hawthers, there's always sugar or honey for the tea. (There: let that taboo be broken - fruit tea can take a bit of sweetening!)

hawthers · 24/11/2011 14:56

Actually think I was too quick to judge - its not that bad (but I am eating a bar of chocolate at the same time...)

Ds finally having a nap having been alternately having tantrums and being clingy all morning. Think it is related to

hawthers · 24/11/2011 14:59

Gah blinking phone. Related to me coming back from work late yesterday but as that was my last day of work hopefully we'll have an easier time tomorrow - please?

No signs of anything starting over here but another 4 weeks until the due date. Very exciting checking up on you guys to see who'll be next!

lalababy · 24/11/2011 15:02

Surely someone else is gonna pop this weekend!!!

cheeptrick · 24/11/2011 15:10

Hi

I'm having contractions every 20 mins they are managble right now so not that painfully. Son in nursary, DH in work so i have some time to myself before labour gets going big time.
If they get worse or every 15 mins i have to call DH but i'm hoping i can hold off for a bit. Contractions started at 12pm.

I went to meeting most of the points can be crossed off but it looks like they will be staying involved until end of January. The main points were cleaning my kitchen to be done on weekend and house cleaned by cleaner on Monday. Taking my son to spech therapy with i do anyway. And they are worried i will have PND with this baby but i just dont think i will. So i'm hoping the this will be the last time i will have to deal with them.

And Breastfeeding and co-sleeping was raised as an issue and SW said was an issues for people who were involved in the past and has now stoped bf and is sleeping in his own room anyway Shock

The stupid thing is that we dont smoke, drink or do drug, we do not hit, neglegate or abuse our son. My DH works 8-4 and i stay at home and look after my son. I have been on meds for depression which work for over a year the MHN has told them i am stable but SW and FSW are still involved Confused

Hiya ladies again! Just popping in again with some questions if anyone can help?

I read the thread every day, so much going on, too much to comment on individualy, but pleased for the most part that everyone is doing mainly okay, give or take the pains/discomfort/annoying other people :) and all babies are fine.

However congrats to seven and hopefully more to come soon :)

I have just came back from my 38 week midwife appointment (i am due 04/12 so 38 +4) and while midwife said heart beat fine, measuring 39 cm, my blood pressure is raised - 140/88 (was 110/60 at 36 week appointment) and she thought i sounded breathless. She wants to see me in a weeks time rather than 2.

I suppose i'm asking if anyone has any experience of pre-eclamsisa, and what to look out for, and is my blood pressure high high, or okayish?

I now feel like i have a headache, but I suspect thats just because I know my bp is higher than normal!

msbuggywinkle · 24/11/2011 15:23

cheep you are very productive today! Sorting out social workers and having contractions! Grin

mopsytop · 24/11/2011 15:24

hi everyone, headache receding yay! itsy have been in a few times to be monitored. My bp is also usually more like yours (low 60s) but recently has been 140/90 and 135/95 even, which is obviously not good. But all seems well, so don't worry too much, I think some women are just prone to higher bp in late pregnancy. It usually has to be 90 for the lower figure for it to begin to be worrying as far as I can tell. I went down to 120/85 yesterday and they were happy. I have to go in to be checked again next week though, after spending the day being monitored yesterday. So it's good that she is keeping an eye. Things to look out for are a frontal headache that paracetamol won't shift, sparks/stars in front of your eyes or weird vision. If there was no protein in your urine, then that's good (the first time I was sent in I had 140/95 and protein in my urine and a swollen leg and a headache and it still turned out to be fine - a lot of the symptoms can just be regular pregnancy stuff). So I'd say is the main thing is not to panic BUT if you get any of the symptoms ring your midwife and ask for advice. They will want you to ring. You won't be putting them out. And it's always better to check. It's a pain to have to go spend hours being monitored, but it's always better safe than sorry. That's my take on it. If anything changes for me I will be ringing up straight away!!!

aethelfleda · 24/11/2011 15:28

darcies: love the bump pic! You do look ready to go... I on the other hand am feeling ungainly but have a sinking suspicion I will
be still on this thread til New Year! Did you go over or early with DD?

I swaddled with a plain cot sheet last time, worked perfectly til baby was six weeks and had stopped smacking herself in the face every 5 minutes, and then we switched to 0-6 month grobags (which are fab BTW as they can't wriggle under them, you only need 2 or 3.) this time a friend has given me an easy-swaddle-thing and I have no idea how to work it!!

Last proper long work day tomorrow-
Yay!!

cheeptrick · 24/11/2011 15:33

Grin I think i was really good and stuck up for myself and my family while being civil and polite. I hope they relise that i'm ok, that i see the main issues and that i am working on changing them but that i want them to do their job right.

It was strange having the HV time contrations.

