Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Great news Generic :)

Oooh, more twins... Or maybe we're due some triplets.......

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 12:30

Yay for Generic's excellent hGC! How exciting to potentially have another set of twins on the thread. Will your scan be in another 2-3 weeks then Generic?

I'm also celebrating the fact that the new keyboard for my laptop has arrived and that it works! I'm going to be very precious about it from now on and no drinks allowed near.

Good to hear from you tilder I did actually lol at the grey saggy boob comment. I know exactly what you mean. I nearly cried when I found my old maternity sleeping bras, they really are depressing.

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 12:47

oooh, yes generic, have twins with me!!!! As i remember though, musical had very high hCg and is having one, but I'm hoping you're growing two!!!!! Grin Grin Wonderful news either way.

15 min til we leave for my scan. Nerves....

GOOD LUCK DREAM

I'm brooking like a good'un.

DS is brooking so hard for you he's not even bothering with a nap! :)

tilder · 01/12/2011 13:20

I don't know anything about levels of hGC apart from it gets higher in pregnancy. So brilliant news on the high levels Generic and looking forward to the scan results. We had an early scan with our first and his heart had just started beating - a single pixel blinking in and out on the screen - I think that was about 8 weeks which sounds like around the time yours will be? Amazing to see and very exciting after all the uncertainty.

Marernity and nursing bras are very depresing. I remember being very indignant when the nice lady in Mother Care tried to get me to wear a pink and white spotted thing and then the M&S lady refused to believe my bra size - I think i walked out in a huff from there. But I guess there is a reason M&S bras have never fit me - they try to squash me in a (non pregnancy or bf) 36DD and the bras that do fit are 32F.

Mr T has been asking for ideas for Christmas presents - why can't he think of one himself? - so will email him a link to the hot milk website and he can choose from the stockists.

GenericDietCola · 01/12/2011 13:53

Thanks all/

Brooking for Dream! She'll be in there now!

pommedechocolat · 01/12/2011 14:19

I can't wait to know what combination of twins she's having! Hurry up and update dream! I'm nearly as excited as biscuit's ds!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 14:20

Booking for Dream she said she thought it was two boys... I wonder if she is right!
Great news Generic as we knew all along, with all the brooking going on.
Tilder I like bravado bras, I might have mentioned that a few times. Wink
Hooray for new keyboard Scarlet our PC has been fixed and honestly it is a revelation having a full size keyboard and 22" widescreen again compared to poky laptop!

Maybe we should do some bump photos on our profiles? I might have had a small panic earlier when I realised in 11 weeks I could actually be having a baby... I am 26 weeks on Friday and if my BP doesn't settle then I might be induced, so definitely feasible. I have hardly anything ready!

Speaking of which where has Hawthers gone? She could be in the throes of labour as we speak!

Still thinking of Bartlett :(

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 14:57
pommedechocolat · 01/12/2011 15:10

Oo good point on hawthers! Shall do some brooking for her too!

Am finding pg to be going slow but then like you purple suddenly realise that i will be induced in 12-13 weeks time which doesn't seem long at all! Still no idea where we'll be living then either...!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 15:37

Pomme it isn't that long at all, I even emailed Dh to tell him and he said that isn't that long at all... I have already done 11 weeks twice and then some.

Starting to get a bit anxious about the birth too, and I thought I wasn't worried. It is going to hurt though, I don't know when it will happen or how long it will take and I distinctly remember how it feels to crown .etc
If it is really bad then I guess I don't have to do it again.

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 16:06

Hee hee Purple I just shuddered reading your post about remembering how it feels to crown. I feel more worried this time about the birth. Before DS I obviously knew it was going to hurt and I was prepared for it to hurt more than anything I'd felt before, but I wasn't prepared for how brutal it would be in terms of how intense it becomes and how long it goes on for. Weird how straight away afterwards though it's instant relief and you just know you'd do it again for another DC.

I think my 20 weeks has whizzed by. I can't believe I'm halfway through already. I know that after Christmas April will be here in no time at all which is both scary and exciting at the same time. I had a moment yesterday where I panicked about how I'm going to cope with 2 small DC on my own for the majority of the time. I just want DC2 to have the same from me as DS had and at the same time I don't want DS to feel like he's being squeezed out. I guess that's the same for everyone who already has an older child?

NinjaChipmunk · 01/12/2011 16:14

I think I'll be quite lucky that ds will be starting school 2 months after this one is born and so for most of my maternity leave I'll have most of the day for the baby and then pick ds up in the afternoon. Not sure about affording all the childcare that wil be needed when I go back to work though!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 16:19

I think it will either drag like anything after Christmas or speed by, possibly drag as you are just waiting for baby and Jan/Feb are rubbish usually!

I remember being stuck on my side in agony, wire trailing out of places wires should not be and thinking this is utterly barbaric! I felt like I was in medieval times or something! Sorry first timers... I think I was starting to go into transition at this point. Bleurgh.

