Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Oooh maternity leave - very exciting Hawthers Smile

Fishcake - I was getting some squirmy tickly feelings but they've eased off a little in the last few days. Still get the odd thing though. I just wish they were proper kicks Confused

I'm 22+1 already and still only squirms Hmm

Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 15:58

And Generic I've heard terrible stories on here of preggos getting the flu so I have had the jab. I've not heard of many downsides or risks to having the jab?

NinjaChipmunk · 23/11/2011 16:02

I have some lemon and honey at home so may stck to that to begin with. generic I had my flu jab the other day (beginning of last week I think, I was 8 weeks). Ached for a day or so and fine now. Apparently it takes 2 weeks to work so anything you get in between isn't protected if that makes sense? I know flu can be very dangerous if you are pregnant as it becomes v difficult to keep temps down.
Aw biscuits and fishcake I hope you both start getting booted soon!
Being on the home stretch must be exciting hawthers you must be soooo looking forward to maternity leave

GenericDietCola · 23/11/2011 16:03

Thanks Biscuits I've thought about it and booked the appointment. Don't worry about the movements - you'll soon get the somersaults! Can't wait to have all that!

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 17:03

DH is a GP and insisted I have flu jab asap generic if that helps?! I had it at 12 weeks, as soon as I found out it was twins and I was told therefore I high risk pg I was on phone booking it to try and lower my risks in any way possible!! My colleague's daughter lost a baby through flu just after last xmas tho... she was so ill, then thought her bump had stopped growing, m/w couldn't find a heartbeat, and there wasn't one Sad She was 17 weeks when she realised but had flu at 12-13 weeks- baby died at that point, hadn't grown since. Very, very sad. Do it!

I am still in my normal jeans, but think I may stretch them soon, so as soon as I can buy some more mat ones will give up on normal. Couldn't manage normal tops with my bump though- no-one believes I'm only 19 weeks tomorrow, I'm massive now!!

Just leaving work, so can't write more now,
Hope everyone else is ok, biscuits, don't worry about that blooming placenta and kicks or no kicks to date, will make no difference soon enough, fishcake, bet yours is anterior too!! I'm 19 weeks tomorrow, and wish they'd skipped me on a bit Wink mine is not racing by!

I had the flu jab 4 weeks ago Generic. All good here. I believe the risks of not having it are more worrying than anything associated with the jab. Although I've not heard of any proven risks with the jab, it's just one of those things we worry about whether to have or not.

How did your DH take your news?

jazzy283 · 23/11/2011 17:53

generic im only a few weeks ahead of you so we are going through the early stresses at same time and i hit tiredness like a brick wall lol lol

pommedechocolat · 23/11/2011 18:03

I second/third/fourth the get the jab advice Generic. The risks of catching flu when pregnant are horrible and I had a cold for a fortnight at about 17 weeks which really knocked me for six (sounds a bit like Biscuits) so I wasn't taking any risks on getting actual flu!

I'm 26 weeks on Sunday which means I'll be in the third trimester!! Might have to start thinking about that blooming birth soon... So how many high riskers do we have here? I'm one too and it's nice to have company :) So far I count me, Hawthers and Dream?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 23/11/2011 18:23

Hello Pomme if my BP doesn't behave itself then I will be high risk I think? I can't have the baby at the MLU any more. :(
I thought it was 27 weeks for third trimester? I will be pleased if it is 26, especially as I am worried this baby will come early.

Thanks for all the brooking I managed to relax and was 130/80 for MW and 130/90 for the GP. I had to go see GP to discuss what sort of monitoring I need and to discuss my pulse, which is consistently fast. Anyway, I have to have weekly blood pressure checks and I have been prescribed Iron tablets to see if it helps with my pulse and general feeling like crap.

