Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Ooh Tilder 28 weeks! Wow! Nice to meet you and congratulations on your bump! Not too long for you now then!

musicalmrs · 22/11/2011 16:46

Soooooo pleased you're here Generic :) Now you get to join all the preggo whining...

Dream, glad DD's sleeping, and seeming better... though I hope you've managed to escape to the loo!

Ninja, glad you've finally got some appointments through! It's lovely to finally be in the system isn't it? Makes you feel properly pregnant- or did for me at least.

Have been finding it hard with the morning commute into London - nausea combined with having to stand. I think I'll try and head into the carriage more in the future, brandishing my "Baby on Board" badge and try and see if that works! Haven't yet sussed where the 'priority seats' are on the service I'm on, but there clearly aren't enough of them. However, got on a tube train yesterday and instantly got offered a seat! Was so incredibly chuffed! Wish the morning trains were more like that, when I really could do with a seat...

jaggythistle · 22/11/2011 16:50

jazzy283 · 22/11/2011 21:44

well im still awake as i feel like i have football inflated in my tummy i am soooo bloated and i feel yuk, when does the bloating disappear ladies :( dont say never its soooo uncomfortable

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 23/11/2011 11:11

Where is everyone this morning?

Jazzy, not sure on the bloated part - I didn't feel as bloated as you describe. I now feel like I have a football in my tummy, but that's for a whole different reason! I hope the bloating goes down soon for you.

jenfraggle · 23/11/2011 11:29

Well after saying yesterday all my symptoms have disappeared...

I didn't have tea yesterday as I wasn't hungry before going to Guides. I still don't want any food so that's nearly 24 hours without eating. Symptom or me just being weird?

NinjaChipmunk · 23/11/2011 12:48

hey jazzy I'm massively bloated, its horrible. I can't eat anything without rapidly expanding and it gets quite uncomfortable. Not sure what can be done about it though, I'm going to try to drink more and maybe cut out putting salt on things.

hello generic congratulations and lovely to see you here!

Am currently hiding in my car as I share an office with a lovely but very chatty woman. Problem is her chat is normally about her various problems which makes it rather hard to nod noncommittally and return to my work without looking completely heartless. Can't stay here all day though sadly.

jazzy I was really bloated for the first few weeks then had a brief reprieve around 12-15 weeks when I could fit in my normal jeans again. Am defo in elasticated waists now though!

Speaking of jeans, there was mention of jeans with the elastic panels in the pockets- where did you find these? I like the sound of them!

Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 13:47

Hi Fishcake - they are these sort of jeans. I got mine from Next.

I don't imagine they'll be much cop when I'm in full on whale mode but for the 'in-betweeny' time they were pretty good. The ones I got had an adjustable waist too, although i bought another pair off ebay but they didn't have the adjustable waist so I've not actually worn them as they fall down too much!

I'm thinking they'll be good for after the birth too as I can recall last time still needing maternity jeans but constantly having to hoike up my over the bump ones, which were presumably pretty stretched too after having gone to term with me!

How many weeks are you now Fishcake?

NinjaChipmunk · 23/11/2011 14:21

I appear to be coming down with a cold (again!) is there anything I can take? Is paracetamol ok? Maybe I'll have to pull a sickie tomorrow....

Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 14:24

Think paracetemol is ok in the normal dose, and then the old classics like your head over a bowl of hot water with a towel etc.

I feel your pain - I've had a cold knocking about for at least a fortnight now :(

fishcakefoxtrot · 23/11/2011 14:38

They look good, biscuits, thanks! I think I am nearly 20 weeks- I was due to have my 20 week scan today but have had to change it to a week Friday as DH is busy with work but wanted to be able to come, and I wanted him there for support. The time is going really quickly, plus I got my date moved by nearly a week at the 12 week scan so I have skipped about 5 days too! Like you, I am still not feeling a huge amount of movement and am trying not to worry about it but failing miserably! Are you feeling more regular movement now? I feel the odd little movement but I am also feeling changes in pressure, if that makes sense, and my bump changes size and shifts a bit from side to side, so I hope that means something is going on in there!

Sorry to hear you aren't well ninja. There's not much you can take in the 1st 12 weeks, I don't think. Paracetemol and hot honey and lemon. DH uses menthol crystals from the chemist which are amazing for a blocked nose- might be worth seeing if those are ok if you get really blocked up. And I love a bit of Vicks vapour rub! You should stay at home if you aren't well- just think of it as saving everyone else from your germs!

hawthers · 23/11/2011 14:54

ooh i swear by Vicks vapour rub - have been totally paranoid this time around and haven't eaten/drunk/taken anything at all that I shouldn't even self imposed no paracetamol rule (clearly i'm going over the top). ANYWAY had a couple of stinking colds from DS and DH and slathering with Vicks really helps (and makes you smell delicious.... Hmm)

GenericDietCola · 23/11/2011 14:55

Jazzy I've only just got my BFP so I'm about 4 weeks. I'm expecting the tiredness to kick in soon - I remember that well from DD!

Hi fishcake thanks for the welcome!

Ninja I think paracetomol is OK too. If you have a sore throat, try hot water with a bit of lemon and honey.

Has anyone had the flu jab? I have been offered it, but wasn't sure what the risks (if any) were. My lovely GP is going to refer me for a scan, probably around 9 or 10 weeks, so I'm hoping that might be before Christmas, but it may be early Jan. Would be nice to have seen a healthy bean before Christmas!

GenericDietCola · 23/11/2011 14:56

Cross posts - great minds think alike re the honey and lemon fishcake!

hawthers · 23/11/2011 15:18

ooh and i meant to say welcome generic i wasn't a frequenter of the rat smacking threads but am nearing the end of a high risk pg so needed the brooking which we know works oh so well.

hope you settle in here very nicely Smile

GenericDietCola · 23/11/2011 15:22

hawthers sorry to hear you are high risk, but I am brooking no argument that all will be well!

hawthers · 23/11/2011 15:29

thanks generic i'm the big fat one in the corner as i'm 36 weeks tomorrow and about to hit glorious maternity leave so basically pretty much out of the woods now! woop woop!
