aethelfleda · 22/11/2011 21:06

Is it just me or is this thread falling off the watch list and not showing up on the antenatal clubs topic page?? I only found it by searching for "big bumps cannot lie" on the search box! It's happened twice in the last few days, maybe an phone glitch? Anyone else had this?

Dinner is brought to you today by the can't be arsed brand of chinese takeaway, the letter "z" and the number 6.

LittleMissHumbuggery · 22/11/2011 21:21

It's staying on my list, but I'm on the iPad not my phone.

I am in a knackered mood. School running, toddler group running, vet running and uniformed organisation running has taken it out of me. Dinner is coming out of the toaster and I am off to bed!

BluebellsintheSpring · 22/11/2011 21:51

Thanks PLU- FIL doing really well now which is great - op went according to plan and he's making progress with his recovery plan every week, getting more and more independent.

Jomouse you def don't need those things for a waterbirth in my local hospital but things vary so much from one area to another, I'm afraid to make declarations! It would seem a bit ridiculous though to expect you to bring your own mirror/sieve!

TeacupTempest · 22/11/2011 22:09

The midwife at our last antenatal class said to pack a sieve if you wanted a water birth!

jomouse · 22/11/2011 22:32

Thanks bluebells and teacup, I thought it might be a joke. Think I need to look into this more carefully!
Today, I did nothing. Absolutely nothing apart from slept and bathed. Trying to build up a sleep bank for the inevitable sleepless nights ahead. I also felt that if I moved around too much the little one might just fall out as everything is starting to feel a bit more "ready" this week.
seven, bit late to the party on this one but many, many congrats. It's great news! Do we have a postnatal thread yet? Would like to still keep chatting to you ladies as your support has been totally invaluable these last months. I can imagine we will all need that support and more in the next months!

KateM77 · 23/11/2011 00:05

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. Had a nice meal out with DH...followed by a Gaviscon chaser :) Irritatingly I'm now unable to sleep AGAIN

Really hope this baby is a boy. We've agreed on a name for a boy, but were talking over girl's names this evening and just can't agree on anything. Back to making new lists for us both again tomorrow.

seven Have a good night, hope you make it home tomorrow.

Can someone please explain the purpose of the sieve? Confused

sevensevenseven · 23/11/2011 02:21

Thanks ladies. We could just stay here until we're all finished then all go over to postnatal groups. I hope you ladies don't mind me staying and won't evict me for not making it until December!

aethelfleda · 23/11/2011 03:59

Good idea seven, keeps us all in one place for now: we could always split the thread temporarily if they fill up too quickly (look at this one!)

Here at stupid o'clock cos have insomnia. Grrrr.

Kate, I won't be too specific re the sieve, but it's very common to poo in labour, cos everything's in the same area.. i'm sure you can work out why a sieve might be a)useful and b)non-reuseable!!! Get a cheap one from a pound shop if required! Me, I'm not going for a water birth as I did't want to have to get in and out of the pool to deliver the placenta, and don't find water that relaxing.

Xiaoxiong · 23/11/2011 05:30

Sigh, I'm up too. My poor left hip feels like it's been beaten with a baseball bat, I feel dizzy on my back and I get heartburn when I'm on my right Confused Oh well, at least I can't wake DH with my snoring if I'm awake!

kri5ty · 23/11/2011 05:36

I'm up too!

God dam constipation.. sorry for the Tmi this time in the morning!! Lol.. normally I 'go' 3 times a day... easy peasy, but the last week I feel like I'm constipated even though I haven't been... guessing its pressure from baby.

Woke up at 5 with really bad wind lol, went to the toilet hoping for a loose movement Haha, but nothing at all! Looks like lactolose (or how ever you spell it) for me later!

jomouse · 23/11/2011 05:53

Morning all! Also awake...
Fretting about this and that.
Kri5ty did you get lactulise from your midwife? I need to remember to ask for some as am already dreading the first post birth poo!
We are still stuck on a middle name if it's a girl. We are so convinced its a boy now though, certainly I'd there's any truth to the "carrying it all up front" wives take I am totally having a boy.

kri5ty · 23/11/2011 06:10

jomouse I just bought it from boots, I didn't know mw could give it you... I also am worried about afterwards!

All the old wives tales about boys were true for me!

jomouse · 23/11/2011 06:54

Oh, I am awful. Husband just left me in floods of tears after me having a wobbly and telling him I didn't want him to go. Pathetic! Need to man up. Just starting to get concerned about him being an hour + away in London and starting labour in my own. I know, more than likely, early labour is not going to be dramatic and will probably be a bit dull. So, why the tears?