Oh and I have the lurgy now and feel really rough, I blame my being in all these medical establishments and the patients with their diseases. (Even though it is probably DD who gave it to MIL who passed to me)

Welcome Generic! And Tilder I was Envy of your 28 weeks and then I remembered I am 24+5 so not too far behind!

musicalmrs · 23/11/2011 18:33

I had the flu jab a couple of weeks ago Generic. As with the others, I'd heard lots of horrible tales about the risks of not having it, which is why I went for it it in the end. There's also the small factor that I work with children most of the week, and caught a zillion bugs last year, so thought any extra protection I could get would be helpful..!

jazzy, I felt incredibly bloated for most of the first few weeks. It's calmed down now (at 15 and a half), but it did make me look bump-ified for weeks, when in reality I wasn't! Like fishcakes, I had an area around 12 weeks where my normal trousers were briefly wear-able again, but now I'm in the maternity wear again.

Biscuits, those jeans look v comfy! May have to hunt for some in the Next Sale after Christmas..

pomme, how exciting!

scarletfingernail · 23/11/2011 18:35

Yay for improved BP Purple, we'll brook no argument for it not go up again. Boo to the iron tablets though. I had those with DS and they made my poo come out like dark green fir cones Shock Sorry if TMI! Bloody painful.

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 19:34

I'm tired and dd, still sounding like mini Darth Vadar, won't even lie down in her cot... This going to sleep business is doing my head in now.... Sad I don't know what else to do.

Anyway, purple, great about the bp, so jealous of your 24+5, and tilders 28 and even more hawthers getting to meet her baby soon! Hoping it speeds up a bit after the 20 week scan for me Hmm. I hope your bp continues to behave as it should and stay within normal limits.

Right, I'm off to count to 10 to keep my patience with dd after a long day at work and no dh to take over yet....

OP posts:
tilder · 23/11/2011 19:55

Thanks purple no need for Envy though - I went nearly 2wks over due last time so I have around the same time to wait as you (obv this pregnancy will be the same as the last!). Pleased to find out am in the third trimester though.

20 week scans are great - the baby doesn't fit on the screen but v exciting to see it all there.

Good luck with dd sleeping dream I find it very hard when they don't sleep and am afraid I don't really have any advice to help, unless she is old enough for the toddler taming book? Not really about taming but I found it practical advice which didn't assume all kids are the same. I love my kids, but I also love it when they go to bed in the evening and I feel off duty. Can finally relax.

Has anyone else been looking at the babyname threads? Makes me feel very traditional in our choice of names!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 23/11/2011 20:33

Tilder I was 40+13 with DD... It more that I keep forgetting that I am as far as I am, the MW said I was heavily pregnant yesterday and I was genuinely surprised!
I am having a 'mare with names, I have one I love, however DH isn't keen and so I am trying to find another name that beats my fave and DH likes.

Scarlet I was anaemic last time, and took two pregnacare a day which also led to orange wee!

I am hoping that if my BP can go a bit lower and stay there, and I will be able to use the midwife led unit. I think this is a tad fanciful though.

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 21:11

purple, just keep dropping Hugo into the mix, and maybe you'll get there... I really like that. I'm still on the job with bringing DH round to Sebastian and Toby if they're boys!!! The names threads come up with some wierd suggestions... Wolf for a boy?! really?!

I have just, finally won the Great Bedtime Battle, 97 minutes on... And actually she won, as I rocked her to sleep in the nursing chair in the end... I tried leaving her for 15-20 minutes, thinking maybe she'd give up and go to sleep as she was just messing about if i was in the room or cuddling her, but went in to a totally hysterical baby, standing up in her cot with tears pouring down her face- I will NOT be trying the leaving her again, I was really upset she was so upset. She's not much of a crier for all she's a bossy little 14 m.o. tyke. How old does she have to be to Toddler Tame her tilder? This is what I find hard, by the evening, when I'm tired, I just want her to go to bed so i can have a little time to myself. Plus I'm starving now, eating dinner after 9pm again...

off to check out biscuits jeans now...