I'm using the contration counter that you linked to, thanks Smile

Itsy - i dont know much about bp so i can't really help but hopefully it was just a one off and it will go back down. Ithink with Pre-eclamsisa swelling and itching of hands and feet as well as high bp is involved. But at least your MW knows and they are keeping a good check on it.

mopsytop · 24/11/2011 15:37

Oh yes itsy if your face or hands swell, give them a ring also.

plupervert · 24/11/2011 15:37

Well done, cheep trick; that's some good news! However, if you still want to score points, you could note that you were having contractions during the meeting, it was arranged at short notice, and not everyone was there.

Anyway, good luck with the contractions!

mopsytop · 24/11/2011 15:38

And if you get any of the symptoms, ring sooner rather than later. They assured me they would FAR rather I rang and it was nothing than I didn't ring.

itsybitsy08 · 24/11/2011 15:54

thankyou mopsy and cheep :)

that made alot of sense mopsy, nice calm view, its easy to start worrying isnt it! will keep an eye out if anything seems odd and will defo phone up - best to be safe than sorry. glad you are well after your monitering.

fingers crossed for you cheep, sounds promising (on all aspects - the meeting and contractions!)

mopsytop · 24/11/2011 15:57

Yep, I have turned into a hypochondriac!! But it's best just to be aware and ring if anything changes, and that way you don't need to worry. They see you immediately if there is anything they think they need to check. And they always err on the side of caution. So you've no need to worry!

KateM77 · 24/11/2011 15:57

Slept a bit better last night 10-4.30 so not too bad. Have had a busy day out and about with DD, so just about managed to catch up with the thread, although skimming a bit!

Cheep hope all goes well for you from here Grin

Bee I'm Shock at your DH

mopsytop · 24/11/2011 15:57

Good luck cheep!

PullyWoolOver · 24/11/2011 16:16

Phew, sorry about huge post, been saving that one up all day. Right an off to read Grazia and eat some chocolate, mwah!

hawthers · 24/11/2011 16:52

Right darcies has inspired me and I've popped a rubbish bump picture on my profile. Not as good looking and the one I did with.my top up a bit was just frightening!

OiMissus · 24/11/2011 17:04

Thanks for the mwah. :)

Just back from antenatal dr. They didn't bother with a scan. He said, we know the baby is big, so no point having another look. Bp and urine etc fine, still measuring 42cm (39 wks tomorrow). Head still not engaged. He said they'd wait til I went into labour, then after 8 hrs if there's no progress and they think the baby is too big, they'll do an emergency cs. (yeah thanks!! After 8 hrs of sweat and pain!) otherwise I have an appt of due date plus 12 days (14.12.11) to be induced.
Itwasn't really the plan I wanted. They won't consider doing a sweep until my due date. Already have a MW appt on that day so hopefully - if the baby's still inside - she'll do it then.
Am booked in for some bedroom action when DH comes home from work. Grin
Still no laptop, so still can't see all your photos yet. Sad
Good luck cheep!!!! hope everything is going well! Your appt sounds like it went quite well too - well done for remaining calm. Smile

Mmmmcheese · 24/11/2011 17:38

cheep how are your contractions doing? Im getting a lot of stabbing pains and a bit achy but not getting my hopes up. Have been nesting like mad though!

jomouse · 24/11/2011 17:43

Go on cheep, hope everything goes well!
Nowt to share here. Just sitting tight and avoiding epi-no session! Clary sage and raspberry leaf tea I am happy with, but stretching my perineum out is taking a back seat right now!
I have finally worked out that avoiding Xmas totally is not an option so did a mass online shop for Xmas cards, wreath and gifts for my Mum today.

Let's have some babies this weekend please! (but not mine)

aethelfleda · 24/11/2011 17:48

oi, you will probably know this already- pretty much every "bring on labour" mechanism isn't that effective (even sweeps) : but gently hand expressing colostrum (aka "nipple stimulation") sometimes gets things going (as does getting it on, but you knew that!)

Hope everyone is doing OK this evening and that we all get a bit of quality sleep (excet cheep who hopefully will be involved in contraction action!)

kri5ty · 24/11/2011 17:57

WOOOHOO LOOSE BOWEL MOVEMENTS HERE LOL sorry girls, got a little excited... bet it will amount to nothing though!

darcies was it just normal reflexology you had, or specifically to bring labour on? I'm booked in tomorrow, but don't think they will do it to induce as I'm only 37 weeks

good luck cheep! :o

Girls... silly I know but to express colostrum ... do you just sort of massage the area?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 24/11/2011 18:02

Cheep How are your contractions going? had a baby yet?

No idea about pre eclampsia tbh but seems you have good advice Smile

Thanks re my bump pic - do not look glamorous!

Had a lovely reflexology session this afternoon, hoping something happens or it's triggered something Smile
