Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

jaggythistle · 12/12/2011 09:03

mine's just awake and can hear him on the monitor asking me to take him to the kitchen. hope that's a good sign...

i had a terrible sleep though with really bad dreams! i must have just been dozing as i remember them too well.

in one there was a cat that had got into my house and i was really annoyed. so i gave it 2 paracetamol and it went outside and died horribly. Shockwhere does your brain get this stuff?? i hate it when my dreams are so weird i wake up a bit traumatised.
i think mad dreams is a pg symptom though, eh.

hope poor DD is ok today dream, i can see what you mean, it will be so itchy if she has loads of spots. :( :(

ScreamIfYouWantToMeetSanta · 12/12/2011 09:17

Dream I'm sorry to hear about your grandad Sad I hope you're ok.

Also sorry to hear about all the poorly LOs! Fingers crossed for improvements all round today!

The weird dreams are getting to me as well Jaggy! Last night I dreamed my Mum was pregnant! She was so happy but I was totally freaked out at the idea of having a sister and a daughter at the same age!! Bizarre...

Biscuitsandtea · 12/12/2011 09:30

Glad your wee one is asking for the kitchen Jaggy - hope that's a good sign.

Well, I have indeed taken my own advice and phone both the MWs and the PAU this morning. MWs said monitor it today and call back tomorrow if still worried. PAU said monitor this morning and call them back this afternoon if still nothing.

Any suggestions to try and encourage any kicks? I'm getting gentle fluttering, like the stuff you get before kicks, but nothing resembling an actual kick or poke since yesterday afternoon Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 12/12/2011 09:34

Oh, and weird dreams reside here too - cant remember any off hand, thankfully but some real weird ones!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 12/12/2011 09:49

Dream, so sorry about your grandpa.

Biscuits, am Brooking for lots of movement all morning! I have heard various tips for making LO move - the MW said drink ice cold water/milk, and someone else told me to eat something sugary. Lying down on your left side, too. I find that changing position when lying down works, sometimes - rolling over seems to wake her up.

I should not have followed the live birth thread - eventually gave up at about 11.30, by which time she was 8cm, possibly entering transition, but no one had updated for about 3 hours. I looked this morning and the baby was born at about midnight, a baby girl, after 2 hrs pushing and an episiotomy, followed by ambulance transfer for stitching. Phew!

Am off sick today (again Blush) due to sudden wave of dizziness and nausea this morning while doing my make up. I called the nurse to register myself as off, and she wrote it down as a neurological disorder and advised me to call my GP! I think she's overreacting...I hope! Haven't called the doctor yet - forced myself to eat some toast instead in case it is low blood sugar. Envy - that's my little sick face.

Biscuitsandtea · 12/12/2011 10:02

Thanks Too.

Gosh hope you feel better soon and a bit of food sorts you out? I often feel weak when I look in the mirror to do my make up but that's more the horror of what I see Wink

Am just going to nip out and do the shopping and then come back and have some ice cream or milk or something and a lie down for an hour or so. See if that does the trick.

Have already phoned DH to explain that when he gets home and I've done nothing again (!) it's on the MW orders Wink

NinjaChipmunk · 12/12/2011 10:37

ok, quick one from me today. I have my booking in appt at 2 so at least get to have the rest of the afternoon off! Wish me luck, once again all symptoms gone and I'm feeling maga nervous until the scan on thursday.
pomme could you take her out to choose her own duvet set? Might help make it 'hers' if you see what I mean.
dream so sorry to hear about your grandad.

right best do some work seeing as I'm only here this morning!

pommedenoel · 12/12/2011 12:46

Biscuits - try getting down on all fours and leaning forward or lounging right back on the sofa. Hope all good.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 13:59

Thanks for the advice - after a magnum, some lucozade and a Mars bar (for good measure Wink) I lay on the sofa for a good hour and felt some more definite wriggles. Not really a big kick or poke but some more wriggles so just keeping my eye on it. Still not sure exactly what I should be 'counting' - kicks yes, flutters no, but all this stuff in between.... And when you've been told to count them it seems to suddenly make a difference cos there's no way I'd get 10 proper kicks in a day at the mo - I haven't had one proper kick since yesterday Confused