OP posts:
tilder · 23/11/2011 21:27

Toddler Taming (just checked) covers the first 4 yrs and tbo the title is a bit misleading - it doesn't aim to tame. Am not normally a fan of books, as I find most a bit prescriptive, but this one has been useful (even if just to reassure me that my boys are normal). It has a whole section on sleep as well.

Agree on the names as well - I have raised a few eyebrows at some of the suggestions. Wasn't there Bungle talked about recently?

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 21:32

Bungle?! How ridiculous. I read one where the OP was calling her 3 day old daughter Tippi and wanted a 'proper' name for the birth certificate but to call her tippi as a nn. LOADS of people said it was a lovely name, just use it, and I thought but it isn't a name, is it???!!! There were good suggestions for 'proper' names that would suit Tippi as a nn too... Hmm

and I want some Taming!!!! Wink Will go and google it.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 21:44

Dream I've been tempted by the toddler taming too - I like the idea of being told DS is normal! I hope he is....Confused

There's some used copies on eBay for just under £2.50 inc p&p, some of which are classed as 'very good' condition.

Glad your DD has finally dropped off to sleep - hope she stays that way until the morning!

Tilder thanks for the book tip Smile

If we're talking multi coloured wee I had really bright wee when I was taking pregnacare conception. Nothing noteworthy now I'm taking pregnacare plus. Although I hate the fishy tablets - bleurgh!!

I've forgotten what everyone else has been up to.

Where's Scream - haven't heard from her for a while?

Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 21:46

Oh and Bungle?

Seriously?

I can't believe someone has pinched my first choice name. I can't use it now if it's going to be common - I can't have Bungle Biscuit being one of several Bungles in his class Confused

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 21:54

Yeah, sorry everyone, I'm sure you could do without the blow by blow account of my bedtime/ nighttime despair, it just seems such a critical point now when I'm so lacking in energy at bedtime... Sad. I will try and shut up about it, I promise... She's lovely, and I wouldn't swap her but go the f**k to sleep child!!!!!!! Grin

E-bay it is for the book then- I'm sure he's normal biscuits. He sounds it. This book better not scare me, or tell me to leave her to cry though.

I'm not taking any tablets now, as I'm on 5mg folic acid, and I don't know if because i'm on high dose folic acid I shouldn't take the extra in the sanatogen mother-to-be ones I've got... and I'm not taking my iron, as I can't face any other challenge for going to the loo- still having big bleeding issues daily... Rather wait and see what my hb actually was- was given it for my exhaustion, and because my consultant said even taking into account the extra huge blood volume for twins compared to singleton pg it still doesn't explain the huge amounts of anaemia for twins, virtually unavoidable to take iron at some point- but I will delay it until it can't be delayed any more!!!! The glamour of mulpitple pg- aches and pains, high risk for high BP, pre-eclampsia, obstetric cholestasis, anaemia, and premature labour. Of course, I am on this thread so I will have none.

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 22:00

yeah, where's scream, and where's meme, and denyeverything has disappeared completely....

bought that book Smile

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 22:02

Oh don't feel bad Dream - I'm sure we all want your DD to get better and I've never thought you overshare about it or anything!

At least she does seem to be getting to sleep a bit easier? And you're not having stealth-MN sitting on the floor in her room anymore?

Biscuitsandtea · 23/11/2011 22:06

Maybe we should start a search party for our missing people?

dreamfeeder · 23/11/2011 22:12

no no biscuits, I was stealth mn-ing sitting on her floor for over an hour tonight, then I left her- and we had the standing up hysterics and sobbing disaster, then I gave up and cuddled and rocked her to sleep- total time, 97 minutes from first put in cot to baby asleep.. I finally got downstairs to make dinner at 8:45 pm. It's no better at all.... Hence I've bought the book Grin

Oh, sorry Dream I was thinking things were looking up Sad.

Have you thought about asking your HV? Just a thought? How's she doing illness wise apart from at night?
