OiMissus · 22/11/2011 14:35

Thanks for that info tyel, am definitely going to ask.
Just booked myself a foot/leg massage at 4pm. Smile I'll ask about reflexology whilst there - the girl who does it at the spa (half price on Tuesdays) doesn't work today, otherwise I'd have booked myself on that too - on darcies advice.
So today has been v v v lazy.
Tomorrow I'll be needing labour-inducing advice from y'all. Smile

OiMissus · 22/11/2011 14:38

And aethel - thanks.
Am hoping that with all the concern about the baby being big they'll take pity on me and give me a nudge.

lalababy · 22/11/2011 14:39

Athel what about those of us who were not ready know about the sweep yet!!!

I am at work and in total agony from this rib plus back pain. I desperately want to start crawling on my fours to relieve the pain... Although I think that would be weird!!!

aethelfleda · 22/11/2011 14:44

Sorry lala, I was hoping the first sentence would be warning enough for you to scroll down!!

KateM77 · 22/11/2011 14:48

Well, I'm now almost 9 hours more pregnant than ever before and have made it to my target date Grin. Despite me thinking baby was moving down last week I'm now not at all convinced. It doesn't seem to be in any mood to come out just yet. Have been certain this one would be early too, and panicking slightly about getting everything done in time, now watch me get thoroughly fed-up waiting for this one to make an appearance!

I warned told DH about 3 hour labour on the second pg because he's at least 90 min commute away if it all happens during a workday. He said "oh yes, I suppose I should start carrying my mobile round to meetings with me shouldn't I?" Really hope baby comes on an evening or weekend :)

It's our wedding anniversary today. My sister is staying at the moment so is going to sit for DD whilst DH and I go out for a rare meal just the two of us. Just hope I stay awake - all time low of 1.5 hours sleep last night. Off to try and nap now as DD is having her nap.

Xiaoxiong · 22/11/2011 15:00

lala definitely get down on all fours and do circles with your bum in the air. I find it relieves so much pressure having everything hanging downwards and the circles helped me dislodge a bum in the ribs the other night. Not weird at all!! TBH I get on all fours when I have bad period cramps anyway so it feels quite natural - I think I read it in a teen mag at the orthodontist when I was about 14 and I've done it ever since!

DH came home for lunch and suggested we do a homebirth trial run so that he knows where everything is and that we've got what we need, how funny is that. So we'll be having a homebirth drill after dinner tonight!!

OiMissus · 22/11/2011 15:19

Happy Anniversary Kate!
and tyel -it looks like your OH is addressing his fears, you'll be swinging from the chandeliers again soon, I reckon! Enjoy the drilling! (oo-err missus Grin)

lalababy · 22/11/2011 15:46

heheh... thanks tyel pretended that I dropped smy earing on the floor (acutally in my pocket) and spent the last 15 mins crawling around "looking for it" Grin And sounds like a great idea that OH is making you do your drill :)

oimissus drilling hehehehe

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/11/2011 15:53

Happy Anniversary Kate
Tyel Looks like your DH is getting prepared for the birth.

Had a lovely lunch this afternoon, and got some lovely pressies brought for the baby.
Elephant feet are even bigger today :( babys wriggling around, decided I shouldn't really drive anymore as very uncomfortable.

Xiaoxiong · 22/11/2011 16:21

Oh you lot and your filthy minds Grin I certainly won't be turning down any drilling, no matter what form it takes Wink

Just found out my dad is flying over from DC tomorrow - this may out me but he is something to do with the super committee in Congress, and since they announced failure yesterday (was on the news here this morning) he can leave DC a day early, hurrah!! He hasn't seen me since early August so he might be a bit startled at how big I am...

I am MNing next to a crackling fire and reading a fancy interiors mag with Christmas decoration ideas - just ordered some stuff from cox & cox as they had a 25% off voucher. I figured we were likely to have loads of visitors over Christmas to see the baby so we might as well invest in some pretty decorations.

cheeptrick · 22/11/2011 16:36

Happy Anniversary Kate

Wow baby very active right now. Son went to GP's house and did some baking so we have cupcakes to eat now yum Smile

I had a sleep and a shower now baby kicking me so much!

I'm going out to meadowhell to get son some new shoes and haircut and some food. Hoping the walk will bring labour on Smile

lalababy · 22/11/2011 16:54

Very stressed... some people from DH's team at work just got let go this today including some of his mates. Further cuts during the week... DH is gutted for his mates... and stressed out of his mind for us!

We have put all of our savings into the house... so I really hope he can hold onto his job at the mo... else we will be screwed ... and not in the way that tyel is thinking!!!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/11/2011 17:06

Lala Hope your DH job is safe. fingers crossed for you both.

Tyel LOL! Filthy minds never Grin Wink

Cheep I could prob eat all the cake under the sun right now lol. So Enjoy!

plupervert · 22/11/2011 17:37

Thanks for the reassurance, Earwigwam! Evidently none of us will be sleeping through any niggles, though, eh?

lalababy, there's nothing whatsoever weird about being on all fours. IMagine that our granmothers probably scrubbed their floors in this way. I do my sewing pinning like that, too, and we all have the excellent motivation of Christmas present wrapping, so plenty of opportunities
Redundancy sounds tough at this precise moment.... "Survivor's guilt" can be difficult to deal with, too, so it's a mark of your and his sensitivity that you're already thinking about that aspect of things... Sad

Homebirth drill sounds excellent! I am drilling myself by telling DS a bedtime story every night about the "Bright Bright hospital" or something related . He was really keen on the "Bright, bright ambulance story", but I am not happy about repeating that one too often, let me tell you all!

