so long away even still but I've got lots to keep me busy from now till then.

I'm sure I'm starting to get a bump. Just looks like I've eaten loads, but I havnt. I seem to have got more 'round' if that makes any sense. I've got my Christmas work party tomorrow and I think anyone at work who doesn't know will guess or the people that do know might accidently say something. I'm normally first one up to the bar though Blush

thedogwalker · 14/12/2011 13:04

Warlin when I was pg with DS, I used bio oil twice a day and I didn't get any stretch marks. I'm doing the same this time and I hope I get the same results. Fingers x for the both of us. My DH is not home until May Sad, but I write to him everyday and he phones as often as he can.
Pink, Monday will come round soon enough, will keep thinking of you and will await your update on Monday.

Hope everyone is well.

Warlin · 14/12/2011 14:13

dogwalker fingers crossed for both of us! It's worth a try and I know serveral people who have said it works.

pink Monday will fly in and will be nice to see lo before Christmas. We are going tonight and I'm excited but apprehensive.

Can't remember who it was that was having some bleeding and was offered a scan after Christmas. Hope you manage to get a scan sooner and are ok....? Bit worried I haven't heard.

I have a bump too. I love that it is starting to get noticeable and nice that people in work were guessing....better than just feeling fat which I have done up until now...bring it on I say!

Apparently from week 15 the baby can hear.....how bizarre is that!!

Kveta · 14/12/2011 14:30

I'm 15+1 today, so baby can hear, wow! it's amazing how fast they develop, isn't it? 1 month until my anomaly scan yesterday, so that's a new thing to worry about!

I used bio-oil in last pg, and um, my tummy is a mess. also we did the whole perineal massage thing (which I'm still a bit yuck about!) and again, not the most effective technique ever. not bothering with either this time, I think! the stretch marks were a particular nuisance as they appeared as if by magic at about 39 weeks, then by 40+6, when he was born, it looked like a madman had been scribbling on my enormous bump.

I have a definite bump now, but think much of it is food-related. I am struggling to sleep on my front, but managing it with a zillion strategically placed pillows. when I sleep at all, that is, grr.

I am so so tired today, and cannot wait for the weekend, and then next week, as DH is off all week, so will be cooking dinner on the days I'm at work. Need to break this news to him soon Xmas Grin

good luck with the nuchal today Warlin, how exciting to see your baby again! and the dogwalker, I am in awe - you sound so together! I'd be a wreck without DH, he's working late all this week, and by the time he gets in, I am slumped on the sofa moaning gently after a day of work then the fun of getting DS to bed!

had DS's christmas show at nursery yesterday and it was total chaos, with toddlers galloping about the place, and little actual singing going on! DS wasn't too awful for once, and was so excited when the close-approximation to santa appeared that he was jumping up and down going 'santa!' god knows how he even knows who santa is, last time he'd have seen him was last year! odd boy.

anyone else still being sick btw? I didn't keep down my breakfast or lunch yesterday, so am still feeling quite rough from that today. roll on the glowing!

Dalrymps · 15/12/2011 00:11

Hey ladiesSmile

Fab news on all those who have had good scans Grin

I'm 15 weeks today (close to you kveta!)
Apparently our babies are growing hair on their heads and can suck their thumb if they like now.

My sickness has almost completely gone (thank god) I hope this gives some of you still suffering hopeSmile

Desperately trying to finish my OU biology assignment to be handed in next weeks So I can relax and enjoy Xmas. We're spending it at my bros in Peterborough wig my other bro and both sils and our lovely neiceSmile can't wait!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 15/12/2011 07:00

Morning all!

Sorry I can't remember who said what (even though I just read it!) - my brain is on work to rule at the moment so if it's not a function that's required for immediate survival it doesn't bother with it so short term memory is not faring well!

Headcold still going strong here, but slept a bit better last night so feeling relatively with it today. Looking forward to the weekend - seems a long way off though!

Well, DH called his sister last night for an update on MIL. She's still in CCU and SIL was heading off to visit so said she'd call later with more info. She must have called after DH came to bed as he's woken up to a voicemail - no real update on MIL but apparently BIL ended up in A & E last night! He had a fall of some sort. No idea if it's serious or not, or if he's still there. You couldn't make this stuff up Grin. DH has the day of work to visit MIL anyway so will get extra value from the parking ticket if BIL is still in as well. Good grief.

