www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/cooked-brie-and-blue-cheese-during-pregnancy.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=216
info here-but I got it wrong about the danish blue-thats soft apparently and still not ok. It's just hard blue veined cheese. I'm still eating it-I don't care!

fishandlilacs · 14/11/2011 16:15

ps i saw and spoke to simon callow in malvern today. He's so cool. I'm rubbish and was too start struck to ask for his autograph!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/11/2011 16:23

OMG - am now drooling at the thought of melty gooey brie - is cooked goat's cheese OK too? I really miss that!

Crappity crap. The cot sheets are all moses basket size. Who got what sheets from where???

ghosteditor · 14/11/2011 16:37

mmmm cheeeeeeeeeeeeese

cakes if you wanted you could borrow my sewing machine for a week or two to run off some fitted sheets, but you'd still need to buy big bed sheets in the first place to cut up so it doesn't save all that much money for non-weird shaped cribs!

Kiddicare had lots and lots of sheets in different fitted sizes but we didn't look too closely as they won't work for us (the stokke fitted protective sheet was £26 Sad). I'm going to buy one of those hippy chick mattress protectors for our bed on the advice of several MNers, as with the bednest the baby will be in close proximity to our bed for several months.

fish I'm sending good vibes your friend's way! And eek on all fours over the ball? Sounds uncomfortable but I'll try it! Unfortunately after the day I've had all I want to do is curl up and sleep, but I have yoga tonight and a few baby-shifting postures to try as well...

redheadbedhead · 14/11/2011 17:03

cheeeeeeese mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yum. fryn I'm starving already - will have already munched on a million things by the time I see you!!!

i'm so confused about sheets, that and nappies are my last thing to investigate.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/11/2011 17:16

ghost - thanks, I have a sewing machine and (currently) an overlocker too, I just don't have any sheet fabric. I think it might be easier and cheaper to just buy some.

Hippy chick don't seem to do adult bedding sizes we have a standard padded mattress protector, but not waterproof. Shit, I am so unprepared for the mess of this. I don;t have enough old towels and no bedding for Sproglet and now I am actually panciking about this, because we do not have any money left in the budget for all this stuff at the moment.

ParsleyLion1 · 14/11/2011 17:44

fish thanks for the link, you have made my day. One of the other links says I can have sushi from shops so with that and melty cheese I'm laughing! Grin

fishandlilacs · 14/11/2011 17:45

!!GHOST!!!Oooh I don't mean all fours over the ball!!! Don't do that!

I meant use the ball to lean on-support the upper part of your body with it under your arms while on your knees!

ghosteditor · 14/11/2011 17:53

fish oh phew I'm so relieved! Just tried the kneeling on sofa with arms on floor version, no movement yet. Will give the one you suggest a go too now that it sounds less scary Smile

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/11/2011 18:07

I lie forwards over my bean bag - as I may have mentioned, I even nap like that - remarkably comfy :)

ParsleyLion1 · 14/11/2011 19:06

Below is the aubergine recipe I promised - it's an an American recipe so I'm not 100% sure we can get all the ingredients easily.

Aubergine recipe

For more than 20 years, women have gone to Scalini's restaurant in Cobb County, Georgia, with one thing on their minds - to go into labour. They always order the Eggplant Parmesan, which so far, has helped encourage 300 babies into the world within 48 hrs of mum eating the meal (not recommended until due date)

Ingredients
3 medium eggplants
1 cup flour
6 eggs, beaten
4 cups fine italian breadcrumbs, seasoned
Olive oil for sauteing
8 cups of marinara sauce
1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 lbs Mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 cups ricotta cheese

Instructions
Wash eggplant and slice into 1/4 inch slices. Place on layer of paper towels and sprinkle with a little salt. Cover with paper towels, place something heavy on them and leave to set for an hour.

Working with one slice at a time, dust with flour, dip in egg and coat with breadcrumbs. Saute in preheated olive oil on both sides until golden.

In a baking dish, alternate layers of marinara sauce, eggplant slices, ricotta, parmesan & romana cheeses, until you fill the baking dish about 1/8 inch from the top. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake for 25 mins in a 375 degree (F) oven. Let set for 10 mins before serving.

Feeling rather helpless atm. DH is busy trying to install the new washer/dryer and it's proving to be an awkward sod to fit in the space and get plumbed in. He was shattered when he came in from work and this isn't really helping and there isn't much I can do to help. Of course it's just making him more tired and stressed :(

greenlady78 · 14/11/2011 20:45

ghost I have posted this before but thought I would send it again, things you an do to help baby into 'optimal' position Grin

www.homebirth.org.uk/ofp.htm Enjoy! Wink

Ahh, you are all meeting... I want to meet lovely pregnant ladies, too!? Anyone in London? Blush xxx

shonnomanom · 14/11/2011 20:56

Ah fuckity fuck!
Just went for a nice soak I'm the bath on the hope of some relief. Instead I'm worse. Hate pgp!

I don't think anyone regular on the thread is anywhere remotely near me geographically speaking. So Il hold my own Scottish get together. Say costa in stirling. Is 1030 this saturday any good for you? Wink

ParsleyLion1 · 15/11/2011 06:52

Stupid sleep today. Grrr. I'm working from home today due to MW appointment later - lie in I thought, but no... Couldn't get to sleep until about 12.30 am and been wide awake since 4.30am Hmm

I can't even blame squiggler, I think she was sound asleep. pah!

redheadbedhead · 15/11/2011 08:01

i slept really badly too, something in our room crashed to the floor in the middle of the night and nearly gave me a heart attack, husband went for a wee more than i did because he'd had 3 pints, then he got up at 6.30 and that was it, no more sleep for me!

me and fryn had a good natter and a MASSIVE pizza yesterday though so I'm still feeling relatively cheery, and after I've dropped the car off for a service and it's MOT (eeeeeek) I'm off to Primark now on the basis of one of you guys' advice about big pants and cheap nighties!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 15/11/2011 08:06

That would be me. I'm a bit of an addict - have fun and STAY AWAY FROM THE ADULT BABYGROS!

trubble · 15/11/2011 08:14

I went to Primark at the weekend and I was so traumatised by the adult babygros that I ended up buying nothing!
