lalababy, there's nothing whatsoever weird about being on all fours. IMagine that our granmothers probably scrubbed their floors in this way. I do my sewing pinning like that, too, and we all have the excellent motivation of Christmas present wrapping, so plenty of opportunities
Redundancy sounds tough at this precise moment.... "Survivor's guilt" can be difficult to deal with, too, so it's a mark of your and his sensitivity that you're already thinking about that aspect of things... 
Homebirth drill sounds excellent! I am drilling myself by telling DS a bedtime story every night about the "Bright Bright hospital" or something related . He was really keen on the "Bright, bright ambulance story", but I am not happy about repeating that one too often, let me tell you all!

I sat on my bum in soft play today, and worked on a Christmas present - this is the life for "mat leave", even with a toddler! Thank goodness all the playdates are over, and now we only have cancellable errands. Sitting feels great!
