Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Whoop! Dream! That even ups the boy bump numbers, three boys and three girls now? Your bunk bed pic sounds nice, stick it up :)
I will do a pic, not today as I had full set of clothes change thanks to DD and just put a nighty on. Blush
I don't regret finding out, I sometimes have a wistful moment, but as I see it I just had a bonus euphoric day.

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 18:16

YAY for 2 boys dream that's wonderful news.

Of course 2 healthy babies it's what's important, but for twins to be the same sex seems extra special. How cute are they going to be?!

Would love to see your pic.

Don't be disappointed you found out, at least you can get better organised now. We've decided we're definitely not finding out, but it's different when there's only 1 in there. I'd have probably found out in your situation too.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/12/2011 18:47

Congrats on the excellent scan news Dream! Did they figure out whether you have 2 fused placentas or just the one placenta? I'm just curious as to whether they think your boys are likely to be identical or not?

I understand that some people want to wait to find out the gender, but personally I think I need all the prep I can get for my first baby and I never even considered not finding out! I'm sure I'll be just as happy to see my LO (little girl!) when she arrives, as I would have been if I hadn't known the gender. Plus, only speaking for myself and my own unique brand of crazy(!) I was quite apprehensive at the thought of having a boy first (in my crazy head I imagine I'll know what to do with a girl more than a boy, I'm sure that will soon be disproved tho!) Finding out the gender allowed me to relax about that issue. Even if the gender had turned out to be a boy it would have given me more time to adjust my thinking. I think not knowing would have added more stress and worry to the birth for me. So even though you're a far more rational person than I am Dream I do hope you'll get some benefits from knowing in advance as well!

Sending lots of No Brooking Hawthers' way as well, it's just too exciting to think the first No Brooking baby could already be here! Still no brooking for Musical's appt. Plus extra congrats to Generic for the amazing hcg results! Very excited about your upcoming scan!

My thoughts are with Bartlet as well. I hope she's okay, and her family.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 01/12/2011 19:38

Dream, yay! Two boys, whoop whoop! How sweet. Excited Grin Time to start picking names!

Yes, where is Hawthers? Hope all is well. Brooking for babyHawthers.

Generic, those are some great results! How long will you have to wait to see if it is twins? Envy of twins! I want some. Maybe next time...

I remember crowning too, although had had epidural, so it probably wasn't as intense as it could have been. I remember saying dopily 'it hurts, it hurts', in case the MW/DH/Mum was in any doubt that it hurt. By the way, in case anyone has only heard bad things about epidurals, I had one and could still feel to push, and wound up without stitches - it is possible! Beforehand I didn't want an epidural in case it caused me to need forceps, because I had read so many bad stories about epidurals causing a chain of interventions. I'm not saying that they don't, I'm just saying that they don't always.

Scream, that's just how I felt about finding out the sex!

Hope everyone else is doing well - can't remember the rest of the chat! Oh, people were talking about maternity bras. This is the one DH got me. It feels really comfy and it is so pretty! I want more.

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 19:50

Right, my profile is public again with a new pic, I couldn't remove the cling-on baby, and daddy dressed her, be warned!!! Now someone else needs to do one sp I don't feel a fool please!!! Also put my 12 and 20 week twin scans up- the ones with both babies, as everyone has one of juts the one of their own!!

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 19:55

ooop, posed too soon. scream and too, I think I won't regret finding out overall, but I did like not knowing! I knew in myself it was boys though. I've forgotten what else everyone was saying from the last page, duh.

They're not sure re:the placenta- definitely not two now, but most likely it's two which have fused. Most likely my boys are fraternal twins, so two eggs fertilised by two perm, but a 10-30% chance that one egg was fertiloised and split within 48 hours of being fertilised which would mean they could still be identical. Won't know til the birth, doubt we'd know then- they'd probably have to be gentically tested to know for sure! My friend with 7 year old twins says they couldn't tell from her placenta whether her girls are ID or not, but as they're growing, she doesn't think so- they don't look identical.

too, I had an epidural, was able to walk throughout, and gave birth kneeling up holding the back of the bed. No forceps, but I did tear very badly...

I still like Toby and Sebastian, but any suggestions welcome!!

