Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I did write a birth plan in a loose kinda way, mainly because my brother has mild cerebal palsy as a result of a badly handled labour therefore especially with my 1st I was quite worried.
I think the best thing is to have a birth partner who isfully aware of what you think you want and who is good at shouting.
So far I have had 1 natural birth 3rd degree tear - pethidine tens gas and air
induced natural birth episiotomy- pethidine g & A and tens and 3rd degree tear, induced natural birth episiotomy and 1st degree tear.
My birth plan will mainly say, if in any doubt of babies health whip it out the sunroof, and don't you dare give me an episio when I say I don't want or need one.
I plan to do this one hope to manage with just g&a and tens or water. I have to say that although pethidine made the pain more bearable as you are sort of distanced from it it dragged it out longer, not necessarily the labour but the effects afterwards and ds1 was so drugged up he wouldn't feed for a least 24 hours. DS2 was a much better experience as I was more with it and therefore more able to listen to my body and also once it was over it was over. I felt much better and with it enough to cut his cord myself.
Half way through this last labour they were about to break my waters as nothing was happening and ds was still very high then something told me to change my position, I did and boom my waters went and flooded the place (I usually have more than average amount!)
I think what I am trying to say is trust your instincts a lot, my mother knew my brother was stuck and something was wrong but it took them 19 hours to listen to her as a 1st time mum.
Sorry to babble on! I seem to be making a habit of it tonight. (Dh is out and I have the laptop to myself can you tell lol )

deardear · 03/11/2011 21:00

ooh thought of something. for those of you having 2nd babies watch out for the afterpains. not nice and mine lasted a couple of weeks. no one warned me about those!

deardear · 03/11/2011 21:07

Shock i have just got into bed and had clear liquid come out of my one nipple! yikes! anyone had that before? i remember it a few days before birth of DD2 but def not this early

hermionejgranger · 03/11/2011 21:12

My birth plan so far has:

  1. water birth if possible
  2. ask dh if he wants to cut the cord but if he says no then don't push it
  3. dh and I to get absolutely blotto on g&a and if they catch him and tell him to stop then too bad on him but i'm going for it :D
  4. dh to tell me if bert is pink or blue (if he can tell after all the g&a)

I like Bill's :D

Otherwise I'm just winging it at the moment. Oh apart from yes please for the vit K injection and yes please for the injection that makes your placenta come out quickly. Or something. Discussed it at booking (sooooo long ago!)

sugarkane I think I've added you as a friend on FB...hope that's OK

Sugarkane · 03/11/2011 21:28

Of course its ok, thank you for the add, I would have done everyone on here but well they are spread over so many pages its hard to find anyone.

louby86 · 03/11/2011 21:40

deardear I've had that too! I googled it and it said some people can have it from about 14 weeks! I wondered what was going on, although it might explain why my boobs hurt so much when it's cols outside, feels like I've got chapped nipples already Blush

BillComptonstrousers · 03/11/2011 22:20

God I've had a shit, and I can't even be bothered to bore you with all the details!

And to top it off, I just walked downstairs and I've let the hairs on my legs grow so long they swished when I walked Sad fucking SWISHED!! That is shocking.

OP posts:
louby86 · 03/11/2011 22:32

Haha I've proper laughed out loud at that bill Grin

BillComptonstrousers · 03/11/2011 22:44

I'm an idiot Louby! Who is that mental poster on the P & G thread?

OP posts:
louby86 · 03/11/2011 22:47

No idea! I only gave her my opinion of how badly I'd been treated at work, I wasn't accusing her of anything and then she has the cheek to pity me and assume I don't work for a blue chip company, not that that even matters! Don't know about drink she must be on drugs tonight Grin

BillComptonstrousers · 03/11/2011 22:58

I can't stop reading it, the woman is a loon! Wonder if she's been planted here by P&G??

OP posts:
louby86 · 03/11/2011 23:02

I know, I'm addicted! She is properly off her head!

Sugar80 · 04/11/2011 06:57

Bill that also made me laugh out loud, and I've just had to explain myself to DP!

My birth plan at the moment is..