Quite looking forward to work today - finished all the year end reviews I needed to do yesterday so can wind up my colleagues with the fact they still have some to do Wink. Happy days Grin

Have a fun day people - see you later!

FluffyMitchell · 15/12/2011 07:19

Hi hope everyone's doing ok. I thought I had added a message the other day about not sleeping properly, but due to lack of sleep and resulting fuzzy brain/tiredness, I somehow deleted the message!
Had another rubbish night's sleep and have been feeling a bit stressed at work - just a busy time generally. So am booking myself in for a hot stone massage asap - think it should help with insomnia and stress but I'll need to check if it's ok when pregnant (I should think it's quite safe). Anyway, glad this is my last day of the week (don't work Fridays).
Bye for now

thedogwalker · 15/12/2011 08:42

Morning all, hope everyone has had a good night's rest and for those struggling with sleep, I'm sending you lots of rest and relax vibes Xmas Smile.
Got the rest of my Christmas presents wrapped last night, so glad, it's hard work doing over 40 presents, I have a large family, and I can never do them all in one sitting. Well just another 5 days at work for me (including today) and then off to my Mum's for Christmas, can't wait for the break.
Dalrymps my LO was sucking his/her thumb on the scan on Monday, which made me laugh as my DS sucks his thumb. The midwives in Germany put the fear of God into me about introducing dummys when breast feeding, talking about nipple confusion and that my DS would never go back to the boob, so he nver got a dummy and now he sucks his thumb Angry, at least I could have thrown dummy away. Will know this time around and not let midwives make me fearful of anything again. Sorry little rant over.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx

Warlin · 15/12/2011 09:53

Morning ladies

Had a fab scan last night. We weren't able to do the nucal test as the baby was lying upside down and the doctor couldn't measure it. He's happy that it looks ok though so finegrs crossed. But we got to see so much detail on the lo! we could see every bone in its legs, feet and arms. It's funny as the legs look really long and the feet massive...made it feel very real though and was lovely to see it moving around and being so active. It has grown lots even in the last 2 weeks.

I have another scan at 18 weeks (in 4 weeks) and he said by then we would be able to see the genitals if we want (which I do and DH doesn't!!) and should be able to feel it moving around.

It's just so nice to know that all seems ok......we will all breath a sigh of relief when the 20 week one has been done!

I'm still buzzing from last night but worried about my wee puppy as she's still struggling after her op and looking really pathetic. Hope she feels better soon.

Hi to everyone. Seriously hope your MIL is ok.

I just really wish it was this time next week and nearly Christmas. Still seems so far away and I'm absolutely dying for a break from work.

Miniangel · 15/12/2011 11:03

Hi Everyone

Love the scan stories. Keep em coming. Congrats on your scan Warlin and callmemamma. All the best pink
SeriouslySC Hope your MIL and BIL are better.
Warlin Hope your dog feels better soon.
Florin and Darly You are giving me hope that this sickness may pass soon. I will have completed 14 weeks tomorrow.
Dogwalker what a lovely letter. I am sure your DH will love it. You are one tough lady, I don't know whether I would have survived without DH.

I have got UTI again so am back on antibiotics. This is third episode in pg so far. It sucks as it makes sickness worse and meant that I have not been to work for the last few days. Hate taking so much time off, have to appraisals for my team too.

Warlin · 15/12/2011 11:17

Oh mini that's horrible. Hope you feel better soon. Take advantage of being off work....I'd give anything for a duvet day!

I'm 14 weeks tmw too! And that means we'll be 15 by Christmas!

I'm hoping the time starts to fly soon as I feel like I've been pregnant for 9 months already...it just seems to be dragging in!

I have a bump now too which I'm loving. Doctor says my womb is sitting very far forward and thats why but it makes a change from just feeling fat!