Ah well, going to cuddle a cat and listen to some hypnobirthing to try and sort myself out! I am blaming the hormones.

figgygal · 23/11/2011 07:37

Ive been up off and on allnight hip pains real bad I'd say was looking forward to finishing work tomorrow but not like I'll be enjoying long lie ins the minute I'm awake I'm out of bed to walk off the discomfort. Poor DH has panda eyes from not sleeping and looks terrified everytime I moan slightly that he's going to have to do THE drive to hospital. I hope we can put him out of his misery soon he's very highly strung bless him Smile

On the constipation front I don't think ive had movement for about a week now but have been afflicted with it my whole life so not too bothered by it. It's when u end up in hospital for a "manual extraction" you really have to worry TMI I know.

Last full day of work today yaay!!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 23/11/2011 07:47

Fybogel is good for those of you in discomfort. The lemon is better than the orange.

My hips are also playing me up, any my head is bouncing. Feel violently sick too, so this could be a migraine if it is permitted to develop:(

Going to head to bed after I've done the school obligations. I seem to be able to sleep better in the day:(

sevensevenseven · 23/11/2011 07:53

kristy certainly sounds like pressure from the baby, I felt the same all day Monday after my waters went and she was sitting lower. Is the baby engaged do you know?

I'd certainly recommend dried apricots or something similar for post-birth, and get the first wee over with ASAP as well. I went soon enough after to think 'it stings but not as much as the head crowning' rather than just 'it bloody stings'.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 23/11/2011 08:04

Morning ladies.

Sorry some of you are feeling tired and i will join the queue of tiredness. Took me ages to sleep last night so uncomfortable and got 'period' style cramps this morning.

What are signs of labour to look out for? Besides your waters breaking!

Need this baby to think about making an entrance now am so uncomfortable and heavy in the pelvis area Sad

cheeptrick · 23/11/2011 08:09

Morning all

Seven i agree with the water, jug, wee and pour it really does work, also try to drink lots of water to help dilute wee. If your still in hospital ask a nurse if they have cold lavander compress - it was a god send when i had sticths, the cold nums the area and the lavander promotes healing (basicaly its an iced pices of guarze.

I didn't sleep well last night at all, i'm so tired. I have MW appointment today and meeting tomorrow and my house is a mess and DH does not seem to be making an effort to help tidy up, as he is tired too Angry

DarciesmumandBump2 · 23/11/2011 08:13

My boobs seem to of grown again and can be quite sore - is that a sign labour maybe imminent? X

msbuggywinkle · 23/11/2011 08:23

Reasonable nights sleep here, only woke up three times. It seems that going to bed very late is working for me. Sorry for everyone who is uncomfortable and not sleeping!

darcies for me, signs of imminent labour have been a show, suddenly finding pregnancy unbearable any longer, then a day or so of mild un-exciting contractions.

jo cat hugging is a good thing! I've been worrying about DP and my Mum getting here too, so I've put a friend who lives round the corner on standby...would that work for you?

Plans for today everyone?

We have a friend coming round to paint the dragon eggs we made last week, then my doula is round this evening (yay for a massage!).

TeacupTempest · 23/11/2011 08:25

Is it really true that first babies are usually late. Am hoping its another myth. There is no more room in there for little one to grow any more!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 23/11/2011 09:11

Cheep Whether your DH is tired or not he should still help. Can you do what i've done to DP, I tidy all DD & My stuff but all his I leave, so if he complains that its untidy here I can point out its all his crap :)

Msbuggy Thanks, as with DD i just remember waking up with contractions and she was born the same day.

Teacup My DD was a week early so its just a myth.

The walk on the school run was a very cold one...hoping the walk did me good tho! get the labour vibes going :)

HoneyLovesCake · 23/11/2011 09:22

Morning all sooo tired today. didn't get much work done yesterday so a heavier one today :( but I did manage to get 4 veggie moussaka's in the freezer so not a complete loss.

Had a tiff with DP last night after hypnobirthing practice...I've been listening to the cd every night but we haven't been practicing together much lately & the numbing exercise I had such high hopes for is not going well so I suggested we just give up on it if we're not going to practice every day. He got all huffy & said he couldn't understand why we weren't practicing more often or why we weren't taking it more seriously....I got upset at this point as I think he really meant that I'm not taking it seriously. I feel like I'm doing my bit by listening to the cd & practicing my breathing but I don't feel like I can push him to practice...I just don't want to be a bother, & he never suggests we practice. All seems a bit silly now I've written it out but I'm feeling really emotional & tearful this morning :(

Sorry for the whinge.

Kitty5824 · 23/11/2011 09:33

Morning all,

Sorry so many of you are struggling to sleep. I'm not doing too badly, although I wake up tired so can't actually be sleeping that well IYSWIM.

Day off today, with last day at work tomorrow. Yay!

Task for today is to find a wedding anniversary card for DH. 5 years in January. Where the hell did that time go?

DarciesmumandBump2 · 23/11/2011 09:47

Honey sending unMN hugs.

Kitty Good luck at finding a card :)

Is it wrong to want to eat hot mince pies and ice cream at this time in the morning?

Baby is very active today, can I send vibes to baby to start labour?!