Get to the hospital
Do as I'm told
Get out of there asap

No real idea what to expect, so I'm not going to plan.

phlossie · 04/11/2011 08:21

Morning everyone!

I think it's worth giving your opinion on things like drugs on your birth plan. I said that I did not want pethedine or an epidural on mine, so when I begged for an epidural the midwife stalled a little bit - just long enough for me to get to the pushing stage. She knew I didn't really want one, and she knew I was nearly there and it would slow things down. I was very grateful for that.

This time mine is to be at home, have baths to relax me, stay active as much as poss, entinox if needed, I want to see if baby's boy or girl, midwife to hold him/her as little as poss and then lots of lovely skin to skin. Syntocin jab and vit K fine. Toast and tea afterwards.

After pains were baaaad last time - apparantly worse with each one. Ouch!

melliebobs · 04/11/2011 08:35

Eugh 25 wk midwife appointment in 40 mins. I really should get out of bed. I really don't feel up to sitting in a red hot drs surgery whilst she somehow runs 45 mins late even though I'm her first appointment of the day

Emz33 · 04/11/2011 09:20

Just marking my spot in this lovely new thread. I seem to have missed the last thread completely! 25+1 now, last few weeks have flown by. Hope the next 15 weeks are as speedy!

melliebobs · 04/11/2011 09:51

4th different midwife and only running 20 mins late. A new record! All is well. Pips transverse ATM which will explain why one side of my bump was stuck up more than the other cos the lil tinker is lead there with it's bum in the air! Tee hee and another healthy heartbeat which doesnt fail to make me Grin

littlemonkeybix · 04/11/2011 11:15

I am now the proud owner of a COAT.... I am however not whooping just yet, as theorder is processing. I will whoop once i have the damned thing on my back!

Thank you Bon Prix!

They were out of stock a couple of weeks ago... but a new stock has arrived!!

One Charcoal Grey Duffel Coat on it's way!! (and another top, cos it looked nice!!!)

Motherfu**ercare can go and shove it somewhere unpretty! I will be contacting them shortly.

babycarmen · 04/11/2011 14:33

What happened with Mothercare monkey? I really need to get a coat but no idea where to get one and dont want to spend a fortune :/

My back/pelvis is really starting to bother me again, im thinking of phoning the physio to see about getting an appointment to see if it needs pulled back in place again, but will see how i go. All i want to eat is sugar right now but im going to try and eat more healthy and do more prenatal yoga, i feel so unfit and fat and frumpy :(

Went to buy a hoover from asda and got some sleepsuits, vests, socks, bibs and a baby towel for baby Grin Trying to remember how much of everything i need, DD only fit nicely into 'newborn' size clothes when she was 8 weeks old.

Im so hungry! 26+4

deardear · 04/11/2011 14:35

afternoon all. that shit made me laugh out load.

have handed in my maternity form and letter today. have asked to finish on 21st december as have 4 weeks leave to take. they dont count christmas as annual leave and we have until 3rd january off anyhow. bliss!

LO has been going mad today after having a quiet one yesterday. went out for a meal last night and ate 3 huge courses! was up most of the night stressing about handing my letter in but all smiley now.

been looking at dresses again for the dinner dance we have in 2 weeks time. have decided i think that i am going to take the girls into birmingham tomorrow and have a look round debenhams as seen some nice ones in there. have just sold one of our ponies as well so feel a spree coming on.

tried to buy 5 cots last night off ebay and missed them all by a couple of pounds! annoying to say the least but hey ho. no rush.

went to see nurse practitioner this morning as have had a touch of thrush for a few days. wee sample came back fine so she has sent a swab off and given me some canestan cream to use in the meantime. did my own swab so that was not so grim. she said the wee dipped normal but she would send it off anyhow.

got a friends grand daughters christening on sunday. my friend is younger than me and already a granddad!! his daughter had the implant but it wasnt put in properly. she is making out to be a fab mum though by all accounts. be good to have a baby munch.

phew that was long!

littlemonkeybix · 04/11/2011 15:16

BabyCarmen When I spoke to MCare last night, I asked why the bag had been sent, but not the coat. She said it was out of stock... (I had checked teh website, was showing out of stock) so I said about it being in stock when I ordered, and for the few days of me chasing the payments as I had kept checking. She said it shouldnt affect my order.