Florin · 15/12/2011 13:50

miniangel sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish hope you feel better soon. Morning sickness has been so much better although it's back today hoping it just a one off thing.
Anybody else getting the occasional stretching pains/twinges? They say they are normal but still don't like them.
I am so desperate to find out the sex, think its so I can start buying. Hopefully time will fly by between now and scan as in between got Christmas then away for a week at our holiday home in Cornwall and then 10 days in the Carribean so lots to distract me. Then scan is 2 days after we are back from Carribean trip. Hoping baby is facing right way so we get to see what we are having!

thedogwalker · 15/12/2011 14:38

Oh Mini that doesn't sound good, hope you feel better soon, sending you lots of get wel vibes your way Xmas Smile.

Florin, I too want to know the gender of my LO at the next scan and if she or he isn't playing then I will have to pay for a private one, as I need to know [frgin]. I know some people want the suprise and I understand that, but for DH and me, we like to plan and organise, and for us to be able to do this we want to know the sex. Mind you with DS, he made it quite apparant what he was, showing his willy off for all to see, so sometimes you get to know anyway. I'm just hoping this LO isn't scan shy and shows their bits to the screen Xmas Grin.
Hope everyone is well xx

itchyfootedlady · 15/12/2011 16:00

hey all, been AWOL for weeks with sickness, more sickness and a bit more sickness. I had a lovely week in Egypt on holiday where i slept about 18 hours a day and felt loads better and got my puking down to 1/2 a day... then DH and I got some tummy upset on the last day and i've been a two ended spew monster for weeks and hardly managed to go to work. I am praying that it all ends before christmas though.... bring on the second trimester!!

So glad to see that everyones scans are going well and that some poeple have passed the feeling grotty stage and are actually functioning again. you give me hope! warlin i have scan on Monday and your description of long legs and big feet made me all broody! so excited... and as have had no bleeding since the last scan I am actually hopeful there may be a baby in there still!

I was thinking of trying the bio oil, my mum had 4DC with not a single mark, my sister had 1 and has a tube map across her middle... it could go either way I suppose... but I am willing to do anything to try and help! It is on my xmas wish list along with a long handled body scrubber ready for when i can't reach my feet Xmas Smile so far I have a delightful 'wind and bloating' baby bump, but i have lost about 1/2 stone so look like a potato with sticky arms and legs.

I don't think i'll be able to wait till the birth to find out the sex, I open my xmas presents sneakily on xmas eve and rewrap them because i can't wait. Luckily DH is tolerant of this and said we can find out at the 20 week scan if possible Xmas Smile

Wishing you all lots of christmas cheer and energy and nausea-less days ahead!

Warlin · 15/12/2011 16:20

Hi All

Glad I'm not the only impatient one on this thread! The suspence is killing me and I just know that I won't be able to stand the consultant knowing the sex and me not!! Need to talk DH round...or else just hope we see it anyway. It was so cute looking at its little legs and feet and fat little tummy that I don't want to just focus all other scans on the head!!

florin I am so so jealous of your holiday? Where abouts are you going? We are hoping to get away in March but prob somewhere to close in case anything happens at that stage! You are so lucky and a great time to get away Envy

itchy so glad the bleeding has stopped. You will be over the moon after your scan. I'm still smiling after mine :) A nice chrimbo present. I'm using bio oil too....seems to have mixed results but worth a shot!

10000fireflies · 15/12/2011 19:44

Evening all! Warning, long post, but there's been so much to catch up on here in the past week!!