GenericDietCola · 12/12/2011 14:01

Sorry, I've been AWOL all weekend with another poorly child. DD was sick for the first and 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th time of her life on Saturday! She seemed perky though, but yesterday, although not sick again, was very tired and clingy and we spent all weekend inside in the warm. Dream I do hope your DD gets better soon - chicken pox is not nice, but then it's good to get it out of the way I suppose. So sorry to hear about your grandpa too.

Biscuits I hope all is well and you get more movement if you have a lie down.

Too I hope you feel better soon - glad you are able to take time off and rest.

Scream and Jaggy I've had weird dreams too. Sorry to hear about your DS Jaggy - sounds a bit like what my DD had. At first I thought it was just related to her having a cold, but perhaps it was a different cause as she was sick throughout the day, poor thing. I became adept at catching it in a bowl!

GenericDietCola · 12/12/2011 14:05

Biscuits maybe it's just too early still for proper kicks. I remember being 26-27 weeks with DD and getting somersaults, but probably not proper kicks/pokes until a bit after that (although I may be wrong there). Anyway, wise to keep an eye on it and get it checked out and I know the advice is to trust your instincts, so if you're worried, you should still see the MW.

Speaking of Magnums I've discovered one of the few things I enjoy eating at the moment are ice lollies. Not really the right time of year, but still! I've gone right off chocolate and crisps! Eating lots of healthy fruit and veg (Scarlet I am loving oranges and satsumas too), but feeling sick a lot of the time and I can't stand feeling hungry.

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 12/12/2011 14:23

hello just checking in - still pregnant - a massive 38+4 today and starting to feel like i'll be pregnant forever. DH keeps asking me if the baby is goimg to come today and i'm now at the point of saying i don't fucking know why don't you ask it, not me? (sorry to the non swearers).

am large and uncomfortable and whilst i'm ecstatic to be in this position, i'm also tired and emotional so weeping all over the shop again. no signs of a baby appearing and have consultant appt booked in for monday (39+4) to make an appt for a cs for the new year in case mini hawthers is still squatting. sigh sorry not much to add right now.

dream DS had chickenpox earlier this year and it really didn't bother him at all... perhaps there is hope that your DD will shake this off no problem?

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 14:25

That's the confusing thing Generic - I have felt kicks / pokes over the last couple of weeks - but only a few a day iyswim? But I know it is still early to be getting them all the time - especially having been a late starter with my (now infamous) anterior placenta. So I know fluctuation in movements could be totally normal, but then equally I guess it could be a problem.

I don't think I worried about it this much with DS - but I know more now Confused

Can't believe all these poorly littlies! It all sounds like the same thing give or take too - just a random from nowhere sickness thing. Hope they are all better soon. And as others say Dream if it is CP it's horrid but at least it would be out of the way. How is she doing now? Any developments today? xx

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 14:30

Aw Hawthers - you poor thing - maybe we over-brooked on the staying in but? I'm going to start brooking for some labour signs for you - and don't forget the way we brookers give birth is with a quick sneeze. Right? No pain, just a sneeze and a baby.

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 12/12/2011 14:33

Biscuits it might that your LO is in a position where it's feet are pointing towards your back, hence you not feeling any kicks. This was the position mine was in at last week's scan and I've not really felt any proper kicks yet at all. Like you I can feel somersaults and wriggles but no actual jab like sensation yet. Give PAU a call back if you're really worried.

Sorry to hear about all the poorly DCs. I hope they're all on the mend now.

dream sorry to read about your Grandpa.

pomme did your DD have a better night in her bed?