I calmly explained that was not what I was asking. I asked her why it would show in stock for days, then when I chase it up it is out of stock. Surely my order should have been processed and sent through in plenty of time, and when would they re-stock.

They don't know that... "we don't have dates".... Hmm But she did reassure me that I hadn't been charged yet for the coat (so couldnt get my 1/2 price refund on the bag) and if after 4 weeks it wasn't back in stock they'd cancel my order.

So I clarified with her, after 4 weeks, with no notifications along the way that it was out of stock, they would cancel my order... and as a result, what would they do about my half price bag?

Well, nothing.... I wouldn't be eligible for that, so I'd have to pay full price. OR I could order somethign else from them to qualify.

You can imagine I was not a happy bunny. I was very polite to her though, and said I would look into it again soon.

I can see where she's coming from in a way.... but I am completely dissatisfied with their website, and the way my order has been handled. The bag I picked I was happy to pay £20 for... but for £40 it is mediocre at best. So once i have my precious Bon Prix coat, I will be returning the mediocre bag, telling them to naff orf... and getting a decent bag, whilst wearing my delicious coat! Charcoal duffel coat Grin

By the way,... this coat was a birthday present from my mum and dad... which was 17th October... Nice one motherfu**ercare.

I am sure they have other good aspects... and the shops have ALWAYS been good. Website, and customer service.... plops!

littlemonkeybix · 04/11/2011 15:22

Sorry - part of my point being, I have to wait until 4 more weeks.... DECEMBER then... before they cancel my order, and I have to look for a winter coat.... in the middle of winter.

Not really suitable.

lilyrose123 · 04/11/2011 15:25

Hi everyone!

bill and your shit PMSL.....literally had to get the TENA ladies out!!!

sorry its been so long, I have eventually managed to drag myself out of the hyperemesis stage yey!
now having really bad headaches pretty much most days, any one else?? i think its hormone related, after going through packets of paracetamol I have turned to tiger balm! LOL

I would love a new pram, but cannot justify the cost so will be sticking with old one
naughty baby wasnt lying right for me to see pink or blue at 20 weeks scan, so we still dont know, but have another scan at week 30 so might be able to see then, DD still calls the baby strawberry and states she only wants a sister Hmm

monkey yeah tell us what happened with mothercare??
i have just been putting up with current coat and scarf, should really invest in a new coat.....have bought new swimwear, had to with teaching waterbabies LOL
starting to show now and putting the weight back on that ive lost!

phlossie can you invite me to the facebook group? then i can friend you all and see sall pics when we have these little cherubs?

as for birth plans..........not sure yet.......
I am signed up for hypnobirthing to keep me relaxed after bad experience, but i have nothing else in mind apart from taking it as it comes and hoping its not as bad as last time!
the hypnobirthing book i must admit is a brilliant read even if you dont plan on doing it, its a very positive way of looking at things, explains history of birth etc, my midwife seems very enthusiastic about it so we shall see!

Hope you are all keeping well, and I hope to keep up to date a bit more with the posts now....sorry for abandoning you all xxx

PamBeesly · 04/11/2011 15:26

Hello lovelies,

I had to laugh out loud at your admission there Bill I know we are all pregnant and TMI's are welcome but there is a line, mwahahahaha

Monkey yeah about the coat, no more deal with Mothercare :)

My birthplan will be something like this:

I'd like an epidural and any other pain relief please!
I'd like the delayed cord clamping
Yes to Vitamin K for the baby

I'm still on the fence about the injection to deliver the placenta, I still don't know enough about it.
woowa I've read about that umbilical wilting naturally too, its called Lotus birthing...wouldn't be my cup of tea. I've also read other cultures take the placenta and bury it at home.

mellie your nursery is swoony, it looks like something from a catalogue :)

24 weeks! Yeah he has reached viability, even though I want him to stay in for another 16 weeks!