Emblosion Has your cold improved? How about the sickness? Congrats on the scan and getting booked in.
Cheddar Great news on the scan, and good they were positve about home birth. Also, great that you don't have to choke down those horse pills any more. Not only weird about the girl at your party but also way out of order for her to be telling everyone else. How's your MIL? And is DH ok about it all? How's your cold? You are getting it all a bit full on at the mo what with BIL too! How is he?
Ecstatica Interesting that your DH and MIL have devined that you're having a boy. My DH and Mum have done the same, though based on 'instinct', rather than looking at the scan. I suspect it's a boy also, but who knows?. Waiting for the 20 week scan. Also, thanks for the top tip on avoiding chilli. Xmas Smile
Greengoose Hope you're still feeling good and festive?
Florin How was dinner with friends last Sat? I am envious that you have a) the energy and b) the motivation to tidy up.
TDW Did you find a decent Christmas Market? They're not quite the same here, are they? Congrats on the scan and hope you're ok without DH around. Much respect on getting all those pressies bought and wrapped.
ffnorm Hope you're keeping well and no more bleeding? Not surprised you're more angry in retrospect at your treatment.
chateaumarmont Have you had any more fainting fits? Apparently it can be due to greater levels of progesterone. There were other causes, but can't remember what right now - let me know if you want me to check my book.
AwayinaKayzr Have you planned which tattoo to go for when you can get one? Was DS2's bday good? Fingers xd for a smaller baby this time!! Hope your insomnia passes soon too.
Novmamma Congrats on the scan and I hope the sickness is beginning to fade for you? Sorry about the insomnia too. I've had it a bit, but not too bad.
Dalrymps Congrats on finishing your shopping. I haven't even started. Ooops!!
Ellybetts Did you get some good advice from MW on constipation? I found eating lots of activia yoghurt (though avoiding the ones which contain Aspartamane, which is supposed to be bad for baby) helped, as did getting a good wholemeal loaf of bread, plus I splashed out on lots of lovely fruit and made myself huge bowlfuls of luxury fruit salads - lots of mango, kiwi (v high in fibre), blueberries. Looked v pretty and tasted nice. Had lots of apples too. Better than prunes!! What's the MS you mentioned btw?
Warlin Hope your dog is recovering after her op now. Sorry you're feeling rough. Isn't it exciting that baby can hear now? We have to start talking nicely to them now, don't we, and cut down on the bad language around them!! Your scan sounds amazing. Can you ask your consultant to write sex of baby down on a bit of paper so you know and DH doesn't?
CallmeMamma Glad your scan was ok in the end even though it was tricky to do.
Kveta Have you been managing to get more sleep? Sorry the nausea isn't passing. Your LO sounds so cute in the nativity. Hope you video'd it.
KatyJ26 Well done on the party for 16. Admire any one who does anything remotely energetic at the moment. How's your little star?
Mini Sorry to hear about the UTI. Hope you're better soon.
Florin I get the weird stretching feelings too from time to time but try not to stress about them. Wow, holiday in Cornwall, and then Carribean. Sounds lovely!
Itchy So sorry you've been so poorly. Hope you're on the road to recovery soon. Oh, you are naughty, unwrapping your pressie like that! I'm even worse though as I often do the same, but don't tell anyone!!

Someone mentioned yoga? I keep meaning to do the back strengthening and pelvic floor exercises which NHS recommend but have got lots of good reasons for not starting. Had my first out of the blue 'are you preggers' question, but she's cool and I don't think will mention to anyone else. She said it was my belly that gave it away. And there I was thinking it was me giving my itchy nips a good scratch!! Xmas Grin As for dreams... certainly been having some weird ones.

Had an appt with midwife today. Couldn't work out why we had it then, and nor could she (her colleague booked it!). Still, we got to hear baby's heart beat which was a nice treat. Really amazing to hear. Almost as exciting as scan. So, have 16 week appt still to come. Waiting on combined results too. Should hear Monday.

Hi to everyone else. Nearly the weekend!!

ecstatica · 16/12/2011 08:23

Good Morning Ladies,
10000 Fireflies nice to read a post with a message for everyone :) Lovely to hear baby's h/b I think that's the first on the group -- thanks for reminding me that I have m/w appt!!! Think it's the 27th...had totally forgotten. x

Hoping that everyone is looking forward to the holidays with all preparations nicely underway. Nothing to report here other than the sickness getting worse and not better. Also trying to not drink so much in the evenings but still visiting the bathroom at least x3 overnight Xmas Hmm.
My friend has told me it gets worse the more that you have! Nooooooo....

Have a good weekend :)

thedogwalker · 16/12/2011 08:43

Good morning all, wow Fireflies, that was a lovely post from you, must have taken you ages. Nice to hear from you again. I've got a MW appt next wednesday, in my area they do it at 15 weeks, I find it quite amazing that the NHS differs from area to area Xmas Hmm.
I'm shattered today, I slept fine, just feel sooo tired, already finding it hard to keep my eyes open at work and it's not even 9 o'clock, oops, it's going to be a long day.
Hope everyone is well, take care xx