OiMissus, I've just bought three cartons of cranberry juice!

Happy anniversary, KateM!

Bluebells, have you managed to switch off after the interview process? You seemed a bit stressed about having to think about that and get ready as well. All calm now?

I sat on my bum in soft play today, and worked on a Christmas present - this is the life for "mat leave", even with a toddler! Thank goodness all the playdates are over, and now we only have cancellable errands. Sitting feels great! Grin

sevensevenseven · 22/11/2011 17:49

kate happy anniversary! Congrats for reaching your target date.

Sorry to everyone having pains and being fed up of being pregnant

Have decided to FF for now. After doing really well earlier she was then really sleepy and just not really attempting. At least she's had some colostrum and I'll try expressing when my milk comes in. All going well we may be home tomorrow afternoon. DS was very pleased to meet her, though he did say he preferred his new fire engine she bought him to his baby sister. Gotta love 3yo's for their honesty!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/11/2011 17:56

Plu Good to see you've sat down today and got stuff done.

Seven Is DD taking to a bottle okay? Lets hope you do get home tomorrow and start to get settled. Love kiddies honesty :)

sevensevenseven · 22/11/2011 18:39

Yes thanks darcies. She's taking around 30ml every 3 hours, not bad as she's still less than 24 hours old.

Can anyone advise me on a graze? MW said it was only small but it hurts if I'm sitting too upright and still stings like hell when I pee! I'm currently peeing leaning as far forwards as possible to stop it going on the grazed area. I've got some lavender oil coming to put in a bath later, is there anything else I can do?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/11/2011 18:44

Well done Eva Rose on taking to formula so nicely.

Seven I grazed slightly with DD and remember that feeling but it will pass quite quickly if I remember. TBH what you are doing is all that you can do.

I feel so tired, irritable and v.v. uncomfortable tonight :(

NorthernChinchilla · 22/11/2011 18:57

Mopsy, hope the head is feeling a bit better by now? It's awful when stress gets the better of you, but there's nothing you can do to stop it....and it sounds like you've got a dose of it too lala. Really bad news about your DP's work, sooo unsettling.

I know someone was asking about the anti-clotting injections a little while ago- I've done these as well when I had a suspected DVT (three days before birthday, had to cancel mini-break, hideous) and even though I HATE injections with a passion, I managed to do it. The site ached a bit afterwards, but as the needle is small and going into a soft area, it's really not too bad. Bizarrely I found it helpful to have OH next to me but not paying attention- human comfort blanket but not interfering.

Hope tonight goes OK for you seven and you do make it home tomorrow.

msbuggywinkle · 22/11/2011 19:09

seven glad things are going well and that you'll be home soon! You have to love the older DC reactions, DD1 was very funny too. I second Darcies, it will heal really fast.

We had a lovely afternoon at our friend's house, the DC all jumped on the trampoline for ages so are very tired. My yarn didn't turn up though which is a bit pants.

aethelfleda · 22/11/2011 19:31

seven, get a plastic measuring jug (probably this will be when you get home), Half fill it with slightly warm water, just above body temp, and when you go to pee pour it over your girls parts while peeing. It makes the pee sting a lot less!!!

BluebellsintheSpring · 22/11/2011 19:44

Seven great news on the feeding. With grazing, I have heard that a small jug with warm water to pour over the area while you pee can help as it dilutes the acidity slightly - also drink loads of water as fruit juices etc are quite acidic. Also heard of people peeing in shower first thing in morning with shower head aimed at the area to bring some relief! A friend told me she used to press a wad of cold toilet paper against the graze to help. Whatever you do, don't think that by drinking less you'll make it any easier. Apparently that only makes the pee more concentrated and painful when you do go! Hopefully it will heal v quickly.

Thanks Plu for concern - think triple heart bypass surgery for father-in-law, followed by 3 interviews at 35+ weeks, moving house (36 weeks), then doing a mad final week at work where I worked to midnight most nights to get all sorted for hand overs was hard on both me and dh. All that is behind us now and loving mat. leave - completely chilled and waiting for baby to arrive. Giving myself little projects every day to keep occupied but ready for d day any time now!

Lala that insecurity is really hard to deal with. Really hope all is okay for dh over next week.

plupervert · 22/11/2011 20:26

Blimey, Bluebells, I hadn't realised it was all of those things on top of one another! How is your FIL recovering?

I've also heard a bottle of lavender-oil water (esp. a squirty bottle) is a good thing to have to hand.

Death in Paradise on tonight - time to do some ironing!

jomouse · 22/11/2011 20:43

Ladies helllooooo
I have a quick question, does anyone know if you need to pack your own sieve and mirror if you have a water birth? A friend mentioned it in passing but wasn't joking. She is now in holiday so I can't ask her. Anyone know?

kri5ty · 22/11/2011 20:45

Stupid question, what do you do with the lavender oil, just apply it neat to the area?

I was bought some cooling gel pads and gauze, but I'm confused as surely they will get covered in blood and means I wouldn't be able to use maternity pads?

I gave in and rang labour ward, they had me in, monitored bumps heart and did a scan... after 2 days of no movement as soon as they started monitoring he moved.... typical!!

I got 2 photos though from the scan, and he is 6lbs 7 already... with at least 3 weeks to go!