Just a quickie on phone - two boys!! How lovely dream :)
So pleased all is well with them as well!
Both times I've loved finding out and knowing the sex, it does mean lovely shopping trips with just the one baby not three in preparation!!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/12/2011 20:13

oh dream how lovely, 2 lovely snuffly little boys with a big sister to dote on them.
Right, other than that my mind has pulled a blank, I'm off to persuade ds into bed, I may be back later, I may just fall asleep on the sofa till dp comes home, oh how my life is full of excitement and wonder.

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 20:18

Wow dream that's a fantastic scan pic of your boys. It's incredible isn't it that they're both in there nice and comfy.

Your DD looks a little sweetie.

Your scan update has helped me feel more positive about mine tomorrow. Getting a bit more excited about it now, it's just tinged with a tiny bit of dread.

tilder · 01/12/2011 20:29

Brilliant news dream - very exciting to know its two boys!

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 20:50

I know scarlet they already look more squashed than the 12 week one by loads though, and twin 2 has been breech since 16 weeks, the doctor says there's a chance he will stay that way from now! Twin 2 is the head down one on top, kicking twin 1 in the face!! Not a great pic, but the sonographer said they're too big now to get a good one of them in profile, together. Still cn't believe I'm saying 'he' and know he is a he! Your scan tomorrow will of course be absolutely fine, and lovely!!! and I had no dread at all, obviously! What time is it? Let us know asap!!

Lovely news dream and good results generic
I haven't been on all day so missed about 3 pages. I was feeling abit rough today, sore throat and runny nose. I have been in contact with scarlet fever this week so was a bit concerned. I sent my midwife a text and she said she would talk to a consultant and then get back to me. She did and said at this stage there is no concern for the baby but if my symptoms get worse go to GP and mention the sf exposure. Phew! Looking forward to the end of term now so I can have a break from the onslaught of germs flying around!:)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 21:57

Thanks for sharing those pics Dream they are lovely and DD looks really cute :) I am slightly Envy Dh would have like twins.

You can start persuading DH on the names now!
Mine is starting to fight back git something about him thinking he does have a say in the name afterall.
I have another name I secretly like but it is awful and I know it! So hard, why can't they come out with a bit of paper or something saying what they want to be called?

I keep forgetting I am having a boy, to me a baby means a girl, so I catch myself looking at something pink and I am like 'oh' and it does give me a start as I remember again. I don't think it has sunk in :o
Scarlet of course your scan will be fine, we brook no argument!

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 22:10

What's the chance of him coming round to Hugo purple? And what's the awful name?! I definitely don't quite believe it, even though it was what I thought all along.

Shame you're ill wants, not long til the end of term! hope you feel better soon.

OP posts:
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 22:15

I don't know, he doesn't like it at all, and I don't like his suggestion (Magnus) however my truly hideous name is... Roland, nn Roly... So feel I can't bully him about his terrible taste Wink

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 22:21

Sorry Wants didn't mean to ignore you! There are lots of virus around I was laid low last week and when your PG your immune system isn't as strong.

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 22:21

Dh seems to be coming round to Sebastian, which he always said was poncey and a bit too posh for us, and Toby which he said was too cutesy. We've not decided anything of course, but at least he's not saying no flat out. I still love Hugo, not sure about either Roland or Magnus...I don't think Roland is terrible, I just keep thinking of Roland the Rat! Hmm, we both need to keep thinking of names!!!

OP posts:
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 22:39

I know I couldn't call him Roland it is more Roly I like, obviously if I had my way it would be Hugo! Magnus is awful, I am putting my foot down, Dh doesn't see that he would probably called Maggie. I didn't think Sebastian is poncey! But then I don't think Hugo is either, although I keep being told it is.Hmm Would your Dh prefer Tobias?

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 23:01

I tried tobias, as I prefer 'full' names where they'll never be asked 'is that short for anything?' but dh hates tobias, says it sounds really germanic (??!!) But he may be coming round anyway.

OP posts:
RealLifeIsForWimps · 02/12/2011 06:32

No way Purple -I love Magnus- I like all the Scandi names actually, but it prob helps that one of my best friends is a Magnus, so it has positive associations.

Dream I think Toby is one of those names like Jack or Sally, which, whilst they're technically nn's for other names, are now accepted as full names, so I think Toby on the BC is fine.

Glad everyone's scans went well and that Generic's blood results were good. Not much to report here. Still pregnant (wasted another test to check- paranoid? Moi?) Not sick. Have ordered my crate of Becks Blue for Christmas Grin. Am over my cold but DS now has it, which is actually worse as he can't even blow his own nose, and there's no way he's going to endure the aforementioned French seawater cure.