I was saying to DH I will never do this again and then when I was holding DD I said I would probably do it again Wink

jenfraggle · 01/12/2011 17:01

I went to a baby shop (that was a bit scary) and they gave me some brochures. Me and DH have agreed on 1 that we like. Just need to go in an try it out for real now to make a decision

tilder · 01/12/2011 17:02

I cross posted with dream - hope the scan went well.

Scarlet I worried about exactly the same thing when pg with our second and am even more worried about this one. I just remember my midwife saying that MrT goes to work about 7:30, DS1 then slept for around 2 hrs a day and DS 2 for 2 hrs (never at the same time) and MrT home around 6 ish. So she just said to break it down to see how much of the time you are actually on your own for to make it feel managable - bit patronising but it helped. It also helped when preschool started as well to get some one on one time with DS2.

It was something I found really hard though - feeling like I wasn't there every time I wanted to be for either of them. I think they just have to learn to wait their turn a bit as well (in theory...). I guess thats a compromise with having more than one, but there are lots of benefits. If it helps, it hasn't been often that it has caused a problem. I do remember bed times being tricky when DS2 needed quiet bfing and DS1 needed a cuddle though. That was hard, but we managed and that time doesn't last long. God know what I will do this time - how do I get 3 kids in the bath? Do I do shifts?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 17:14

Jen- I would try a few different ones, the wheels look small on that one and there is no suspension. So it probably be pants on any rough ground. Also you want something as light as possible and easy to fold :)

I am trying not to worry about what it will be like with two, I figure I will just manage somehow and just have to let the baby or toddler cry for a few minutes if I need to. :s That and do plenty of toddler groups to keep Dd entertained.

Dream where are you? On the non alcoholic champers are you?

scarletfingernail · 01/12/2011 17:30

Hi jen I second what Purple says. See if you can try a few out.

Choosing a pram/pushchair for your first child is so hard. I like the fact that that one looks as though it sits fully upright for when your DC is a bit older. I always get annoyed with mine that it doesn't allow DS to sit up fully. That one looks like it'd be good for a smooth ride and shopping trips etc but if you like to walk outdoors, or vist parks etc you might need something with suspension and bigger wheels. It just depends what kind of trips out you're going to use it for. It's a complete minefield. Do you have an independant retailer near you? I always find them the most helpful.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/12/2011 17:35

It would be fine if you live in a city but I would trash a pushchair like that. my first pushchair came to a sticky end I also prefer a complete handlebar so I can push one handed, generally with two handles you need both hands. :)

musicalmrs · 01/12/2011 17:42

Generic, what a high hCG level! Mine was also ridiculously high at that stage (dream is right!), so you may just be hCG-tastic.. although another set of brooking twins would be wonderful! I have my high figures somewhere - will look them up to compare...

Have had a rubbish day sickness wise - sick twice before I left the house for work. It seems to be getting worse -really hoping I'm not one whose morning sickness gets worse throughout the pregnancy.

Have we still not heard from dream?

Very good point about Hawthers too. Thinking of Bartlet too.

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 18:02

purple, I told you I was having two boys and I am!!!!!!!! They both look good and were moving well. I'm so pleased everything was fine! I almost wished I was wrong and second was a girl, but deep down I knew it was 2 boys.... Partly for clothes etc. Am delighted though. Next scan 29th Dec, then 26th Jan, then 9th Feb so far. Lots more chat about prem labour today esp wit my BH and twin risks and birth options! One is head down, one is breech, and the doctor thinks section probably the best option, though she said if I'm desperate for VB we can give it a go an hope breech baby turns- may before then anyway. Think my bump measures 23 weeks, so not as bad as i thought, but as far as how far I look, im not convinced!

I put a couple of bump pics on my profile, I'll do another if anyone else is keen!!!

OP posts:
musicalmrs · 01/12/2011 18:03

Generic, mine was 17000 at 5w + 6 (ish). I was told "That's high, it could be twins.." by several doctors/midwives - and yours is so much higher! How exciting :D Have they booked you in for an early scan yet?

Getting a bit wibbly about my consultant appointment tomorrow. Thank goodness DH will be there. My back's been behaving more over the last couple of days Biscuits, but I think they're worried about later on in pregnancy and childbirth (understandably!).

dreamfeeder · 01/12/2011 18:04

Do wonder if hawthers baby is already here.... very possible...

Hello to everyone else, I'm too excited to concenttrate (though ever so slightly let down we found out- dh delighted, but you won't regret it I dont think scarlet, and biscuits etc!)

musicalmrs · 01/12/2011 18:07

Crossed posts dream! Two boys, congratulations! How exciting! Can't seem to get through to your profile (prob due to the dodgy free wifi here though), but looking forward to seeing all your pictures when on a happier connection..!