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 14:41

Thanks Scarlet - I thinks that's probably it. I'm going to leave it for today, keep counting, and if I don't get to 10 by bedtime I'll call the MWs tomorrow.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 14:46

Oooh yes Pomme how did your dd get on in the big bed? I'm afraid I'm another with no helpful suggestions - we moved DS at just over 2, because we were moving in with the in-laws while we were between houses so we didn't want to have to take the cot. But he just stayed in his bed - I mean it took months before he even considered getting out of the bed himself. Like Scarlet's DS he just used to shout us when he woke up. He probably ventured out on his own about 6 mths ago? But I have heard others try a stairgate at the door, or just the old 'keep taking her back to bed every time, no matter how many times' etc.

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 12/12/2011 14:51

Love the new Christmas name changes Hawthers and Biscuits

NinjaChipmunk · 12/12/2011 15:00

hello, I'm back and i'm now booked in. I'd forgotten how much blood they take, I think mine was refusing to come out by the end of the 3rd vial. Now just waiting for the scan on thursday.

Loving the name changes btw.

Right, late lunch and a catch up for me. Be back later.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 15:00
Xmas Grin
Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 15:03

Glad you're booked in Ninja Xmas Smile - only 2 sleeps to your scan now! So how many weeks are you now? I'm sure it doesn't seem like it to you but it feels as though it's gone fast!

NinjaChipmunk · 12/12/2011 15:22

I'll be 12 weeks on Friday biscuits which I feel is somewhat unbelievable, especially with the complete lack of symptoms (except expanding belly).
We told ds and the in laws last weds. DS is absolutely over the moon, he keeps kissing and cuddling my belly and saying he's kissing the baby. In laws were pleased too although the first comment was 'so have you started to look at houses yet?' and the second from MIL being 'that raises me up in the g-parent stakes among my friends' Xmas Hmm (for some reason in her mind the higher the number of grandchildren you have it somehow raises up an imaginary chart?!).

Sorry to hear about all the poorly dc on here at the moment, poor sausages.

Biscuitsandtinsel · 12/12/2011 15:38

Xmas ConfusedXmas Hmm at your MIL Ninja. They say the funniest things don't they! I wonder if we'll all turn into the sort of person with these weird thoughts / opinions when we're grandparents? Perhaps you have to go on some sort of training course when your own children leave home? Or maybe there is in fact a league table of Grandparents - perhaps they put it in The Times like the school league tables? You could get points for the number of grandchildren, and then things like how far they can swim, at what age they start walking / talking / using the potty?

V cute about your DS though Ninja Xmas Smile. That's lovely.

I think the novelty has worn off for DS here. Plus he seems to think the baby might be in any of my 3 'front bumps' iyswim Xmas Hmm. I think we'll try to start reminding him about it once Christmas is out of the way. We thought about booking another private scan to take DS to. Could be great, or could be a great big waste of money if he's not bothered when we get there....

GenericDietCola · 12/12/2011 15:42

Pomme I forgot to comment re big bed too. My DD is like others in that she stays in bed and shouts 'Mummmeeee!' when she wakes up rather than getting out of bed. It's strange she never gets up - we thought she would play in her room in the mornings, but no. We do have a stair gate though as our stairs start right outside her room and I'm so worried about her tumbling down them. I would definitely recommend doing that.

Hawthers I am joining Biscuits in brooking that labour starts soon and that it is nice and easy!

Ninja great that you are booked in and glad the grandparents and DS were so excited by the news! Your 12 weeks seem to have gone quickly for me too - hope my own will speed up. 7 weeks now and it seems forever until I will get a scan! Booking in on 5 Jan and they will give me the scan date then, so it won't be before mid-Jan.

NinjaChipmunk · 12/12/2011 15:44

ha! 3 front bumps just made me snort!
Yes mil is a bit mental sometimes, although she is incredibly generous, adores ds and her other dgd and is mostly very nice. I think I just don't quite understand how her brain works sometimes Xmas Grin I do like your idea of a league table though, I think we should talk to sil and get all 3 sets of gp's on there and they can compete without knowing, we could award them points for those special aspects of their personalities......
I really must go shopping now as otherwise there will be nothing for my dinner. Boo, its cold outside and I don't want to leave the sofa. I can feel a baked potato calling me.