Biscuitsandtea · 02/12/2011 07:14

Right, sorry for radio silence preggos! Busy day yesterday (DH's Christmas party so spent ALL afternoon trying to get ready with DS's 'help / hindrance' and then was out dropping ds off at my parents and attending said party from 3:30.

I've just read everything but doubt I'll remember it all, so in no particular order:

Dream whoop whoop for your awesome scan news - very very pleased and excited for you and your boys. Will look at pics later when I'm on the 'pooter.

Good luck for the scan/appointment athon today - brooking hard for all of you and will be checking back in for news of course.

Scarlet just out of interest, which pushchair did you have for ds? You mentioned suspension and bigger wheels and I'm nosey!

Crowning - I never did it and am scared of it. That was how rubbish I was doing at getting ds out - he'd still be in there if it wasn't for the forceps. And I'm led to believe it smarts a little?

Scarlet in also scared of having 2 on my own. My friend's hubby (who had their second in Jan) was there last night as well as another lady who'd just had her second and she said she wasn't sure how she was going to manage things with 2. Friend's hubby said 'you don't 'manage' things - things just happen!' eeeek. But I agree, I want dc2 to have what ds had and for ds not to feel squeezed out. I think bedtime frightens me a bit as ds is so good at bedtime so it's always been a lovely time for us but dc2 is bound to need feeding lots at that time I guess?

Oh bugger, ds has just got up and I've not showered yet - too much MNing!

Hope Hawthers is doing ok - maybe enjoying those newborn cuddles!

Can't remember everything else now - will check back in later.....

Love y'all

musicalmrs · 02/12/2011 08:36

Such a lovely pic of your two boys dream! I've also got Tobias on my list of boys names, though I don't think DH agrees - we're really struggling with boys names. I prefer full names that can be shortened too.

Good luck for all those having scans today! I'm trying to convince myself my consultant's appointment will be nothing too major - especially now DH has been called into work . I'll try to update after, though I have to head to school sharpish to teach groups of six hyper children Christmas songs... hmm.

I'm still not sure on the finding out front! I see all the arguments for both finding out and not. Scan's not until early Jan, so hopefully I'll have some stronger feelings over the next month!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 02/12/2011 08:45

Real you are welcome to have DH, I am considering a quickie divorce since his most recent name suggestion! I actually upset him slightly with my mirth, poor DH! Also, if you are persistent pee stick user, may I suggest you get the thirty pack off amazon, they only cost a few quid. I think I near enough got through all of them!

Dream I am glad Dh is coming round, you lucky thing! Envy

Biscuits crowing is unpleasant.. I personally felt like I was about to push out a bowling ball which was just sat there putting loads of pressure on everything, it burns and hurts constantly and then you have to push, (small pushes, no tears here) which hurts even more. And while this is going on I felt like my actual arse was going to turn itself inside out.
Aside from that I did enjoy pushing Dd out as the contractions themselves didn't hurt and you are actually doing something and know you will be seeing your baby very soon :)

I am brooking that 1-2 or 3 will be a breeze and we will wonder what we were worried about!

pommedechocolat · 02/12/2011 08:53

Brooking for scan people and musical!

GenericDietCola · 02/12/2011 09:50

Aw Dream great news re your two boys and I love the pics!

Too I am hopefully having a scan at 8 weeks, but just waiting for the appointment. Was half-fantasising that it might be twins with that hCG result, but Muscial our numbers were similar - mine was 15,000 at about 5 wk and your was 17,000 at 5+6, so maybe there's just one. Either way I'll just be very happy if it or they are healthy!

Hope you feel better soon Wants

Purple I quite like Roland - Roly is cute for a boy and then when he's prime minister or something, he can be Roland!

Real it's hard when you don't have many symptoms. My nausea has kicked in, but it's on and off at the moment, so I veer from 'ooh I feel sick, yuck' to 'why don't I feel sick anymore?' - I can't win. Hope your DS is better soon.

Biscuits how was the party?

Jen that looks like the pram I had for DD. It's light and compact when folded, but be warned it is difficult to fold it correctly and the mechanism is easily damaged. We have had ours repaired once and it's broken again so would need fixing if we use it next time. It's good value as you get the car seat as well and it's easily changed from pram to pushchair when they get older. I only ever used the car seat as a car seat, never attached to the buggy.

Musical hope all goes well at your appointment today and good luck to the scanees (Scarlet etc, sorry can't remember who else).
